Following on from finishing season 6 of ZR….excuse me whilst I go and cry in a corner over Sam and how much I’ve missed getting the ZR emails but mostly Sam taking a minute to write a note to Five just in case everything goes south whilst taking down Sigrid and the U.K. is blown up and they never see each other again. Even just those short words upon receiving the email made me tear up 😭

After a over year of family things, new medical issues and general lack of motivation….. I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED SEASON 6!!!! 🎉 🎉

Okay I’m really glad that Moonchild was never able to pull a Simon but I’m sad about Veronica, I hope she still is in the audio and if not I hope she returns someday.

And I hope Sam finds out what happened to his sister, both my Five and myself really want that closure for him. Although I immediately twigged that she was possibly in the baby factory as because Sam is immune to the zombie virus, there is a chance his sister is too.

Actually do you guys want to know what the really hilarious thing is? At Sigrid’s end, I was listening to The Final Countdown by Europe on my ZR playlist (season 2’s penultimate missof the same name is the reason it’s on there plus it’s a damn good song!) I didn’t know that it was bu-bye Sigrid today even as I got to the audio clip because I just assumed she’d escape.

Anyway the funny thing is that The Final Countdown is the EXACT SONG I remember I was listening to during lockdown whilst running Something Good, the final mission in Season Two when Van Ark bit the dust.

I guess couples who plot the end of the world together get a theme tune when they die four seasons apart 😂

Anyway I’m so happy I can start season 7 now, I’m excited for what comes next because OF COURSE corpses can now get reanimated via post death infection, we wouldn’t have story if getting the cure was the final problem!

Well, it’s my birthday!

I’m officially slap bang in my mid twenties now 😅 but more to the point, that means it’s also my Runner Five’s birthday!

So I thought it would be cute to show you guys what I imagine what my Five received from Sam when she woke up on her birthday that took place during season 6 and some headcanons:

Five woke up alone to this on her birthday ^

The map is shit, I mean there’s no mystery around where she was going or where she needed to stop but she wasn’t going to say anything. She liked how there was no mystery about it and she was 100% going to humour Sam by doing it properly.

The picture did have a comment on the back of ‘the pink thing is a worm’. But Five teared up when she saw the picture.

One of the stops was Runner 8’s statue which is where Five goes to think. She said good morning to the statue on her way round.

Anyway when she got to the comms shack Sam was there with a huge smile and a ginormous pastry spread picnic for breakfast. Five had no idea how he pulled that off since a) pastry isn’t readily available and b) the comms shack is kind of vital (she later learned they’d set up a back up Comms shack from a old van they used on the run from Sigrid)

Then their friends joined (bringing chocolate cake, this is before the chocolate factory got blown up in season 6) and they opened the presents:

Janine got her a Bletchley Park quiz book.

Jodie knitted her a Gryffindor beanie hat

Maxine and Paula got her a few survival bits and bobs, like a first aid kit and the most recent player handbook for DND.

Baby Sara insisted on giving her a teddy with a orange hoodie on it ‘because it reminds her of daddy’ so if Sam was away from Five all she needed to do was hug the bear. Five nearly genuinely cried at that gift. (Baby Sara is probably in her toddler years in season 6 but I imagine its a ‘Gavin and Stacey’ situation where Baby Sara is now a nickname)

Jamie got her a pair of brand new trainers, he’s the kind of England but he he knows what Five really needed.

Amelia unfortunately got her some cosmetics claiming she looked tired all the time which really rubs Five and Sam up the wrong way because of course she looks tired, she’s a runner!

Brett Valmont even sent her a gift which confuses her, he gifted her the eleventh Doctor’s sonic screwdriver that was used in the show. The actual prop (or one of them).

Peter got her the full boxset of Red Dwarf with special features, and I mean all of Red Dwarf up until the apocalypse started.

Veronica made her a real life working K9 model (lasers not included).

Then Five found out how Valmont knew it was her birthday, Sam had been given by him the actual ring that Catherine Tate wore in the Doctor Who episode The Runaway Bride, the bio damper ring. Sam asked whether he could give it to her as a proper engagement ring for her birthday and he’d agreed.

That is Sam’s present…well part of it, he had commissioned Maxine to work on a special module for Demons and Darkness for Five’s birthday!

So they spend the rest of the day eating cake, and playing DND (although Paula had to take Sara out for a while because restless toddler not good and Amelia excuses herself claiming she’s too good for dnd)

Five has a really good, and more importantly stress free day (well as stress free as playing dnd can get)

She couldn’t have asked for better friends to celebrate with.

My Runner Five finally gets her Shrek 2 hero moment whilst rescuing babies! (Although arguably that happens when she rescues Sam from Ian in season 5) WE GET SAM, FIVE AND JAMIE, THE DREAM TEAM IN THIS MISSION! (sorry Amelia 😂) and genuinely the moment with the babies at the end was super cute.

head-canon: My Five held Sam’s hand from moment Jamie told her to take and go to the left with Sam, only breaking contact, once when they had to dodge the hammer. However Five did break contact it briefly in hesitation after learning what the glass protocol was at which point I kind of imagine Sam grabbed her hand again to comfort her and refused to let go because there was no way he was going to let her potentially die alone even if he died in the process.

Bonus headcanon: since my five and Sam are still engaged at this point. I’m pretty certain that it was on the way to this mission that they asked Jamie to officiate, since now that Moonchild’s out of Five’s head, they kind of want to get married pretty soon after Sigrid is defeated, well that’s their plan anyway.

A short Christmas fic about Five having to rescue Christmas for one little girl in Abel Township.

Can a wedding at Abel really go off without a hitch?

Crossover between Zombies, Run! And The Walk involving a very important document from the ministry.

Also I know I haven’t been on here in two months I lost motivation for zombies, run after the app changed. However the good thing is, I found the motivation again and I hope to finish season 6 before January (which will have only taken a year to do 😅)

I’m back from a month break (I had athletes foot, so I kind of thought I wouldn’t do zombies run until I’d got that almost sorted). And it’s Runners 3, 4 and 5 together again!!! (I loved this mission!)

So due to an hilarious timing, the automated voice informed me of picking up ‘underwear’ immediately after being told to run from the burning zombies so now I’m just imagining this exchange between Five and Peter:

Five: wait, wait, wait! oh, pants.

Peter: what?

Five: pants.

Peter: really?!

Five: 🥺

Peter: FINE! There you go! now, COME ON!

Okay so my phone finally caught up with the ZR update and now ZRX is now on my phone (I had previously just seen the logo and the name change not got the update because my iPhone lags behind a few days with updates sometimes) so I can actually see the new changes for myself.

My initial impression:

1) I HATE the new layout. It took me a while to find where you sync your Zombielink account or where you restore it in case I had to delete the app and reinstall. I HATE IT but I guess I’ll have to get used to it.

2) I couldn’t find my ‘design Abel’ thing (not sure what it’s actually called) and that was because it was so small on the Home Screen. I don’t like this.

3) most importantly I decided to go on my next mission before deleting the mission log after stopping because I can’t actually run/cycle at the moment (as I’ve ended up with athlete’s foot, so whilst I can exercise I’m just reluctant to whilst I get that sorted) just to see if it worked for me since I’ve heard of issues with the app. IT WOULDN’T WORK! Like no sound was coming out, I couldn’t hear Sam’s voice at the start.

Luckily I had seen a reply to this issue from @runner5anna to someone else and I followed their advice and deleted my cache on my iPhone and it worked so I didn’t have to reinstall the app (which I am terrified of doing in case I can’t get my Abel Runners Club sub back which is ridiculous I know)!

So basically if ZRX is broken, and you’re on an iPhone, delete your internet history on safari, and if that doesn’t work reinstall the app. For now. I’m sure they’ll fix it in a future update that you don’t have to do that to play zombies run!

Things I like about the new app because always look on the bright side:

You can now see the voice cast before the mission. I probably won’t click on it in case of spoilers in the future but I like seeing who the voice cast or cast is in a lot of my special interests so that’s fun for me. But that is literally it at the moment. I’m hoping the app will improve at some point.

Ahhhhh!!!!!

Moonchild is convinced Five wants her to take over, and maybe Five does, or at least my Five does as she’s not good at recognising toxic behaviour and Sigrid wants her, and after everything a little bit of her kind of wants to give up, but she knows she can’t. She’s got Sam to think of. Actually I just realised a lot of my Five’s motivation boils down to Sam. Huh.
