OKAY HOLD THE FUCK UP EVERYONE.
I keep seeing this stupid argument all over the place and I am so fucking done with it. This is literally NOT what happened.
Two things that are wrong with this statement. First of all, this was not Abby’s decision to make, at least not all on her own. Yes, she probably pushed for it and I’ll get to that in a moment, but even then, it was either Jaha or the entire council making the final decision on what to do.
Secondly (and more importantly in my opinion) ABBY DIDN’T SEND THEM DOWN THERE TO DIE. That just goes against canon in every way.
Let’s just go back to the pilot. When we meet Clarke, she’s imprisoned and has one month until she turns 18. We get a vague mention about the possibility of her getting reviewed then, which could (in theory) be a possibility for her to get to live. But the thing is that with all the information we have, it’s naive to think that that’s even an option at that point.
Not only does she know about the system failure, which is why freeing her would be a huge risk for them, but their situation is also so bad already that they desperately need a solution, even if that solution means killing their own people. So why would they ever agree to actually let her live? That’s right, they wouldn’t. And Clarke and Abby both know it.
Remember that scene at the very beginning of the Pilot when the guards come into Clarke’s cell and she panics? Remember her line
”They’re killing us all, aren’t they? Reducing population to make more time for the rest of you.”
That was an actual possibility. That’s how bad it was.
And even though it was never explicitly stated on the show, it is my personal headcanon that it was Abby who proposed sending them to Earth, because really, that’s the best chance at survival they would have had at that point. They were talking about population reduction plans and let’s not kid ourselves here. The first to die would have been the juvenile delinquents. Like Jaha said in the Pilot, they are expendable to them. So yeah, Abby probably proposed the plan of sending them to Earth, but not as expendable “lab rats” (like the others seemed to think of them half the time), but because it was literally the ONLY way for them to at least have a chance to live at ALL. The sky people might have survived if they hadn’t done it, but the teenagers sure as hell wouldn’t have.
Also, just in case everyone somehow forgot: Abby fought like hell for those kids. She truly believed that they were alive. And sure, it probably also came from a place of desperation and denial about her daughter most probably dying down there. But she knew that - however crappy the chances - Earth was still their best bet and they needed to believe that they could survive down there.
So no, Abby did NOT FUCKING SEND THEM DOWN TO EARTH TO DIE. She pushed for the council to send them down because this was the last possibility for the 100 to LIVE, which is also an ACTUAL QUOTE FROM THE SHOW in case you all don’t remember the first season.
“We sent them down to die.” “No, we sent them down to live.”
As for her sitting on a high horse. I don’t think you actually understand her character / the scene if that’s what you take away from last night’s episode. That wasn’t Abby “sitting on a high horse” and “judging” Clarke. It was Abby being completely shaken by the realization that her daughter just let all those people die.
She doesn’t know that Clarke actually tried to find a way out, hell she doesn’t even know the whole situation, cause NOONE FUCKING TOLD HER ANYTHING. All she knows is that Clarke knew.
Abby’s been worried about Clarke’s well-being (both physically and mentally) this whole time. And this is exactly what she’d been afraid of. Because regardless of whether the choice was right or wrong (if there even is such a thing in situations like these), Clarke will ALWAYS have the blood of these people on her hands and it is a huge fucking deal.

WELLS JAHA: CHARACTER ANALYSIS
Tumblr media
Wells was one of the best characters for the short time he was on the show. He cared about all of Skaikru & never hated Jaha for sending him or The 100 to Earth even when it could’ve been a death sentence. While most of The 100 followed Bellamy & believed in whatever the hell we want, Wells strived to make sure all of them could survive & he urged Bellamy to do the same. He also wasn’t afraid to defend himself & others, like when Murphy tried to attack him or shove some other kid into a fire. He also went out into danger on more than one occasion to save Jasper. He let Clarke hate him so she wouldn’t hate her mother for the death of her father & then he immediately forgave her after she realized the truth & apologized to him. Wells was such an awesome character & I would’ve loved to see how the morally grey world of The 100 would’ve changed him as the situations became more difficult & complex. I feel like the one flaws we saw in him was that his love could lead him to recklessness, even to his own detriment. We saw him break the law so he would be sent to Earth to be with Clarke & of course he took the fall for Abby even when it meant Clarke would hate him; what else would he have done for love?
How would Wells have dealt with the Grounders or Mount Weather or Praimfaya? We know in his short time on the show he told Finn to build the walls so The 100 would be safe if the Grounders attacked. We know that he would defend himself & members of The 100 from attackers like Murphy even if it meant a little violence. I also feel like Wells was the most level headed out of Clarke, Finn, & Bellamy which would’ve made him their best chance to create the alliance with the Grounders in the first season.
However we also know that the Earth corrupts & nothing is that easy; I’m sure even Wells would’ve been tested. How would he have been forced to change in a world of war or would he have been able to find the solution that avoided it altogether? Who would Wells have become if he wasn’t murdered so soon?
In the end Wells was one of the most selfless, kind, understanding, loyal, brave, smart, & heroic leaders in the series. He was the ultimate friend that I think rivaled even Monty & Jasper. He was so underrated; I’ll admit that I underrated him too until I started my most recent rewatch but he’s awesome.

Luna vs Clarke: Beliefs on Morality
When we first meet Luna she kinda tries to teach Clarke a few lessons based on her beliefs on morality. She tells Clarke:
“How many lives would be lost to pay for those I would save?”
“The path of violence is a choice.” &
“You believe to defeat an enemy that will stop at nothing, you must stop at nothing. How’s that different than blood must have blood?”
Clarke on the other hand believes:
“Some causes are worth killing for.” &
“When the choice is fight or die, there is no choice”.
I feel like I’m kinda torn between both of their beliefs. If I existed in the world of The 100 I think I would’ve reacted to the flame & war like Luna did. I wouldn’t want to enter a war & kill or become a leader which would inevitably lead to the deaths of others too. I wouldn’t want that on my conscious nor would I be able to handle the decisions that leaders have to sometimes make. I would rather create a little slice of heaven for those that are done with conflict than damage my own mind & enter a warzone.
In the show when it comes to Luna, Clarke tries to convince her that she can still take the flame, become commander, & choose not to use violence or war but Luna knows this isn’t possible. She knows lives will be lost at her hand if she becomes commander & if she decides to take on ALIE because she’ll have to make the hard choices, like the one she made the day of her conclave to kill her brother. Yet she doesn’t want to be violent & take lives to save them. She doesn’t want to be the type of person that’ll stop at nothing to take down her enemies, when her enemies won’t back down. She doesn’t want to abandon her morals to save the human race from ALIE but she knows she’ll have to if she leaves the oil rig; so she refuses to leave to continue the cycle of violence, she refuses to take the flame to become commander, she refuses to continue to be ruthless in the face of her enemies, & she refuses to abandon her morals to side with Clarke & co. In Lunas eyes whether an act of violence was done in self defense, the defense of someone else, or out of vengeance, it’s all blood must have blood & she won’t let herself travel down that path towards violence & I respect her decision to stand behind her beliefs as well as her desire to live a moral non-violent life.
Then on the other hand there’s Clarkes side. Clarke knows that ALIE is ruthless. She’ll torture the human race to force them all to fall in line behind her & in a sense ALIE will kill humanity. Without the memories that make our characters who they are, they become warped versions of themselves & hurt those around them in ways they never would’ve without ALIE; so are they even themselves? Would the real Jackson have let Raven be tortured by ALIE? Would the real Jasper have stabbed Monty? Would the real Abby have let Kane be crucified & tortured Clarke? Would the real Kane have shot Roan with no remorse? If Clarke didn’t shut down ALIE would the human race have even survived at all? In Clarkes eyes, with all that ALIE can take from humanity, she believes it’s more moral to take brutal action if she has to & make the hard calls because at least in the end it can lead to the defeat of ALIE & more lives saved. If Luna won’t take the flame, ALIEs followers won’t back down, & ALIE can’t be reasoned with then what else can she do to save humanity? I mean if she doesn’t make the hard choices the human race will still be tortured & killed, it’ll just be due to her passive inaction. Yet that inaction won’t lead to lives saved & ALIEs defeat in the end. Then everyone that ALIE hurt would’ve been tortured & killed in vain while ALIE would’ve won. When it comes to these brutal decisions, while Luna would view all the violence as blood must have blood Clarke views it as self defense & thinks sometimes there’s no choice but to defend oneself with violent force.
I feel like as I watch the series when it comes to the morals of Clarke & Luna, I tend to be more on Clarkes side than Lunas, even if I would act more like Luna in real life. ALIE needs to be taken down or else the entire human race is at stake & while it’s true that if Luna took the flame she would likely have to take innocent lives, she never thinks about how her inaction will also cause the deaths of innocents too. If she had taken the flame when Clarke first offered it to her then ALIE could’ve been shut down before she was forced to kill Derrick, before Indra & various other Grounders were crucified, before Illian had to kill his family, before Kane had to shoot Roan, before anyone climbed the Polis tower & fell to their deaths. Luna suffered at the hands of ALIE & her followers & with the flame she had the chance to save the rest of the human race from the same fate but she refused to make the hard choice & allowed others to suffer like she did because she wouldn’t abandon her morals & take the flame.
There’s also the fact that Lunas actions in the moment didn’t even fall in line with her own morals since she chose violence to save Adria & when she was faced with an enemy that wouldn’t back down, she refused to back down too & she killed even her own comrades that were under ALIEs control. She could’ve taken the key to the City Of Light but instead she did what Clarke would’ve done & she killed for her cause, which was to save Adria from ALIE & her followers.
In the end there was also a chance that our characters, without Luna, would’ve been unable to defeat ALIE, which makes Luna seem naive since ALIEs followers could’ve come back to Floukru & then Lunas clan would’ve suffered the same violent, torturous, deadly fate that befell them the first time ALIE found them.
All that being said, I think both Clarke & Luna showed themselves to be flawed but both of their beliefs were understandable. Luna shouldn’t have needed to take the flame to save the human race & become commander. She shouldn’t have needed to abandon her morals. However she was the solution that could’ve avoided so much suffering but she refused to come to the human races defense & so this inaction cost lives & suffering too. With Clarke it’s understandable that she wants to defeat ALIE & she won’t let her wreck havoc on the human race forever. It’s awesome that she can make the hard choices, which are sometimes necessary. Yet Clarke can also take shit a bit too far at times & kinda veers into ALIE territory as she tries to force the flame onto Luna & takes away Luna’s choice & freewill.
Clarkes direct actions can hurt the human race but Lunas inaction hurts them too. I think the answer was that both of them needed to compromise. Clarke wanted a fix all solution to the ALIE issue & the war that brewed all of season 3 between Skaikru & the Grounders. She believed that Luna was that solution since she could’ve taken the flame & killed ALIE but then she could’ve become commander & continued blood must not have blood. Luna on the other hand cares about non-violence but she doesn’t want to become commander. What I think Clarke should’ve done is ask Luna to take the flame for 5 minutes, have Luna tell her the kill code, & then let Luna remove it. This would’ve been the best solution for both of them. It would’ve allowed them to defeat ALIE & save the human race without violence but it also would’ve allowed Luna to be free of the flame & the burden of being the commander. Of course it wouldn’t have solved the commander issue or the war between Skaikru & the Grounders but it would’ve shown Luna respect & it would’ve made her a better ally in the future.

unpopular opinion but I actually really like Gina’s character. I mean I didn’t care that much about her relationship with Bellamy but she seemed really sweet. She got Bellamy the Illiad when she visited Mount Weather on a supply run & she listened to Ravens story about how she went rogue on the Ark while working with Sinclair, when both the Blakes seemed so uninterested in what Raven was saying. I actually really liked her friendship with Raven the most.

The 100 S3 Rewatch: Character Accountability
I’ve been rewatching the series & adding up all the ways the characters have been held accountable for their crimes.
I feel like character accountability comes in a few forms. The characters are either banished, arrested, killed, or hurt in some way. However, most of the time accountability comes from call outs either from the other characters who tell them to their face that they screwed up or the narrative calls them out to remind the audience that they did something bad.
Here’s what I wrote about season one.
Here’s what I wrote about season two.
Now let's look at season 3, which PS this is gonna be a really long post.
Clarke Griffin:
Genocide Of MW: Punishment: Called out, hunted, & almost killed. The Grounders call her Wanheda & have a bounty on her to command death. When Clarke tells Lexa, “I don’t betray my friends”, Lexa calls her out & tells her, “but you did; you had friends in Mount Weather.” Titus calls her out before Lexa fights Roan in the conclave & comments, “the Queen's strength is not in doubt. Thanks to you, Heda’s is.” Jasper also calls her out to Monty & comments, “no; screw Clarke. You are both mass murderers as far as I’m concerned.” In Polis Roan holds a sword to her & comments “is that death I hear stalking me? Or just the commander of death.” Bellamy also mockingly calls her the mighty Wanheda & Wanheda the peacemaker & he yells at her “enough, Clarke. You are not in charge here & that’s a good thing because people die when you’re in charge ... you made a deal with Lexa who left us in Mount Weather to die & forced us to kill everyone who helped us. People who trusted me!” Then in Polis, Emerson attacks her & tells her, “I’ve heard what they call you now, Wanheda, Commander of Death... I didn’t destroy Mount Weather. You did. 381 people. 182 men. 173 women. 26 children. Two of them were mine.” Then as Clarke tries to deflect blame to Cage, Emerson tells her, “what’s the matter? You don’t like to be faced with your demons? ... You can kill me Clarke but you can never escape what you did. My pain ends today; yours has just begun.” Titus also comments on Clarke's decision at the mountain when she wants to kill Emerson & he says “did you not wipe out his people for what a few of them did to yours?” Then as Clarke decides not to kill Emerson, she holds herself accountable & comments, “I don’t know if your death would bring me peace; I just know I don’t deserve it.” When Roans ok with Ontari hacking the heads off kids, Clarke calls him out but he returns the favor & comments, “that’s it; kind of like killing every man, woman, & child in Mount Weather was best for yours.” Then as Clarke reunites with Jasper he tells her, “you really are the angel of death aren’t you”, “I saved your life; it's more than you deserve”, & when Abby lets Skaikru shoot at her he comments, “I can see the appeal.” Then Raven/AIEs tells Clarke, “guess he [Jasper] doesn’t forgive you for murdering his girlfriend” & “everywhere you go, death follows. You always wanna save everyone but what you don’t realize is you’re the one we need saving from... you can hide behind the selfless martyr act, but we see you for what you really are, poison to anyone who gets close.” Later as Clarke watches over Raven, Jasper calls her out to Bellamy & comments, “guess she thinks Ravens worth saving; lucky for her.” After Raven/ALIE taunts Clarke, Jasper then comments “truth hurts, huh?” Yet Clarke apologizes to him for Maya’s death & Mount Weather, thus taking accountability but Jasper tells her to shove her regret up her ass. Then Emerson returns, points a gun at Clarke, tells her to get on her knees, & comments, “you murdered 381 people. You took away the lives of my children, my brother, my friends. Did you really think that I would be happy with just one life in return? Now you’re gonna feel what I felt.” Then he tells yells at her, “beg me to stop; I told you to beg!” Plus he yells at Clarke not to say his son's name. Then he tries to choke Clarke out & almost kills her before he stops himself because he wants Clarke to watch her friends die first. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Attempted Murder: Clarke almost drowns Roan & stabs him as he tries to take her to Lexa. Punishment: Almost killed. Roan drowns her & almost kills her & then holds a knife to her throat as he recaptures her. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Killed Finn: Punishment: Called out. As Abby tries to help Jasper after Maya’s death & she mentions Finn, Jasper comments "your daughter killed him too.” Raven/ALIE tells Clarke, "Finn is dead because you broke his heart & then slid a knife into it.” Then Jasper/ALIE calls her out as he comments, "Finn Collins, death by Clarke”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Abandonment: She left Skaikru at the end of s2. Punishment: Called out & resented. Roan tells her she took the cowards way out. Octavia calls her out when she can’t believe Skaikru voted for Pike & says, “how would you know, Clarke? You haven’t been here”. When Clarke didn’t return to Arkadia after Mount Weather was attacked Bellamy called her out & said “the mighty Wanheda, who chose the Grounders over her own people? Who turned her back on us when we came to rescue you? Now you wanna talk? ... you left me; you left everyone … “ Bellamy also tells Clarke on the beach, “well I don’t need your help”, as she checks to see if he’s ok after Octavia called him out. Then he tells her that he was so angry at her for leaving. Then when Clarke first returned to her friends & backed up Jaspers claims about ALIE, Jasper tells her “I don’t need your help, all right?” He also comments to Bellamy, “you ok with her coming back after all this time? Taking over?” Then there’s a moment after Clarke saves Raven as her stitches come undone & Clarke decides to take first watch but she comments they can take turns, so Jasper yells at her, “you don’t give the orders, Clarke.” Monty also tells Raven that their mission isn’t to hack into ALIE & Raven responds, it’s “to wait for Clarke; like always.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Roans Murders: Roan kills Azgeda scouts after Clarke screams to escape from him. Punishment: Called out. Roan tells her, “their deaths are on you.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Attempted Murder of Queen Nia: Punishment: Called out & assaulted. Ontari throws her onto Nia’s table. Nia tells her they could’ve been allies but now she’ll consider Clarke & Skaikru her enemies. Ontari attacks her later when she comes back & tells Roan, “your mother is dead because of her.” Then when Roan tells Ontari to obey her King she comments, “an unfortunate fact we have her to thank for as well”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Pike’s Massacre: Punishment: Called out. Indra calls her out & tells her, “stay away; you’re one of them.” When Clarke later reunites with Niylah, Niylah tells her, “Skaikru’s not welcome here, Wanheda.” Then as Clarke asks Niylah to trust her, she comments, “after what Skaikru did?” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Tondc: Punishment: Called out. Bellamy calls Clarke out as he comments, “you were willing to let a bomb drop on my sister …” Then later on after Clarke fails to convince Luna to take the flame & wants to find a nightblood even if it means going to random villages, Octavia tells her, “no, Clarke; I won’t help you destroy another innocent Grounder village”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
The Blockade: Lexa formed a blockade so Skaikru couldn’t further attack the Grounders. Punishment: Called out. Clarke wanted to talk to Lexa more about the decision but Octavia commented, “you just did that & came out with a kill order on all of us; that’s the 2nd that she left us all to die”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Lexas Death: Punishment: Called out. Clarke loses Lexa. Then Titus blames her for Lexa’s death & tells her, “you killed her; I pulled the trigger but it was you.” Raven/ALIE also tells Clarke, “hell, I bet you got Lexa killed too.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Trespassing: Clarke & Murphy enter Titus’s temple when they don’t have permission to. Punishment: Called out. Titus calls them out as he comments, “you do not belong here”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Attempted Theft & Disrespects The Grounders: Clarke tries to steal the flame, won’t accept Ontari as commander, & disrespects Grounder culture. Punishment: Called out & shoved. Titus pushes her, gets up in her face, & comments, “you stupid girl! After all you witnessed here, you still think this is just superstition?” Then after Clarke tells him that the conclave is the dumbest succession plan ever when nightblood is so rare, Titus puts his arm against her throat. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Deaths Of Wells & Jake: Punishment: Called out. Raven/ALIE tells Clarke, "Wells is dead because you couldn’t see Charlotte was a basket case ... & then there's dear old dad. Your moms in here with me, Clarke. She tells me you tried to convince him not to go public about the fact the Ark was dying; guess you should’ve tried harder. His blood is on your hands too.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Emerson’s Kidnappings: Clarke spared Emerson & he came back to try to kill her friends. Punishment: Called herself out. She blames herself for his attack & tells Bellamy, “this is all my fault; I let Emerson live.” Then she tells him, “this is my fault; I’m not letting anyone else die for my mistake, okay?” Clarke is also willing to hand herself over to Emerson to die & she tells him he can do whatever he wants with her if he lets her friends go. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Forces The Flame On Luna: Punishment: Called out & attacked. Octavia tells her, “even ALIE gives people a choice”. Then Luna flips her to the ground. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Abby’s Hanging: ALIE has Abby hang herself to make Clarke give up the flames passcode. Punishment: Called out. Abby/ALIE tells Clarke, “ALIEs not killing me; you are”. Then Clarke tells Abby, “I’m so sorry”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
The 100 Deaths: Clarke killed some of The 100. Punishment: Called out. Jasper calls out Clarke's crimes as he comments, "Finn Collins, death by Clarke. Dax, death by Clarke. Atom, acid fog … then death by Clarke”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE CRIMES: She shut down the City Of Light even when it meant some people would die in Praimfaya. She killed Emerson to save her friends. She trespassed on Niylah’s property as Niylah told her Skaikru wasn’t welcome in her home. She also held a knife to Lexa’s throat & almost killed her.
Overall: This season Clarke committed 10 crimes but she was called out a total of 76 times, mostly due to crimes she committed in s1 & s2.
Extras: There were also some other Clarke call-outs/punishments that I didn’t know where to put so I added them here. In Polis, Queen Nia tells her “we don’t recognize the legitimacy of Skaikru.” When Clarke tells Bellamy the Ice Nation paid for their crimes, he tells her, “there it is again; why do you get to decide it’s over?” Then he handcuffs her to a table & tries to hand her over to Pike. Lexa also calls her out when she wants to kill Emerson & comments “so blood must not have blood only applies when it is my people who bleed?” When Clarke defends Lexa, Octavia comments "why am I not surprised that you’re still defending her?” She also tells Clarke if she doesn’t leave before the blockade, "if you’re not there, you’re not the person I thought you were.” Then when Clarke reunites with Jasper as ALIEs followers are shooting at them & she asks about Lincoln he tells her “shut up! I don’t care, okay?” At Niylahs since Clarke lied about Bellamy participating in the massacre, so Niylah would help them, Niylah calls her out & tells her “you didn’t give either of us the chance to find out; just go, Clarke.” Then the Floukru man who takes our characters to Luna comments, “Skaikru, bringers of death. Why should we give you safe passage?” Roan also tries to steal the flame from Clarke & tells her, “you have a real gratitude problem, you know that?” With these extras, Clarke was called out 87 times.
Octavia Blake:
Breaks Into Summit Meeting W/Weapons: Punishment: Called out. Titus calls this out & asks, "what is the meaning of this?” Then the Azgeda delegate comments, “these allegations are an outrage; the Ice Nation never stormed this summit with weapons, breaking our laws, that was the Skaikru.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Pike’s Massacre: Punishment: Called out. Lexa asks Octavia, “your people voted for this?” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Treason/Invasion: Octavia warns the Grounders that Pike is about to invade their village. Punishment: Called out & attacked. Semet calls her out & says “liar; I’ve seen your face. You were at the battle of the mountain. Your guns killed our brothers & sisters, warriors sent by the Commander to keep you safe.” Semet also thinks Octavia’s threatening them, which he calls her out on & he attacks her. Then he calls her out when she realizes the Grounders aren’t leaving but are setting up a weapon, so he comments, “you think you know us? You know nothing, girl.” Then another Grounder knocks her out. One Grounder with Semet also wants to kill Octavia. Hannah also blames her for the mission's failure & Monroe's death as she tells Bellamy, “your sister did this.” Then in Polis Semet tells Lexa that Octavia is a prisoner of war & he brought her to Polis to bear witness to Skaikru’s crimes. The Grounders also start to chant jus drein just daun & death to Skaikru. Back in Arkadia Pike also comments, “whoever did that will be hunted down & exposed for what they did to their own, for what they did to us”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Treason: Octavia worked to save Kane, Lincoln, & Sinclair from execution. Punishment: Called out & lost Lincoln. Pike told Lincoln, Kane, & Octavia as they were escaping, “I have a message for the traitors in this camp. There will be an execution today. Either turn yourselves in, or the other Grounder prisoners will die in your place.” Bellamy also asks Pike what’ll happen to Octavia & he comments, “I know she has to answer for her crimes but …” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: Octavia knocked out Bellamy so he wouldn’t get in her way as she worked to save Lincoln, Kane, & Sinclair. Then she beat him after Pike killed Lincoln. Punishment: Called out. Kane comments, “Octavia that's enough.” Miller also tells her, “stop, that's enough” & he tries to pull Octavia off of Bellamy. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: Octavia holds a sword to Bellamy’s throat when he’s her hostage at the dropship. Punishment: Called out, shot at, & arrested. Pike’s followers shoot at her feet. Kane asks, “Hey, what are you doing?” Bellamy then subdues her & she's handcuffed, shock lashed as she tries to attack Bellamy again, & she’s gagged as she becomes Pikes prisoner. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Attempted Murder: Octavia tried to kill Pike after the blockade ended. Punishment: Called out, kinda. Kane told her not to kill him cause “the Grounders are gonna need him alive; they didn’t get justice for Finn. We won’t get away with that again”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Lincolns Death: Octavia didn’t trust Bellamy’s help & Lincoln died. Punishment: Called out. Bellamy blames her for Lincoln’s death & comments, “I came to you; you didn’t take my help. If you had just trusted me, I …” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assaults & Murders Pike: Octavia slashes Pikes leg as they deal with ALIE & then she kills him. Punishment: Called out. When Bellamy sees that Pike is being attacked because Octavia cut him he yells, “O, what are you doing?” Pike also tells Bellamy, “she cut me” & then he tells Octavia, “I told you, you need to get yourself under control if we’re gonna survive this.” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: Octavia hits a guard to save Clarke from Bellamy. Punishment: Called out. Bellamy tells her, “you can’t just hit a guard.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: She knocks down Indra & almost hits her. Punishment: Called out. Indra comments that if someone as weak as Octavia can put her on her back then she should’ve died on the battlefield of Pikes massacre. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: She attacks Hannah to save Monty & defend herself. Punishment: Called out & attacked. As Octavia attacks Hannah, Monty comments “Octavia, don’t.” Hannah also almost kills her. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE CRIMES: Octavia shoves Miller when he tries to defend Bellamy from her attack. She lets Clarke force the flame on Luna. She trespasses on Niylahs land when Skaikru isn’t welcome there. She kills Gilmer. She also kills a Grounder to save Jasper as he starts to have his throat slit.
Overall: Octavia committed 17 crimes in s3 & was held accountable 34 times.
Extras: Octavia’s also called out a few other times too. Bellamy tells her, "look at herself; it is time to stop playing Grounder before you get yourself hurt.” Indra yells at her to get out of her tent, calls her Sky Girl, & hits her. When our adventure kru meets Floukru, the man that takes them to Luna comments, "Skaikru, bringers of death. Why should we give you safe passage?” Octavia also blames herself & Skaikru when ALIE finds Luna & comments, "this place was safe until we got here.” With these extras, Octavia was called out 39 times.
Bellamy Blake:
Genocide Of MW: Punishment: Called out & hit. Jasper slaps him in the face when he’s drunk & Bellamy won’t give him a gun until he sobers up. Kane comments, “you thought you couldn’t live with yourself after Mount Weather …” Raven/ALIE asks Jasper “tell me, why do you give Bellamy a pass for murdering your girlfriend?” Then she comments, “does it bother you that you don’t get any credit for the genocide at Mount Weather? Clarke gets to be the Commander Of Death but you murdered all those people too & you’re just forgotten.” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Reckless Endangerment & Insubordination: Bellamy takes a depressed Jasper out into the field & breaks protocol to enter Ice Nation. Punishment: Called out, kinda. He admits to Monty that he could’ve said no to bringing Jasper. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Insubordination & Recklessness: Bellamy left the cave where Kane, Monty, Pike, & Hanna were; then walked through the Azgeda army to find Clarke against Kanes orders. Punishment: Assaulted. Roan stabbed him in the leg & he failed to save Clarke, which could’ve killed Clarke. Then Kane wouldn’t let him come to the summit meeting to teach him a lesson. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE

Azgeda Attack On MW: Punishment: Called out. Bellamy called himself out as he resigned from the guard because 49 of the people he swore to protect died. He also told Kane “the Ice Nation didn’t tell Gina to stay there; that was me” & he tells Kane he didn’t save lives. Pike also blames him for the attack & tells him it was his fault. Then Bellamy blames himself further since he vouched for Echo. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE

Pikes Massacre: Bellamy worked with Pike to kill Indra’s army. Punishment: Called out. Bellamy calls himself out & tells Pike they went too far. Lincoln asks him “what the hell happened out there?” Kane tells him, “wake up; you attacked an army that was here to help us! You murdered innocent people. Is that who you are now?” Then Bellamy tells Kane THEY started it, so Lincoln comments, “they?” And Bellamy tells him "you know what I mean”, so Lincoln tells him, "I used to.” Kane also tells him, “well you’ve just started a war that’ll kill us all.” Octavia asks him, “what's happening to you?” Then she tells him, “I saw what you & Pike did to Lexa’s army; Bellamy you killed everyone!” She also asks, “what’s wrong? You’re not proud of massacring an army that was here to help us?” Bellamy then tells her they’re not doing this here so she tells him, “good; then let’s go because I’m not even close to done.” Clarke tells Bellamy, “the Ice Queen is dead. The problem was solved & then you let Pike ruin everything.” Lexa tells her warriors, “send riders; I call upon the armies of the 12 clans. In a day’s time, we lay waste to Arkadia & everyone within its walls.” Bellamy tries to convince Octavia & Indra to trust him since Pike will trust him if shit hits the fan; so Indra comments, “I saw where you earned that trust. On the battlefield, where you massacred my brothers & sisters.” Octavia later tells him, “turning Pike in does not make you one of the good guys, Bellamy. You did that to save me; not because what you thought Pike was doing to the Grounders was wrong.” Then she tells him the Grounders were starving them out because he massacred an army that was sent to protect them. Bellamy thinks they could’ve attacked at any time but Octavia tells him, “but they didn’t attack; you did that. You were hurting & you lashed out because that's what you do." Then Bellamy tells Jasper not to let his anger overcome him when Raven needs them, so Jasper tells him, “you know, that's funny, coming from you; when you’re angry, people die. Just ask that girl [Niylah] over there.” Raven/ALIE also calls him out & comments, “don’t worry, Gina was already dead when Mount Weather blew up & you avenged her right? I mean you picked up a gun & slaughtered an army that was sent to protect us. That had nothing to do with blowing sweet Gina to bits but hey, a Grounders a Grounder, right?” Then Niylah realizes that Bellamy was involved in the massacre, so she calls him out & comments, “my father … you killed him”. Then she hits him in the face. Afterwards as Bellamy tells Niylah “all I wanted was to protect my people”, she tells him “by destroying mine”. As the mission failed because Octavia warned Semet, Hannah tells him that HIS sister caused their failure & the death of Monroe. Pike also invites Bellamy to his office to talk about HIS sister, who warned the Grounders they were coming. The Grounders then send 2 riders to Arkadia to tell Skaikru, “by order of the commander, you have been surrounded by an army of the 12 clans; in every direction, warriors wait to kill anyone who attempts to cross the blockade, to greet them as we greeted those we caught outside your walls today. Or because it was the right thing to do?” When Bellamy sarcastically comments, “your welcome”, Kane tells him, “it matters; until you see that, you’ll still be lost.” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
The Culling: Punishment: Called out. Raven/ALIE comments, “then again, you didn’t get any credit for the culling on the Ark either. How many people suffocated when you threw away my radio? You know, at least Clarke was saving her own people; you were just saving your own ass.” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Auroras Death: Bellamy took Octavia to a dance which led to Aurora’s death. Punishment: Called out. Raven/ALIE comments, “of course that's nothing compared to killing your own mom. For the kind of leader you’ve become?” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: Bellamy shoots Roan & knocks him out to see if he’s chipped. Punishment: When Harper asks what happened to Roan's arm, Jasper tells her Bellamy shot him & Monty says, “good luck getting him to cooperate.” Then Bellamy apologizes to Roan. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE CRIMES: He kills a Grounder to save Niylah. He assaults some people during Kane’s prison riot. He trespasses on Niylahs property when she doesn’t want Skaikru in her home & he holds a gun to her face as he forces his way inside. He lets Clarke force the flame on Luna. Then he also kills some of ALIEs followers under her control to save Murphy & Pike.
Overall: This season Bellamy committed 21 crimes & was held accountable 75 times.
Extras: There were also some other call-outs as well. Octavia tells him, “I’m not playing anything; this is who I am. You’re my brother. I shouldn’t have to tell you that.” She also tells Miller “my brother is on the wrong side.” When Kane causes a riot to hand Pike to the Grounders, Bellamy stands in his way, so Kane yells at him, “get the hell out of the way Bellamy!” Later on when Octavia works to save Lincon & co from execution she checks Bellamy for bugs, so he comments, “you think I’d let them hurt you?” & then Indra tells him to shut his mouth. Bellamy also wanted to save Kane, Lincoln, & Sinclair but Octavia calls him out as she says, “you’re the reason they need saving”. Octavia also uses him as a hostage to trade for Monty & Kane agrees so he comments, “he stays chained, gag him”. When Miller thinks that's too much, Kane tells him "he’s the enemy”. Then as he’s taken hostage, Octavia holds a sword to his throat, attacks him as he tells Pike that the rest of their insurrection is in a cave nearby, & yells at him “you son of a bitch.” Raven/ALIE also calls him out for being a follower as she comments on him not being devoted enough to Gina. Later on, as the adventure kru looks for Luna, Bellamy still doesn’t trust the Grounders so he comments, “eyes sharp, they could be hostile” & Octavia tells him, “they’re not hostile; put the guns down!” When our characters do find Floukru, the man who takes them to Luna comments, “Skaikru, bringers of death. Why should we give you safe passage?” Bellamy also admits that he was wrong to work with Pike as he tells Octavia, “O, listen to me; I know how you feel. I let my need for revenge put me on the wrong side. I don’t want that for you”. Overall a lot of these callouts were more general for working with Pike than any specific crime so I added them here. With these extras, he was called out 90 times.
Monty Green:
Genocide Of MW: Punishment: Called out. Raven tells Bellamy, Gina’s too good for him & Jasper comments “careful. Monty might melt her.” Jasper also doesn’t want to be around Monty & yells, "get away from me.” Then later on he tells Monty “you are both [him & Clarke] mass murderers as far as I’m concerned.” Monty also mentions that Jasper has been using him as a punching bag for months. Jasper then asks Monty, “how is it that you can wipe out an entire civilization but I’m the one who can’t sleep at night; how can you just be fine?” He also says, “you hear that Finn? Overall: This season Monty committed 9 crimes & was called out 20+ times. I added the + for Mount Weather because Jasper gave him shit for months but we didn’t see that, so I don’t know how many extra callouts that would be or if Jasper just didn’t want to be around him.
Extras: Monty also throws a bucket of water on Jasper so Jasper throws him into the rover. Then when Harper & Miller don’t trust that he has Kane, Lincoln, & Sinclair's best interest in mind, Harper calls him out & asks, “does your mom know you're here Monty?” With these extra’s, Monty was called out 22+ times.

Either you pull yourself together & get on with your life or you fall apart alone.” Raven/ALIE told him, “let's protect Jasper, Jaspers so sensitive. Jaspers lost someone, everybody cater to his feelings. We’ve all lost someone. You don’t see us falling apart. You don’t see us getting wasted. Being useless... Being a selfish loser was your only move; that's all we see when we look at you. A coward. A waste of breath. Why do you even bother living? You’re weak, pathetic. You can’t save me. As Raven/ALIE calls Jasper out for being too sensitive & getting wasted, he calls her out too & tells her “you took a pill to take your pain away; you gave up your memories.” Then when she continues to taunt Jasper he tells her to stop & as she mentions that he couldn’t save what's her name, Jasper lashes out commenting “you know her name.” Clarke also yells at Raven/ALIE to shut up as she taunts her. Then afterwards Raven apologizes to Jasper for all the crap she said. With these extras, Raven was called out 11 times in total.
Lincoln Kom Trikru:
Traitor: He returned to Mount Weather in s2 after Lexa’s order to retreat. Punishment: He’s banished & has a kill order out on him. As a result he can’t leave the area around Arkadia & isn’t allowed on the mission to sector 7, so Bellamy tells him he’s more trouble than he’s worth. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Reckless Endangerment: He tells Abby to use Mount Weather to save Nyko & open the mountain. Punishment: Assaulted. Gilmer throws a rock at his head after the death of his son in Mount Weather. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: Lincoln beats up Gilmer & elbows Bellamy in the face. Punishment: Called out & arrested. Bellamy tries to pull him off Gilmer & Abby yells his name so he’ll stop as Pike holds a gun to Denae’s head. Then Lincoln’s arrested. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assault: He throws Bellamy into a wall as the prison riot starts & assaults some other guards too. Punishment: Assaulted & arrested. Lincoln was shock-lashed 2x & re-arrested. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Prison Riot: Lincoln participated in the riot so Kane could kidnap Pike & hand him to the Grounders to die. Punishment: Called out & executed. Pike tells everyone in lockup, “each of you is guilty of the same crimes as Kane, & as such, you will share the same fate, death.” Pike also comments, “Kane, Lincoln, Sinclair, as the leader of this coup, you will pay for your crimes with your lives. Execution is set for dawn.” Then he tells Lincoln, Kane, & Octavia as they are escaping, "I have a message for the traitors in this camp. There will be an execution today. Either turn yourselves in, or the other Grounder prisoners will die in your place.” Pike also tells him, “Lincoln of Trkru, you have been sentenced to death, in accordance with the Exodus Charter. Any last words?” Then he shoots him in the head. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Overall: Lincoln committed 5 crimes & was held accountable 15 times.
Extras: Octavia also calls him out for wearing an Ark uniform, tells him that he’ll never be one of them, & calls him naive. She also comments that at least he still speaks Trig. Then as Lincoln tries to stop Pike’s massacre, Hannah comments, “so much for the good Grounder.” These extra’s take Lincolns total to 20 callouts.
Lexa Kom Trikru:
Abandons Skaikru At Mount Weather: Punishment: Called out & took accountability. She apologized to Clarke a few times & told her she never meant to turn her into this. Clarke spit in her face & threatened to kill her. When Lexa told Clarke she had her captured & brought to Polis to save her, Clarke comments, “you know when I could’ve used saving? When you abandoned me at Mount Weather.” Lexa reminds Clarke that she had friends in Mount Weather that she betrayed too & so Clarke comments “those deaths are on you too. The only difference is you have no honor & I had no choice.” Clarke also tells Lexa “you don’t give a damn about my people. I know why you’re here. I made you look weak at Mount Weather & now the Ice Nation is exploiting that. Well if you want the power of Wanheda, kill me; take it. Otherwise, go float yourself because I will never bow to you”. Clarke also holds a knife to Lexa’s throat & tries to kill her. Then later Clarke tells Lexa, “if you betray me again …” After the attack on Mount Weather, Bellamy comments, "she left us to die in that mountain; she will always put her people first. You should come home to yours.” The Azgeda delegate at the summit meeting also tells her, “the Ice Nation did what Lexa was too weak to do.” Bellamy also calls out her decision to Clarke as he comments, “you made a deal with Lexa who left us in Mount Weather to die & forced us to kill everyone who helped us. People who trusted me!” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Kidnapping: Lexa had Roan kidnap Clarke & then she kept her in Polis for a week. Punishment: Called out. Clarke tells her, “what part of ‘I won’t see you’ was unclear?” Clarke also comments, “you went through all that trouble to capture me just to let me go?” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Traitor: She broke her deal with Roan to lift his banishment if he brought Clarke to her. Punishment: Assassination attempt. Roan calls her out to Clarke & tries to strike a new deal with her to kill Lexa. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Assassinates Queen Nia: Lexa kills Queen Nia in her conclave with Roan. Punishment: Called out. Ontari tells Roan to burn the bitch that killed his mother. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
The 13th Clan Decision: Lexa made Skaikru the 13th clan in the coalition. Punishment: Called out, almost assassinated, & assassinated. Indra tells her, "Polis will not support you; Titus will not support you.” Titus tells her she brought the attack on Semets village on when she made Skaikru the 13th clan. Then he yells at her that he warned her not to make them the 13th clan, which they rejected & now they’ve massacred her people & destroyed one of their villages & she forgave the killers. Then as Lexa continues to defend Skaikru, Semet comments, “if the spirit of the commanders will not protect us then what will?" Then he yells death to Heda & tries to kill her. Titus also kills her because she chooses blood must not have blood & to defend Skaikru. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
The Blockade: Lexa blockades Skaikru. Punishment: Called out. Octavia calls out her decision & tells Clarke, "that’s the second time that she left us all to die”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE CRIMES: She kicks an Ice Nation ambassador out her window.
Overall: Lexa committed 5 crimes this season which she was held accountable for 25 times.
Extras: Queen Nia calls Lexa out for her bad decisions & tells her “today is judgment day; I call for a vote of no confidence.” When Titus wants Queen Nia sent away to meet her fate the other ambassadors stand up to support her commenting “no Heda no more.” Then Queen Nia challenges Lexa to a fight to the death. At first, Lexa also won’t let Clarke leave for Arkadia so Clarke calls her out & comments “so I’m a prisoner now; just like that?” Titus calls Lexa out on her feelings for Clarke, which he believes put both of them in danger & then he tells her, her kill order must be fully enforced & that if she cares for Clarke she’ll send her home or she’ll end up like Costia. In total Lexa was called out 30 times, with these extras.
The character that was held the most accountable in season 3 was:
Lincoln with 5 crimes committed & 15 callouts. In the end, he was held the most accountable because he was executed as a result of the fact that he beat Gilmer, since that was the crime that led to his arrest & ultimately his death.
The second most held accountable character in season 3 was:
A tie between Clarke & Bellamy. Clarke committed 10 crimes & was called out between 76 - 87 times, while Bellamy committed 21 crimes & was called out between 75 - 90 times. Personally, I feel like Clarke was held more accountable than Bellamy since he committed more crimes this season, with more lethal consequences. Plus he committed two mass murders recently, compared to Clarkes one, so he should’ve been called out twice as much as her or at least a lot more than he was. However since I didn’t want to be biased, I added both of them here.
The character that was held the least accountable in season 3 was:
Raven with 6 crimes & 5 - 11 callouts/moments of accountability.

Lincoln revisited Mount Weather in s3 & while we could see that he had issues with it at first, I don’t think his return to the mountain was explored as much as it could’ve been.
At the start of the season Lincoln advised Abby to cut back on the supply runs because if it looked like Skaikru was colonizing the mountain then the truce would break & the clans would be at war. Yet after Nyko was stabbed, Lincoln took the risk & told Abby to save him.
I loved Nyko’s line, “places are not evil brother, people are”, as he tried to convince Lincoln to let Abby reopen the mountain because the hospital there could save a lot of lives.
That being said, I wish we were able to hear a bit more from Lincoln about his own distrust of the mountain, not just his belief that the rest of the Grounders would only see death there. I wish we saw more of his conflict with the decision to reopen Mount Weather. Lincoln was kidnapped by Cage. He was tortured in the mountain. He was turned into a Reaper. The mountain wasn’t just a place of trauma for the 47, it was traumatic for Lincoln too.
On a side note I would’ve loved a storyline where Lincoln worked to rehabilitate other former Reapers, after Abby saved them. I think that could’ve been a really cool storyline that also would’ve hammered home how lasting the traumatic affects that came out of Mount Weather were.

I find Clarkes vengeful side to be so interesting as I’m rewatching season 3 because even though she doesn’t kill Emerson she’s still able to kind of have her revenge too. Thats one of the things I actually love & find fascinating about Clarke, that she achieves her desire for revenge in smart ways that align with her goals. Like in s1 when she found out that Abby caused Jakes death & she wanted to make her hurt, so she took off her wristband, but she also did it to help Monty contact the Ark so they’d know Earth was survivable.
I’m realizing now on this rewatch that the desire for revenge has always on some level existed in Clarke; it didn’t come out of nowhere in the final season. The difference is that in the series finale when Clarke kills Cadogan in revenge, it’s much more counterproductive to her goal of stopping the test & preventing transcendence which Clarke can obviously see is real when she enters the stone & is taken to the bridge. Clarkes killing of Cadogan is also a much more violent moment of revenge then her previous acts.

Wanheda Part 1: Commentary
After leaving Camp Jaha due to her inability to accept her actions, Clarke sets out on her own, dealing with her emotions while encountering new challenges. Arkadia begins to see political turmoil as the hunger for power mounts. (IMDB)
Murphy’s trapped in the bunker & on his last box of food & I just wonder how after 97 years the bunker was still stocked with food at all. Who else lived there recently?
It’s interesting that Jaha tells Murphy he needs him & he kept him in the lighthouse bunker because he knew he was safe there but he needed him out of the way to finish his work with ALIE. I wonder what Jaha needed Murphy for; it’s not like The 100 or anyone else in Arkadia would’ve listened to Murphy & would’ve taken the chip because of him, since they didn’t really liked him all that much.
It’s cool to see Lincoln teach Skaikru how to fight. I also really like his line about Bellamy. He tells the others, “he had me but he was too aggressive”. That’s Bellamy for ya; always a little too aggressive for his own good.
Bellamy meets with Kane to scout sector 7 & he wants to arm his entire unit which could be a sign that he views the Grounders as a threat. Kane ok’s this but he also reminds Bellamy to use non-lethal response. Kane even has to tell Bellamy not to screw things up after they’ve had three months of peace since Mount Weather.
The fact that Bellamy brought Jasper out into the field shows that he didn’t learn from when he took Jasper to the bridge meeting with Anya. It also shows that he didn’t learn from last season when he saw Finns mental state but let him run off to save The 100 with Murphy.
Bellamy has really stepped up to take over as the leader of what remains of The 100 but we can still see what a flawed leader he is as he tries to make his friends feel better even when it causes him to make reckless decisions. I mean he takes a depressed Jasper out into the field & then breaks protocol to enter Ice Nation territory in order to find the Farm Station beacon. While he doesn’t let Jasper have a gun, it’s still reckless for him to be out in the field. Jasper then approaches an Ice Nation warrior for the beacon since he doesn’t care about his own safety, he almost has his throat slit, which leads to Bellamy having to shoot a Grounder to save him while Raven, Miller, & Octavia kill three Grounders under his command. This right here could’ve sparked off the entire war for this season. I wonder if fans would’ve liked this better; if the focus wasn’t on Bellamy’s hatred of the Grounders, which fans felt he moved past but instead on how his love for his friends leads him to make reckless decisions that he doesn’t think through the consequences of. The focus of his storyline could’ve been about becoming a smarter leader. That being said, I liked Bellamy’s storyline this season; I think given how much he hated the Grounders in s1, the fact that the alliance didn’t start until mid s2, the fact that he would’ve chosen war to save Finn last season, he also wasn’t 100% into the alliance from the start, then he left for Mount Weather as soon as the alliance did begin so he didn’t bond as much with the Grounders, as well as the fact that all the Grounders abandoned Skaikru to die in the mountain, the fact that the Ice Nation attacks the mountain later this season, Echo betrays him, & the Grounders have kill orders out on both Lincoln & Clarke, I think it all makes sense that he would have a setback in his trust of the Grounders. I also feel like most shows have their characters go in one direction trajectories from good guys to bad guys or bad guys to good guys, so this whole one step forward, two steps back storyline was very interesting to me. I mean there’s so much more I could say about why I think Bellamy made sense this season but it would be too long for an episode commentary; I think I’ll make an entire post about it.
I also think the fandom reaction to Bellamy’s character is really interesting to me. If he makes reckless decisions because he loves his friends then thats fine & in character. Yet if his love for his friends turns to hatred for those that hurt them & that causes him to make reckless decisions then thats out of character. However we’ve seen in s1 & s2 that Bellamy can be driven to act due to his hatred as much as he can be driven due to his love. In s1 he beat Murphy in revenge after Charlotte committed suicide. He wanted to kill Lincoln when he found Octavia chained in his cave. He also beat & kidnapped Lincoln & while he claimed it was for intel, when Octavia called him on it, he told her, “I did that for Finn & Jasper & Diggs & John & Roma”. Then in s2, when he first reunited with Murphy after Murphy killed Connor & Miles, shot Raven, & hung him, Bellamy attacked him in revenge too. Bellamy might also believe in second chances like Clarke told him in s1 but that doesn’t mean that he won’t act on his violent tendencies first before he offers his enemies a second chance. I’ll admit Bellamy did dial down the hatred in s2 & was much more driven by his love than his hate but it’s still apart of who he is & how he reacts to trauma.
Abby talks to Lincoln who has become kinda like her advisor & she wants to make another run to Mount Weather for medical supplies. Lincoln tells her that if it looks like Skaikru is colonizing the mountain then the truce will break & they’ll be at war again. I feel like this is another interesting character moment for Abby that highlights her flaws, like Bellamy’s flaws were highlighted before. Abby wants to save lives & Mount Weather has supplies that she needs but she doesn’t think of the optics of it. I think it’s interesting that both Abby & Bellamy’s actions could’ve been the spark to a war because they were too naive with their decision making.
It makes me sad that Raven & Wick broke up; I loved them & felt like Wick was Ravens best love interest.
Octavia was also really interesting in this episode because we saw that she didn’t want Skaikru & the Grounders to fully live together. I think she just had such a strong animosity for Skaikru & seeing Lincoln in a guards uniform because she was never allowed to be a real member of Skaikru. She also saw how the guards on the Ark abused their power over her mom, as she slept with them to get ahead & so her kids could get ahead; so she views them in a very negative light. I feel like Octavia doesn’t want to live with Skaikru & she wants to 100% be a Grounder but that also doesn’t mean she wants Skaikru to die or for a war to break out. She just doesn’t seem to have faith that the truce will last because most people aren’t like Lincoln.
We also learn from Lincoln that Luna won’t take them in because she doesn’t want the attention that I assume Lincoln would’ve brought because of his banishment. Yet somehow harboring 100 kids at the end of s1 was fine.
Ah shit, it’s Shawn Mendes. I was kinda nervous when I heard he’d be in The 100 because I thought there would be some dumb unrealistic musical numbers but I actually really liked how they handled him. The characters didn’t break out into random song & dance; it was just some kid sitting down at a piano & singing, which could realistically happen. It wasn’t overdone & he wasn’t overly focused on either; so I didn’t mind it.
Bellamy makes an interesting comment to Indra about Clarke & tells her, “we know there’s a kill order; you people are big on those.” I feel like this shows some of Bellamy's underlying animosity for the Grounders as he lumps them all together & says “you people”. It also shows that he resents the Grounders for their treatment of Lincoln, the one Grounder that did stand by Skaikru at the mountain & he resents them now since they want to kill Clarke. Given what happens with Bellamy this season, I feel like he kinda views Lincoln as the exception amongst the Grounders.
Indra also tells Bellamy, Kane, & Monty that Azgeda feels emboldened after Mount Weather weakened Lexa & Queen Nia wants Clarkes power. If Azgeda believes she has the power she'll break the coalition & start a war. Indra won’t let that happen. It’s interesting to see Indra work to prevent a war when last season she started out as being very much against the alliance with Skaikru. She’s already grown so much & it’s awesome to see that even though she was against the truce at first she made the best out of the situation & now she genuinely cares about Skaikru. It also reminds me of her conversation with Gaia that happens in s5 where she comments that real warriors hate war; so it’s nice to see that that sentiment didn’t actually come out of nowhere.
When we meet Niylah she protects Clarke from Roan because as she tells Clarke, her mom was taken by the mountain & Clarke ended the reaping. I’m curious when Niylah mentions the reaping, is that just the general term she’s using for those that the mountain took, even for those that were sent to the harvest chamber or is she talking about the Reapers. I’m just a bit confused because we never saw any female Reapers & the Reapers made a clear choice last season to leave Octavia & Indra behind when they took Lincoln & Nyko.
The best scene: I loved the music scene in the rover as our characters traveled to sector 7 while Octavia traveled with them on Helios. It was so fun & cute; although I do wish Harper was with them.
Episode Rating: 8.5 / 10

The 100 S2 Rewatch - Analysis of Character Accountability:
I was interested in how the characters were held accountable throughout the course of the series & as I’ve rewatched the show I’ve taken note of when someone was called out, arrested, killed, banished, hurt or not held accountable as a result of their crimes.
This post is about the crimes of season two. Who was called out the most & held the most accountable for their crimes & who was let off the easiest?
In case you missed it here’s what I wrote about season 1.
*Disclaimer: The crimes listed below are the ones that the characters were called out for in some way, shape, or form; whether I believe they deserved to be held accountable or not is irrelevant to how the narrative chose to treat them. This post is more an analysis on what the characters did than a judgment on their actions. I also realize that some of the examples of call outs are a bit weak but I still feel like if the narrative acknowledged the crime as wrong then the show is calling it out at least to the audience.
PS: This post is also gonna be really long, sorry in advance & thanks for reading.
Here are all the crimes that I counted for the characters & how the show held them accountable:
Clarke Griffin:
THE RING OF FIRE: Clarke burned 300 Grounders alive in the s1 finale. Punishment: Called out, assaulted, & almost killed. After Clarke escaped Mount Weather, Anya hit her with a rock to take her to the commander & commented, “you killed 300 of my warriors. I can’t show my face without a prize”. Lexa also called her out & said “you’re the one who burned 300 of my warriors alive”. Then to save Finn, Clarke called herself out & was willing to be tortured to death as she reminded Lexa that she burned 300 of her warriors & is soaked in Grounder blood. Quint also told her “you are the enemy” & “you burned my brother alive in a Ring Of Fire”. Then he shot at her with a bow & arrow, chased her down & tackled her, he tried to strangle her, & almost stabbed her as he said “for my brother”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
MINOR MOUNT WEATHER CRIMES: Clarke took Maya hostage, stole her keycard, attempted to escape which almost irradiated & killed them all, & trespassed throughout the mountain to find the truth. Punishment: Called out & arrested. Clarke was arrested & restrained after she attacked Maya. Then when Clarke stole Maya’s keycard to escape & almost irradiated the mountain, Maya held a gun to her & threatened to shoot if she didn’t stand down & she was arrested afterwards. Clarke also entered the decontamination area when she didn’t have authorization & broke into the harvest chamber. As a result when the Mountain Men first caught her, they threatened to throw her into the harvest chamber. Jasper & Miller also called her out as Jasper said, “how long do you think they’ll let us stay if you keep this up? …. look we’re guests here, not prisoners. What would you do with a guest who kept calling you a liar & generally acted like an ungrateful ass? … ” This prompted Miller to comment, “kick their ungrateful ass out” & Jasper told Clarke, “right now, the biggest threat to us is you”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
TOOK ANYA HOSTAGE & ALMOST KILLED HER: Clarke knocked Anya out with the Mountain Mens tranquilizer dart & took her prisoner. Then almost killed her after the tranq wore off & Anya attacked her. Punishment: Anya attacked her as the tranq wore off & tried to kill her. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: Clarke’s idea to offer Lexa the cure for the Reapers could’ve killed Skaikru if she was unable to save Lincoln. Clarke also endangered Skaikru when she tried to save Finn. Punishment: Called out. Abby told her, “if you’re wrong, all of us are gonna die”. Jaha also tried to take back control as Chancellor & told David Miller & Major Burn to take Abby, Clarke, & Finn into custody. Then when Lexa came to the dropship & saw that Lincoln was dead, she called Clarke out & commented “you lied & you’re out of time”. Then when it came to Finn in the end Clarke failed to save him & she had to kill him herself. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
MERCY KILLED FINN: Punishment: Called out & hit. Clarke kinda called herself out to Abby as she said “what did I do?” & then she was haunted by Finn & hallucinated him. Then Lexa called her out & told her “what you did tonight will haunt you until the end of your days.” Raven also called her a murderer & punched her in the face. Then later she said, "you don’t get to give up, Clarke; you killed Finn & I didn’t give up.” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
FINNS MASSACRE: Punishment: Called out. Murphy called Clarke out after she told him he didn’t do enough to stop Finn & he told her if she wants to blame someone, Finn was there to save her. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
THE FIRST GROUNDER KILLED: Clarke slit a Grounders throat after Tris died in s1. Punishment: Called herself out. Clarke told Lexa she slit a mans throat & watched him die. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
TONDC: Clarke didn’t save Tondc & it costs 250 lives. Punishment: Called out. When Clarke had reservations Lexa called her out & said, “it’s also our only choice & you know it; you could’ve warned everyone out there but you didn’t. You said nothing, not even to your own people. This is war Clarke, people die.” Then Abby told her, "you knew; you knew & you let this happen?” & “so many people; our people.” When Clarke let Abby know that she did it to save Bellamy, Abby told her, “no stop it. I don’t wanna hear it.” Then she told Clarke “you crossed a line. Their blood is on your hands & even if we win I’m afraid you won’t be able to wash it off this time.” Clarke also called herself out to Lexa & said, "I could’ve warned them. I could’ve saved them.” Then in the aftermath of Tondc Abby called Clarke out to Kane & commented, "how could she do something like this" & “she let this happen; she could’ve stopped it.” Outside of Abby, Octavia also called Clarke out a ton of times & said, “tell me you didn’t know it was coming”, “you let all those people die” & “you were gonna let me die”. Then when Clarke told her the reason she didn’t save Tondc Octavia comments, "right, because you’re in charge now & you decide who’s disposable; you’d have fit right in on the council”. Then at the end of s2 Octavia called Clarke out a few more times & told her, "I’ll fight this war with you now because I want our friends back but after that we’re done”. Plus she called them out to Indra & commented, "how could you not hate them? Indra, they almost killed you”. Then in the finale Octavia told her, "you trusted Lexa. You let a bomb drop on Tondc. You let all those people die.” Then when Clarke comments “I’m doing the best I can” Octavia tells her, “well it’s not good enough”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
KILLED THE TONDC SNIPER & SHOT LINCOLN: Clarke shot & killed the sniper that attacked Tondc; Plus she shot Lincoln in the shoulder. Punishment: None | NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE
ATTEMPTED MURDER OF EMERSON: When Clarke realized the mountain started to bleed her friends she wanted to kill Emerson. Punishment: Called out. Kane told her to calm down while Abby said “you are not in charge here”. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
THE INSIDE MAN: Clarke let Bellamy to be the inside man in Mount Weather. Punishment: Called herself out. Clarke told Lexa, “what if it was too dangerous & I sent him in there anyway?” & "I couldn’t have kept us alive all this time without him. We need him & now I might be the one who gets him killed.” | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
KILLED DANTE: Clarke shot Dante so Cage would know her threats were real & he’d release her friends. Punishment: Called out, kinda. Bellamy tried to make her stand down & told her they needed him. Cage sent Emerson to the control room to kill her, Bellamy, & Monty. Then because Clarke killed Dante, Cage started to torture Abby. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
GENOCIDE: Clarke killed the Mountain Men to save the 44 & Skaikru. Punishment: Called out. Jasper told her if she had just given him another minute he would’ve killed Cage & it would’ve been over. Clarke also chose not to enter Camp Jaha, which one could argue is a self imposed banishment. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
TOTAL: Clarke committed about 15 crimes this season & was called out 49 times.
EXTRAS: The crimes listed above were some of Clarkes most notable ones of season two but she also committed some smaller crimes too. Clarke assaulted a Mountain Man as she escaped & exposed him to radiation. Then Anya called her out for saving her & commented, “you saved my life because you need me; I know the way back to your people. I know where the traps are hidden. You’d never make it alone”. Anya also blamed Clarke for the Mountain Men tracking them, smeared her face with mud, told her she reeks, & then tried to kill her. Clarke also sent the Blakes off to look for an entrance into the mountain when there mission was to take out the radio tower, so Abby called her out & said, “we’re in enemy territory & their lives are my responsibility.” Then before Finn died, Clarke tried to save him & shock lashed Nyko so he wouldn’t kill him. After Clarke killed Finn, Raven also had a lost of general animosity towards her as she yelled at Clarke to go away when she first saw her after Finns death. When Clarke asked Raven why she wasn’t at the radio waiting for Bellamy, Raven told her she left Octavia there & then she said, “how about you back off”. Clarke also saved Emerson & Indra called her out & said, “a killer lives while a warrior dies. This is your way?” Then when it came to Tondc, Lexa called her out on almost letting Octavia die as she said, "you were willing to let her die two days ago; nothing has changed.”
Bellamy Blake:
ATTEMPTED MURDER: Bellamy tried to kill Tristan to save Finn who was captured. Punishment: Tristan attacked him & took him prisoner. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
ASSAULTED MURPHY: Bellamy attacked Murphy for shooting Raven, killing The 100, & hanging him. Punishment: Shock lashed, arrested, & called out. Kane told Bellamy & Finn that he didn’t care about Murphy’s crimes. They are not animals & Bellamy can’t attack him; there are laws & rules. Kane then tells him that he’s no longer in charge. Kane also has him in lock up & was going to keep him there until he was no longer a threat to others. Then Murphy called out Bellamy's hypocrisy when he thought he was better than him when they were both arrested. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
BROKE OUT OF LOCKUP & TOOK MURPHY: Finn helped him escape from lock up & they took Murphy too. Punishment: None | NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE
ASSAULTED & KIDNAPPED A GROUNDER: Bellamy wanted to find his friends so he took the Grounder with Clarke’s dads watch & knocked him out. Punishment: None | NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE
ALMOST LEFT MEL TO DIE: Bellamy initially followed Finns lead to leave Mel to save The 100. Punishment: None but because Sterling tries to save Mel & then dies so Bellamy changes his mind. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT: Bellamy saw Finns mental state & let him run off to save the others with Murphy. Punishment: Called himself out & told Clarke "I saw what he was capable of & still, I let him go with Murphy & two automatic rifles.” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
KILLED TWO REAPERS: The Reapers attacked him & Octavia while they were in the parking garage looking for a way into the mountain so he killed them. Punishment: None | NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE
KNOCKED OUT, ELECTROCUTED, & KIDNAPPED LINCOLN: Lincoln was turned into a Reaper & to save him Bellamy needed to take him back to Clarke & Abby. Punishment: None | NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE
THREATENED TO SHOOT NYKO: When Nyko tried to kill Finn, Bellamy threatened to kill him to save Finns life. Punishment: Called out. Octavia stood between Bellamy & Nyko as she yelled at Bellamy not to shoot Nyko. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE

The difference is that he acted in the defense of himself & others as opposed to killing or hurting others when it wasn’t necessary. This made it difficult for me to decide if I should even include some of his & the other characters crimes since one could argue they were necessary but I decided if someone died I’d include it. That means this season Bellamy committed 21 crimes & was held accountable 14 times.

He should’ve floated a long time ago. Throw him out”. Another member of Skaikru also found Finn before he left for the dropship & said “there he is; you’re gonna get us killed.” Lincoln also called out Finn & told the others to take Lexas deal because Finn massacred his village & some of the dead were his friends too. Then he comments, "we’ve all got a monster inside of us Clarke & we’re all responsible for what it does when we let it out”. Later on Finn decides to flee camp & Clarkes worried because there are Grounders everywhere that want to kill him but Finn tells her, “maybe thats what I deserve for what I’ve done”. Finn also tells Clarke, “I’ve killed so many people” & when Clarke tells him, “the things we’ve done to survive they don’t define us” he asks her, “what if you’re wrong? ATTEMPTS TO KILL OCTAVIA: Lexa sends someone to kill Octavia. Punishment: Called out. Clarke tells Lexa, “I told you she’s not a problem .... What the hell is wrong with you? You can’t just kill everyone you don’t trust”. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
ABANDONED HER ALLIES: Lexa left Clarke & the 44 behind to die in Mount Weather. Punishment: Called out. Clarke called her out for not caring about her friends. Then Lincoln called her out to Indra & said that she left their allies to be slaughtered & dishonors all of them. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
TOTAL: Lexa committed 11 crimes & she was held accountable 19 times.
Extras: Lexa also claims to believe love is weakness but Clarke calls her out on that lie & comments “you say having feelings makes me weak but your weak for hiding from them. I might be a hypocrite Lexa but you’re a liar. You felt something for Gustus. You’re still haunted by Costia. You want everyone to think you’re above it all, but I see right through you.”
Monty Green:
BREAKING & ENTERING: He broke into the Presidents office to find intel on the Mountain Men so he could save his friends. Punishment: None | NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE
TRESPASSING: The 47 weren’t allowed in the art warehouse, Monty also helped hack into the radio, & he broke into the command center to unjam the radio to send out their distress call. Punishment: Arrested, thrown in a cage, & tortured for his bone marrow. Emerson found Monty, knocked him down, & threw him in a cage. | HELD ACCOUNTABLE
ATTACKED THE MOUNTAIN MEN: Monty shot at the Mountain Men to defend himself & the 47. Punishment: Called out. Cage told Emerson that the kids were dangerous & irradiated an entire level. Emerson told the rest of Mount Weather about what the kids did & went door to door searching for them. Cage also told Mount Weather, "before my friend Lorelei Tsing was murdered by the Outsiders still at large in this mountain she found a cure. It was in their bone marrow.” Then he tells them the 44 criminals that irradiated level 5 & killed 15 of their people were keeping them from the surface & that while they’ve repaired their home it can’t replace the lives that were viciously taken. | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
GENOCIDE: He aided Clarke in the genocide of Mount Weather. Punishment: Called out. Jasper asks him how he could let this happen. Then when Monty said he was sorry Jasper said, “sorry? you’re sorry?” | KINDA HELD ACCOUNTABLE
TOTAL: Monty committed 4 crimes this season & he was held accountable 8 times.
The character that was held the most accountable in season 2 was: Finn with 9 crimes & 36 moments of accountability. In the end he was held the most accountable to me because he died for his crimes.
The second most held accountable character in season 2 was: Clarke with 13 crimes & 49 moments of accountability.
The character that was held the least accountable in season 2 was: Octavia with 9 crimes & 5 moments of accountability.

The 100: Rewatch S2, EP 16: Blood Must Have Blood Pt 2
Synopsis: After being betrayed by Lexa, Clarke makes a final stand against Mount Weather, while Jaha shocks Murphy as they continue their journey to the City of Light. (IMDB)
Overall Commentary & Recap:
The City Of Light Storyline:
Jaha continues to lead Murphy & the others towards the City Of Light but things take a deadly turn on the water.
While searching for the City Of Light the boat is attacked by a giant worm, like the one that attacked Octavia in the Pilot. Yet before it has a chance to kill Richards, he realizes that they’ve actually reached land, when all hope seemed lost. Only he’ll never reach land because the worm eats him as he reaches into the water to find the boat oar he dropped. The worm continues to attack the boat & Craig starts to freak out as water begins to leak into the boat which prevents him from rowing the boat to shore. This is what leads Jaha to throw him overboard, which is pretty ruthless. Yet at the same time I kinda see Jaha’s side. If he didn’t throw Craig overboard the worm would’ve continued to attack the boat until they were all in the water which could’ve killed them. On the other hand Jaha could’ve tried to use the oar to hit the worm & scare it away or he could’ve taken the oar & started to row them to shore himself.
Jahas an interesting character because on the one hand he does care, like when he see’s that Murphy is hurt & on multiple occasions tries to help him. Yet he’ll also quickly turn on you to save the majority without a second thought & with little remorse. I can understand why Murphy would want to be as far away from Jaha as possible after this episode. Jaha also still 100% believes in his destiny, which is to find the COL & I love when Murphy questions him & asks, “what about Craigs destiny?” Yet Jaha is a firm diehard believer in sacrificing the few to save the many.
Murphy also has some nice little moments; like when he hurts his arm while trying to save Richards from the worm. Then at the end of the episode, he finds the lighthouse bunker which is somehow still stocked with food that isn’t stale. He also finds a video of Becca’s assistant who kills himself because he couldn’t keep ALIE contained & then she obviously broke free & destroyed the world.
In the end Jaha does find his destiny but the City Of Light isn’t at all what he thought it would be, which makes him start to question himself. Instead he meets ALIE & finds Beccas house. Becca has a real nice house; I wonder who’s been cleaning it? ALIE also somehow knows Jahas name; I wonder who told him. Did ALIE learn it from the missile from the Ark or did Emori tell her or did Sienna & Zorans family find the COL & tell her?
Mount Weather Storyline:
Clarke, Octavia, Bellamy, Monty, Jasper, & Maya make one last stand against the Mountain Men.
Outside Mount Weather Octavia waits for Bellamy & the others to come to the Reaper tunnels but instead she see’s Fox’s body discarded by the Mountain Men. RIP Fox. You made it through so much of the season but couldn’t survive until the very end. I know she was only a minor character but I liked Fox & I’ll miss her. I think my favorite Fox scene was in s1 when she played drinking games with Clarke & Sterling.
We also have another Clarktavia fight. As the pressure becomes to much Clarke starts to break under it. She bangs on the door to Mount Weather, wanting to be let in. She pulls out her gun & tells Octavia, “I’m getting through that door”. Octavia still doesn’t understand her or the choices she’s made & asks, “whats wrong with you?” & she tells her “Bellamy’s counting on you; everyone’s always counting on you .... You trusted Lexa. You let a bomb drop on Tondc. You let all those people die.” While Clarke is doing the best she can, Octavia tells her it isn’t enough. What I find interesting is that Clarke is hated so much for trusting Lexa; I mean I know she just left them behind to die but they needed her & the alliance. If Clarke didn’t work with Lexa, all of Skaikru would’ve been killed after Finns massacre. How would that have saved their friends in the mountain? The alliance with Lexa also saved a few hundred Grounder prisoners from the mountain & considering Octavia claims to care about the Grounders too, you’d think she would see the value that came from working with Lexa, flaws & all. Then we also know (albeit Octavia doesn’t know this at the time) that because of the deal Clarke made with Lexa to form the alliance, Skaikru didn’t leave Mount Weather just to walk back into a war with the Grounders; there was three months of peace after the mountain fell & thats because Clarke offered Lexa a chance.
After a little while Bellamy does come to the door & we have some nice reunions. Bellamy & Octavia hug. I loved Octavia’s reunion with Jasper & Monty as she tells them, “I knew it. You two are too scrawny to drill”. Then Clarke reunites with Jasper & Monty too which is so sweet & sad because it’s the last time Jasper will ever like Clarke; I also love that Clarke mouths the words thank you to Maya. Then Bellamy & Clarke talk about both their armies being gone & Clarke asks Bell if he has a plan, which he doesn’t but he does suggest they talk to Dante.
In the harvest chamber the Mountain Men start to take Raven & Wick immediately tries to sacrifice himself to save her & tells them, “No. No take me. Don’t touch her”. Ugh I love their relationship. Raven is also a total badass as she bites some dudes throat out & tries to escape; sadly it doesn’t work & poor Raven is tortured yet again.
When Clarke, Monty, & Bellamy meet with Dante he’s decided to join the dark side & in the process single handedly dooms his entire clan. You can sense that he’s immediately unhappy to see Clarke. He tells Clarke & the others that the reason for his change of heart is because they cut the power & risked the lives of everyone in the mountain, his people, even the ones who helped them. However our characters knew they could survive on level 5 & made sure the turbines could be repaired. Dante then asks Clarke, “if we released your people & theirs what would have happened to mine?” Dante in the end not only chose to save his people, which is understandable, but he chose to do it at the expense of the 44. He could’ve asked Skaikru to donate their bone marrow; then all of them could’ve made it out of the mountain alive but instead he chose to let his dark side win. I feel like some fans might think this is out of character for Dante but he had no morals to start with. Look what he did to the Grounders. He also still kidnapped the 48 from the dropship. He still lied to them & manipulated them into thinking that none of their people survived or made it to Earth. It makes sense to me that when he felt backed into a corned & when he felt like his people could all die that he would chose his own clan, as their former leader. I feel like not only did Dante view the Grounders as savages but I think he came to view Clarke as one too. It is interesting that he chose to work with the Grounders over Skaikru though. Was it because he was more afraid of the Grounders & wanted to neutralize them as a threat while he believed the Mountain Men could taken down the 44 & Skaikru with ease? Was it because Lexa was the one who found Emerson? Was it because he needed Skaikru & felt like they had to die for his clan to live & that the deal he offered Lexa wouldn’t have worked with Clarke? Whatever his reason, in the end he was blinded by his own anger & hubris & doomed all of his fellow Mountain Men.
One of the moments I loved most in the finale was that even though Clarke killed Dante & most likely had complicated feelings for him due to him aiding her people but then turning on them, was the fact that she still learned from him. She learned the lesson, “I bear it so they don’t have to” from Dante. This is then apart of the reason that Clarke at the end of the episode chooses to leave the rest of her people because like Dante also told her, “after what I’ve done they can be free; I can’t”. I feel like Clarke leaves Skaikru for a multitude of reasons. She leaves to bare the sins of Mount Weather & she doesn’t believe she deserves to be free. I also think that her self imposed banishment, is like the banishment she gave Murphy. He was banished for his crimes & now she banishes herself for hers. When Clarke leaves we also see that she has nightmares & she has no one else to help her through it. This anguish she feels about what she did, she feels she deserves because that’s what’s left of her victims. On the other hand she wants to run from her decisions at Tondc & Mount Weather; so she can use the “I bear it so they don’t have to” as an excuse to leave. She doesn’t want to face her friends or their families & be reminded of what she did to save them. She knows that some will consider her a hero while others like Jasper will despise her & she doesn’t wanna deal with that.
When Clarke, Bellamy, & Monty make it to the control room we have some awesome moments. I love when Bellamy see’s Raven on the table & yells at Dante to tell them to stop. It’s cool to see Clarke start small in her threats as she tells Cage if he doesn’t let her friends go, she’ll kill Dante. Yet Dante has now committed to the cause & tells Cage to “stay the course”. Then since Clarke needs Cage to take her threats seriously, she kills him. I love Clarke & Dantes final exchange: “None of us has a choice here Clarke” - Dante, “I didn’t want this” - Clarke, “Neither did I” - Dante
“Listen to me very carefully. I will not stop until my people are free. If you don’t let them go I will irradiate level 5 .... Cage listen to me. I don’t want anyone else to die. Stop the drilling & we can talk. There must be a way to get us all out of this.” - Clarke. Clarke really does try. She tries to make Cage understand that she will be leaving the mountain with her friends but she doesn’t want it to come at the expense of his people. Then as Cage comes to the dorms to take bone marrow from Abby, Kane even tells him they can donate it & no one has to die but Cage is too far gone. It’s interesting to wonder if Cage would’ve taken Kanes deal if Dante wasn’t dead. However it’s because Clarke kills Dante that Cage comes to hurt Abby, which ends up saving Ravens life. Dante also never asked Skaikru to donate their bone marrow & told Cage to continue the bone marrow extraction so I find it hard to feel bad for him.
It’s weird to see Bellamy be the voice of cautious as he comments, “wait a second Clarke. We need to think about this. There are kids in there ... and people who helped us.” Clarke asks for a better idea but Bellamy doesn’t have one.
Jasper then starts to make his move to kill Cage in order to save Maya. As he worries about Maya, who’s looking for Sergeant Lee, Octavia tells him, “a warrior doesn’t worry about what he can’t control”. Then when Maya comes back Octavia offers Jasper a knife & teaches him how to kill but before he leaves Jasper tells Maya he loves her. It’s so sad she never has a chance to say it back; I’m sure this another thing that haunts Jasper.
I love Octavia & Maya’s scene where Octavia tells Maya her Ark never had a view either. Then she offers to take Maya back there to save her in the airlock chamber that Emerson was in but Maya’s not to thrilled about being in a cell the rest of her life. Then to end the scene off two teens come into the room they’re in & notice Octavia ‘outsider’ Blake so like a complete badass she runs after them, throws her sword into a guard, then slides into another one knocking him down & pulls the blade from her first kill to take out the second. It’s so awesome. Unfortunately though, this causes Octavia & Maya to be found.
I love that Clarke, Bellamy, & Monty all have their own motivation to pull the lever. Clarke has Abby who’s on the table. Bellamy has Octavia who’s been captured & Monty has Jasper who he sees has been captured. ( I know that Monty doesn’t pull the lever but he did make it possible so there’s that.) I also loved Bellamy’s throwback line when he see’s Octavia, “my sister, my responsibility“ while Clarke says, “I have to save them”. Then as they run out of time Clarke, Bellamy, & Monty make the ultimately sacrifice to save there people as they commit genocide.
At the same time Jasper tries to kill Cage but I mean he would’ve failed. He was not a great assassin. Cage could see him with the knife in his hand & that he wasn’t chained to the wall. He had guards with him that would’ve killed Jasper before he ever cut Cage & even if he could kill Cage it never would’ve made the others stand down. It would’ve just made them angrier, emboldened them to continue the killing, & it would’ve made them feel justified in their killing of the 44 as Cage would’ve died a martyr for their cause.
I wonder if they immediately injected Maya & some of their other allies with the bone marrow that was already taken, if that would’ve saved them. Edit: I just remembered the bone marrow takes 48 hours to kick in, so it wouldn’t have worked.
RIP Mount Weather; well at least RIP Maya, Sergeant Lee, the other allies, & the kids. I couldn’t care less about the rest of the Mountain Men that were complicit in the crimes against the Grounders & wanted to torture the 44 kids to death for their bone marrow. I’m gonna miss Maya, she was another awesome character. It would’ve been cool if she somehow could’ve survived.
The walk through Mount Weather after the massacre is so sad. They’re all dead & you see the soccer ball that the kids were playing with before. Then Clarke, Bellamy, & Monty find Jasper holding Maya’s body. Clarke tells him, “we had no choice”. Bellamy tells him, “they never would’ve stopped”. While Monty just tells Jasper he’s sorry as Jasper asks him, “how could you let this happen?”
I love seeing The 100 in the background reuniting behind Abby & Clarkes reunion.
Aw Wick picks up Raven while Monty runs to Harper. I love it! Then Miller & his dad reunite and Kane tells Bellamy, “you did good”. When Skaikru finally make it back home Raven remembers to give Jasper his goggles & it’s so sad; like Jasper has been through a lot but it feels like his goggles were a symbol of his youth & it’s like it’s completely gone. He got his goggle back but he can’t go back to who he was before the war. Ugh, it’s so sad.
I love the last scene as Clarke hugs Monty goodbye & then Clarke says goodbye to Bellamy. It’s really sweet that Bellamy tries to return the favor that Clarke once offered him about forgiveness but Clarke still won’t come inside & instead chooses to run off into the wilderness all alone even when Bellamy reminds her that THEY killed the Mountain Men. Ok, this might seem a bit extreme but I feel like this is one of Clarkes biggest mistakes. Not killing the Mountain Men or letting Tondc be bombed or betraying her friends in season 5; this is worse. I feel Clarke’s relationships all started to crack this season. She killed Finn & this damaged her relationship with Raven. She let the bomb hit Tondc, which damaged her relationship with Octavia & this also hurt her relationship with Bellamy since she was willing to sacrifice Octavia. Then she killed Maya, which destroyed her relationship with Jasper. At the same time her relationship with Lexa was on the outs too because Lexa betrayed her at the mountain. If you think about it the only solid friend she had left at the time was Monty. Then because Clarke left her friends for months, I think it solidified a belief in their minds that she doesn’t really care about them as individuals. I think Clarkes friends viewed her, the same way Murphy viewed Jaha in this episode. When Clarke then comes back in s3 even when she tries to save her friends, as she continues to make the hard choices & is willing to sacrifice their lives, to them it feels like she doesn’t care. This only takes the crack that was created in her relationships in s2 & creates a greater divide between Clarke & her friends that doesn’t heal until the end of series. What hurts Clarke the most in terms of the writing is also that we rarely see Clarke interact with the characters that she’s sacrificing her friends for. It’s like when Clarke almost sacrifices Emori in s4; she’s doing it for the greater good but we haven’t seen Clarke interact with the greater good since she played drinking games with Fox & Sterling in the first season.
The Grounders Storyline:
Indra & Lincoln have a short talk about the commanders decision while Lincoln makes his choice on whether to follow Octavia or Lexa.
Whether or not Indra believes Lexa made the right decision, she is loyal to her commander. Lincoln on the other hand is much more loyal to Octavia & what he believes is the honorable. As a result when Indra offers him a choice like Octavia made her’s, Lincoln takes it & runs back to Mount Weather even thought it would mean that Lexa would never take him back.
Then Lincoln comes in like a total badass & takes down Cage. Cage almost beats him with the tone generator & the red drugs but Lincolns smart. He’s able to cut off Cages hand & then takes his revenge as he injects the red into Cage telling him, “the first dose is the worst”, like Cage once told him.
MVP:
Clarke: She sacrificed another bit of her soul to save her friends & make the hard choice. It sucks that she had to kill her allies but that’s war. Hard choices need to be made & I feel more inclined to blame Dante & Cage who were adults over a bunch of traumatized teenagers.
Maya: She fought to save the 44 because it was the right thing to do even thought in the end it cost her her own life.
Favorite Line:
“Deliverance comes at a cost. I bear it so they don’t have to.” - Dante
“None of us has a choice here Clarke” - Dante, “I didn’t want this.” - Clarke, “Neither did I” - Dante
“A warrior doesn’t worry about what he can’t control.” - Octavia
“None of us is innocent” - Maya
“Maybe there are no good guys” - Abby
“If you need forgiveness, I’ll give that to you; You’re forgiven.” - Bellamy
Final Thoughts:
This was easily the best episode in the entire series so far. What makes it so amazing is that it subverts the stereotypical hero tropes that we see in at least 90% of movies & tv shows. In most movies & tv shows the hero always wins & there’s some last minute save so that everyone can survive. The hero doesn’t have to sacrifice their morals in the end because it all works out fine or if there are sacrifices the hero needs to make it’s often glossed over to paint the hero as being a more pure. The 100 on the other hand, shows the real brutality of war. It shows that even with the best of intentions as Kane later says, “who you want to be doesn’t always win”. It shows the flaws of the human race & how revenge, arrogance, hubris, & selfishness can be our downfall.
I think what also makes the final so fascinating is that I feel like I can think of some other solutions to the Mount Weather issue. Yet I don’t know if my ideas would’ve worked either. I also had time to find these solutions without any weight on my shoulders because if I did fail, my friends & family wouldn’t be tortured, while Clarke, Bellamy, & Monty’s would’ve. Here are some of my ideas: 1) The most obvious one is that Clarke, Bellamy, Jasper, Kane, or literally any other character could’ve suggested donating their bone marrow before things became so desperate & tense. Then maybe the Mountain Men would’ve been more willing to listen because they wouldn’t have felt like their people were being endangered. 2) When Emerson was about to blow the door to enter the command center in the finale, Bellamy could’ve shot through the glass window & shot him before he could enter the room. This wouldn’t have been a huge win but it would’ve given them more time to try & negotiate with Cage; albeit Jasper might’ve been killed or drilled in the meantime but it could’ve saved hundreds of the Mountain Men. 3) We know in the future how much Monty comes to value the truth & once upon a time Clarke did too as she was arrested on the Ark to tell Skaikru that the Ark was dying. While the Mountain Men already knew the truth about their leaders killing the 44 since Cage told them earlier in the season that the kids were their solution to make it to the ground, what if Clarke took her threat to the people? Instead of making the threat to wipe out Mount Weather to Cage, threaten everyone else over the PA system. This might force them to turn against their leaders. Yet I will admit this might not work because the mountain is already so loyal to Cage & followed him in his crimes against the Grounders & the 44. Cage could’ve calmed everyone down as he told them Emerson was dealing with them in the command center & they would never succeed in making their threat a reality. 4) We know that the Mountain Men use knock out gas since thats how the 48 were taken & the mountain tried to use it again against Jasper & the 47 earlier this season. What if Bellamy found the mountains armory & was able to gas everyone? Then all they would have to do to make sure they were safe is place all the Mountain Men in the harvest chamber cages while they fled to safety. Then they could come back later to free them & perhaps negotiate some sort of deal to donate their bone marrow or help them repair the mountain. 5) Couldn’t Bellamy have snuck the 47 out of the harvest chamber dead body chute? I know the Mountain Men said that they fortified security after Clarke escaped but I mean, send the 47 & some Grounders down with a few guns. I think they could’ve had a chance. Overall these were the ideas I had that I can remember right now & some of them might not be the best but they are ideas that could’ve been exhausted before genocide. That being said in the end I don’t hate what Clarke, Bellamy, & Monty did. They made the best choice they could in the moment to save their friends while at the same time they offered their enemies a chance to do what was right & they tried to save them too. They all could’ve made it out of the mountain alive but to me it was Cage & Dante’s fault that they didn’t. They doomed their people. They kidnapped the Grounders for generations, killed them for their blood, & turned them into Reapers. They kidnapped the 48, lied to them, manipulated them, tortured them, & killed them. They were offered peaceful solutions but in the end chose to reject them. As I said before in my overall commentary & recap, I feel bad for Maya & Skaikru’s allies as well as the innocent children but the rest of the Mountain Men died because of their own bad choices.
Rating:
9.4 / 10

Kim I think one of the things a fair share of fans are struggling with is that it seems like Lexa's decisions made no sense in the bigger picture? Like her making the deal is what took them from what looked like a good of chance of winning (with losses) to decidely throwing it away and throwing their allies to the wolves. This then means long term the Mountain Men will be able to move outside freely & will pose a bigger treat than ever. Particularly as no Ark allies with guns to help either.
I want to address this one because I’m seeing it floating around and I think there are way too many unfounded assumptions here.
They had a good chance of winning? That’s a leap.
Yes, they blew the lock on the door and succeeded in getting it open a crack. Here’s what no one seems to be asking: what’s behind that door? MW had lots of shooters up on that ridge, do you think they have any fewer planted inside that door, ready to mow down anyone who comes through?
We actually wrote a version of the script where the door opened and they had two .50-cals sitting there and they just slaughtered everyone. (It turns out, this is very expensive to produce. Alas.)
Lexa knew that it would be a fight once they got the door open. It was a single entrance through which they’d have to enter. All the MM would have to do is shield themselves reasonably well and make sure they had enough bullets. They’d just be sitting there picking off grounders until every last one was dead. It would have been a killing field. We’re talking about losing hundreds of warriors.
So let’s say, maybe, the grounders use their superior numbers to eventually overwhelm MW’s shooters inside the door. Okay, now they’re inside and they’ve still got a fight ahead of them. They don’t know how many MM there are, what range of weapons they have (though we have seen them use gas, so good luck to the grounders against that), or what their strategy is. Do you trust Cage not to simply execute all the grounder prisoners he no longer needs? I don’t. So then is Lexa doing all this to possibly save no one? That’s a reasonable concern.
Enter Emerson, offering an alternative. Lexa gets all the grounder prisoners back without any of the losses. All she has to do is write off the 44. And Clarke.
And you’re telling me that’s not a good deal?
Lexa is the commander. She has an obligation to do what’s best for her people. Are we really going to say that engaging in a battle where so many will die is better for her people than minimizing her losses?
Like it or not, this is what leaders have to do: they have to make the hard choices. They have to set aside their personal feelings and look at a situation objectively. Hundreds of lives lost to maybe save some of her people vs zero lives lost to save everyone.
Hell, that’s no choice at all. And as Indra said in 214, Lexa’s a great commander because she’s ruthless.
And if you’re wondering about the future, with the MM walking on the ground? If I were Lexa, I’d have my scouts keeping watch and send assassins to off anyone who dared leave MW’s protection. The terms of the deal were to leave the immediate area. There is absolutely nothing stopping her from exterminating them later if she feels that’s in the best interests of her people.
Lexa is choosing to live to fight another day, for all her people. It’s not evil. It’s not pretty. It’s war.

The 100: Rewatch S2, EP 15: Blood Must Have Blood Pt 1
Synopsis: As the Grounder army prepare to attack Mount Weather, a desperate Cage turns to Dante for help, and Raven and Wick experience a major setback. (IMDB)
Overall Commentary & Recap:
Mount Weather Storyline:
In the mountain Bellamy & Echo work to free the Grounders while the 44 are under threat as Cage tells the rest of Mount Weather that they’re the key to finally leaving the mountain.
I love Bellamy & Echo in Mount Weather. Bellamy came back for her & then she worked with him to free the rest of the Grounders. Echo really commands the other Grounders who are making too much noise to be freed & you can tell that Bellamy’s kinda impressed. Then she thanks him for saving her life & tells another Grounder he can trust Bellamy.
Jasper & Maya are being hidden with a couple who have refused the blood treatment a ton of times. Yet one of the Mountain Men realizes they’re there & threatens to kill the couple so Jasper reveals himself but it doesn’t save them. The couple is executed anyway for aiding & abetting the 44.
I loved Maya & Vincents relationship in this episode. It’s so tragic. Vincent won’t let the guard take Maya & tells them they’ll have to go through him to take her. When he survives this encounter his last words to Maya are that her mom would be so proud of her. Yet in the end the Mountain Men found him with the others in the harvest chamber & he was executed. When Maya finds her dad it’s so heartbreaking. I wish Maya could’ve somehow survived because she was so awesome & so was her dad.
Dante realizes how bad the situation is for his people when he talks to Cage so he decides to help. He also realizes that it’s not the commander that he has to worry about; it’s Clarke. In the end it’s his idea to offer Lexa the deal to save her prisoners, which breaks the alliance. Yet I don’t understand what Dante wants & how he thinks this will save his people since he knows that Clarke won’t stop until her friends are freed & for most of the season he has wanted to save the 47. How come he didn’t try to negotiate with Clarke & ask Skaikru to donate their bone marrow? That would’ve saved his people. I feel like Dante either has to choose to save his own clan & kill the 47 or he should’ve created a deal with Clarke too. What if Dante wanted Mount Weather to die for their sins?
Another thing that I’m curious about is, when our characters blow the dam & take out the power there’s a minute delay until the backup generator kicks in; so how come in that minute without power the mountain isn’t flooded with radiation?
Without the power there’s also another issue; Maya. She can’t go to level 5 because the Mountain Men will kill her for aiding & abetting the 44 but every other level will be flooded with radiation. Then even if she could survive because Jasper tells her they’ll find a hazmat suit & extra oxygen, that won’t help her after the war is over since Cage will never let her live in the mountain. This is when Jasper has the idea to kill him.
One of the most interesting scenes in this episode for me was when Bellamy, Jasper, & Maya find Monty. He was hiding with 12 other members of the 44 but he hid, let them get taken, & didn’t stop the Mountain Men from killing Mrs. Ryan who was hiding them. I feel like Monty is seen as this really virtuous character & often times his more flawed choices are overlooked. This makes his decision here really fascinating to me because he doesn’t do whats moral. He doesn’t stand up for his friends or Mrs. Ryan. Instead he does whats smart & stays behind because the Mountain Men know about the harvest chamber.
In one of the last scenes Cage returns to Dante to tell him that his idea to offer Lexa a deal worked. Cage thinks this means the war is won but Dante knows it’s not over. Dante tells Cage, “peace with the savages isn’t enough to make the ground safe for us.” Dante knows that Skaikru is a threat because they’ll never stop; no parent ever would. This then leaves two options. Dante either needed to create another alliance with Skaikru, like asking them to donate their bone marrow so that everyone could leave the mountain alive or he needed to kill the 44. The fact that Dante acknowledges that Skaikru is a threat also makes me think that if the Mountain Men did win the war, they would’ve just bombed & destroyed Camp Jaha. They would know if they killed the 44, their parents would want revenge & that would not make it safe for them on the ground.
Outside Mount Weather Storyline:
The Grounder & Skaikru army waits outside the doors of Mount Weather. There mission is to open the doors once Raven takes out the power & then attack the guilty Mountain Men but spare the innocent. The whole purpose for those outside the main doors is to act as a distraction while Indra & Octavia’s team lead their prisoners through the Reaper tunnels.
It’s nice to see Papa Miller & Monroe again.
I love seeing Clarke lead & tell everyone the battle plan. The plan is as follows, “there are four teams. Two of them at the damn & in the mine are moving into position already. The third, inside the mountain is freeing the Grounder prisoners as we speak. It is our job as the fourth team to keep the eyes of the enemy off of them for as long as possible. To do that, we have to be in position here at the main door with our entire army. The Mountain men believe the door can’t be opened from the outside so they leave it unguarded; only it can be. And thanks to our source on the inside now we know how. According to Maya, the electromagnetic locking system has one flaw. When the power goes out, it disengages. And thats where Ravens team comes in. The mountains electricity is generated at Philpott Dam. By now, they’ve taken the turbine room. It’s their job to blow the power. Once they do, we blow the lock. There is a catch. A backup generator inside the mountain. If the lock is still functioning when that backup power kicks in we’ll never get that door open. We’ll never get our people back.”
Clarke tells everyone they lost contact with Bellamy & I love Monroes reaction. She’s so worried about him & asks Clarke when they lost contact & what happened.
I love that when the Grounders start to chant jus drein jus daun after Lexa’s awesome speech, Clarke starts to chant it too.
There’s also this nice little moment between David Miller & Lincoln. Lincoln can tell he’s nervous as his hands shake while he carries the bomb that’ll blow the door so the lock can’t reengage when the power comes back on. David’s worried it could already be too late to save them but Lincoln tells him theres still a chance & to draw strength from his son.
Clarke & Lexa also had some awesome moments before the betrayal at the end. Clarkes worried that it’s taking too long for Raven to blow the damn so Lexa reassures her that “it takes as long as it takes”. Then she asks Clarke what she’ll do after the war but Clarke doesn’t know because all she wants is her friends back & thats all she can think about. Then Lexa being the romantic invites her to the capital. This is our first mention of Polis, which Lexa thinks will change the way Clarke feels about the Grounders but Clarke tells her she already has.
Monroe also has this sweet little moment where she reassures everyone that Ravens got it & she’ll get it done at the damn. Who knew Monroe was such a cheerleader; I love it.
When Clarke & Lexa try to use the remote to blow the bomb in the door it doesn’t work but Lincoln saves Clarke as she tries to get closer & the Mountain Men shoot at her. We don’t see a lot of Clarke & Lincoln but what we do get I love.
Then Papa Miller tries to set the bomb manually, for Nate but it doesn’t work so Lincoln lights an arrow on fire & shoots the bomb. Damn Lincoln’s a great shot.
It’s almost time for the betrayal but first Lexa tells Lincoln to stay with Clarke while she takes out the shooters on the ridge so they can open the door & start the attack.
When the door opens our characters understandably think that the Mountain Men will be on the other side but we obviously know thats wrong because we soon see the Grounder prisoners come out as Lexa tells her army to stand down. The Mountain Men offered Lexa a deal to save her people & she took it even though it meant leaving Skaikru behind. Clarke thinks this means Lexa doesn’t care at all when in reality, Lexa made the decision with her head & not her heart & she does still care but she has to save her people, just like Clarke has to save hers. I feel like Lexa’s decision to abandon Skaikru is a divisive one but I think she made the right choice for a few reasons. First of all Lexa didn’t have a ton of time to mull over all her options. She had a few minutes at most to take the deal. Then once the door to the mountain was open her army would’ve stormed in & started to attack which would’ve meant it was too late to take the deal. The reason it would’ve been too late is that while our characters believed the Mountain Men were on the other side of the door, it was really the Grounder prisoners. If Lexa didn’t take the deal & tell her army to stand down, they would’ve started to attack the very people they were there to save. Then even if Lexa’s army didn’t immediately enter the mountain defensively & they realized the prisoners were there it wouldn’t change the fact that the Mountain Men would be on the other side. The Grounder prisoners would just become cannon fodder for the Mountain Men. Then even if the Grounder army could make it past their own prisoners they’d still have to deal with the Mountain Men shooting them down as they entered the mountain to save the 44. How many people would’ve died in this situation where Lexa didn’t take the deal? Instead Lexa was able to save her people who were prisoners & she was able to save the hundreds of Grounders that would’ve died in the war. That seems like a smart decision to me. However, what if the Mountain Men won? Well we know that they want to leave the mountain & they believe the Grounders are savages. If I was Lexa I would wait for all of them to leave the mountain & when they were a safe distance away I would send my warriors to take over Mount Weather. Then after I took the mountain I would have the rest of my army on the outside start to attack them & push them back, like what happened at the end of season one when The 100 tried to flee the dropship. When the Mountain Men were forced back to the mountain I would have my warriors lying in wait to attack & I could still win the war. Lexa essentially would’ve conceded a battle to win the war. On the other hand Lexa could’ve thought that Clarke & Skaikru would win since she knows how dedicated Clarke is to saving her friends. In which case, Lexa is able to save her prisoners, hundreds of her warriors, the 44 survive & her enemy is taken down by Clarke & Skaikru.
The Reaper Tunnels:
Octavia & Indra lead their team through the Reaper tunnels where the prisoners were supposed to exit.
Indra & Octavia’s relationship continues to build as Octavias able to lead the team through the tunnels even without Lincoln. Octavia’s also happy that Indra finally forgave Lincoln. Then we learn that Indras known Lincoln since he was a kid & he always questioned there ways. Yet if he chooses sides against his clan again then even his bravery won’t save him.
Indra has grown so much throughout the season & it’s nice to see that when one of the soldiers starts to shoot when it seems like the Reapers are coming, she tells them to stand down because the Reapers are not the enemy. Indra even seems to recognize one of the Reapers that they take down with the tone generators Raven made & tranquilizers. I wonder who he was because we never find out or see him again.
Indra even tells Octavia that she’s officially one of them, which means so much to Octavia who’s wanted to feel accepted her entire life but never has been. This makes it all the more sad when Indra tells her she’s no longer her second because Octavia doesn’t follow her orders to leave. Then Octavia tells Jackson that she has no home, when he asks her to come back with them.
The Dam:
Raven & Wick set the bombs to blow the power.
While Raven & Wick set the bombs, they realize that there’s still a Mountain Man there who then radios back to tell the mountain that they’re going for the power. This creates a few issues. First of all Wick dropped the last bomb which means the power won’t be shut down & the war can’t be won so everyone they care about will die. This is also Wicks first kill & we can see that he’s in shock so Raven tells him, ”welcome to the ground”. Raven & Wick also argue over the bombs because as Wick tells Raven, all good engineers plan for failure, “two is one, one is none”. Yet this gives Raven an idea to save them, catastrophic failure.
Raven realizes redundancy is how they’re gonna save everyone because the Mountain Men built more turbines then they needed. They’ll blow 4 & the last one will take the load so surge protectors will ramp it down to keep it from blowing up; so they need to shut down the turbine.
Raven & Wick are able to blow the dam but can’t run away fast enough; so they’re captured. At first Wick thinks that Raven wants him to leave her behind & survive which he won’t do but really Raven doesn’t want him leave her at all. She’s afraid & she chooses not to push him away.
Favorite Lines:
“You’ve killed us. One week in office & you’ve managed to turn neighbor against neighbor. You’ve made the Outsiders hate us more than they already did. You lost our outer defenses & now a door that hasn’t been breached in 97 years is going to fall. And an army of savages is going to flood these halls killing every last one of us.” - Dante
“This is a rescue mission; we are not here to wipe them out. There are people inside that mountain that have helped us. Children who have nothing to do with this war. We kill their soldiers; their leadership if we have to but we are here to rescue our people.” - Clarke
“The mountain has cast a shadow over these woods for too long. They’ve hunted us, controlled us, turned us into monsters. That ends today. Thanks to our alliance with the Sky People, the mountain will fall. As Clarke said, we spare the innocent. As for the guilty, jus drein jus daun.” - Lexa
“For those we’ve lost and to those we’ll soon find.” - Clexa

The 100: Rewatch S2, EP 14: Bodyguard Of Lies
Synopsis: As Jaha and Murphy encounter a perilous obstacle on their journey, Raven and Wick try to figure out how to disable the acid fog, and Bellamy races against time as his cover is blown. (IMDB)
Overall Commentary & Recap:
The City Of Light Storyline:
Jaha continues to lead his followers into the unknown to find the City Of Light. This time they walk into a field of land mines.
Jaha is still resolute in his faith that the City Of Light is out there & it’s their destiny to find it. He just thinks the land mines are a test of their faith & even in the end when theres nothing on the other side of the desert, while he starts to question things, he still doesn’t give up. I feel like fans don’t like Jahas intense dedication to the City Of Light when he has little to no proof of its existence but it didn’t bother me. He believes theres this awesome place where everyone will be accepted & his people will be safe. Is it a bit naive? Sure; but he wants whats best for Skaikru. At the same time his followers chose to trek through the desert with him. They had a chance to turn back before & made own choice to follow him.
What I did wonder in this section of the episode was how were Jaha, Murphy, & the others surviving? We know that in the last episode the others turned back because they were out of supplies since Emori & Otan stole them. We also know that on the Ark they needed to ration & there were times when they went two days without water. Yet now they’re walking through the desert all day; it’s gotta be hot & they’re burning a lot of calories from the walk. Wouldn’t they need more water & food under these conditions? How much time passed since they lost their supplies?
While Jaha & the others don’t find the City Of Light, we do learn more about it. Like it’s powered with solar panels & there are drones.
Mount Weather:
In the mountain Bellamy’s cover is blown but he still needs to destroy the acid fog.
I wonder how the Mountain Men took so long to realize that Lovejoy was dead. I mean he has a kid & a job on the guard; you’d think his absence would be noticed sooner.
Cage & Emerson start to change their defense strategy as they go public with what the 47 did on level 5, contaminating the level & killing 10 soldiers. They also start to search the mountain door to door to find the kids. Yet in the end they lose their greatest defense which is the acid fog.
Bellamy is finally able to deal with the acid fog issue while Raven & Wick talk him through it. He doesn’t have a plan for what to do & his idea is to blow the tanks. Yet Raven & Wick convince him to think this one through. At first it seems like it worked & the acid has been neutralized but then luckily Bellamy notices one of the gauges on the tank is still acidic. It didn’t work when he told them it did & now the army is coming into range of the acid fog which the Mountain Men will use to kill them all. So Bellamy has to blow the tanks like he wanted to & he manages to survive in the nick of time.
In the end the Veil is down & the Reapers can’t take a force this large; so all the Mountain Men have now are the doors.
Outside the Mountain:
Clarke worries about what the battle to come & works to save Octavia from Lexa.
Clarke & Lexa have a lot of awesome moments in Bodyguard Of Lies. At the first Clarke is worried about all the things that could go wrong in the war while Lexa tries to calm her down. She reminds her that the questions she’s asking herself now have already been asked & answered. Yet she understands because when she first took command she did the same as Clarke. Clarke & Lexa also talk about Bellamy. Clarke’s worried that he can’t disable the acid fog & she sent him into the mountain where he’ll die. Then since Lexa’s into Clarke she tries to suss out the competition. Lexa thinks Clarke cares about Bellamy but Clarke tells her, “I care about all of them”. Yet Lexa still thinks she cares about Bellamy more, so Clarke tells her, “I couldn’t have kept us alive all this time without him. We need him & now I might be the one who gets him killed.” If the writers added this scene to talk about romantic Bellarke then it seems like the answer is that Clarke isn’t into him. Yes she cares about him because he’s her friend & she’s afraid he’ll die because of her decision. Yes, she needs him too but that doesn’t mean she needs him in a romantic sense; she needs him as a leader because he can influence those around him & inspire them.
On a side note when it comes to Clarkes decision to send Bellamy into the mountain it kinda annoys me that Clarke antis act like she’s such an asshole for this & like it’s a sign that she doesn’t value Bellamy’s life. It was Bellamy’s idea to be an inside man in Mount Weather, not Clarkes. Yes in the end he didn’t leave until Clarke told him to but he still chose to take the risk because he wanted to save his friends. I’m sure if he didn’t want to do it Lexa would’ve sent one of her warriors instead. While Clarke isn’t innocent because she made the final call, I wouldn’t have blamed her if Bellamy died.
“You could be a leader your people look to. Pour their hopes & dreams into. Someone they would fight & die for.” - Lexa. On the one hand I love this line because it’s awesome & Lexa believes that Clarke was born to be a leader. Yet on the other hand it makes me sad because I feel like the show never let Clarke live up to what she could’ve been. I don’t think she ever became the leader that her people poured their hopes & dreams into or would die for. Her friends hated her for most of the series. We rarely if ever saw her interact with the general public that she was fighting so hard to save. Clarke on many occasions risked her life to save her friends but how often did her friends do the same for her? I feel like Clarke was respected as a leader the most in season one & a decent amount in season two but as the show went on she had less & less respect. I feel like a lot of the characters followed Clarke for the same reason Octavia mentioned in this episode which is that Octavia wanted to save her friends. That was her mission. She was following the mission, not Clarke.
When it comes to Octavia, we see that she’s realized Clarke knew that Tondc would be bombed. This starts to create a divide in their friendship. Octavia even tells her, “I’ll fight this war with you now because I want our friends back but after that we’re done”. Octavia doesn’t care for Clarkes reasons either when she tells her it was to save Bellamy & win the war. I find Octavia’s words to Clarke to be fascinating as she tells her, “no, Bellamy would’ve never told you to do that. He would’ve found another way”. This idea that Bellamy never would’ve let the bomb hit Tondc seems a bit extreme. I mean he caused 300 members of Skaikru to die in the culling & Murphy was his ally but he kicked the bucket out from underneath him to hang him. He also liked the idea for the Ring Of Fire which was used to save The 100. That makes me think that if he believed that sacrificing Tondc was necessary to achieve his mission & save his friends, then he would’ve done it. Now I could see him running back to save Octavia, like Clarke went back for Abby but I don’t think that he would never do it.
There’s this awesome moment after Octavia confronts Clarke about Tondc where Lexa & Octavia have this brief stare down. It makes me wish we saw more of them because Lexa & Octavia would’ve been a badass team.
Clarke realizes that Lexa can’t trust Octavia & has sent someone to assassinate her but Clarke saves her & convinces Lexa to stand down. This is when Clarke backs Lexa into a table & calls her out because Clarke understands Lexa too. She knows that even if Lexa tries not to care, she does. She cared about Gustus, Costia, & Tondc. Then Lexa reveals that she cares about Clarke too but when Clarke asks her to trust her about Octavia, Lexa tells her she can’t. Clarke then tells Lexa, “I can’t sacrifice my people anymore. If you do anything to hurt Octavia, I’ll tell everyone we knew about the missile”. I love that Clarke is willing to endanger her own life to save Octavia’s because if the truth came out there would definitely be a lot of people that would want Clarke dead.
In the end Lexa decides to trust Clarke even if it’s hard & this is when we have the Clexa kiss! When I first watched the show I saw little hints that they might be into each other but I honestly never thought it would really happen. I was so excited that I actually saw it coming & they really made the female lead bisexual. I also loved that there relationship started kinda slow. Like Clarke didn’t rush into things with Lexa. Clexa wasn’t treated as a rebound after Finn. I feel like the fact that Clarke pulls away & tells Lexa she’s not ready yet, shows that she would want something real with her.
The last scene I want to talk about is the moment between Indra & Octavia where it’s revealed that Indra knows about Clexa’s decision at Tondc. Octavia doesn’t understand how Indra can be ok with them after she almost died but Indra tells her, “they didn’t do anything; the enemy did. Lexa’s a great commander because she’s ruthless. Thats how we’ll win this battle”. Octavia still thinks it’s wrong but Indra tells her, “that’s war”. I love that Indra understands that war has a cost & sacrifices need to be made in order to win. It’s brutal & it’s not fair but it was the Mountain Men who bombed them.
Camp Jaha:
In Camp Jaha Raven & Wick work together to help Bellamy destroy the acid fog.
I love Wick & I’m so happy he’s back! Him & Raven work great together.
When Bellamy radios them, I love that Wick asks how his boy Monty is. I would’ve loved to have seen those two together.
Raven & Wick also convince Bellamy not to blow up the acid fog because of the following reasons. Wick tells him, “they’ll know their defenses are down; they’ll send a tech to fix it, reroute it, or pull up some other weapon we don’t even know about.” While Raven tells him, “plus you’d probably melt your face off”.
Raven ends up making the first move on Wick but after they sleep together she doesn’t seem all that happy. Wick can even sense that somethings wrong because she shut down on him. Yet Raven doesn’t wanna talk about whatever’s bothering her & Wick lets her know, “look if you wanna do this, I’m in; but I’m not gonna play games. So figure it out.” I loved Raven & Wick together. I personally think he was the best love interest Raven had. That being said I think this scene unintentionally sets up Wick’s exit from the show really well.
MVP:
Bellamy: He risked his life to blow up the acid fog & in the end he saved everyone. The Mountain Men were seconds away from killing them all with the acid fog but Bellamy came through in the end.
Favorite Line:
“You could be a leader your people look to. Pour their hopes & dreams into. Someone they would fight & die for.” - Lexa
“Maybe life should be about more than just surviving.“ - Clarke

The 100: Rewatch S2, EP 13: Resurrection
Synopsis: Clarke begins to question Lexa's leadership decisions and Indra continues to push Octavia. Meanwhile, at Mount Weather, Jasper steps up into the role of leader, and Cage throws Maya into a life threatening situation. (IMDB)
Overall Commentary & Recap:
Tondc Storyline:
In Tondc Octavia tries to save those who are stuck in the rubble while Abby & Kane talk about Clarkes decision not to save Tondc. Meanwhile Clarke, Lexa, & Lincoln look for the sniper who is still attacking Tondc.
Clarke struggles with the decision she made to not save Tondc as she watches it burn. At first she’s frozen in shock & Lexa needs to shake her out of it. Then she becomes angry & says, “I want the Mountain Men dead; all of them”. This is a great bit of foreshadowing for whats to come at the end of the season but in this moment I think Clarkes just pissed. She doesn’t really mean it & she still wants to spare the innocent. Next Clarke makes it her mission to take out the sniper who aligned the missile & is now shooting the survivors. Yet even after she takes him out, it still doesn’t make her feel better. Clarke takes an awesome shot & she’s able to kill the sniper without killing Lincoln, who wants Clarke to sacrifice him for her people but Clarke lets him know that he’s her people too. Clarke & Lincoln would’ve been a cool dynamic to further explore. They’re both artists, who want peace, but are capable of making the hard choices. Generally speaking, I also just like Clarke & the Grounders more because the Grounders understand that hard choices need to be made while Clarkes Skaikru friends are much more judgmental of her.
Theres also a moment where Lexa looks back to see Tondc burn & we can see that she does care about the lives that were lost.
When it came to Lincoln, he was focused on his mission to take out the sniper. As a result, for the most part his Reaper storyline was on the back burner. I kinda wish it was a little bit more present since in the last episode he was struggling with it so much but there were still some moments in this one. After the initial attack when he realized Indra was alive, she was still not a fan of him as she told him, “put me down, Reaper”. Then of course, as he fought the sniper, the man pulled out a tone generator which caused Lincoln to lose the upper hand he had.
Octavia really steps up in this episode to prove herself as Indras second. At first the other seconds won’t follow her because she’s from Skaikru & she’s told, “you are the bringers of death”. Yet as the sniper has them pinned down Octavia finds a solution to cover them & make it to the rubble to save those who are stuck under it. She uses a bottle of alcohol & throws it into a fire so the smoke can prevent the sniper from getting his shot. It’s really smart & it works & afterwards the other seconds start to follow her.
One of the best moments in Resurrection was the scene between Kane & Abby stuck under the rubble. Initially Abby’s really mad about what Clarke did & she doesn’t understand how she could let Tondc be bombed. Yet Kane understands & tells Abby, “because she grew up on the Ark. She learned what to do from us. She made a choice; like executing people for stealing medicine and food. Like sucking the air from the lungs of 300 parents so they could save their children.” Abby starts to realize her similar mistakes & remembers that she sold out Jake which led to him being floated. At the start of the series Abby told Kane that she would make sure they deserved to survive & now she asks him, “after everything we’ve done do we even deserve to survive?”
There were also some other nice moments in this storyline like when Indra came around to Lincoln & Octavia watched them start to bond. I also loved Lexa’s line to Clarke about survival, “we do what we must to survive; the enemy does the same. It’s not personal”. Then near the end of the episode Sinclair & Jackson as well as some other members of Skaikru come to Tondc to help them.
Lexa also had an awesome short little speech when she returned to Tondc. She told the survivors, “what happened here will not stand. The Mountain will fall. The dead will be avenged!” Alycia does such a great job of commanding power with Lexa.
Mount Weather Storyline:
In Mount Weather Jasper worked to make sure the 47 could hold level 5.
Jasper was awesome in this one. He had smart ideas to hold the level & was able to hold off the Mountain Men because of it. He had the 47 barricade the doors with the beds & other furniture, collect knifes & other items to use as weapons, take care of the cameras, & he told Harper to fill pots with water.
I love the fight in Mount Weather so much. It’s one of the most underrated scenes in the entire series. Jasper remembered that the Mountain Men used the knockout gas to take them & thats why he asked Harper to fill buckets with water. When the Mountain Men attacked he neutralizes the gas & the 47 are able to attack & hold the level. The fight is so brutal & raw. It’s not like shooting a gun from a distance or burning the Grounders from the safety of the dropship. It’s up close & personal.
Jasper also tells Fox when she’s afraid, to follow the plan & they’ll be ok but in the end she’s taken & Jasper couldn’t protect her. This is when we see a much darker side to Jasper as he takes his axe & murders one of the Mountain Men that was left behind.
There’s also a really sad moment in this episode as Bellamy & Jasper are fully able to reunite & hug freely without fear of the Mountain Men finding them. Bellamy tells Jasper that Clarkes coming with an army of Grounders & Jasper comments, “don’t tell me Finn finally got his peace talk”.
Bellamy was also awesome in Resurrection as he worked to save Fox & Maya from the Mountain Men. Bellamy has a really hard job as the inside man because on the one hand he needs to disable the acid fog so that the Grounders & Skaikru can come rescue them; Plus he needs to release the Grounders from their cages inside the mountain. If he can’t do this, the war can’t be won. Then the longer he takes to do this the greater the chance he’ll never be able to it at all because he’ll be found. Yet he has to make sure the 47 are alive because otherwise when his allies do come there won’t be anyone to save.
We also learn more about Maya & her motivations which run deeper than her feelings for Jasper. Maya’s parents were both apart of a movement against using outsider blood & Maya’s mom died for her believes as she refused the blood treatment. This convinces Maya’s father to aid her & keep the 47 safe. He even convinces some of his other friends to hide the kids. Mr. Vie also tells Bellamy a harsh truth, “you know they’ll never stop, right; if the rumors are true & your bone marrow can get us back to the ground, they’ll never stop.”
When the 47 need to be divided Monty doesn’t want to leave his friends. He tells Bellamy, “we do this together; we survive together”.
MVP:
Jasper: He was so badass & smart as he worked to save the 47.
Favorite Line:
“Victory stands on the back of sacrifice” - Lexa
“I won’t let you die” - Jasper, “I won’t let you surrender” - Maya
“You’ve done well, Octavia of the Sky People. Today you saved lives. Tomorrow you’ll take them.” - Indra
“I need you to do something for me. Don’t forget that we’re the good guys.” - Abby
Flaws:
Lincoln was really struggling last episode with the drugs the Mountain Men gave him but in this episode he seems back to his old self.

The 100: Rewatch S2, EP 12: Rubicon
Synopsis: Clarke is faced with a difficult choice and Raven helps Bellamy navigate Mount Weather as Dr. Tsing begins to harvest the 47, while Jaha and Murphy encounter a stranger on their journey to the City of Light. (IMDB)
Overall Commentary & Recap:
Mount Weather Storyline:
In Mount Weather Bellamy works to find & save The 100 as well as turn off the acid fog while Jasper steps up to lead the 47.
The 47 band together & lock arms & use pipes from the beds to defend themselves from the Mountain Men who come to take them away to kill them for their bone marrow. Bellamy even gives Jasper a gun but it’s not enough to save them from Dr. Tsing. That is until Dante tells Bellamy to vent the air & cause a containment breach which allows them to take the level. I love the little moments between our characters like when Harper is almost taken away but Monty holds onto her & Jasper yells at the Mountain Men to get off her. Then later when they almost take Monty, Jasper shoots one of the guards & Miller uses a pipe to defend him. Then of course Bellamy & Raven rescue all of them with the breach.
We also learn that the Mountain Men will bomb Tondc. This creates a lot of issues of course & Bellamy’s first concern is Octavia. Yet Clarke lies to him & makes him believe that she’s safe at camp because he needs to focus on the mission. This reminds me of when Clarke made Bellamy believe that Octavia was safe in the dropship last season when the Grounders attacked with the virus but she really sent Octavia to find the cure. It also shows that Clarke is wiling to sacrifice her own people, like Octavia & Kane but not Abby. It makes sense that she’s biased in favor of her family but it’s also unfair of her to save Abby while she leaves the others to die; so I can see why fans would hate what Clarke did. It’s also interesting that Raven is the one who tells Bellamy the truth & he’s not upset with Clarke he’s upset that Raven didn’t tell him the truth. I think this shows how much Bellamy trusts & cares about Raven that it’s her lie that bothers him more. I really like Bellamy & Raven’s relationship; it was so underrated & I wish we saw more of it but this season was the best for them.
Bellamy is also really interesting in this episode as he sneaks around the mountain to save his friends. Yet he kinda acts very much in the moment. When he first reunites with Jasper & hands him the gun & Jasper asks what the plan is, Bellamy doesn’t have one & just tells him he’s working on it. I mean I understand that he can’t plan for everything but I feel like Bellamy never has a plan. This is one of Bellamy’s greatest flaws to me but one of his best assets is that he can use the allies he has around him well. He’s able to work well with Jasper who tells him to find Dante. Then he’s able to convince Dante to buy some time for the 47 & he works with Raven to implement this. And of course it was Clarkes plan for him to lower the enemies defenses & release the Grounders from their cages which he does in the end.
Once level 5 is contaminated Jasper tells the 47 to take the level. He tells Monty to get the cameras & Miller to get their guns. I just love to see him step up as a leader. Then as Dr. Tsing is about to escape he holds open the elevator & repeats her own words back to her as she dies, “I hope you know that you’re incredibly special to us.” You’d think that Dr. Tsing would’ve cured herself with the radiation treatment but I guess not. I also find it interesting that Dante helps Bellamy contaminate the level & kill his own people but then later hates Clarke & turns against her because she endangers his people by blowing the damn.
The containment breach also alerts Cage to the fact that Dante has allies but at the moment Bellamy is still safe.
Cage also tells Dante that he bombed Tondc so that with Clarke & Lexa dead the alliance will break & the savages will kill each other again so that they can take the ground. Dante tells him it only cost him his soul.
Camp Jaha Storyline:
At Camp Jaha Raven works on taking down Mount Weathers defenses & saving her friends.
Raven so far hasn’t started to deal with the acid fog because Bellamy hasn’t given her enough information about it & so theres only so much she can do. She’s also still working on figuring out how to cut power to the damn & has made two tone generators. Clarke’s not happy about all this because she needs to tell Lexa & the other Grounder leaders that they’re a go, at the meeting in Tondc but they’re not ready at all to take down the Mountain Men.
I love that even with all Ravens issues with Clarke she can see how stressed Clarke is & hugs her before she runs off to save Tondc.
Then the acid fog issue is further delayed as Bellamy tells Clarke that their friends are starting to be taken from the dorms & killed. Clarke then tells him he has to find them & if he doesn’t then all this is for nothing. Idk why but I like this detail because it shows that Clarke isn’t so consumed with the war effort that she’s lost focus of the real mission which is there friends. She’s not motivated by revenge; saving their lives is more important than destroying the acid fog.
“Clarke, being a good leader means knowing which battles to fight.” - Kane
Jaha & Murphy Storyline:
Jaha & Murphy’s team travel the Dead Zone in search of the City Of Light.
This ended up being my favorite storyline of the episode because we were introduced to Emori. Idk what it is about Emori but she always puts a smile on my face & she’s such a cool character. It’s also the start to Memori, which is one of the best relationships on the show.
It’s interesting that Emori speaks english when we were told only warriors do & Emori was obviously banished from her clan so she’s not technically a warrior. I guess Baylis taught her.
Emori tells Jaha that almost everyone in the Dead Zone is looking for the City Of Light but almost no one finds it.
Murphy & Emori talk about what made each of them cross the beach from hell. We learn that Emori didn’t chose to leave & at first she doesn’t want to tell Murphy why because she’s afraid he won’t look at her the same. Yet she does in the end tell him or rather show him, her mutated hand. She tells him, “my people saw me as a stain on the bloodline, something to erase”. I think Murphy resented the leaders of Skaikru for treating him like a pawn & when Emori tells him her story he realizes how much worse she had it & his reaction feels so genuine. She was cast out for nothing. I love that Murphy then tells her, “screw em. I wouldn’t cover it up. I think it’s pretty badass”.
Murphy was also afraid to tell Emori the truth about his past because he didn’t want someone else to hate him & he didn’t want to blow it with Emori. Yet he’s honest with her about his crimes. He tells her he killed two people, tried to kill two more, & that he had his reasons but no one cared. He’s the bad guy. I like Emori’s response to Murphy too. She’s as interested in him & he is in her. She also seems unfazed that Murphy has killed before.
Yet in the end Emori kinda betrays Murphy. Otan is still alive & the two of them take Murphy & the others stuff. However she did start to care about him so she tells him where he can find the City Of Light; due north.
I like the little detail when Otan asks Emori if they have tech because we know that they collect tech for ALIE. It’s cool that it’s set up here & didn’t come out of nowhere in season three.
“We all came out here searching for a better life, same as you. Maybe we can find it. If we work together.” - Jaha
“I believe this is what they call having faith, John” - Jaha, “Faith? Nah, I just got nothing better to do.” - Murphy
Tondc Storyline:
In Tondc the leaders from all the clans gather to meet about the war effort.
We learn that the last time Azgeda was in Tondc they were at war but now the 12 clans are fighting together. Indra tells Octavia, “remember this day. You may never see one like it again”. Yet Octavias to worried about Lincoln & can’t focus. Indra needs to remind her to focus on the war & she can mourn her losses later.
Clarke arrives in Tondc in time to warn them about the missile & Octavia can sense that somethings wrong but Clarke says nothing.
I loved Clarke & Lexas discussion about how to deal with the missile. I’m sure a lot of fans hated what they did but I think it was a necessary evil. Lexa was right when she said “sometimes you have to concede a battle to win a war”. It’s also not like Clarke was heartless. She tried to convince Lexa with a ton of ideas to save Tondc. She told Lexa, “we can inform the leaders of the clans. Pick a rendezvous point in the woods. Each of them can slip out separately”, “cancel the meeting; start a fire, do something”, & “what if we made them miss?” Yet Lexa didn’t believe it was worth the risk to save Tondc at the expense of the entire war. She believed, “if we evacuate, they’ll know we have a spy inside there walls”, “is the acid fog disabled? Is our sleeping army uncaged? Then Bellamy’s job is not done. Without him, we can’t win this war”, the army will be safe inside the woods, & “this is war Clarke. People die”. Clarke & Lexa made the smart call in the end as brutal as it was. What if they saved Tondc but Bellamy was found sooner & as a result Jasper & the others couldn’t take level 5 & the acid fog was never disabled? What if saving Tondc cost them the war & more lives in the future? The Mountain Men have been destroying them for generations & this is the first time they’ve had a real chance to beat them. We know that Clarke & Lexa sacrificed 250 people in Tondc. What we don’t know is how many people would’ve been lost if they won this battle but it cost them the war. We don’t know how many Grounders are in Mount Weather but lets think. What if there were 100 Grounders in the mountain & the 47 & all of them died? Thats 147 lives lost which seems better than the 250 lives sacrificed but those 250 lives were sacrificed to win the war. However if the war was lost it wouldn’t have just cost 147 lives because the Mountain Men would’ve been free to take the Earth & would’ve still had their defenses. They still would’ve believed the Grounders were savages & the war would’ve continued. They could’ve bombed Arkadia to avoid the families of the 47 wanting revenge. They could’ve continued to attack the Grounders with the acid fog & bombed them again too. Idk, I feel like it’s easy to say Clarke & Lexa were wrong when we never saw the alternative play out. Who knows though, maybe Clarke & Lexa were wrong? Maybe they could’ve saved both Tondc & the prisoners in Mount Weather or maybe it would’ve cost them even more lives. We’ll never know what could’ve been.
I saw this comment on Reddit that I feel like shows the real world similarities to Clexa’s decision.
Tumblr media
I also don’t believe that Lexa manipulated Clarke. Clarke came to her with the intel & like Lexa points out, she could’ve told everyone the truth as soon as she arrived in Tondc. Instead she chose to hold onto the information & didn’t even tell her own people. She knew what needed to be done. She voiced her side to save Tondc & her concerns about the decision while Lexa voiced her side & the reasons she wanted to leave Tondc to die. In the end Lexa won & Clarke decided to follow her lead. I don’t see how it was manipulation. Lexa didn’t threaten to kill her. She didn’t threaten to break her alliance with Clarke if she didn’t fall in line. She didn’t use whatever new feelings she had for Clarke to influence her. Clarke has also made ruthless decisions before, like when she had the idea for the Ring Of Fire. Of course this is different because it’s not a last resort but thats why Clarke struggles with the decision. She has also been willing to sacrifice her friends before since she killed Finn a few episodes ago. She also didn’t want to sacrifice him, like she didn’t wanna sacrifice Tondc but in the end she still did it.
Clarkes decision to not warn Tondc also makes me think of Jake. Clarke was driven to tell the truth at the start of the series & when she lets the bomb hit Tondc, I think it’s the first time that we see her withhold the truth from the masses.
Lincoln also comes back in this episode & we learn that he did betray Bellamy before. It wasn’t the plan for him to take the Red & for Bellamy to become a prisoner.
Lincoln is clearly struggling with the effects of the mountains drugs as well as being a Reaper. Yet Octavia wants to stand with him. She tells him he can beat it & she’ll fight it with him. Yet when Lincoln struggles with what choice to make Octavia hits him & tells him, “Grounders don’t give up. We fight; either you get up & we fight this or you crawl away & die alone like a coward.” I feel like Octavia is really harsh but at the same time I get what she’s saying. Octavia isn’t calling Lincoln weak for being a Reaper or for the drugs because she knows none of that is his fault. Yet he does have a choice to accept help & she thinks it’s weak of him to not do that. I realize she could’ve been a bit nicer about it but I see where she’s coming from.
“The last time they used a missile was before I was born. According to legend, it left a hole in the woods you could not see across. Now lets go.” - Lexa
When Abby realizes that Clarke knew about the missile she asks, “please tell me this was Lexa?” Yet Clarke owns her decision & tells her “I wish I could”. Clarke was alone with Abby & easily could’ve placed all the blame on Lexa but she doesn’t which I love. A lot of the other characters have a tendency to place all the blame on Clarkes shoulders for decisions they made with her; so I’m happy that she doesn’t do that to Lexa.
MVP:
Emori: She had such an awesome character introduction that allowed us to expand our knowledge of the Grounder world. Plus she was badass & cool.
Murphy: I loved to see Murphy really work to turn over a knew leaf. I mean he already started to do so earlier in the season but after Jaha offered him a chance & told him “you wanna stop being treated like a criminal then you have to stop thinking that that’s all you are”, I feel like he’s trying even harder. Yet at the same time he doesn’t hide from his past & he tells Emori about his crimes.
Jasper: He stepped up to lead & defend the 47 a lot in this episode.
Clarke & Lexa: I know some fans might’ve hated what Clarke & Lexa did to Tondc but war is brutal & sometimes sacrifices need to be made.
Favorite Storyline:
The Dead Zone: I love Memori & seeing their origins just made me happy.
