Hii! Just a quick question. In a tempest, how did Visenya die and why did she die in King's Landing instead of the widely believed Dragonstone?? Love your stories!

Haha the question that I actually sketched out a whole aspect of a tempest for, only to never dive into it! I'm glad someone asked me abt it finally!!!

So the idea is that ghosts can traverse wherever they die. The issue is that the definition of where changes from person to person. Let's say that Lyarra Stark dies in Winterfell. Did she die in the master bedroom, the north wing, Winterfell (the castle), Winterfell (the region), the North, or Westeros? The answer, of course, is all of the above. But how Lyarra defines it is what matters.

It's why Willam and Artos are separated for eternity: Artos thinks his place of death is inside Winterfell, and Willam thinks his place of death is outside of Winterfell. It's also why Willam can walk through the North, but never set foot within the castle, while Lyarra (who thinks she died in Winterfell (the region)) can go from indoors to outside with no issue.

Visenya died upon Dragonstone, physically, but her definition of where she died is, "away from her sister and brother." It's why she is never portrayed within the throne room of the Red Keep (ostensibly where Aegon's ashes were once scattered), and cannot go herself to Dorne (where she believes Rhaenys to be) but can travel between Dragonstone and King's Landing with no problems.

Another four thousand words to write, and I'm HOPING to get to that this week, but Sansa (and Tywin, let's be honest) is going to have to cooperate for that to happen so we'll see if I manage! In some better news, most of the delay was bc I was trying to figure out what to do with Jeyne/Arya/Catelyn/Brienne (i.e. all the women in the Twins), and seem to have that pretty much drafted out so hopefully there won't be any major roadblocks/redrafts coming up xxx

Honestly I think one of my favorite genres to write/watch is when a person wants to step into a new world (new being defined as anything different from the old, not necessarily better but certainly different) but then a tragedy occurs and they fall back on that old scaffolding because, when left with nothing else, they have at least that- and how it is, arguably, a worse tragedy, to take that step backwards in the first place.

Can I speak my truth. I don’t think Brienne is even a little gay. I think she’s a kinsey zero who false positives on everyone’s radar. I think if you dropped brienne into new age 2024 she would get treated as a lesbian in her day to day life but whenever a woman liked her she’d be like. Ummmmmmm I’m really sorry but I don’t. Feel like that. I think she’d give lesbianism the good old college try bc of the direness of her male love life and come down firmly on the side of not attracted to women. I think she is quintessential pnw woman who you think is a slam dunk homerun lesbian based on everything about her who drops the word husband on you. I think she gets clocked on sight and mentions a partner named Jaime which makes people go. Okay. Partner i know that game. Jamie easily the name of a lesbian. Easily. And then she drops the he pronouns and you go. Well. Could still be a weird lesbian. And then Jaime is a business major in a frat with generational wealth. And HE is the kinsey five in the relationship.
