earlier this year, printing label shatterfoil reached out to me to collaborate on a cassette run of my last chiptune album, The Water Aisle! the page will be going up on their bandcamp this coming saturday, the 16th. this is the first time i've gotten to do something like this, so i'm extremely excited! look forward to it!!

and lastly, the three remaining Sonic the Fighters characters! these were the last ones i'd had planned, but some other pixel artists on the server hopped in to do some modern characters--particularly IDW Sonic girls--and i've been taking their work and modifying it to better match the style as i'm doing it and adding them as emotes too. those i might post with permission, but otherwise, this is the last of 'em as i intended

just made these animations of the cast of Sonic Superstars to use as emotes on my Sonic the Hedgehog discord server, Let's Talk About Sonic, based on (and edited directly from) a silly dance that the characters of Super Mario Maker 2 do when left idle in that game's World Maker mode

incidentally: Mario, Luigi, and the pair of Toads have very slightly different animations for this in SMM2, which i channeled for these animations. Sonic and Amy mimic Mario's motion, Tails mimics Luigi's, and Knuckles mimics Toad & Toadette's

the inspiration to do this (and to have their frames offset so they make a wave when lined up) came from 1-Up World, a public Super Mario discord server with a lot of good emotes

back when i made the original emotes, i tossed in mighty and ray as "hopefuls" because i would lose my mind if they were secret characters in or even dlc for Sonic Superstars. this week i decided i wanted to make more of these lil guys, so i hopped on Metal Sonic and Fang to complete the playable cast of Sonic Robo Blast 2 (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Fang, Metal Sonic) and later the classic versions of Espio, Charmy, and Vector to complete the selectable cast of Knuckles' Chaotix (Knuckles, Mighty, Espio, Vector, Charmy).

maybe someday i'll figure out how to make Heavy and Bomb do this dance and i'll have the entire Chaotix roster here

sonic is traced from sonic's icon in Team Sonic Racing with some small tweaks + pieces taken from the twitter pensive emoji

ray is traced from the promotional art for the 30th Anniversary Sonic Symphony

last month, a friend on my sonic discord server jokingly (or maybe semi-seriously?) suggested we all adopt e-series nicknames. this spawned a separate idea in my head of designing e-series sonas with my friends, which i finally acted on today. this is E-114 Omicron, and no i don't intend to factor in that there was an unseen but mentioned E-114 Omicron in the archie comics

their overall shape, that of a round body with thin limbs and big hands and feet, was inspired by one of the early design concepts for gamma in sonic adventure. other aspects of their design, such as the coloration and the larger cylinders for parts of their limbs, were directly inspired by the gamma's final design

in some kind of hypothetical post-sonic-adventure scenario, eggman built omicron for the purpose of deep water exploration. their metal is coated in a hydrophobic material and sealed water-tight. their lightweight frame is easily propelled by the compressed-air jets located in their feet, and their limbs are completely retractable for maneuvering through small openings. they are equipped with one three-digit hand and small prod that serves as the base of a semi-stable plasma emitter, which they use to cut through stone and metal. inside them is one of the unnamed fish from sonic cd that show up in tidal tempest when you destroy the metal sonic projector
