ahhhhh anya thank you!!! 🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️
🥰💌 for the fic ask!
Thanks for the ask, Matri! 🥺💗
🥰 A fic that gives you warm fuzzy feelings
I'm gonna put a lot of fics lmao sorry 😭
1. strictly professional by @candycityy - This is my comfort fic and tbh, I still can't process the fact that it already ended. I love it so much!
2. Heart Like Yours by @sleeperswakewriting - I don't think I need to explain anymore. We all know this fic gave us warm fuzzy feelings 🥺
3. Sunflower Fields and flashback to when you met me by Ate @heybeybey - I love these two fics!! Esp the second one because if there's anything I love more than rivetra, it's Baby Petra Ral.
4. The two Pepper drabbles by Ate @savingprimrose - OK I LOVE PEPPER. She just gave me the warm fuzzy feelings. If I could hug her, I will squeeze her forever.
5. Meet the Ackermans! by @lenacker - Another one of my comfort fics! 🥺 I love rivetra as parents and their two baby boys (plus the new baby 👀)
6. Confessions by @matriyoshkas - I read this fic even before I started writing for rivetra and thought "I need more of this. I need to know what happened and what's going to happen because the whole premise is so cute 🥺" (and luckily, i found out!)
💌 A fic that inspired you to create something for it
I haven't written/created anything yet about another author's work but I love making headcanons about them. (Of course, I don't publish it but sometimes I share it to them in discord 🥰)

like a force of nature
—Du-sik thinks that this disaster of a woman will probably be the death of him. Sikhye.
(You can also read this on AO3!)
For all his talk about friends—Du-sik's always been pretty lonely.
He's never had trouble getting people to like him, of course, with his easy chatter and dimpled charm. They say the elderly have the best social skills, and Du-sik's probably evidence of that; raised by his grandfather and then Miss Gam-ri, he's grown up always knowing just the right thing to say to put a person at ease.
Maybe that's why he's so drawn to Hye-jin. She's a disaster in the making, with all her prickly, stuck-up awkwardness, somehow lacking a single ounce of charm despite her expensive clothes and enchanting smile. Always saying the exactly wrong thing, her words always veiled in a thin layer of discomfort and misplaced superiority.
Honestly, Du-sik still isn't sure how someone with every possible asset in the world managed to earn the wrath of the entire neighbourhood.
But maybe that's why he keeps going back. That magnetic attraction that's a bit like a siren's call, or maybe kind of like watching a trainwreck—or possibly both, he doesn't know. He finds himself helping her, reproaching her, bantering with her. Like some sort of fucked-up fairy godmother.
You don't live the kind of life he's lived and come out still smiling without at least developing some sort of skill at self-deception, and Du-sik is nothing if not a master. So he tells himself that this is just part of his job—he's Chief Hong, after all, and helping the awkward new dentist acclimatise to the neighbourhood falls perfectly within his scope of work—and pretends that her smile doesn't make every trace of oxygen dissipate from his lungs.
And for a while, he believes it.
==
But not for long. The more time he spends with Hye-jin, the more he realises, with a dawning sense of dread, that it's entirely unnecessary.
Du-sik doesn't spend time with people out of anything but necessity. Even when he drops by Miss Gam-ri's house, all smiles and cheer and bearing gifts, he knows that part of it is meant as reassurance for the old woman with eyes that are far too sharp for someone her age: that he's okay, really, he is.
But as he stops helping Hye-jin and starts, well, just hanging out with her, he realises that he likes it, far too much for his comfort. He likes her awkward kindness and her stubborn streak. He likes the way she cares, even if she insists with a huff that she doesn't. More than anything, he likes how when she's around—and he's not sure why—but the loneliness goes away.
But the thing about Hye-jin, is that, unfortunately, she doesn't have great awareness about personal boundaries. She's brash and insensitive and headstrong, and she hasn't mastered the way he navigates a minefield of difficult topics with smiles and careless jokes; no, she just charges along with all the grace of a bull in a china-shop, refusing to mince her words, not bothering to tiptoe around his past like everyone else does.
So one day, she looks him straight in the eye and asks him, without flinching, if he likes her.
"Don't be absurd," he tells her as callously as he can manage, even as his heart pounds against his ribcage and his face heats up. "How'd you possibly misinterpret an invitation to a cup of coffee as an 'I like you'? Do you have Princess Syndrome?"
"It wasn't groundless suspicion," she says defensively, and delves into a rambling list of reasons for why she thought that way, and he looks as her with as much incredulity as he can muster up—even though, with all the blood rushing to his ears, he barely hears a word she says.
Not that he needs to hear them. He already knows what she's going to say. And, of course, she's absolutely right.
==
He hears her coming even before she has to shout his name.
Her heels click agains the ground, her breaths coming out in short pants as she runs to him. As loud and unsubtle as always, crashing along like a hurricane or a storm. He closes his eyes and counts silently to himself: three, two, one.
"Chief Hong!"
He turns around just as she comes to a halt before him, and he thinks he's prepared for the sight but he's not—this irrepressible woman, with her face flushed red and her hair falling into her face and her rumpled yellow dress like a beacon in the night, is an assault to the senses. A beautiful assault, sure, but one that makes his head spin with all the dizzying muchness of it. He swallows.
"I thought you wouldn't be back till tomorrow," he says, fighting to keep his expression placid. She shakes her head, her face a picture of fierce determination.
"I couldn't wait till tomorrow to say this."
When she finally says those three words—"I like you"—Du-sik can feel practically his heart swelling in his chest, in his throat, and he hardly knows what he's feeling—devastation? Delight? Possibly both, he doesn't know. He tries to stammer something, perhaps an excuse or a denial, but she presses a hand to his mouth.
At that single touch, he feels his defences crumble.
He hardly recognises his voice when he gently tugs her hand away and finally manages to speak.
"Me, too." His voice comes out hoarse, almost a croak. "I can't...deny it anymore, either."
They stare at each other, that charged undercurrent of electric attraction flowing between them, humming with unspoken words and emotions. Slowly, her expression shifts from determined to unsure, and for a second, he thinks she's going to back away.
He doesn't give her a chance.
When he leans forward and slants his lips against hers, he feels a wave crash into him, not of salt-water but of delirium and heat and wild, supercharged joy. It reminds him a bit of when he gets wiped out during a particularly rough surf, even the part where he can't so much as draw breath, because his lungs are filled with the force of nature that is Yoon Hye-jin.
The kiss starts out soft, hesitant, but at some point she settles a tentative hand in the small of his back and Du-sik knows he's a lost cause. The silk of her cheek against the rough of his palm, her arms threading around his torso, stray strands of her hair fluttering against his jaw—for a brief, blissful moment, all he feels and cares about is the woman wrapped tightly in his arms.
The ocean stirs behind him, and within their depths, the ghosts of his past roar for vengeance. But for the first time in five years, Du-sik doesn't hear them.
Later, as he lies in bed, staring at the ceiling, Du-sik thinks that this disaster of a woman will probably be the death of him.
Unsubtle, headstrong, and reckless as she is, Hye-jin will doubtlessly destroy every last wall he's so painstakingly built with a smile. She'll unleash the skeletons in his closet that he's stored up so carefully with a word. She is his destruction, his annihilation, his complete and utter ruin.
In the dark, where no-one can see or hear him, Du-sik lets the warm happiness bubble in his chest, like laughter, or perhaps hysteria. Or possibly both. He doesn't know.
Still, somehow, he doesn't mind.
