i have the opposite of that âeveryone is an npcâ mentality people have embraced where iâm instead like. the person next to me in line has someone they canât wait to go home to, the person picking up their mail has felt devastation before, everyone in this grocery store is doing their sunday shopping, maybe the person that just honked at me is having the worst day of their life, my neighbor has doctors appointments and favorite foods and a song they canât stand to hear anymore⌠you are all fully realized complex people and that is overwhelming me on a spiritual levelâŚ

When you first start learning a language the meaning of all of the words that you learn depend entirely on the equivalent word in a language you speak, and without that word to give it a meaning it would just be a random sound to you, but later on you donât need that equivalent word for the new words youâve learned to have meaning anymore and they just exist on their own in your brain without attachment to any other languages and I think that thatâs my definition of fluency, when the words stop depending on another language for meaning in your mind

they should invent a life that is liveable and a sleep that comes easy and a winter that doesn't feel like decay and a spring that doesn't feel like the past and a head that doesn't hurt and a heart that doesn't sit in your chest like a rock and a body that doesn't hate you and a hometown that doesn't make you lose your mind and a university that won't kill you they should invent a me that is normal I think that would be really neat. ok good night I love you

i adored the messiness of femme (2023) like yes it's a queer erotic thriller about a drag queen who is hate crimed by a closeted violent young man and then seeks revenge by starting a relationship with him it's so fucked up and glorious. he's not a 'perfect victim' he ill-advisedly lashes out before the attack and the audience is forced to confront that, he makes a series of questionable decisions in his effort for revenge the affect of that trauma and the dissociation shown by nathan stewart jarret is incredible.he tries to reclaim agency by getting revenge but is anyone really winning??
they also never let george mackays closeted character off the hook he is shown to be callous, bigoted and violent throughout and YET he's also broken, soft and in his own way loving. you laugh at his road man ignorance but the audience also pity him it's so delicious. unafraid to show actual sexual scenes too including messy dom/sub dynamics and quite bloody violence it's just so honest and raw and unapologetically unfiltered !!!!

language learning is such a personal thing that there is no ârightâ or âwrongâ way of doing it. itâs whatever works on bringing YOU closer to YOUR goal.
you want to watch tv shows but donât really care for speaking with others? yay!! no speaking practice needed.
you want to learn quickly for an upcoming trip? yay! text book phrases and simple grammar.
youâre a beginner and itâs been 10 years? 2 weeks? 6 months? it doesnât matter. as long as you are working towards bringing YOURSELF closer to what YOU want to achieve, you have succeeded: you are succeeding; you are doing great.
i find that so much demotivation comes from comparison and/or trying to follow other's advice too closely. if anki decks don't work for you, that's fine! if duolingo works well for you, then use it!
this language learning thing, it should be enjoyed. in the sea full of deceptive polyglot stories and videos on top of videos attempting to understand how to learn languages in "the fastest way possible" sometimes we should sit back and ask ourselves, "when is just learning things, enough"?
with that i hope you all continue working towards your dreams! whether you want to become a translator or just watch a few more movies in your target language, you can do it. i know you have it in you.

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized âstudyâ means âplay with the material in a variety of ways until you understand itâ and not just âread the assigned chapters and do the homeworkâ and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.
