When people get a little too gung-ho about-

wait. cancel post. gung-ho cannot be English. where did that phrase come from? China?

ok, yes. gōnghé, which is…an abbreviation for “industrial cooperative”? Like it was just a term for a worker-run organization? A specific U.S. marine stationed in China interpreted it as a motivational slogan about teamwork, and as a commander he got his whole battalion using it, and other U.S. marines found those guys so exhausting that it migrated into English slang with the meaning “overly enthusiastic”.

That’s…wild. What was I talking about?

I have a huge attachment to Yuugi. Like, yes I know. Practically everyone in the fandom loves this kid. But, I am attached because I identify so much with him. He just wants friends. He’s been traumatized through bullying. He’s had people he’s trusted betray him. He’s willing to see good in everyone and can forgive and will give someone a second chance. I just, I love him. He’s good people. I was just feelsing pretty hard today and was a little sad so I wanted to draw the cute. I don’t want to ramble on and on because I honestly could. So, just look at the cute and squish the cutest cheeks you ever did see lol

RC9GN Pilot got leaked lol

Actually super glad that the full pilot got leaked lol For those not familiar, a sample of the storyboards got posted online a few years back, so it's nice to see all the context wrapped up into one video:

There's a lot I want to say and compare, but finals are coming up, so might have to put a pin in that lol. Here's some of my first thoughts:

Most of the voice actors seem to be the same with the exception of Randy (and maybe Bash). Not a hundred percent confident, but I'm thinking that it might be James Arnold Taylor (whose most well known for being Johnny Test)

I love the addition of Cranzky (I think that's how you spell it?) I just think the addition of not only more villains (also women ones) would've been neat.

Not a hundred percent confident on this, but I think the character designer for this might be Stephen Silver (Kim Possible, Danny Phantom) Most of the characters don't really fit his style, but eh way Viceroy was drawn makes him look straight out of Kim Possible haha

Livestock drama

   “Let’s put pool noodles on the goat’s horns!” says a teenager.

“Why would you,   ” I begin, but they have already stampeded out of the house. I shrug.

   It turns out that when someone puts pool noodles on a goat’s horns, the goat doesn’t really care. They’re very light, after all, and she can’t see them. You know who cares? Who cares a LOT?

   the HORSE. Hero took one look at Nutmeg wearing pool noodles and ran away. You know who doesn’t want to be left alone, ever? Nutmeg. Who went trotting after Hero because he was leaving her.

   Hero, seeing that the eldritch abomination was after him, picked up speed. Nutmeg went into a full run. My kids started chasing Nutmeg to get the pool noodles off her, but could not catch her, because she’s surprisingly fast. The dogs were bringing up the rear, just happy to be going for a pleasant run. Hero was in a panic, leading a parade that he did not want.

   This all resolved. One noodle feel off; the kids eventually cornered Nutmeg and removed the other one. Just - a day at a farm, I guess.

My favorite relic English still used everywhere is the word "the" used in phrases like: "the more I look at this, the stranger it seems, or "the bigger they come, the harder they fall". This "the" is not the article of any noun, it is a different word, a conjunction descended from the old English "þā", pronounced "tha" which means either "when" or "then". Back in early Middle English the structure "if - then" had not taken over and if you wanted to express an if - then relationship you said "þā whatever, þā whatever", meaning "when such-and- such, then such-and-such". "þā" sounds almost the same as "the" and the spelling of the two converged, but the meaning remained totally different. "the more, the merrier" literally means "when more, then merrier" or "if more, then merrier'; same as centuries ago.
