Every time I talk about The Sims community recently, it's usually not in the positive light. That's because I'm fed up with all of the drama and all of the negativity that's been going on recently. I have feared that The Sims community is going to turn sour on me, and from the looks of things, it already has. What pains me the most is I once called this community my home, but I get the feeling that it's becoming too hostile for me.
I understand that this decade has been pretty rough so far, but I don't see any reason to take it out on the game. I also understand that there some issues with the game, but the big difference with me is that I am not a bridge-burner, since I know pretty darn well that they'll get fixed in time. I know I shouldn't let the negative folks get to me, but unfortunately, the level of negativity has gotten to intolerable levels (even more than 2016 levels, which was a pretty rough year).
I did have plans on making a new Sims blog in the future, but due to all of the negativity that's been going on recently, I've decided to put that idea on hold for the time being. Besides, I just don't feel welcome in The Sims community anymore.

I know it sounds like I'm making regular reports about this pack in particular, but four days ago, I heard that The Sims Team made a new Laundry List that is dedicated the issues that they'll fix regarding the My Wedding Stories game pack.
In addition, I get the feeling that this month might be a two-patcher, because they mentioned about releasing two individual patch updates, that in which one will be released ahead of the MWS patch.

I know that some people have noticed that I’ve been very vocal about the My Wedding Stories game pack through this blog and my main account, @cartooniack1994, and want to know why I object to any negativity regarding this pack. Please allow me to explain.
I’ve noticed this community had made it an effort to ensure that this pack gets released to everyone, including and especially to those in Russia, which were made after the announcement that it wouldn’t get released there back in February 9 due to federal laws over there regarding same-sex marriages. There has even been a petition to get it released in Russia and a hashtag on social media, “#WeddingsForRussia.” A week later, the decision to forgo the Russian release of this pack had been reversed, with an added bonus that no changes had been made to Dom and Cam’s relationship, while also postponing the release of the pack to February 23. The disheartening thing is that whenever I hear somebody say that this pack isn’t worth it or that they are skipping this pack (even if it’s temporary), I get the feeling that all the effort that has been made to ensure that it gets to everyone had been for nothing.
I understand that most of it was because some people had been experiencing glitches on the main course of the pack (I’m not one of them, but that’s because I haven’t tried it for myself), and I get the feeling that they might get fixed eventually (though I wouldn’t expect it to be 100% glitch-free). Had the conditions been normal (or as normal as can be), then I would’ve acknowledged their opinions, said nothing, and moved on. But to sum up, I just don’t want the effort to ensure that this pack gets to everyone was for naught.

Here are a few of the Sims that will be featured in my new Sims blog that I will create some day.
These are Sims that I have made from 2018 to 2022, and they are based on a science-fiction story idea that I had. They are available for download in the Gallery. I have been playing with these Sims in my current rotation save, but I didn't share anything about it here, so I figured that I wanted to give you a sneak peak on the character that will appear in my new Sims blog. I am, however, gonna give you a brief run-down on them:
Jennifer Quinn is happily married to Rachel Clark.
Roxana "Rox" Collins lives with her roommate/girlfriend Celia Tyler.
Lawrence McKinley live with his transgendered brother Justin.
Sebastian Boyd is a person who has some feminine clothing options, and he aspires to become an author.
Kathy Fleetwood has two cats, and she works as a freelance programmer.
Craig Coates is a type of guy who wants to work with plants.

I just heard that according to this article on CNET, as well on various other news sources like SimsVIP, EA reversed it's decision and decide to release the My Wedding Stories game pack in Russia, and unaltered on top of that, which means it will include Dominique and Camille. I guess The Sims Team really does listen to it's community after all.
Unfortunately, this pack will now be released on February 23, instead of tomorrow. Well, I guess that's the price to pay, but it's worth it in order to ensure it gets to everyone.

Regarding My Wedding Stories
I know I'm gonna get a bunch of hate for this, but unlike other Simmers, I will not participate in the protest/boycott of the upcoming My Wedding Stories game pack.
Before you jump to conclusions, I am well aware of the fact that EA chose not to release the pack in Russia due to laws regarding same-sex marriages there, and I am aware that there are Russian LGBTQ+ Simmers (or Russian Simmers in general) who won't be able to purchase and enjoy the pack, which is understandably unfair. But the thing is, how will people know if this pack will be worth it even if it does get released in Russia?
That said, I know many people are going to miss out on it, especially those who won't be able to purchase the pack, but I personally don't want to miss out on the content this pack will provide. Moreover, I wanted to get this pack ever since it's announcement, but it's disheartening to me to see people say they choose not to get the pack out of protest, which is equally and understandably disheartening to those who won't be able purchase and enjoy the pack. What's worse is that there are those who dissuade those who want to buy the pack.
What it boils down to is that regardless of the protest, I am still going to buy the pack.

Thoughts on Paralives (and The Current State of  The Sims Community)
I apologize in advance if this post comes off as mean-spirited, but I've been holding it in for a long time, and I just wanted to get it out of my system. I also want to apologize for not posting in this blog in years. It’s just that I’ve been distancing myself from The Sims community on here lately, which you’ll find out why later on in this post.
This is a long post, so I’ll add a break here.
Since 2019, I've been hearing about an upcoming life simulation game much akin to The Sims called Paralives initially developed as a solo project by Alex Masse with funding done via Patreon. In late 2019, it was announced that it's not a solo project anymore, as he formed a team to develop the game. If The Sims community wasn't so filled with drama, then I would be hyping this project.
Needless to say, judging from the pictures the game looks great, even for a pre-alpha showcase. Here are some pictures, as well as thecomparisons throughout it’s development:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've noticed that the studio has made some considerable progress on the features and the graphics, but they do not represent to final game, as the release date is still to be announced. The thing is, what was demonstrated was just the Paramaker (which is this game's equivalent of CAS) and Build Mode aspects, but not much of the live mode aspects. Not yet, at least.
The part that puts me off about this project, unfortunately, is the fanbase. Many members of the fanbase consist of Simmers who are either those who just want to see another true life simulation game on the market, or disgruntled TS2 and/or 3 die-hards who are so dissatisfied with TS4 that they are willing to burn that bridge (that in which the latter was the off-putting part). My biggest fear about this game is that if it gets released, I'll end up being the only one who'll still play TS4. Although on a public Patreon post that the intent of the project was not competition, but rather wanting to add another life simulation game in the market considering the success of The Sims franchise, I get the feeling that the community would think otherwise.
I know what you're thinking: “You've been paid by EA to talk trash about the competition.” First of all, I do not work for EA nor do I consider myself an EA apologist (conversely, I don't consider EA as “the devil of gaming,” either, even though they've done some things I don't necessarily agree with). It's just that I've had a growing concern about The Sims community for years. I feel that the community has become more unwelcoming to me, because I feel that the TS2 and/or 3 die-hards are attacking TS4 players. What's worse, they've become too spoiled, because they played the series for a long time, and whenever TS4 brings in new or returning features, including those that they did ask for, they demand more.
The current attitude of The Sims community is main reason why I've not only distanced myself from the community on Tumblr and other major social media sites, but also not updating my Sims blog in years (though I have thought about making a new one, but have been holding off due to the state of the community), not being able to play any of the past title (the overzealous die-hards put me off from that), and not being too pumped up about the Paralives project. Don't take this the wrong way. I still play the game, but I've decided to play the game for the sake of the game (and also by doing away with custom content completely), and I've been sharing content on the Gallery. That very attitude is the reason we can't have nice things anymore.

No, The Sims Is NOT Dying!
First of all, I would like to say that I am planning on opening up another Sims blog that will focus on one household in The Sims 4 (or multiple households in one save file played rotationally), and this blog will still be up for archive purposes.
Now, I am afraid that this post might not be a positive one, because I have recently read some malarkey (from Lumia Sims) that claims that The Sims series is dying after 18 years, and it has disheartened me to no end. I understand the situation on hand, but they seem to catastrophize it, making look like some sort of doomsday prophecy.
I haven't interacted much with The Sims community lately, because I'm always afraid that some of the people in the community might post some things that trashes the fourth game, but as of recently, because of a bunch of people hungry for news (because there was no teaser this quarter), they make some claims that the series is dying, even though we might get some news in June, and that makes me lose faith in the community, simply because they like to undermine my enjoyment of the game (particularly the fourth one) by exploiting and emphasizing on the negative aspects of the game, which made lose my zest into playing it again.
I just don't understand what has been going on with the community lately, but I just want to ensure you that The Sims series is not dying, regardless of what other people think.

I'm sorry for this blog not being active for very long time despite what I said in my last post, but I have some things you say.
First of all, unfortunately, the gameplay for the Ortega household is on hold until further notice. The reason is because when I was playing the Ortega household, I've had a lot of custom content and mods, and I am sure the November 2017/Cats & Dogs patch have broken some of them, but I didn't check to see if the majority of my mods and CC have been updated yet, because I am afraid to, judging from the state The Sims community is in right now (especially with the negative folks out there), so I've decided to put it on a very long hold.
With that said, that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm gonna stop playing the game, as I have plans to open up another Sims blog, which is going to be a continuation of this blog, with the only difference being that I'm going to focus on one or more households/families in one save file (which is going to be semi-vanilla, meaning that it will have no CC, but has minimal mods.) Of course, I'm gonna have to learn how to level out storytelling and general gameplay, because I want to tell a story, but I also want to play the game.
When I do open up my new Sims blog, that won't mean that I will delete this blog, because I have a lot of posts here, and it's going be a waste to delete them, so I'm gonna keep it open for archival reasons. And if you're wondering what I might call my new Sims blog, it is going to be in reference to the animated TV show, Avatar: the Last Airbender. Of course, that will depend whether or not the name has been taken by another user.
In closing, I hope that I'll be able to keep my Simming abilities alive despite the community being in a relatively rough state, and not let the negative people get to me. And as always, just keep Simming.

I'm sorry I haven't updated this blog in a while, but I haven't had the motivation to continue my Ortega gameplay. Don't get me wrong, it isn't the game's fault (in fact, I am playing no-CC game with minimal mods on a different computer, in which I play just to play); I just haven't gotten the creative juices flowing lately. Also, I've been playing other games, too, and I've been worrying about stuff that I have no control over. Hopefully, I will continue my Ortega gameplay when I get around to it, and just focus on them (mainly Myla and Leticia (Myticia)), with appearances from some Sims on my no-CC/min-mod game (particularly Henry Lipper, Carla Peterson, and (not surprisingly) a lesbian couple Jenny Curtis and Sarah Brooke) as elders, because "they came from another dimension," and they aged up because of "something to do with time."

Reblogged this from my personal blog just in case anybody from The Sims community who is following me will get an understanding as to why I haven’t updated my blog in a while.
Yesterday, I had two of my bad teeth surgically removed, so I might take this week to recover. I might not be on Tumblr for quite a while, just as I wasn’t on Tumblr beforehand, because I got so many things going on in my life. I just want to type this down so you can get an understanding as to why I wasn’t on Tumblr for a while.

I’m here to make a very special post that has nothing to do with my gameplay, but rather a bit of exciting news!
After years of not having them, the long-awaited toddlers are officially here!! You don’t know how happy it makes me, now that most of community drama based around this life state are now coming to an end. In fact, this screenshot I took is proof that I’m not kidding!
Yes, I know it took them a long time to add them into the game, but at least it was well worth it.

Meet Kevin van Bilt, another extra I added into my Ortega save game. Kevin, a child from a wealthy family, has had a habit of dressing up as a girl ever since he was a child. His mother thought it was just a phase, but when his parents found out it was part of his lifestyle, not only he was kicked out of his family, but he was also cut from his father’s will! Despite his fashion sense, he still likes girls. After he moved into his new house, his neighbors, Myla, Leticia, and the others, seem to have opened up to him.
((My inspiration for Kevin and his crossdressing way of life was Maxwell Klinger from the TV series M*A*S*H, but the only difference is that while Klinger wears dresses as a way to get out of the Army, Kevin wears dresses as part of his lifestyle. In fact, Kevin van Bilt is in the Gallery.
Also, I’m sorry for not doing any Simming lately (from any iteration of the series). Truthfully, 2016 hasn’t exactly been a great year, especially for me both personally and technically. But I am hoping that this year, I’ll go back to do some Simming when I get around to it.))
