Wow. It's been over a year! I moved to Belgium and started a business, so it's been hectic. I have made quite a few things, so I'll have to get back to posting.
Here is my latest:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A knitted cashmere/alpaca ear band for biking. Just in time for it to warm up! Lol.
I am working on some pants, but the pattern isn't great, so I tried a different one and it doesn't fit, so I'm still fiddling. Eventually I want to have a good, solid trousers pattern that I can alter for style.
I am also getting ready to do the white 14th century bra with skirt. And, instead of making one of blue linen/silk/cotton I am making it from some beautiful red and black silk I bought from an artisan collective in Cambodia. I'll be using black ramie to line it and some black silk crepe gores in the skirt.
I've also got a corded corset, slippers, and some mending in progress! Lots to do!

Finished the 14th Century Bra bodice. Super excited as if works by itself, under things, and over things!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a but cropped, so if I make another bodice I will definitely make it a little longer. Eyelets are all hand sewn!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will eventually be making a full shift out of this pattern in white linen and perhaps another bodice. I am also making an overdress with this same linen/cotton/silk blend, but in light blue.
Next, however, is a corset shirt I designed and a pair of corselet pants (picture from pattern below).

Wool/cashmere viking coat, done!!
Tumblr media
I even made a quick hood...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also finished the grey button down t tunic
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like how both turned out. They both also look great unbuttoned over stuff, so that's good!
I am almost done with the red linen/cotton/silk 14th century bra, as well
Tumblr media
I just need the eyelets, which I have to do by hand. I also did a seam allowance grade for the straps, keeping the 1/2 inch seam allowance at the ends, and bringing it out to 1/4 in the middle for some extra thickness (more comfy when holding up the girls).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next will be the mockups for some corselet pants and overalls.

I finished the t tunic with the Queen Anne inspired neckline, but haven't taken pictures. They will be here soon.
In the meantime, I am working on the 14th century bra pattern again after tweaking. Here is the super efficient cutting layout on the leftover linen/cotton/silk blend.
Tumblr media
I will be putting this piece together after I finish my grey button up t tunic as the thread and buttons have arrived!!
I am also most of the way through a "viking" coat. I used the same method as t tunics, but with a shoulder seam as the cashmere/wool blend I have has a specific grain to it, like velvet, so I had to cut the front panels and back panel separately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is a beautiful midnight blue and has leather, cotton, and wood fasteners. I forgot to put pockets in the side seams 🤦‍♀️so I will be ripping out a portion there to add them in, then hemming the sleeves and hem and done! It's comfy, flattering, and warm!

Finished the apron dress! Teal jacquard wool.
Tumblr media
I had to put a couple cartridge pleats in the back to shape the top hem, but otherwise, the same pattern as my t tunics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also hand embroidered the front straps to the dress. I think it turned out well. Just a triskele pattern with a chain stitch. The embroidery, with a few tack at the corners, hold the straps in place at the front.
Tumblr media
I'm also starting a new hemp strap.
Tumblr media
I am using the Seizenn pattern app to mess with plain weave patterns. Here is my progress so far...
Tumblr media
Maybe I can start weaving trim for my projects!
Spinning tomorrow and a new t tunic with a new neckline. Nothing I've done before!

I'm still doing some spinning, but I've been moving on to some more t tunics!
The dress is finished! Except for some hem and cuff embroidery.
Tumblr media
I used my decorative stitches to embroider the facing and it looks amazing! It was too plain before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've also started a button up t tunic!
Tumblr media
I just cut the front open and added plackets. I then decided to add a mandarin collar. It isn't perfect, but it is serviceable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I need to fit the waist, french the side seams, then hem. When my buttons get here, then I can finish it. I have run out of grey thread, though, and burned myself by glancing the iron...
Tumblr media
So no more sewing or spinning today. I do have another t tunic and an apron dress cur out, so they will be next when I can see again!

I've taken a detour! I started learning spinning and weaving! I'm using a drop spindle to spin. Here is my first attempt.
Tumblr media
Here is the wet finished mini skein.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I definitely need to work on the consistency of the draft and the finishing, but I'm on the right track! I can call this art yarn. I also had my partner make me an Inkle loom! Here it is warped up.
Tumblr media
And here is my first sample project!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The best part about both of these is once they are setup and started, I can start and stop. This means if I get tired or have to do something else, I can just put it up and start back later.
The Inkle loom also works in bed I can weave on sick days!
Super excited for making my own yarn to weave with!

Chugging right along, I finished the white t tunic, except for the sleeve ties. I need a tube turning device and I don't have one at the moment, so I am waiting on that for the sleeves. I also am thinking I won't make the neck lace up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I first recut the facing and put it in, then added a decorative stitch around the edge.
Tumblr media
I think it came out nice. Then it was just french seaming the side seams up to the sleeve cuffs and hemming! All done!
Tumblr media
I then moved on to the t tunic dress in wool. I cut out and sewed in the facing.
Tumblr media
Then I cut the sleeves to their desired tightness by draping. These sleeves are narrow because it is an underdress, so things must be able to slip over it.
Tumblr media
I am leaving the sleeves as they are, ending in the selvage, so just side seams and hemming for this dress to be finished!

I will be making 4 t tunics in different styles. The purple v neck and v hem, a four gored handkerchief style, a white linen with neck lacing and sleeve ties, and a button up high low hem. All but the white are shown as digital mockups below.
Tumblr media
I've started the white, but I cut the facing wrong. This facing goes on the outside as a decorative facing, but as you can see the inside circle is too big on the facing. I used the wrong bowl.
Tumblr media
I will also be making a full length, long sleeve t tunic dress out of wool. I have it cut, but no pictures yet. This piece is mostly for layering, but I want it to be nice on its own as well.
And, as a bonus, I knitted a hat out of lace weight wool for a secret Santa gift.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I even made the pom pom!

I decided to use hemp twine instead of my cotton for the corset cording, so that is out on hold for a bit. I finished the wool yoga pant dress pants (I thought it was navy, it is black).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This pair has welted pockets, which I'm not sure I will do again. They are comfy and look dressy, though, so I call it a win.
Tumblr media
I also made a quick Ruana cloak out of some wool. I thought I was going to make a t tunic, but it was too scratchy. So, I fulled it in the washer and then put a decorative stitch around the neckline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it looks hobbity and I love it.
Tumblr media
Finally, I am making t tunics! They are quick to cut out, quick to sew up (even with french seams), and easy to customize. This first one is a v neck with a matching v hem.
Tumblr media
Its a thick purple linen with a checkerboard jacquard. I love it's versatility to be worn with pants or leggings and it fits great!
Tumblr media
Next I have a white linen t tunic with a decorative facing at the neckline and a t tunic dress made of very slinky natural linen colored wool.

Wore my new linen yoga pant dress pants.
Tumblr media
They are comfy and look great. I cut out the dark blue wool for the second pair and will get to those soon. I cut out my overbust corset as well, along with a brand new project. I am making a corset top with a pleated/gathered top. It is my first time draping to create my own pattern. Here is how the mock-up turned out.
Tumblr media
I really like how it falls and fits. I used the overbust corset pattern and cut it at the underbust. I then added some fabric at the center front because it will button up to about the shirt you see under the mock-up. Finally, I cut out a square of fabric, 54x80cm, pleated all but about 15-20cm of it, and attached it to the corset. I also sewed through the pleating at the shoulder to keep it in place. I think it looks really good. I am adding a bit more length to the fabric for some extra seam allowance and adding a bit more to the center front of the corset bit for extra stability and coverage. Otherwise, I think it is great.
Tumblr media
The mock-up is a cotton muslin that is a bit stiff, so not as drapery as I'd like for the top. The finished product will be made of linen. I am using a jacquard linen for the underbust corset with a beige linen twill lining and a simple black linen for the pleated top. Hopefully the linen will drape better, but even with some stiffness, I think this will look nice.

Finished the linen yoga pant dress pants!
Tumblr media
They have a faux fly, patch pockets, and an elastic waistband. The elastic does not go through the faux fly to make it look more convincing. The fly also has a button.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now to move on to the wool pair. The wool twill is very light weight and drapey, but sturdy. It looks black, but is a very, very deep navy that could be basically black.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From there I will move on to see corselet pants and my overalls. I also have some fun tunic shirt variations planned, but I need to wait on fabric for those.

Got started on the yoga pant dress pants. These are navy linen twill that I am hoping to make look like dress pants (almost split skirt-ish), but with an elastic waistband. The pattern is loose enough that I can do yoga, as long as the waistband is elastic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started with the faux fly (that pic shows the color best) and then pinned the patch pockets. Then I had to sew all of the top stitching in navy blue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both pockets are on and the side seams have been started. I also made a lot of progress on another dress shirt (black linen) for my partner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also made a quick pair of yoga pants with the same pattern as the yoga pant dress pants to practice the patch pockets.
Tumblr media
These khaki yoga pants (twill linen) came out comfy and pretty functional, so I am hoping that the faux fly version looks nice enough to pass as dress pants. And I've made a tailors ham out of cotton muslin and a bit of leftover blue checked wool and will be filling it with sawdust!
Tumblr media
Lots of projects being worked on and finished! My goal is to finish the 20 or so projects I have on my list by April, so I think I am on track for that.

Finished the short split skirt!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Got the button and pocket in and even hand sewed the pleats down so that the stitching is invisible!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They fit, they are easy to get on and off,and they are so comfy! Super excited. Out if three, this is definitely my best split skirt. Now off to make another pair of yoga/pj pants and two pairs of yoga pant dress pants!
