Tarot Time - Beltane Spread

Beltane is approaching! If you are like me, you like to do a reading for the upcoming season change. Here's a simple three-card spread to help you get some insight!

The words underneath the cards represent what you're reading for.

Here's how to use them:

Melting

What do you need to leave behind in order to thrive this season?

Perhaps a project, path, or though pattern has run it's course or taken up more space than it's worth. Whatever it is, you are better off leaving it in the past, as it will not serve you well in the future. Let it melt away with the last frost and allow for new things to grow.

Sowing

What is something new that you need to nurture this season?

Is there something on your mind as of late that you need to give more attention to? Maybe you have a new idea or you have been wanting to learn a new skill or hobby. What is it that you need to give more time and attention to in this coming season in order for it--and you--to thrive?

Growing

What is it that you need in order to grow this season?

It takes energy to push through the dirt and start the growing process. What can you lean on in this time you give you the strength to grow from here? Maybe a friend, positive thought pattern, therapy, or self-care routine. Find what it is that helps you grow and take care to give this your time and attention, as whatever care you place into this strength, you will receive it back in full (perhaps with interest)!

It can be hard to do long, detailed tarot spreads for a number of reasons. Maybe you're a busy person, or maybe you're brand new to tarot and the big spreads seem overwhelming, or maybe you just like to keep things simple.

I know a lot of us Hellenist have problems being open with our religion, especially in the west. But even if I keep my practices to myself, I find it sweet in a way how I can connect to my friends with it, even if they don’t know.

Ive been pretty sick for a few days now, and my Christian friend told me she prayed for me to get better soon. She doesn’t know I’m a Hellenist, and I don’t plan on telling her, but when she’s sick I’ll pray for her too.

Even if it’s not the same, I feel connected to her in a way since we’re both so devoted to our own gods. I think that’s beautiful. :)

🪽 Subtle Hermes Worship 📨

Keeping a journal of letters addressed to Hermes; you can also use a code name for him, such as "diary", if needed

Keeping a picture of him in your wallet

Collecting coins and shiny objects

Writing letters to friends or loved ones who live far away

Writing stories and poems

Having imagery of feathers, wings, turtles, or hares around (feathers and wings are especially good in a Christian household)

Having rabbit, turtle, sheep, hawk, or ram stuffed animals

Wearing jewelry that reminds you of him; a caduceus necklace is extremely easy to find online and is often associated with other things but is still a major symbol of Hermes

Having a candle that reminds you of him (no altar needed)

Dedicating any morning drinks to him (coffee, tea, energy drinks, etc.)

Participating in any sport

Making a list of jokes or quotes that make you laugh

Making a list of good memories

Watching comedians, live or online

Engaging in activities that bring you joy

Spending time with loved ones

Spending time with pets and bonding with them

Volunteering at a homeless or animal shelter

Honoring deceased loved ones, including pets

"Borrowing" things from big corporations

Setting money aside to save if/when possible

Exploring new places you've never been

Supporting small businesses

Taking a walk

Learning non-obvious forms of divination (cartomancy, shufflomancy, pyromancy, etc.)

Keeping a dream journal

Exercising if able; get some movement throughout the day

Creating something with your hands or imagination (writing, drawing, carving, something inventive and creative)

Donating items you no longer need

Buying a meal for someone who needs one

Showing kindness towards your fellow human

Making a list of things that made you happy throughout the day and that you're looking forward to

Carrying a good luck charm on you; keep a lucky coin

Collecting souvenirs from new places, even just the next town over

If you have a car or bike, show it some love

Be kind to animals; feed neighborhood dogs, cats, birds, etc.

Volunteer at an animal shelter or farm; volunteer at a homeless shelter
