Wait a minute.

I thought Deuce was making those cauldrons out of magic. You're telling me that everytime he summons a cauldron, he's being stealing cauldrons from random people?! Does he summon the closest one? Does Deuce resummon the same one or does he get a new one every time? Has he ever taken one in use? Has a Potionology student ever just had their cauldron just vanish in the middle of a lesson? Does Crewel ever see one disappear and go "Oh there he goes again."? Do the cauldrons just stay where he left them and never return to their original owners? This is his go-to spell. Is Deuce single-handedly causing a cauldron shortage in Twisted Wonderland? Does he just have all the cauldrons now? This is why Azul took his Cauldron spell, he could short the cauldron market and create a cauldron monopoly!

Now all I can think about is all the people missing their cauldrons now. Cauldron Deuce INDEED!

And the electrified pool incident continues (ik electric eels are of fresh water and not the ocean, but I already drew it. So. I have no canonical explanation for that I did it for the joke)

Taking a second look I'm starting to think their outfits are too simple, but first and foremost I wanted to do something fun for the looks of their primary features. I took inspiration from Luca (probably one of my favorite movies ever so I couldn't help but reference it here too lol) for the eye catching merform designs! Considering they're canonically sea monsters anyway, I didn't want to just insert their og designs here, so in this au they're more like in between their og merforms and human forms, also with their color pallettes are more similar to what flotsam and jetsam looked like in the little mermaid movie imo I wanted them to essentially wear the same thing despite the contrasting personalities, and technically most of the time they're walking around the school they're simultaneously working for Azul, looking for students to make deals with happens in this universe too (fortunately for them and unfortunatelyfor others), so an outfit more inclined to formal would be ideal to cause a good impression on their business, or as good as they can make it anyway. Nobody can contain Floyd though, if he has to wear an uniform he is going to stylize it.

Keeping it short this time, I don't wanna keep it on my drafts to add more notes later and postpone this more than I already have 💀 if I remember more facts about the AU twins I'll share them later!

Also, I was thinking of making a tag for asks related to this AU and I think I'll name it #.phantom asks to follow the AU theme lol but now I have to edit previous asks to insert this tag so wish me luck

hiiihiii who out of azurido is more likely to ask the other if they'd still love him if he was a worm? Me personally i think it'd be azul just because he just seems to deal with insecurity and stuff more but a weird part of me can't help but imagine riddle doing the orange peel test on azul

You mention ao3 and I can't help but remember the fact that there is already an Would You Love Me if I Was A Worm fic. (worm dorks) It is Cater's influence on Riddle but the other way around? Hm... Riddle's a very doting person to animals and the worm being his boyfie? yeah he'd take the question extremely seriously and swear his loyalty to worm-Azul. The orange peel test... yeah. Less of a 'test' and more 'Riddle's just not used to peeling his own oranges'. Like he gets a craving for them and royally messes up his first attempt so Azul does it in his stead. After laughing at how bad he is, of course. (But stopping right before he gets too upset about it. I think Azul would be very careful with boundaries, considering his past with bullying and his abilities to read other people's cues.)

Azul is bigger than Jade and Floyd in their merforms... tiny Riddle. I think he'd be shocked to see just how much bigger this previously only 5'9 slimy businessman is. and it'd scare Azul.

Never watched Hazbin! But (Idia or Cater, cant remember) have mentioned that they've only been classmates in their current year, which means it's totally possible that Riddle used to Be Azul's classmate. Add the fact that they were pre-overblot, and it goes crazy. Like rough draft but imagine,

Jack Howl - 3/7

Werewolf Subspecies: Mackenzie Valley Wolf

It's no surprise that a family with the last name "Howl" are affiliated with wolves in someway. Whether they're beastmen or work on a reservation, everyone expected Jack to be affiliated with the canid in someway or another. Nobody was expecting the kid to be a werewolf himself, let alone his whole family to be werewolves and be so great at hiding this fact as well.

Despite his aloof demeanor, and an attitude one would describe as "straight-edged", Jack is very studious and determined to treat everyone with fairness and dignity. He hopes to be the kind of leader and packmate that would make his parents proud. He is, what his fellow werewolves would describe as, a "good boy".

Deuce Spade - 2/7

Werewolf Subspecies: Gray Wolf

Deuce has put his delinquent days far behind him for multiple reasons, but mainly has two: the first one being his discovery his gang did not care about him and only used him for his abnormal strength. The second one being hearing his mom call his grandma, in tears, and say, “My child is being used like a mad dog by his peers and I fear he won’t survive an altercation one day. Where did I go wrong?”

He now tries to be a model student to make his mom proud, but it's been difficult for him since he, largely, relied on her for support. Both as a mother, but also as a member of his pack (on account of her and his grandmother being werewolves as well). Despite his emotional outbursts, and his (somewhat) dangerous excursions with the Ramshackle Crew, Deuce is a good kid trying his hand at redemption.

Overblot!Ace

So I decided to take a crack at making an Overblot design for Ace based on the "Traitor Ace Theory". Specifically, the sub-theory where he accidentally betrays Yuu by preventing them from going home.

His prevention of Yuu going home has something to do with his Unique Magic in the fic I'm writing. I do think he's going to overblot bc he has a solo shot in the animated trailer/opening, also he's sketch as hell in the game *blah blah blah*

I could do a whole character rant on how I think that specific train of thought would go down, but this post is not about that. Instead, this post is about design and here are my notes + the process below the cut.

I would post the moodboard used to guide my (chaotic) thought process, however it is too fucking big and I do not have the energy to compress it.

Just know Disney Anime boys shared a canvas with: The Timberwolves from MLP, the Suitors from AMNESIA: Justine, medieval neck-traps, walrus photography, two tarot cards, and the Knave of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland (alongside the Walrus and the Carpenter).

Ace Trappola - 1/7

Werewolf Subspecies: Cascade Mountain Wolf

Despite coming from a human family, Ace was the only one of the Trappola children to receive the werewolf gene. Maybe it's because of this circumstance, or maybe the place they live, that caused Ace to be born as a wolf that's been extinct for many decades now.

Being the only werewolf in a human family has led to many, subconscious, cultural differences in what's considered "normal". Because of this Ace doesn't quite know how to act civil and regularly acts out due to pent up energy and instinct. He has, unfortunately, been deemed as "the designated trouble-maker of Heartslaybul", despite most of his transgressions not being ones of purpose or aggression.
