Hey! CHAPTER TWENTY TWO IS LIVE!
‘86 // Chapter Twenty Two: The Gate
Tw: longing for your former best friend.
The afternoon of March 23, 1986
Eddie and I are so worn out, yet alert as we frantically put our clothes back on. “You okay?” Eddie asks as he checks to make sure I don’t have any dirt on me, nor poison ivy. “Yeah, what about you?” I’m the one now and who’s looking him over as he chuckles.
“Yeah… that was so…” Eddie starts to trail off and I giggle putting my dress back on. “Magnificent.” I smirk at him while flipping my hair out of the straps. “Exactly.” He comes up to me and wraps my sweater around my small, pixie like frame. The braids we competed with are now a total mess. I bite my bottom lip smiling up at him.
“I guess you won.” I say laughing. “Um, no. I’m thinking you won. With the way you took charge.” I begin to laugh again. “Ah, so you do admit defeat.” He laughs with me. “Yeah, I am, sweetheart.” “I’m happy to hear that.” We hold each other tightly. “Happy anniversary.” He smiles playing with my auburn waves.
“Happy anniversary.” I say back as he pulls me in for a kiss. The kiss is very needy, desperate, but in a “I’m going to protect you at all cost” kind of way. Then, I begin to take notice of the environment around us. “It’s probably afternoon by now.” I say looking around. “They’re probably worried sick.” Eddie nods in agreement. “Yeah, maybe we should go back.” “With the police on our asses most likely? And Jason and Andy? Not a chance. It would be hunt the freak and the babe! Besides, they probably know where we are.” “Dustin’s a smart kid.” “And the others.” “Did you just give Steve a compliment?” “Yeah…. That’s weird.”
Suddenly, we hear bickering. All too familiar, too. Eddie and I hide behind the formation. Could it be? Dustin and Steve? Eddie and I look at each other trying not to laugh. Dustin is going on and on about his compass going haywire. Steve, typical, is mentioning how he made the rocks a popular make out spot.
Of course he thinks he knows where it is.” I say sticking a laugh. “He’s so far up his own ass.” Eddie snickers quietly. “STOP WHINING!” “STEVE!” “LET’S GO! COME ON! TRUST ME!” They’re coming closer as Eddie and I try to hide.
“BADA BING BADA BOOM! There it is, Henderson. Skull Rock in your face.” Steve proudly states to a disgruntled sounding Dustin. “It doesn’t make sense.” Dustin exasperated. “Yeah, yeah even with it staring right at you in the face, you can’t admit it. You just can’t admit that you’re wrong, kinda like Roxie.” My jaw drops as Eddie smirks. “He’s not wrong.” He mouths then smirks as Steve says, “you little butthead.”
Then he jumps out before I can stop him. “I concur. You, Dustin Henderson, are a total butthead.” I can hear Dustin breathe in relief, seeing that one of his role models is alive, possibly knowing I’m with him. “Jesus. Wait - where’s Roxie?” He asks. Showtime. I make my presence known by jumping as well, with Eddie keeping me balanced. “Oh my god! We thought you two were goners. I’m so happy you're both alive.” Dustin says hugging both of us.
The rest of the group come up not too long after. Robin comes barreling toward me. “Oh my god! I was worried sick. We all were, but I thought Vecna got you. You scared me to death!” She squeezes me tightly. “I’m okay, Buckley. We’re okay.” Nancy examines me. “Thank god. What would we do without you? The Dungeon Mistress.” I snicker when she says that.
“Um, is my brother alright?” I ask as we watch him pace back and forth. “Yeah, is Henderson cursed?” Eddie asks as we sit on the rocks, drinking water they brought. “Cursed? No, no, no. He’s fine.” Max and Lucas are checking on me and show me they have the “Rhiannon” cassette. I tell them about our little adventure last night. How we saw Patrick. “Needless to say, we need to kill Henry, Vecna. Whatever the fuck we’re calling him.”
“BOOM!” Dustin exclaims as we all collectively stop talking. We all stare either frightened, confused, possibly amused. “Bada, bada, boom!” Dustin states as he stares down Steve. Steve, of course, isn’t amused. “I was right… Skull Rock was north.” We all sigh in annoyance.
Steve and him bicker for a bit until I have enough. I stand on the rock to assert dominance. “ENOUGH!” I yell, then quiet down. “Who cares?” “I do.” Steve says annoyed. “‘Cause he’s wrong.” “Yes and no.” Dustin starts. “This compass worked correctly when we left the cabin. We were started heading toward Skull Rock, the magnetic field shifted.” I put two and two together, looking over at Dustin. “Lover’s Lake. That’s where Patrick was killed…” “We think there are more gates.” Robin says.
“Let’s go.” I say grabbing Eddie’s hand and helping him up on his feet. “Don’t you want to go back to the cabin? Change out of those clothes?” Robin asks. Eddie and I look at each other. We’re dried off from the night before. “I think we’re good. We’re dried off…” I smirk at his words. Steve gets the idea. “NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN! And at Skull Rock? Are you kidding me?” “You did say yourself you invented it.” I tell him while smiling at Nancy, who nods stunned.
“You guys fucked at Skull Rock? Happy anniversary to you two. I just hope you didn’t get poison ivy.” “Buckley… shhh.” I say covering her mouth as I eye Dustin, Lucas, and Max, who have actually walked far enough to hear this. “Like Harrington said, ‘NOT IN FRONT OF THE CHILDREN!’” Eddie mocks Steve and we both laugh.
“Are we going to the damn lake or not?” Dustin yells as the five of us roll our eyes at his sass. “Yeah, come on.” Steve says as we follow the children, who are not children anymore. They grew up right in front of our eyes. Robin walks with Steve and Eddie while Nancy and I trail in the back. “So… you and Eddie… Today’s the big one year.” She says kind of cheerfully. I smile looking down. “Yeah… it sure is.” “You really love him, don’t you.”
I meet her brown doe eyes. Her gaze is a reassuring one. An understanding one. As if we were still the bestest of friends after all this time. Her eyes speak so many words. “I do….” Mine speak a thousand words. “How are things with you and Jonathan? Since he’s moved to California.” “It’s been okay… I guess…” “I guess… what’s going on Nance?” It definitely feels like old times.
“He’s just… been… no pun intended but distant. I don’t know. He’s not telling me something.” I nod. “And that’s why you didn’t go to Cali with Mike. He wouldn’t stop talking about the trip in the meetings. He’s been so excited to see Will, and El. What’s going on in your brilliant mind, Wheeler?” That comment leaves my lips and as soon as it registers in her head, she lightly smiles for a split second.
“I don’t think he’s cheating, but he’s definitely hiding something.” “Do you think it could be college? Maybe he didn’t get accepted or something. Which is nuts. He’s a phenomenal photographer and you’re a killer journalist… I’m getting sidetracked. He hasn’t called you or anything?” She shakes her head. “No, and I’m concerned. I mean, yes about Vecna, Max, and…” I catch her drift.
“Little ol’ me? I’m okay Nance. As for Max, we’re going to nail this mother fucker. We are going to save Hawkins.” “Like Charlie’s Angels.” Nancy softly speaks. The very show the three of us would watch. Nancy, Barb, and I. We watched it together on TV throughout elementary and middle school. I chuckle at the memories that I hold deeply in my heart.
“Just call us ‘Hawkins Angels’.” I joke. “Remember our weekly sleepovers with Barb? We’d alternate which house we’d go to and you two would bicker about who would be Kelly and who would be Sabrina.” I laugh. “I was definitely Kelly. She was Sabrina, for sure.” Nancy snickers. “Oh yes, I agree.” “You were definitely Jill.” “Always.” We both laugh. “I miss those times.” “Yeah, me too.” “I miss Barb.” We both say in unison. It takes a moment before my gate I’ve kept closed opens.
“I miss our friendship.” I blurt out. I want to tell her more about my self discovery, but she asks me the big question. “Why did it end? I’ve been missing talking to you. I wanted to reach out when… Barb died. I was just scared you hated me.” I bite my bottom lip trying to conceal that part, so I spill out the other truth.
“Steve.” I awkwardly point to him whispering. “When he came into the picture, I felt invisible, non-existent. I felt a drift in our friendship. I felt like I didn’t matter. I never wanted to fight you. I loved seeing you happy, so fucking much. But…. No, it’s stupid.” Nancy had a quizzical look on her face. “What?, Rox?” “Steve was an asshat. When you’d hang out with Byers. I was livid with how he treated you. I heard about the movie theater marque and I was just flabbergasted. I wanted better for you.”
The statement hangs in the air as we near the lake. Nancy can tell something is bothering me, the little detective she is. “Rox, I’m so sorry… I didn’t mean to abandon you.” Tears form in my eyes, which I hope she doesn’t notice. But, in true Nancy Wheeler fashion, she does. “Rox…” she tries to reach for my hand and I walk to the lake. “C’mon, we got a lake to investigate.” And my undeniable feelings for Nancy.

Happy Thursday, ya filthy animals! It’s time for Chapter Twenty-One!
‘86 // Chapter Twenty-One: Landslide
Tw: some light smut, it’s kinda cute. Cursing. That’s pretty much it.
The Morning of March 23, 1986
The noise of the woods awaken Eddie and I. I’m still in his arms, in the same position we were in hours ago. Freezing and dried off, we look around. “What time is it?” My groggy voice joins the symphony of the woods. Eddie looks at his watch and shakes it. It doesn’t seem to work.
“Shit. My watch broke. Probably from that dive.” He croaks. I grab his wrist and examine it. “… Yeah. I’m so sorry baby.” Eddie smiles at me. “It’s okay, darling.” His now dry, but messy curls wave in the wind. I can’t even imagine what my auburn waves look like. “You know.” I start. “You’re very sexy with your hair like that.”
Eddie snickers. “You think so?” I smile and nod shyly behind my breezy tussles. “I know so darling.” I play with some of his strands and start braiding it, failing miserably. He laughs at my failure. “What are you doing?” I start giggling. “Failing terribly at braiding your luscious locks.” I snort. “They’re so untamed, like a lion’s mane.” Eddie starts laughing more. “Man, I wish I had a mirror to see this.”
I playfully glare at him. “Hey!” I pout. “I tried. Why don’t you try?” I tease him. “I bet mine would be prettier and nicer.” He teases back. “Challenge accepted.” I say as I sit in front of him. I feel his ring clad rings go through my hair, untangling it. It feels so good. I close my eyes and think about the past year with Eddie. How magical it’s been with him.
Our little rendezvous’ at The Hideout. Being known as “Eddie’s Girl” by the staff and friends. The campaign, introducing Mike and Dustin to the group. Oh, how Dustin’s face lit up meeting Eddie. I knew right there and then Dustin found more family with the club.
“Eddie,” manages to slip out of my mouth. He strokes my hair softly, “what’s up?” He asks as his fingers delicately comb through my hair. “It’s been a crazy year, huh?” I ask, chuckling quietly. “It has. However, it’s been amazing with you by my side. My beautiful Dungeon Mistress.” My lips curl back into a smile just hearing those words, “my beautiful Dungeon Mistress.”
“Do you think if things would’ve played out differently, do you think we would’ve found each other?” Eddie snickers softly as he begins to braid. “You mean if Jason the asshat wasn’t preying on you and I didn’t swoop in? I would, say, for the amount of times I’ve seen you at The Hideout with Robin, we were bound to happen at some point.”
I laugh obnoxiously. “Oh really?” “Oh yeah. The way you’d glance at me in the front row. The way you’d smile at me, like a challenge. I’d accept it by pulling you on stage and flirt with you until you were flustered. Then…” He trails off mysteriously. “Then what?” I challenge him as he stops braiding at once and I turn to meet his gaze.
It’s like the first time, in his van, a year ago. How lustful, yet longing his brown eyes were. Even if it just for this moment, it feels like the first time.
I climb onto his lap and wrap my arms around his shoulders and neck as his hands grip my waist. “Then, at the end of the show, I’d like to take you away, kiss you. Tell you how pretty you are. How magnificent you are. We’d then have amazing sex. I’d probably ask you to be my girlfriend.” I smirk then tease him. “Wow, all that in one night. That’s very impressive.”
He chuckles, looking devilishly in my eyes. “I thought so… but, I wouldn’t change a thing. I got my girl.” I smile and plant my lips on his. It’s caught him off guard, but he gets into it quickly. “I’ve missed those pretty lips of yours, sweetheart.” He says breathlessly in between kisses.
“I’ve been crazy without this for the last couple of days. So fucking crazy.” I coo as his lips meet my neck and his arms tighten around my hips. The feeling of euphoria hits and I’ve been craving it. I’m indulging in this as I tangle my fingers in his curls and moan sweet melodies in his ears. “I missed your lips on me.” I coo in his ear.
“You feel so good.” I praise him as his hands rub my hips gingerly, yet roughly. He starts biting and sucking on the sweet spot where my neck and jaw meet. “You taste so good sweetheart.” His lips trail down to my collarbone. I hold his head to my chest and he holds my leg up by my thigh. Things heat up rapidly. The clash of the chilliness of his rings and the heat of my body collide.
He chuckles against my collarbone. “Oh Jesus fucking Christ, Eds. Don’t stop.” I pant and moan. “Keep going.” “Are you sure? You don’t wanna get caught?” I growl needily. “Eds,” I start. “Does it look like I give a fuck? Fucking love me.” He laughs wickedly. “That’s my girl.”

Hey! Sorry for the delay! Here’s Chapter Twenty!
‘86 // Chapter Twenty: The Sweet Escape
Tw: Patrick’s death, a bit of trauma.
*early hours of March 23, 1986*
“Eddie, come on. We gotta go!” I quietly scream as Eddie and I begin rowing the boat frantically. I see the goons in the distance running toward the dock house. Eddie and I ferociously continue to row out to the opposite side of Lover’s Lake.
“THERE THEY ARE!” I watch as the three stooges take formation at the dock from an already lengthy distance. “We’re losing them.” I say, with a deep breath of relief. That is until I watch Patrick diver in. “Oh fuck.” I breath out as a panicked Eddie turns and now Andy and Jason have joined in. Eddie grunts as he slaps the motor and it starts.
“Not on my goddamn watch.” Eddie growls as we speed away from the three. I watch the three try to come close to our boat as I clench the oar in my hands. Eddie also has his in his hand, ready for any of their grubby hands. “As long as I get Jason first.” I say almost jokingly. “He deserves it. You are my girl.” “And you’re my man.”
We both know there’s no time for kissing. Especially when the motor stops and we panic. “SHIT!” Eddie yells as he turns frantically to get it to work again, slapping it numerous times. I watch wide eyed, oar in hand, as the three come closer. However, Patrick has stopped. As if in a trance… Henry.
“Shit…” I say under my breath. Jason pipes up, catching Andy’s attention. “Patrick… C’mon, we’re close!” Ugh, even his voice makes me want to swing my oar in his face. I watch as Eddie struggles with the motor. “Eddie, we’re not far from land. Plus, I think Skull Rock is close by.” I whisper to him while we watch the events unfold. We both exchange knowing glances. I nod at what he’s thinking.
Suddenly, like clockwork, Patrick darts up in the air. Void of anything ranging from sight, sound, possibly touch. Absolutely stiff. “Let’s go!” I speak as Jason and Andy watch their friend’s demise. I will admit, Patrick didn’t deserve to die. He’s probably the most decent of the three. I also don’t want Eddie to relive it. Watching Chrissy, then almost losing me. This would be too much for him.
“Let’s go.” Eddie agrees as we leap into the frigid water. We begin stroking as we hear the bones start to snap. We both turned to see and there he was. What’s left of Patrick’s demise, it’s too painful to watch. I look over at Eddie who’s as brave as they come. It seems he’s being brave for the both of us. I smile softly at the feeling.
Finally, we watch Patrick fall into the water, then bolt into the woods scape, before Jason and Andy catch even one glimpse. “This way! C-C’mon!” Eddie leads me to the other hiding place we’d have. Or rather, all of Hawkins’ horny teenagers. King Steve apparently “owns” it. We’re both cold and wet as Eddie grabs my hand, scared the two somehow can catch up.
I grip on his hand as the cold air hits both of us. I give him a reassuring smile. “I don’t think those dipshits know where we ran off too.” I run his arm and I can see him smiling faintly. “You okay? I know it was probably rough watching that.” I quietly ask, going to his side as he keeps me close. “Yeah… I think so. What about you, sweetheart?” We continue to walk closely together, never out of sight.
“I’m okay, I think. I was more worried about you,” Eddie lets out a small chuckle. “I’m okay, baby. I promise. I’m with you and that’s all that matters. We embrace each other. “It’s been so weird without you today.” Eddie says as I listen to his heartbeat. It’s erratic yet calm. “It was weird without you too… and then being at my house, seeing a stupid birthday card from my dad. Then my mom locked me in my room.”
Eddie holds me tighter. “She truly thinks you’re a murderer. A cold blooded murderer. I’m so sorry baby.” I try to suppress my sadness over the thought. The very thought my mother has turned on me. The one person who I thought would be there for me. For Dustin. It’s not fair for him either.
“When I officially turn eighteen, I’m getting out of there. I’ll take Dustin if I have to. I harshly spit out. “Rox, babe, I know you’re upset but-“ “She thinks you’re a murderer, Eds.” I whisper loudly as we pass under the power lines. “The very man I fell in love with and her son’s role model. It’s such bullshit.” “Rox, she’s still your mother.” “I don’t care. It hurts that it feels like she can’t trust me or the man that makes me the happiest I’ve ever been.”
This brings the lightest, smuggest smile on his lips. We completely forget we’re damp from diving into the lake. We’re brought back by me shaking. “Here.” Eddie wraps his arms around me and we stand there for a moment. “Thank you.” I rest my wet head on Eddie’s damp chest.
“Of course, my love. And hey,” he lifts my chin up to meet his gaze. “When we kill Vecna and this ‘shit town’ is saved, we can sit with your mother and talk it out. I don’t want you to lose your relationship with her. We will fight.” I smile up at him. “I would’ve loved to meet your mother.” “She’d love you!” We both smile and laugh in each other’s arms. “Did I mention how much I love you?” I squeak. “You might’ve a few times.”
We kiss, then get to Skull Rock shortly after. That’s when we slump down behind it and get comfortable. “It’s too bad I don’t know a way to the cabin. They’re going to panic once they see we’re not there.” I say sort of chuckling. Eddie’s own chuckle follows. “They’ll figure it out. I mean, this is where most of us teens go to escape.” “That is true. Do you think Jason and Andy are coming?” “After what they just saw? I highly doubt it.” I notice him getting tired. “You should get some sleep, babe. I’ll keep an eye out.” I kiss him goodnight.

The Past Follows Like Your Shadow
Part One (not sure how long I will make this)
No warnings
Notes: Fell hard for Gator. Had to write him something. No, face claim for reader but it will be a F!
❤️s, reblogs & feedback is always welcome.
You were back in town to settle your great aunt Mavis’s house. You had left what felt like a lifetime ago. And now you were back. The electricity had not been put back on at her house, so you figured you’d go to the diner to grab something.
Tumblr media
The moment you spotted Gator practically sprawled on the stool at the counter, you inhaled and turned began walking back out to your car. You’d go elsewhere. You hoped he didn’t see you. That was a chapter of your past you didn’t want to reopen.
Tumblr media
You inwardly winced when you heard the solid fall of his boots on the floor. You heard as he called out to you as the bell on the door jangled. You’d pretend you didn’t hear him. Stuffing your hand into your jeans, fishing your keys out and were back in the rental easily. You immediately tried to start it. You gasped as your door opened.
A wave of mint, and his all too familiar crisp scent of cheap cologne that he began to wear at sixteen still clung to him.
“Tulip, I heard there was a chance you’d be back.”
You glanced at him through the strands the fall into your eyes.
You nodded.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
You bit the inside of your cheek before finding your words.
“Because you went on to get engaged to Mary Sue.” You fidgeted with the key in the ignition. It was not budging.
He reached over and placed a hand over yours. “You flooded it baby. Gotta let Gator help you.”
You pulled your hand back as fast as if he was actually closer to his nickname.
He made a disapprovingly sound. “That doesn’t mean I can’t help you.”
You blew the hair from your eyes. “What if I don’t want your help?”

Idk if this’ll resonate with everyone, but I’m gonna say something. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had bad menstrual cycles. HORRIBLE! So, in 2021, I had surgery to diagnose endometriosis. Now, I wanna talk about the two weeks leading up to my period. I usually get so extremely emotional. Like, PMS on steroids. I wanna talk about PMDD. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. While I’m not formally diagnosed with it, it resonates with me. I don’t want to trigger anyone with what goes in my mind, but I will say this. I’m a different person within that two week period and then BOOM! My period comes and it’s all sunshine and rainbows. So, in 2024, I’m gonna fight for a diagnosis. ‘Cause i definitely have it. There’s no doubt about it. Okay, thank you for reading lmfao ♥️

🚨I’m back! Did you miss me? Miss Roxie and Eddie? We’re back! Now every Wednesday night going into Thursday morning will be a new chapter. Long story short, holidays and birthdays are CRAZY! Welcome back! 🚨
‘86 // Chapter Nineteen: Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart
Midnight - March 23, 1985
Tw: mentions of Jason, mentions of Walter and abandonment, longing for a friend.
The insomnia hits me like the harsh cold air. My heart is beating out of my chest. Everyone is scattered all over the cabin. Eddie is soundly asleep next to me. So peaceful. I smile at my peaceful metalhead. As if nothing is going on. I can’t help but to think of what had just occurred.
Henry using my trauma against me. Disorting Eddie, the boy I fell in love with just a year ago, with the voice of Walter, my estranged father. The one person who I loved so dearly, only to be abandoned by. I can’t even imagine how Max is feeling right now. The fact she’s still grieving Billy. She feels like she should’ve died with him. My heart aches for her. Which somehow brings me back to my situation. How would he know of my situation with Nancy? It’s as if he’s in my mind.
“You also, don’t know what you want.” His taunt echoes through my mind. I try to make sense of it. What could he possibly mean by that? It’s obvious I want Eddie. Always. Sure, I loved Nancy a long time ago. It was so long ago. What could he mean? It would crush Eddie if I told him, “hey, just fyi, that thing with Nancy… yeah I loved her!” Yeah, that would crush him.
I yearn for normalcy, I miss him so much. I look at the clock on my side of the bed. 12am, March 23, 1986. Happy anniversary, darling. I sit up and examine the room, making sure everyone’s okay. Eddie, of course, is sleeping next to me. Dustin and Steve are huddled together on the floor while Nancy and Robin sleep at the table with the files scattered. Probably dozed off researching there’s to know about the Creel family. Then, my eyes scan the most heart stopping sight. Max and Lucas.
Lucas, I’m pretty sure, put a blanket over Max. Max possibly fell asleep writing a letter judging by the pen and paper in her hand. Who could it be for? For Lucas? You can cut the tension between those two with a knife. Lucas cares about her deeply and Max reciprocates those feelings.
I get up finally, putting on a sweater and wrapping around the clothes I have yet to change out of. After everything, I was too exhausted to care. The light scent of weed and old spice hits my senses as I put on my boots. I walk outside and cling to the wood.
I take the first deep breath I’ve been able to in the last couple of days. No lightning and red clouds in sight. No vines slithering to catch you and take your life away. Comfort hits me as I breathe in the chilly midnight Hawkins air.
I hear the door behind me open then shut. The scent of weed and Old Spice intensifies as does my comfort. It’s the person I need most. I turn around to meet Eddie’s tired gaze. I immediately take notice he doesn’t have a jacket. “Where’s your jacket?” I manage to slip as I scurry to him. My arms wrap around him, as if to keep him warm. His arms wrap around me, as if it’s been ages.
“I’m okay, sweetheart. How about you? How are the guys?” I chuckle and smile up at him. “I’m okay… now that I’m with you. Not some hallucination… as for the guys, Gareth is explaining everything we know. About Vecna, well, Henry, since we’re in cahoots apparently.” I attempt to make light of the situation. Eddie strikes my cheek. “We’re not going to let that bastard get you, or Max.” He whispers deepens.
The corners of my lips form a smile. “Do you wanna go for a walk?” I softly speak, “to Lover’s Lake? It’s not far.” The corners of his lips form a smile as well. “Our old spot? I would be delighted to.”
Eddie grabs my hand gingerly and we make way for the lake. “Are you sure they’re going to be okay?” Eddie asks. “Positive. The cabin is pretty secluded by trees. Also, Reefer Rick’s is close by. I figured we could swing by too.” “That sounds amazing.” Eddie says as we continue our little adventure.
As we approach the lake, which is glistening in the distance, Eddie asks what happened. “When I was under his trance, I was talking to you… but he had Walter’s voice. It was… chilling…. I-I knew it wasn’t you. He just taunted me. About my father, about you… about…” I stammer off, trying to avoid his gaze, thinking about Nancy.
“Rox, darling, are you okay?” I begin to shake a bit looking into his darkened chocolate eyes. “Nancy… Eds… I need to tell you something.” We near Reefer Rick’s. “But first, let’s get inside.” We walk in to where the boats are. Eddie climbs into one and helps me into one. I smile at his gesture. The water is calming. Eddie holds my hands. “What’s wrong, sweetheart?”
I grip on his hand tightly as I look around, as I hear ruffling. “Remember when Nancy and I stopped being friends? How I’d long for that friendship back? How I’d be jealous of Harrington?” I begin to speak softly, like a little kid. “Yeah.” He matches my tone. Here goes nothing.
“I liked Nancy… like, I was in love with her. I was infatuated by her… Obviously those feelings for her are long gone. I’m with you and I’m in love with you. I love you. I just… I don’t know what took me so long.”
The way the vulnerability slips out. It feels so good, but also terrifying. I can tell by the look on his face he’s taking this in. The way his eyes flicker between realizing what I mean and taking it in. Now, he’s the one gripping my hands tightly. “Eddie…” I say in a hushed voice, scared for what’s to come out of those luscious lips.
“I love you so much, sweetheart. Not a damn thing could ever change that. Ever. You’re still the same girl I swore to protect in the cafeteria last year.” I smile as he strokes my cheek and his hand rests easily on my thigh. “And you’re the same guy that swooped in to protect me.” I rest my hand on his hard chest, where his beating heart is threatening to jump out. “I love you.” I say hushly before our lips reunite.
Eddie tightens his grip around me and our lips dance. It’s electrifying. The kiss. We’ve been longing all day for it and it feels like the world is semi-right again. “I love you so much sweetheart. We’re going to kill Vecna. Whatever it fucking takes. I can’t lose you.” I rest my thumb on his bottom lip and hold his chin. “Didn’t you make that clear? You are not going to lose me, got it? We’re going to save Max, this shit town too. Then, take over the world when Corroded Coffin makes it big.” Eddie chuckles. “That’s my girl.”
We continue to kiss and my fingers tangle in his hair, that is until we hear car doors slamming. Eddie and I stop and share a confused glance. “What was that?” I whisper as I grab an oar that’s behind me. I squint to see if I can catch it, but nothing. I watch as Eddie tenses up. I hear male voices saying something I can’t quite make out. That’s not until they come closer and it’s clear. “HE CAN BE HERE!” “AND THAT SMOKING GIRLFRIEND OF HIS TOO.” “WHEN WE GET THEM, THEY’RE DONE!” Panic sets in as Jason and his goons approach.

Opening his eyes and readjusting to the light that seeped into the bedroom, he gently places a kiss on his 4 year old daughter's forehead who was sleeping in between the two of you. Elsie had woken from a nightmare just after midnight so you and Tom gladly let her sleep with the two of you.
He quietly gets out of bed, stretching his limbs before coming to your side where he placed a kiss on your forehead, muttering a good morning as you gently smile, still half asleep.
Reason for Tom being up so early on a Saturday morning was because he had an interview at home for the upcoming episodes of Billy the kid. He got ready as quietly as possible, trying not to disturb his girls before he walked downstairs to make a cup of coffee before the interview started.
Tom cringed at the loud noise the coffee machine was making as he glances to the stairs leading upstairs. Walking back upstairs with a cup of coffee in one hand to wake him up more, he slowly turns the door handle to your shared bedroom and peeked his head in.
A soft smile making it to his lips at the sight of you and Elsie cuddled up to one another, fast asleep. Tom then walked down further down the hallway to his office where he shut the door. He set up his computer and in a couple of minutes, started his interview that was planned to go for about 30 minutes to an hour.
Just a couple minutes after Tom started his interview, Elsie had stirred in her sleep. The absence of her dad beside her made her more alert as she sits up on the bed, her head turning every which way to see if Tom was in the room.
You were still fast asleep. Elsie let out a little whine, her stomach rumbling in hunger as she rubs her eyes and decides to get out of bed. She looks around the room, checking the closet and the bathroom and there was still no sign of Tom.
Going on her tippy toes, Elsie opens the door and cheers up when she hears her dad's voice coming from the door at the end of the hallway. She ventures out and opens the door to the office.
Elsie stood at the door, slightly confused as to what her dad was doing as he had headsets on and was talking. "Sorry Tom, I'm going to have to stop you there- uh your daughter is at the door-" At her words, Tom whips his head around and sees Elsie there, in her cute little pjs and her brunette hair all over the place.
"Sweetheart, what is it?" He takes his headphones off to hear his daughter, his mic still on. "I'm hungry, mumma is still sleeping," She frowns. Tom looks to his computer, "I'm so sorry Lisa, could you give me a moment, I just gotta take care of my girl!"
"No no of course! go for it Tom!" The lady chuckles as Tom gives her a grateful smile before he gets up, scooping up Elsie in his arms. The second he walks out the door, you walked out the door as you look at the two confused.
"I thought you had an interview to do?" You chuckle as you caress Elsie's cheek who was still in Tom's arms. "Yeah, I'm in the middle of it, Elsie came in saying she was hungry," He chuckles as your eyes widen as you look at him.
"I didn't want to wake you up mumma," Elsie says as you melt at her comment, " It's okay, baby," You cooed as Tom let's her down on the ground. "Go, go back to your interview I'll make breakfast for us all," You shoo him away but not before he quickly steals a kiss from you.
After the interview finished, Tom walked out the door and the scent of pancakes wafted in the air as he felt his stomach automatically rumble. Walking down the stairs, he could hear soft giggles making him smile.
"Smells good," Tom says as you and Elsie look over to him, Elsie quickly getting out of her seat and running to her dad who lifts her up. "How did the interview go, darling?" You smile as you flip a pancake, "Good, it went great," He comes up behind you, pressing a kiss on the side of your head.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN IS LIVE! Also, since this week is Christmas, I will not be posting Chapter Nineteen until after the New Year! So, be on the lookout Jan 3rd, 2024!!!
‘86 // Chapter Eighteen: Vecna’s Game (Part Two)
The night of March 22nd, 1986
MAJOR TW: daddy issues, the abandonment comes to light, angst. Mention of Billy.
Roxie’s POV
Eddie and I continue to stand off. I look at him in absolute disgust. He’s got vines going awol and his overall demeanor is haunting. I know it’s not him, obviously, but it sends tingles down my spine. Eddie with Walter’s voice. I know it’s Vecna, but what the fuck? He wants to play his game and I’ll play along.
“Walter is not my father. He abandoned me when I was ten. I can speak to him however I’d like.” I shakily state before I slowly start to look around. I spot the bat, thanking god it’s here with me. “Really? Daughter’s shouldn’t be like that.” Suddenly, Eddie morphs into Walter as I shake. My stomach drops at the sight of who was once my father. I watch in masqueraded terror as the vines start moving slowly towards me.
“Henry…” I try to reason with the entity. “Whatever you are… Please leave me alone. Leave us alone.” I feel for the bat as he approaches me menacingly. “You and Dustin ruined my life.” Walter growls. “I never wanted you. Your mother begged and begged.” I grip on the bat as my fingers wrap around it, my palm grasping it. I continue to take deep breaths as he edges closer to closer. “It took you this long for you to say that?” I challenge him. “That you didn’t love us? You thought you’d be better without us? Guess what?” I grip the bat tightly. “We’re ten times stronger.”
I start swinging the bat. I go for his vines and start running for it. He snarls in pain, still spewing words. “Roxie Gracie.” He taunts as I make it to the door. I unlock it and bolt out into the red atmosphere of Vecna’s lair. Two can most definitely play this game. As I run, I can hear him viciously thrash around. “He was right to leave you, you know.” He snares. I continue to bash his vines in, slowly running out of time. “Not only are you worthless… You also don’t know what you want.”
I hit another vine, then trip on another, losing the bat’s grip. I brush everything off and catch my breath. I look behind me, seeing Walter with vines coming achingly slow. “C’mon guys.” I think to myself and I run once again. What could he mean by not knowing what I want? Could he be referring to Eddie? Nancy? C’mon guys, play the goddamn song!
“You are one tough pill to swallow, I will say.” He says as a vibe snatched my leg. I get dragged into the ground and pulled onto a tree, screaming in terror. Fighting everything. This would be the PERFECT OPPORTUNITY. I brace myself as I’m face to face with him. He’s still masquerading as Walter. “Wanna change into something more.. Flattering? Let’s say, your true form?” I continue to challenge him.
“Oh, don’t you love to see your father?” He bites back as his grip tightens. “He’s skipped out for most of my life, I’m used to never seeing him.” I snarl. My hands wrap around the vine around my neck. “We’re going to destroy you. Me, my friends, my brother. We are going to end you.” “Not before I get you first… or, maybe this is a warning.” He covers my mouth with one of his vines. I scream in full force now. “No, no. PLEASE!”
In the distance, I can hear the familiar guitar riff. “Rhiannon.” I start laughing, which confuses Henry. I get strength as his vines weaken around my arms and legs. I rip them off of my body and my mouth. “What?” He asks absolutely flabbergasted. I snicker at his shock as his vines leave. “Better catch me if you can.” I taunt him before grabbing my bat quickly.
I bolt once again, hitting whatever is in my path. The boulders fall around me as Stevie saves me. I see a glimpse of everyone, including me. “Would you stay if she promised you Heaven? Will you ever win?” Stevie sings faintly as I approach the scene. I look back as I hear Eddie, begging. “C’mon Rox, I need you.” And Nancy holding my other hand. Luckily, I’m not levitating. I’m coming to you guys.
I see Vecna’s vines in my peripheral vision. “Taken by the sky… Taken by the sky.” Stevie serenades as I leap into reality, making my grand exit. You will be destroyed Henry Creel. So long, Walter.
******
“C’mon Rox, I need you.” I shout frantically as I hold Roxie’s stiff body. “The song is almost done, she hasn’t come back. What happens if she doesn’t? I can’t live without her. She’s my world! I… I can’t…” I start hyperventilating as Dustin comes to my aid. Nancy holds Roxie’s other hand. “Ed’s, it’s going to be okay, okay? It’s Roxie. She’s the toughest woman I know. She’s a fighter.” “I just can’t lose her again.” “Again?” Dustin asks as everyone looks at us stunned.
“I had a dream, a nightmare, last night. It was of Rox, in a similar stance. I couldn’t save her.” “Eddie.” Nancy speaks softly. I look over at her. “We’re going to get her back no matter what. I know I haven’t been the greatest friend to her, but, I just know she’s going to come out of this! Dustin’s right, she’s a fighter. She’s got this.”
My arms tighten around her as she comes to and collapses. Everyone gathers around us. She curls up to my body trying not to freak out. “It’s okay, sweetheart, I’m here.” I stroke her hair and move her bangs out of her beautiful brown eyes. “Everything’s okay.” I coo. She looks around. “That was the scariest, trippiest thing ever.” She mumbles, taking deep breaths, looking at Max worryingly
“He showed you Billy didn’t he?” Roxie asks her. “Yeah… he said I wanted Billy to die. That I wanted to follow him.” Roxie closes her eyes and seemingly takes it in, rubbing her face. “Jesus.” Robin chirps. “What happened, sis?” Dustin asks Roxie. She looks around at everyone terrified, except for Nancy and I, much to our confusion. “Our father, Walt… God fucking dammit.” The squeaks before going to hug Max. “What did he say?” Steve asks. Roxie turns around, with her arms around Max, looking all around. “Let’s just kill this sick son of a bitch.”

HI ALL! CHAPTER SEVENTEEN IS LIVE! ♥️
‘86// Chapter Seventeen: The Dungeon Mistress
Tw: mentions of abandonment, Vecna’s a bitch.
The evening of March 22nd, 1986
“Gareth!” I yell as we get out of Nancy’s station wagon. “Hey! Is everything okay?” He asks concerned as we approach him in his garage. Jeff and Dougie are in the corner, absolutely startled. “The real question is are you okay? Jason punched you really hard.” I say examining his forming black eye. “Yeah, just really sore. Rox, don’t worry about me. Are you okay?” He asks as I look over at Robin, and especially Nancy, yearningly.
“Yeah… something happened. The police now suspect Eddie. I went to my house to go see my mom and get more clothes… it was so unsettling, dude. My dad sent a birthday card and I’ve been down this spiral. With everything going on. I’m scared I could be next. Max, the redhead that’s friends with Dustin and Mike, could be next too. We don’t know. I’m just really concerned and nail this mother fucker in the ass. All I know is, it changed the trajectory of my plan.” “Rox, I’m so sorry!” We hug and I make eye contact with Nancy and she’s worried.
“What do you need us to do?” “Get the boys over here.” I say as I motion for the girls. “GUYS!” Gareth yells. Jeff and Dougie run in and we engage. “Hey Rox.” Dougie says as I wave. “Hey! We have a big favor to ask you.” I say as we huddle around in a circle. “What’s up?” Gareth asks across from me. “We need someone to hide the van.” I say looking at the guys, then Nancy. The guys look at Gareth then me.
“What? Why?” Jeff asks. “We can’t explain right now, maybe soon. Listen, there’s something very major right now. Something major we cannot explain right now. Let’s just say we can use Eddie’s van anymore. Gareth, is there any way you can keep it in your garage? You’re Roxie’s wingman in this.” Nancy asks as we wait for an answer. “Yeah, my parents are out of town for break. It’s quite possible they don’t even know about everything. Plus, anything for family. I will protect your secrets with honor.” Gareth states as Jeff and Dougie look at the group clueless.
“What is going on?” Dougie asks. “Guys, I’ll explain later. In the meantime, we have to help our Dungeon Mistress and Dungeon Master.” Gareth says nodding at me. “You got it. We’re in.” “Always.” I get relieved with the girls, almost getting emotional. “So, what’s the plan?” Gareth looks at Robin, Nancy and I. I look at the girls on both sides of me. “Well, for starters, we got these.”
Nancy takes out three walkie talkies. “These are for you guys. You can communicate with Roxie and Eddie. Roxie originally was going to drive all over town to distract everyone, but that changed. She can’t do it. However, she extremely trusts you guys.” “Basically we’re saying you’re her little army.” Robin states. The guys look at each other. “C’mon guys. I know if it came down to it, you’d kick Carver’s ass. I totally would.” I say as the girls agree, Nancy is smirking at me.
“Well, I’m ready for part two.” Gareth says as he cracks his knuckles. “Hell yeah! That’s what I’m talking about.” I say high fiving Gareth. “Fuck it. I’m in. Gotta protect the Dungeon Master and Mistress.” Dougie states. We all anticipate Jeff’s answer. Nancy and I look at each other nervously. C’mon Jeff. “Let’s fucking do it.” Jeff says as we all cheer. We start to notice how dark it’s getting. “Okay guys, first step. Drive around town and distract everyone okay? We don’t need the police in our trail.” I say. “And knowing how good you guys are, y’all can do it.” I encourage.
“What else would we do?” Dougie asks. “Protect Roxie at all costs…” Nancy says as Robin nods in agreement. “How so?” Gareth asks. “Beat Carver’s ass. He’s obviously in love with me. Not to mention, he wants to avenge Chrissy’s death. Since he thinks Eddie did it, he’d probably want to harm me. To get back. I can absolutely beat his ass, for sure, I have a bat. However, we have to protect Eddie too.” “Right, also? I would love to see you give Jason a taste of his own medicine.” Gareth laughs.
“Do you guys know Roxie’s favorite song?” Nancy asks as she pats my shoulder then rubs it. “Why would we need to know?” Gareth inquires. “Remember that thing I told you about?” Gareth immediately understands and nods. “It’s ‘Rhiannon’ by Fleetwood Mac right?” He asks and the three of us girls nod. “All you need to know is you need to play it if she starts looking like she’s in a trance… or levitating.” Robin states. Gareth doesn’t flinch but Jeff and Dougie look lost.
“I’ll explain everything later. It’s getting late and I’m sure Eddie is worried sick.” Gareth says as we agree. “If anything happens, we’ll radio you. Go straight to the cabin.” I say to them and they agree. Nancy and I look at each before gearing up to leave. “Wait Rox, come here real quick. Just to go over the plan.” Gareth says as I approach him.
“Yes, Gareth The Great?” I ask as I stand in front of him. “Has anything happened with Wheeler yet?” He whispers as I shake my head. “No. Although, she did remember what happened with my father and ‘Rhiannon’ being my favorite song.” “That’s a lot to remember for not being best friends for so long.” I laugh. “Shut up!” He hugs me. “You better get going. Eddie is definitely worried I’m sure. Good luck!” “Thank you. We’ll radio you if anything happens.”
*******
I burst into the door of the cabin, startling everyone. “ROXIE!” Dustin exclaims as I bolt into Eddie’s arms, which quickly envelop me. “Hey sweetheart. Are you okay?” He asks as he looks down at me, extremely worried. “Mom locked me inside my room… she thinks you killed Chrissy and Fred… possibly Max and I.” Eddie’s eyes widened. “What?” He questions as everyone looks frightened.
I keep seeing Walter in everyone. I don’t know if it’s my past coming to haunt me but he sent me a birthday card, made out to ‘Roxie Gracie’. I didn’t want to worry you, or anyone. I’m so fucking scared.” Dustin comes up to me frantically and hugs me. “Rox, it’s the anniversary of him leaving too. Are you okay?” I hug my brother tightly. “To be honest. I’m terrified. I’m scared for your safety. Which is why I brought these.” I pull out his clothes out of my bag.
“Mom locked me in my room and is possibly looking for me. You are not going back there, okay? Not until we clear Eddie’s name and save Max’s life.” Eddie’s hand rests on my thigh as I look at Max. “What about yours?” Eddie asks as I look into his sad doe eyes. “Then we nail this mother fucker.” Eddie pulls me in by my head into his chest. “Your van is also at Gareth’s…. I had to tell the guys.” “Rox, why would you do that?” “Because she needs a team right behind her, Jason is out for blood. Yes, Rox can protect herself. But Gareth really wants to beat the shit out of Carver.” Nancy defends me. “I’d pay to see that.” Dustin says laughing a bit.
I look over at my Dungeon Master. “Think of it as my first campaign. My first solo campaign.” We hold hands. “I just want you to be safe, darling. I don’t want Carver’s grubby hands on you.” “Don’t worry? He won’t lay a fucking finger on me. I’m the Dungeon Mistress, remember?” I say looking over to the group planning.
“Are you sure you’re okay, hun?” He asks rubbing my thigh. “Yeah, I think so. Now that I’m back here, with you. It’s just Walter is trying to come back and I won’t let him. He hurt mom, Dustin and I. Fuck that guy. As for my mom, she’ll come to her senses. Once we clear your name, she’ll understand.” I state uneasily. “Did you bring more things of clothing?” I smile. “Yes. And these.” I reach for my scrapbooks.
I sigh at the sight of them in my lap. “Photography has been my escape for the longest time. It’s what kept me feeling safe, until you came along.” I smile more at my metal head. “A lot of your past is in there I’m sure.” Eddie feels the leather material of one book. “That’s the Hellfire Club one. It’s not finished just yet. However.” I grab the mint green one. “This one definitely has my story. It has a lot of Barb and Nancy.” I look over at Steve and her in envy. “Before Harrington.” Eddie also looks over at them. “I thought you were cool with Steve?”
I crack up. “I am… I just…” Suddenly, things become disoriented. “Just what Roxie Gracie?” Eddie speaks in a menacing tone. “Eddie…” I jump up so fast and frantically look around. Everyone but Eddie had vanished. “Fuck.” “Watch your language, Roxie Gracie. Don’t want daddy to punish you.” Eddie gets up and we stand off. “You’re not Eddie.” I shake my head as I rationalize. “I know who you are, Henry.” I challenge him. “Oh sweetheart.” His voice becomes more disoriented before it changes to an unfortunately familiar voice. “Don’t talk to your father that way.”

HEY YALL!!!!!!!!! How has your week been? What about Thanksgiving if you celebrate it? Love yall!
Chapter Sixteen: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Tw: mentions of abandonment
Evening of March 22, 1986
“Anybody? Please.” I plead as panic begins to conquer my brain. I try to take deep breaths, four in, four out. Think happy thoughts. About Eddie, about getting the fuck out of Hawkins. They turn out to not work as I feel the walls caving in. I look at the walkie talkie in my hand losing all hope. “Why would my mother do this?” I ask myself. Suddenly, the walkie talkie makes noise. “Roxie, are you there?” A familiar voice speaks. It was Nancy!
“Nancy! Oh my god….” I say in disbelief, yet excited. “No… my mother trapped me in my room… I need help.” I quietly plead. “Okay, Robin and I are on the way.” “Let me talk to her.” Robin says. “Hey Rox, remember how your window unlocks from the inside?” That’s it. My window! How did I not think of that? “Robin, oh my god. Thank you!” I remember another thing. “What about Eddie’s van? Surely everyone knows what it looks like.” “I’ll distract your mother while Robin hooks it to the back of my station wagon. We can probably hide it at the cabin.” “Yeah Rox, we got this.”
“Okay? How far are you?” I ask looking at my door, fearing my mom can hear the conspiring somehow. “About five minutes. Be ready.” Robin says as I gather my things. I noticed my mom had accidentally put some of Dustin’s clothes with mine. “Sorry mom.” I say softly as I pack another bag with mine and Dustin’s clothes. Can’t have him deal with the same fate I’m dealing with. I even stash my scrapbooks in my bag. My camera. I see headlights approaching and smile, knowing it was Wheeler and Robin. “Thank god.”
I hear the doorbell ring and a cheerful “coming!” emerge from my mother. “Oh! Nancy!” She gleefully greets. “Hi Mrs. Henderson!” I can hear Nancy faintly work her magic as I unlock my window and throw out the duffel bag full of clothes and my scrapbooks. I smile back at my room. “Sorry mom, you’ll understand someday.” I say before jumping out of the window and landing on all fours. I look around and see if anyone hears. No. Thank fucking god.
I crouch down and speed to the back, which is luckily on my side of the house. I spy Robin, Nancy’s car and Eddie’s van and squeal in excitement. Eddie’s van is hooked to the back. I wave at Robin as I jump in the back of the car and toss the bag in the trunk. Robin then climbs in the passenger seat. “Rox, are you okay? I cannot believe your mom did that to you.” “Well, she is very influenced by what the TV tells her. It would make sense.” “I’m just so happy you’re safe.” “Me too…. Oh shit, Wheeler’s coming!” I hide by laying down in the back.
“Bye Ms. Henderson! Stay safe.” “You too, Nancy.” Nancy climbs in her passenger seat and starts the engine. She turns the car around with the van attached. She’s making sure to be careful. God, I hope my mom doesn’t see this. Relieved, we’re on the road and I lift myself up and I buckle up. “Hey Rox.” Nancy calmly says as she keeps her eyes on the road. “How are you feeling? Are you okay?” She continues as Robin looks back at me.
“Yeah, I think I’m okay… am I hallucinating or are y’all dressed to impress?” I ask, referring to their preppy school girl outfits. “Oh! We went to Pennhurst to get answers. We may have found a way to save lives!” Robin gets excited as Nancy looks at me in the mirror.
“Oh? What did you find?” I ask as I move more freely, checking to see if my walkie talkie is still in my hand bag, check. “Well, his son, Henry, could be Vecna!” Robin gets even more excited. “What?” I look at them both clueless. “The thing that’s after Max, Vecna, killed his family. Basically, when they moved to Hawkins, his family loved it. However, only Henry despised it. So much so, that slaughtered animals would appear around the property and the family experienced nightmares and visions. The entity would kill Victor’s wife. He would try to escape with his daughter and son, only to be stopped by a vision. Henry and his sister ended up dying. When we were being escorted out, ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’ was playing and Robin made a revelation.”
“Music can reach the brain the way that words can’t. Music is a lifeline.” I smile at her revelation. “Music is a lifeline. That’s genius!” I congratulate her. “The song would play in the house, so maybe that’s how we defeat Vecna and save Max.” I smile at the remark, only for it to fade away quickly. How do I tell them I thought I was going to get killed? With the nightmares of my father. The headaches. Sure, I can definitely say it’s abandonment issues, it’s so easy to blame it on that. But, I have to play it safe. “Guys.” Here goes nothing.
“What’s wrong?” Nancy asks as Robin looks at me concerned. “Are you okay?” Robin asks as I sigh. “I thought I was going to get killed earlier…” “… What do you mean?” Nancy suddenly pulls over on the side of the road and the girls look at me scared. “I mean, I’ve been having nightmares, about my dad. Headaches too. I keep seeing him everywhere. I can say it’s the trauma from him leaving, but.. I got a birthday card from him made out to ‘Roxie Gracie’.”
I tearfully watch as Nancy gets worried as Robin watches confused. “What’s ’Roxie Gracie’?” She asks. “A nickname. Dad would call me that when he was around and it was only him who called me that. I’m sick to my stomach. It felt as if he was there, watching. My mom wasn’t herself either. I can’t explain it, it was definitely harrowing.” It grows silent. “‘Rhiannon’ right?” Nancy asks, breaking the uncomfortable silence. “What?” I ask her bewildered. “Your favorite song right?” She asks. “In case we need to use it.” Nancy turns to me waiting for an answer.
“Yes, it’s still my go-to.” I say shocked by her remembrance of the song being my lifeline. She looks back at the road and back to me, heartbroken. It seems she still remembers us being best friends and me losing my father. “We need to get you back to Eddie-“ “ROBIN! NANCY! CODE RED!” Dustin screams into the walkie. “Yes! What’s up?” Nancy says as the three of us huddle together. “It’s Max! She’s levitating!” Robin quickly springs into action as Nancy drives. “PUT HER FAVORITE SONG ON! Music can save her.” Robin says as I watch Nancy speed along the road. “We’re getting you to Eddie, he’s probably worried.” She says to me. “Dustin, just meet us back at the cabin!” Nancy screams as we jet away.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN IS LIVE! So sorry for the delay!
Chapter Fifteen: The Edge of Seventeen
TW: mentions of abandonment. Roxie witnessed her and Dustin’s dad leaving at a young age. Trauma. Angst.
The late afternoon to evening of March 22, 1986
I open the front door of my house being greeted by the news. It was coverage of Chrissy and Fred, no leads just yet. However, flashes of Eddie’s trailer don’t help. My anxiety peaks as my mother steps into my vision. “Hi darling, are you alright? How about Dustin?” I blink a few times trying to act normal. “He’s okay. He’s at Lucas’…” I begin to trail off as my eyes get stuck on the tributes for the Queen of Hawkins High and Fred flash on my living room TV.
“How was your night with Eddie? Any big plans for tomorrow night?” My face begins to feel cold as “ROXANNE” chimes and echoes through my head. I feel someone grab my hand. “Roxie, baby, are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Mom mimics Robin’s statement earlier. “You feel chilly. Honey, are you sure everything is alright?”
“Yeah… yeah. I’m alright.” I say crossing my arms around my body, playing with my rings in my fingers. “It was fun last night. He made me my own Hellfire Club shirt.” “Oh that’s sweet. He’s such a sweet boy and fits you perfectly. I love seeing you happy.” I smile at her sentiment. “I haven’t seen you smile this much since.. before….” She begins to trail off a bit as I put my stuff down. “Mom.” I rub her arm calmly. “I’m so sorry honey. I just…. It’s amazing to see you smiling again. It’s beautiful.” I smile. “I get it from you.” I smile at her and she smiles back.i give her a hug and she hugs me back.
As we embrace, I eye an white envelope with “Roxie Gracie”, my stomach immediately drops. I begin to feel the walls spin. “Was he here earlier?” I squeak. “No, he mailed it. I didn’t open it.” I roll my eyes and groan, throwing my hands up. “Why can’t he leave us alone? I mean, he left us…” I can feel the tears start to form. “Like, what the fuck does he want? Is it another stupid birthday card to his little ‘Roxie Gracie’? God I’m almost eighteen. I have a month left.”
I start growing more angry while the same news blares on the tv. “Rox, I know what happened still hurts you, but he’s still your father.” “Not since he left us mom. He couldn’t handle raising two fucking kids. He is such a coward. A grown man would’ve stayed. Walter is a fucking coward.” I share as the lights flicker a bit. “ROXANNE” roams again and the voice, though distorted, becomes clearer who it was. The coward.”
I shake it off. “I just can’t forgive him, mom. Not after he left, without saying goodbye. Not one care for us. No silly birthday card is going to change that.” “Roxie….” “Mom…” She hugs me tightly. And flashes of the night he left come rapidly. The scared ten year old girl. The careless cowardice man. “Daddy, please don’t go. Please.” He looks at me as if he didn’t hear me. “Daddy, please.” He’d bend down to kiss me on the cheek. “I’m doing this because I love you, Roxie Gracie.” He’d pick us his suitcase and then leave without saying a word.
Now, about to turn eighteen in a month, I growl at the memory. “It’s been almost eight years and I vowed to myself I would protect you and Dustin, something Dad couldn’t think of doing… I have to protect you guys… and Eddie…. Oh Eddie.” I feel chills thinking of my metal head. Thinking about what true happiness was. Being with him.
“You’re thinking of Eddie right now, aren’t you?” I nod trying to keep my worry in. “Yeah… I’m extremely worried about him.” “How so?” I look at her confused. “Have you been watching the news?” “I have, but I don’t believe Eddie is a killer. Some crook probably did it.” “Yeah, some crook named Vecna.” I think to myself.
“Thank you, mom.” I start, feeling uneasy but maybe it's nothing. “For what?” I hugged her again. “For understanding who Eddie truly is.” “Well, of course baby. That’s what mothers do. I even folded some clothes for you. They’re on your bed. Go pack some more and spend time with Eds.” She sounds a little too persuasive. “Thank you, mom.” I squeeze her tight. “I love you.” “I love you too.” She kisses my head and looks at me. “My beautiful ‘Roxie Gracie’.”
I stand up and grab my bag slowly as that runs through my head. Fear courses through my veins. “What did you just call me?” I look at her stunned with as much distance as I can. “My beautiful ‘Roxanne Grace’. Roxie, sweetheart. Are you alright?” Her face begins to morph in between Walter’s and hers as my fear grows more. “Yeah… I’m okay…” I go further into the hallway and enter my room, sliding my door shut. I smile lightly looking at the clothes, but also terrified of the imagery I keep seeing of Walter.
Why do I keep seeing him in everyone I see? Why now? Is it because of the lingering thoughts of him leaving? Wait, it’s been eight years since he left. That’s gotta be it. I dig for the walkie in my bag and call out for someone who could understand. “Nance, do you copy? It’s Roxie… I need your help.” I pleaded with her quietly, but there was no response. “Figures.” I scoff while I look at my clothes.
I see old scrapbooks of old photos I took in the past. Ones with Robin, the kids, Steve being a fucking idiot, the Hellfire Club and Nancy. I laugh at how ridiculous our Elf costumes were for our brothers. I spy Barb, looking ever so radiant. “I’m so sorry, Barb.” I say running my fingers along the Polaroid, when I hear the lock of my door activate. “MOM?” I panic as the atmosphere grows dark. I clutch the walkie as I go up to the door and begin to try to pry it open. “MOM!” I bang on it. “Why did you lock me in?” “I’m only protecting you, much like you’re protecting me!” “EDDIE DIDN’T MURDER ANYONE!” I yell. “Sorry, darling. I can’t let you out.” The atmosphere grows darker as I bang on it and continue my efforts. Her sweet, nurturing voice was replaced by a dark, ominous one. “Nancy….” I squeak quietly….. “Help…..”

I’M BACK BABY! Miss me?
Chapter Fourteen is LIVE! I missed yall so much! I hope Halloween was amazing for you. Get ready for more with Roxie!
‘86 // Chapter Fourteen: Total Eclipse of a Heart
The Afternoon of March 22nd, 1986
“We made it.” Lucas says out of relief. “Yeah… Thank god. Hand me my bag really quick.” Lucas grabs the bag from the back and hands it to me. “Jesus Roxie, what did you pack?” He asks as I pull out the walkie. “Snacks, water, pads, tampons, lipstick. The essentials for a girl living in Hawkins.” Lucas seems to find it funny as he chuckles.
“Eddie, baby, do you copy?” I ask talking into the communication device. “Hi sweetheart. I copy. Everything okay?” Lucas acts as a look out for Jason. “Yeah.. we had a situation at Gareth’s… Jason and the Idiots showed up.” I look at Lucas, who I saved from the group. “I did rescue a hostage though.” “Who?” Eddie asks over the static of the walkies. “Hey Eddie.” Lucas shyly greets, while nervously looking at me.
“Well, well if it isn't Sinclair. I see you didn’t last long on the dark side.” Eddie says almost harshly. “Eddie…” I start growing irritated. “I saved him from becoming one of the Idiots officially. Now stop and let him talk.” I hand the walkie to Lucas, who’s clearly terrified of talking to the Dungeon Master. “Um, hey.” Lucas says over the device, Eddie is staying silent. Good boy. “Roxie told me about everything. From why Chrissy was in the trailer, to her death, to Nancy and Roxie reuniting. That had to be awkward. Man, that’s a lot.” “Get to the point, Sinclair.” Both Eddie and I say equally irritated, I feel a headache forming. I grab the ibuprofen from my bag and take it.
“When I was watching the news with the guys, I had an unsettling feeling. The guys, especially Jason, think you did it Eddie. I wanted to get away from them, but they dragged me along. Dddje, they’re out looking for you with their pitchforks. Jason is set on getting justice for Chrissy, to avenge her death.” Lucas says looking at me. “Then that’s when we went to Gareth’s place. I’m so happy Roxie was there. I was hoping Jason wouldn’t see her, until she made her grand exit.”
“LUCAS!” I shout irritated, not wanting Eddie to find out. “Babe, why would you do that? You could’ve gotten hurt.” “More like Jason would’ve when she peeled out.” I try not to laugh thinking about Jason’s reaction. “He was hurting Gareth, what was I supposed to do? Sit there and let him? Hell no. The look on his face was priceless.” “Was he scared?” “Oh shitless. Roxie was so epic!” It’s silent for a brief second.
“Well, at least you two are safe. They didn’t follow you right?” “No, we’re clear.” “Are you at the school?” “Yeah, we’re about to go in and meet with the group. Lucas really wanted to see Max.” I tease the young boy. “Oh you still love her, huh?” “Yeah, he does. He won’t admit it, but he does.” “Ew you two are so gross.” I start laughing. “We’re just fucking with you.” I continue to laugh. “You guys stay safe. Ring me when y’all are done.” “Okay, we will. I love you.” “I love you too, sweetheart.” I look over to Sinclair. “Ready to reunite with everyone?” “Let’s go.”
We go to the back of the van and grab the bat, previously owned by Steve. “So, how are things going with you and Eddie? You must be freaked.” Lucas asks as I shut the back of the van and we make our way to the school. Lucas also notices the bat. “Steve gave you the bat?” He acts shocked. “Yep! Apparently it used to belong to Nancy, but Steve used it when they fought the Demogorgon. Steve gave it to me when we were decorating the cabin. For protection, you know.” We both laugh a bit. “I thought it was appropriate to bring too.” “Smart move.”
Stepping inside the school finally, we turn our flashlights on. “As for Eddie and I, we’re good. He loved the cabin, that’s where he’s at right now. He gave me my own Hellfire Club shirt.” I smile thinking about it, not even thinking of my tone. “Then what’s with the tone of your voice?” He asks as we begin to walk down the hallway, surpassing the cafeteria. “We had a misunderstanding earlier.” “What type of misunderstanding?”
I stop and he stops with me. “The type where I thought Eddie was… doing things with Chrissy… behind my back.” Lucas’ jaw drops. “Cool it, Sinclair. Nothing was going on. Just a deal… I don’t even hate Chrissy, never hated her. I hate myself for thinking Eddie would do that to me. I feel like such an asshole.” Lucas understands this as we continue to walk down the dimly lit hallway. “We all make silly assumptions. Eddie wouldn’t dare to hurt you though, you two are meant for each other. Do you feel that way because of your history with your father? Dustin would talk a lot about growing up without him and how it affected you.”
“Roxanne.” That hushed whisper looms in my ears again. I stop again and look around worried. “Roxie, are you okay?” He reaches out his hand for mine and I snap out of it. “… yeah, I’m fine.” I hug my jean jacket around my body. “I could stop talking about it if you like.” I shake my head. “No, no. It’s ok- did you hear that?” I begin to hear footsteps faintly. “Hear what?” The footsteps get louder. Lucas notices and steps in front of me as I pull out the bat. “Lucas, get behind me.” “No Roxie, I got this.”
Lucas goes in front of me and I follow him closely, ‘cause god forbid something happens. We reach a corner as the footsteps get more distinct. “Ready?” He asks. I get the bat ready. “Yeah, right behind you.” Lucas and I prepare to reveal ourselves to the mysterious footsteps, screaming as they scream back. “JESUS CHRIST SINCLAIR! You could’ve gotten hurt!” Steve says lowering his flashlight. I reveal myself completely to Max and Dustin behind him. “Hey little bro!” I wave at Dustin. I watch Lucas beam over Max as I go up to Steve and Dustin. “I rescued him from a Jason ambush.” “Carver? Are you guys good?” Dustin asks coming up to check on me. “Yes, and I can explain everything.” Lucas says.
We unite with the three and Lucas tells Steve and Max what happened while Dustin takes notice of my wary state. “Rox, are you okay?” Breaking out of my train of thought, as another hush whisper “Roxanne” echoes through the empty halls of Hawkins High. “Y-yeah.” I start gathering my thoughts. “We….. we were at Gareth’s, well, I was… I had to tell Gareth what was going on.” “Roxie Gracie…..” Dustin utters the unbearable childhood nickname once again. “First of all, seriously, don’t call me that.” I groan. “Second of all, calm down little bro, he’s not going to say anything. I trust Gareth completely. He’s my best friend outside of the Hellfire Club. He, in the midst of the conversation, made me realize that-“ I get interrupted by Harrington’s alert, “HENDERSONS!”
Dustin and I go up to the three as Max recounts what she’s gathered. “One thing I’ve noticed is Chrissy would see Ms. Kelley often. I saw her walk out of her office yesterday.” “So, what did you find?” Dustin as Steve and I share nervous glances. “Fred would see her too. I thought maybe Ms. Kelley would have information.” The five of us huddle together to look at Chrissy and Fred’s files.
“They were both suffering from severe headaches. As well as night sweats, sleep deprivation, and nightmares.” My skin begins to crawl as Max recounts not only their experiences but also hers. “Then, I saw a clock chiming in the hallway, a grandfather clock. It was like….” “Like a dream.” Dustin and I say in unison, looking at Max then at each other, concerned.
“Chrissy started having headaches a week ago, Fred a day after her, and myself… five days.” The five of us quickly realize what that means. “I don’t know how much time I have, knowing what they went through, I could die tomorrow.” Max shutters as Lucas and I approach her and Steve and Dustin gather their thoughts. “You are not going to die, okay? We are not going to let that happen. We are going to figure out what Vecna wants and take him out.” I say letting out my inner Joyce Byers. “We’re not going to let him lay a finger on you.” Lucas tells Max, then giving her a comforting smile. I look back at Steve and Dustin, who are looking at the files.
Then, Robin and Nancy burst into the lobby, alarming us at first. Lucas is protecting Max, I stand in front of Dustin, and Steve steps in front of us ready to attack, we calm down realizing it’s the two. “Hi gang.” Robin says with her eyebrows furrowed toward us as Nancy seemingly takes notice of our expressions, primarily Max, Steve, and I. “What’s going on?” Nancy asks, her stare in my eyes intensifies as I avoid her gaze. “Max is next. We figured it out.” Dustin says as Max goes to show them her findings. “What did you guys find?”
“Victor Creel. We found a few articles that said he thought his house was haunted by a demon.” Robin starts, looking at Nancy, who catches sneaking glances at me. “Apparently, he hired a priest to exorcise it, but it killed his family.” Nancy says. “As punishment, he was spared too!” “That’s all?” Lucas says. “Yeah. So far…” Robin says as Steve notices my resistance to look at Nancy.
“Rox, are you okay?” Steve starts to ask and I brush him off, leaning against the lockers a bit. “Yeah… I’m fine.” I search for the keys to the van in my jacket pocket. “I gotta go… I gotta go before people see Eddie’s van… I don’t want you guys to get caught.” I say as I feel someone grab my wrist. I turn for a second, only to see a flash of my father, which startles the shit out of me. “Roxie.” I hear a voice calling out my name. As it becomes clear, it’s Nancy.
I shake my head looking down on her hand on my wrist. “Oh, fuck. Shit. I’m so sorry:” I say, trying to get it together. I get my wrist out of Nancy’s comforting hand. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Robin says quietly as Nancy examines my emotions. Dustin and Steve, being the brothers they are, share glances of concern. I look over at Max, then Robin, then back at Nancy. “I’m fine… I think.. I gotta go. I need more clothes and I’m sure you don’t want to deal with cops.” I give Nancy a small smile.
“Give me a heads up if anything happens.” Nancy utters, reminding me of our childhood, that friendship. “I-I will.” I stutter than glance at Steve and Robin, who get the picture. “I’ll be at the cabin later. See you guys later. You guys be safe.” I walk up to Dustin and give him a hug. “I’ll tell you later.” I whisper quietly before we let go. He looks at me terrified. “I’m telling mom you’re at Lucas’.” “Thanks sis. I love you.” “I love you too.” I walk away feeling Nancy’s eyes still on me, as well as another ghost of my past.
