they're always bringing experts or activists on the news to agitate about porn and there's a standard script for this that's like "I think sex education is important, I'm not anti-sex, but so much of this porn is violent and misogynistic if not outright illegal, and it's far too accessible to our children"

I want to see someone finally be brave enough to say that the government should just make its own porn for teenagers that accords with community values, so they don't have to go to these shady places to get it. I think the government porn would probably be pretty bad but I would be so eager to hear about the process of designing it. there would be so many stakeholders and consultations. in canada it would have to be bilingual

Continuing to announce the launch of my website. Hi, I made a website it's ms-demeanor.com

I want it to be an organized place where people can find things that I've written. I'm slowly porting over my useful tumblr posts so that people can view them in a more helpful format than "long thread on a website rarely used by anybody except die-hard obsessives."

So far you can see things like what specs to look for when buying a computer, and how to make your computer meaningfully faster.

The Death Book, the De-Googling pamphlet, and "how to write an essay" are linked on the PDF resources page.

The site is a work in progress that I'm continually adding to, and it's set up with the format of "ms-demeanor's blogs but make it wikicore."

I'm not going to stop using tumblr until they drag me out, but I want people to be able to find the stuff I've made on tumblr over the years without having to deal with tumblr's terrible search function.

Things that will make your computer meaningfully faster:

Replacing a HDD with an SSD

Adding RAM

Graphics cards if you're nasty

Uninstalling resource hogs like Norton or McAfee (if you're using Windows then the built-in Windows Security is perfectly fine; if you're using a mac consider bitdefender as a free antivirus or eset as a less resource intensive paid option)

Customizing what runs on startup for your computer

Things that are likely to make internet browsing specifically meaningfully faster:

Installing firefox and setting it up with ublock origin

adding the Auto Tab Discard extension to firefox to sleep unused tabs so that they aren't constantly reloading

Closing some fucking tabs bud I'm sorry I know it hurts I'm guilty of this too

Things that will make your computer faster if you are actually having a problem:

Running malwarebytes and shutting down any malicious programs it finds.

Correcting disk utilization errors

Things that will make your computer superficially faster and may slightly improve your user experience temporarily:

Clearing cache and cookies on your browser

Restarting the computer

Changing your screen resolution

Uninstalling unused browser extensions

Things that do not actually make your computer faster:

Deleting files

Registry cleaners

Defragging your drive

Passively wishing that your computer was faster instead of actually just adding more fucking RAM.
