Okay listen, here’s an explanation:
After publishing all of season one, I took a break before starting to write season two. Obviously, that break was way longer than anyone anticipated. I wrote this story from my laptop (which explains why there is a lot of errors), so I don’t write on my phone and my laptop is crashing but it’s okay now. That being said, shortly I will be back in business. I’m reading season one over to get the feel again and I already have half of ep 1 s2 written.

:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N swung her door open, meeting Luther walking out of Allison’s room.
“Yo, what the hell is going on?” Diego asked.
“Are those explosions comin f-”
“Vanya. We need to get to safety.” Pogo demanded. “outside the Academy.” Diego and Klaus back up.
“Don't forget Mom!” Luther yelled after the two. Y/N looked around the walls. They were crumbing with each rumble, the house was going to fall.
“Go! Now!” Pogo yelled, running in the same direction Klaus and Diego went into. Y/N was her own little fox now, knowing Luther would not help her when he has Allison. She made her way through the Academy, searching for Five, trying to remember if he had mentioned leaving before.
She had just managed to get to the living room when a large explosion went off, the house shaking with it. Y/N ducked, covering her head from the derbies flying from cracked walls. She ran. Running as fast as she could when she tripped on a piece of the ceiling that fell.
“Ugh! Shit!” She groaned out. The impact was enough the leave a scratch on her knee, what was worse was that she hit her bad shoulder on the floor, causing it to throb. She shook her head getting rid of the pain and she lifted herself off the floor. The house started to crumble even faster, almost as fast as her heart.
“No, no, no!” She chanted to herself, Y/N Hargreeves was not about to die from a falling house. As if luck was on her side for the first time, she reached the door mere seconds before the house finally took it’s last breath and fell. She covered her head again as the dust flew around her.
It was only when the silence around her seemed too loud that she removed her arms, coughing as she did so. Y/N looked to her left, seeing her siblings gathering around.
“Where’s Y/N?” A concerned Five glanced around at the siblings standing. They all seemed to not have noticed her absence, looking around as well.
“I-I’m here! I’m here!” She called getting up from her crouched position and made her way through the parts of the former house to her family. Five sighed happily when he sees her, jumping to get closer faster and pull her into a hug. He wrapped an arm around her waist and one cradled her head. They stood for a moment before letting go, but staying close.
“I thought Harold Jenkins was the cause, but he was the fuse. Vanya is the bomb. Vanya causes the apocalypse.”
“We have to find her.” Luther muttered. The sound of a helicopter and police cars filled their ears as a bright light shined down on them. “We gotta go, now. Regroup at the Super Star. Go!” Five grabbed Y/N’s hand, jumping with her to the bowling ally.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The ally seemed so loud in Y/N ears as she sat next to Five in the small chairs. Their wasn’t many people, although their did happen to be some sort of party going on a few lanes down. Y/N tapped her bowling shoe clad foot on the floor beneath her.
“Look, I hate to be the one to say this, but everyone needs to prepare.” Luther started.
“For what?”
“To do whatever it takes to stop Vanya.” Allison hits him with her notepad. “I-We may not have a choice, Allison.”
“Bullshit. There's always options.”
“Yeah, like what?” Five shoots back, sitting back in his seat.
Diego shakes his head. “I don't know.”
“Look, whatever we decide, we need to find Vanya. And fast, okay? She could be anywhere.”
“Or here.” Klaus says, looking at a newspaper. “Look at this. That's right. Her concert is tonight.”
“Hello.” A lady’s voice came from behind the group. “I hate to intrude, but my manager says if you're not gonna bowl, you gotta leave.”
‘”Whose turn is it?” Diego plays along.
“Oh, for-” Luther picks up a ball, throwing it in a lane and knocking all the pins down. “We're the only ones capable of stopping this. We have a responsibility to Dad.”
“To Dad? No, I've heard enough about-”
“He sacrificed everything to bring us back together.”
“I'm with Luther on this one.” It was Y/N’s turn to hit Five with the back of her hand. “We can't give her a chance to fight back. There are billions of lives at stake. We're past trying to save just one.”
“Hey, you know, guys, uh maybe I could help.” Klaus suggested.
“Now is not the time.”
“No, let him finish.” Diego stood up for him. “He saved my life today.”
“Is that true?”
Klaus nodded and stood up. “Yeah, yeah, I did take credit for it. In fact, the real hero was Ben. Today Listen. Today, he punched me in the face. And earlier at the house, he was the one who saved Diego's life, not me.”
Luther shook his head. “You are unbelievable, Klaus.”
“You locked our sister away, pretty sure things are believable now.” Y/N muttered. Five beside her smirked and shook his head.
“You want proof, is that it? All right. I-I'll give you proof.” Klaus picked up a pink bowling ball. “All right, it's showtime, baby. Catch!” He threw the ball, Five grabbed Y/N to pull onto his lap as the ball waltzed past her head. it landed right in behind her chair.
“Is there any way to silence that voice in your head that screams out to be the center of attention?” Luther growled.
“You know, I liked you a lot better before you got laid.” Everyone’s eyes widened in shock or confusion. Y/N bit back a laugh, her cheeks red from being on Five’s lap. “Which was a complete It-It wasn't his fault, 'cause he was ridiculously high, right? And And the girl, she thought he was a furry-”
“Stop!” Luther watched Allison as she grabbed her notepad and walked away. “Allison, wait.” He followed after her.
“Excuse me!” A high pitched woman’s voice came along. “Excuse me, it's my son Kenny's birthday today, and Uh wouldn't your kids be happier playing with kids their own age? Assuming it's okay with your two dads.” She smiled.
“I would rather chew off my own foot.” Five gritted out. Y/N patted his back and sent a sarcastic smile to the woman, who grabbed her son in fear. Five looked over to the bowling rack, moving Y/N off his lap softly and walking over to it.
“If I was going to date a man, you'd be the last man I would date.” Diego said to Klaus.
“You'd be lucky to get me.”
“What siblings do you know sit on each others laps?” Y/N questioned, the two adults sending her confused looks. Y/N shrugged as she walked over to Five who was about to jump. “And where are you going?”
Five turned around, giving her a small smile. “I’ll be right back, okay? Don’t get into too much trouble” The words sounded familiar to her, and then it clicked. She had said something along those lines when Five was shot, which means he was probably awake, or she was just digging into to much. She had her answer when Five smirked at the blush dusting her cheeks.
She nodded. “Okay, don’t do anything stupid, Five.” He was about to jump again when she grabbed his arm, giving a small peck to his cheek, and turning to walk back to Diego and Klaus. Now it was Five’s turn to blush.
Y/N arrived back at the same time that Luther and Allison had. “All right, where's Five?”
“He left.”
Luther furrowed his eyebrows. “Oh, for the love of- where'd he go?”
“Didn't tell us.” Diego turned around to face Y/N. “Do you know where he went, lover girl?”
Her cheeks flushed at the nickname, her siblings giving her confused looks. “Um- he had some things to take care of. He’ll be back soon.”
“Well, we're not waiting around for him. The concert starts in 30 minutes.”
“All right, so what's the plan?”
Luther looked stunned for a moment. “Well, I think that, uh.. we go to the Icarus Theater.”
The siblings stared at him. “That's a location, not a plan. What? Is that all you got?” Diego took a step closer. “Look, you wanna be Number One, fine, but you're gonna have to get us on the same page, because right now, we're all over the place.”
“You're right. We need a plan.” Suddenly, gunshots were going off clear as day in the arena. Diego pulled Y/N’s arm so she was on the ground quick enough to not get shot. Y/N crawled on the floor to get behind a desk with Allison and Klaus. She sneaked a peak, the shooters had all black with red masks.
“Get down! Who the hell are these guys?”
“Maybe they're here for Kenny's birthday!” Klaus shouting over the blaring noise, covering his ears. The shooters shot directly where they were hiding behind.
“No, I'm pretty sure they're here for us!” Diego stood up, throwing one of his knifes to hit one of the shooters in the face. When they fell, they hit a switch that made the place go blacklight and music to start playing. Luther picked up a bowling ball , throwing it over the desk at one of the people. Y/N made two of them see a snake on the floor, slithering it’s way up to their partner with sharp teeth. The person got scared, and shot the other guy.
The siblings did what they did best and fought back. “They're blocking the exit!”
“So, what's the plan now, Luther?” Allison grabbed Y/N’s arm, pointing to the lanes ahead of them.
“The lanes! Let's go!” Without any more thought, they all got up and ran for the lanes. Y/N ran to the one that happened to be next to Diego’s and slid feet first through the pins. They were hard and hurt when they fell on her but the pain was only for a moment. When she landed on her feet, Diego rushed her out of the backdoor where the rest of the siblings slipped off too.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
They ran. They all ran to the Icarus Theater that Vanya was playing at. Allison stopped and showed her notepad. I NEED TO GO ALONE.
“Wha-Allison, I can't let you do that, all right? She's beyond reasoning.” Luther denied.
“You hear the music? It's started.” Diego yelled from behind Allison.
“Do you honestly think she's gonna listen? After everything that's happened?”
“We don't have time for this.”
“Okay.” Allison nodded, walking away. Y/N scanned over her brothers quickly before chasing after Allison, no one stopped her. The two girls ran up the stairs, opening the door to the crowded theater. Hand-in-hand, they walked down the red isle to stand closer to the stage. Vanya looked to pretty. She was playing her little heart out and Y/N couldn’t help but smile, she always loved Vanya’s playing, even if she was never allowed to come out and see it.
Vanya noticed them in the crowd and smiled, her eyes wildly white. She looked so happy. Luther and Diego than ran out, which Vanya didn’t like and swiped her bow, causing a white wave over the entire place. It made the two brothers fly off the stage. People started to scream and stand, trying to get out. The background players behind Vanya had the same thought, but she swiped her bow on them and made them keep playing.
Y/N sat on her hand and knees behind a seat diagonal from Allison, she heard Diego talking from the seat in front of her. “She's stronger than expected.”
“Yeah.” Luther agreed. Allison threw her bag, making contact with Luther’s face. “Yeah. We're fine, thanks for asking. Look, I almost lost you once, all right? I wasn't about to lose you again.”
“Well, so much for the element of surprise. What else you got?” Allison tapped the seat beside her in a hurry, using her arms to imitate playing a violin. “No shit, Allison. Tell us something we don't already know.”
Y/N scoffed. “She's talking about the violin, dipshit. It must be her lightning rod. If we can manage to take it from her and get her from playing, we might have a shot.” Speaking of shots, the shooters from before had ran in, shooting around the place. Y/N ducked.
“What the hell happened to Klaus? He's supposed to be on lookout.”
“Yeah, you surprised?” A blue light appeared in the isle, Five walked down it.
“What's with all the lollygagging?”
“Five, get down!” Y/N grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the spot she was hidden away in. Five smiled at her briefly as Luther started talking.
“Five, what the I thought you bailed on us!”
“I had an errand to run.” He peaked around the seats. “This is not good.”
“You know these guys?”
“Yeah, I do.”
“And?”
Five sighed. “Well we're screwed.” Diego threw his knifes, killing two of the shooters.
“Guys, it's Cha-Cha!” Klaus’s voice came. He jumped over the railing on a small set of stairs. “It's Cha-Cha, she-”
“Klaus! Get down! Get down!” Five jumped, landing on one of their backs and snapping their neck. Y/N looked over, Klaus had a blue glow coming from his hands and he was shaking. A blue shadow of a person came from his body, using it’s tentacles to wipe out the rest of the shooters. It was Ben.
“Oh, my fucking God.” Y/N muttered standing up slowly when the last shooter was killed. Klaus took a deep breath, chuckling.
“Now who's the lookout?” Y/N shared a smile with Klaus, but it soon feel as the building started to crumble, much like the house did.
“Oh, welcome back. Where were you?” Luther asked. Number Eight turned her head to see Diego walking towards them, a hard cover on his face.
“Honoring a memory. So, how do you wanna end this thing?”
The Hargreeve’s gathered in a circle. “We surround her. All right? We come at her from all angles.”
“So it's a suicide mission.”
“Yeah,” Luther nods. “but one of us could get through. It's the only chance we've got. Are we all in?” Everyone nods. Luther looks at Diego and Y/N. “Stage left. Stage right. You guys take the front.” And with that, they all take their leave. Y/N ran up stage left with Diego, giving him a brief hug as they reached the stage. Diego wrapped his arms around her neck, holding her close in the last minutes they may have. Y/N sniffed, she didn’t get the time to say goodbye to Five if they all died.
Vanya was glowing, white light shining from her that Y/N had to shield her eyes from. When Luther gave them the go, they all ran to Vanya, but she was quicker. Vanya swiped her bow, her power making the five siblings hover about the ground. Y/N felt an intense pain in her chest, like her lungs were closing on her. It was getting hard to breath. Y/N looked to her side, Diego looked like he was in so much pain. She grabbed his hand the best she could, which only managed her to grab his pinky with hers. Number Eight grunted, the pain becoming too much that she just wanted to go to sleep.
Her eyes widened when she saw Allison holding a gun behind Vanya’s head. She knew she would never shoot her. Allison hesitated before pulling the trigger, the bullet going past Vanya’s head, the sound causing her to drop her siblings. Vanya’s form cowered, a blue rod shooting from her chest and through the skylight. From there, she fell back into Allison’s arms. Y/N got up quickly, head throbbing as she did so and ran to the stage. Y/N stood as she and her siblings crowded around Vanya’s limp body.
“Is she alive?” Allison nodded her head. “Yeah. She is? Yeah?” Y/N let out a sigh.
“We did it. We saved the world.” Y/N smiled at Klaus’ words. She went to speak when a sudden weight almost knocked her off her feet. Raven hair filled her vision and the smell of coffee and blood filled her nose. Five had a tight grip on her waist as she slowly put her arms around his neck, holding him just as tight.
“Thank God you’re alright.” He sighed, pulling away enough to see her face. Y/N nodded, leaning her forehead on his. Five moved to place his lips on hers like he had wanted too the day before, but his family had other plans.
“Uh Guys?” The two kids smiled at each other shortly before completely letting go of each others bodies, but keeping close. Klaus stood up, looking up at the broken skylight.  “You see that big Moon rock coming towards us?”
“That's not good.” Diego and Luther joined him.
“So this is it, huh? So much for saving the world.”
“If only Sir Reginald could see us right now, huh? The Umbrella Academy. A total failure.” Diego watched as the rocks flew towards the Earth.
“At least we're together at the end. As a family.”
“This doesn't have to be the end.” Five pipped up from beside Y/N.
The three brothers turned around to face him. “What? What are you saying, Five?”
“I think I have a way outta here. But you gotta trust me on this.” The three denied. “Well, then, we might as well accept our fate, because in less than a minute, we're gonna be vaporized.”
“What's your idea, then?” Diego questioned.
“We use my ability to time travel. But this time, I'll take you with me.”
Y/N looked at Five with worry. “Can you even do that?”
He took her hand, giving it a squeeze. “I don't know. I've never tried it before.”
“What's the worst that can happen?”
“You're lookin' at it. A 58-year-old man inside a child's body, so there's that.”
Diego scoffed. “Oh, what the hell? I'm in.” The others agreed with him.
“Okay, great. Luther, grab Vanya.” Allison  lifted Vanya off her lap and into Luther’s arms as they moved to stand in a circle.
“Wait, should we be taking her? I mean, if she's the cause of the apocalypse. Isn't that like taking the bomb with us?”
“The apocalypse will always happen and Vanya will always be the cause, unless we take her with us and fix her.” Five looked at his siblings before he took Allison’s hand in his free one. Y/N took Diego’s and held him close. The family watched Five as he controlled his power, making a blue light appear above them like lightening. Y/N’s hair flew around her face as the wind picked up from the blue portal. She looked around, seeing her siblings younger-selfs. “Hold on! It's gonna get messy!” Y/N gripped Diego and Five’s hand tighter as the blue light swallowed them.

“Come on! Let's go!” Five urges, helping Luther open the door so he can get Allison out.
“I don't think she's breathing.” Y/N’s breathing hitches in her throat at the mention, watching Klaus and Luther carry Allison into the mansion.
“If we don't get her upstairs, she's gonna die.” They did manage to get her inside and to Grace. Allison was now lying on a table and Grace spoke.
“She's suffered a severe laceration to her larynx. One of you will need to give blood.” Everyone shouted that they would do it at the same time.
”I’m doing it.” Luther says.
“'m afraid that's not possible, dear boy. Your blood is more compatible with mine.” Pogo says to him.
“Hey, don't sweat it. I-I got this, big guy. I-I love needles!”
“Master Klaus. Your blood is How shall I say this? Too polluted.” Diego shoved Klaus and Luther out of the way. “Move. I'll do it.” Grace pulls out the needle, at the sight of it Diego whimpers and faints.
“Stick him.”
-
At the last second, Y/N had managed to get away from everyone and flee into the nearest bathroom. She shut the door and walked over to the tub, sitting on the edge has her still blood covered hands left marks on it from the way she gripped it. Number Eight took a deep breath, eyes closed.
“Y/N? Can I come in?” The knock at the door startled her. It was Five. She weakly called out a yes, and closed her eyes once again as he opened the door. A few moments later the door closed, and she thought he had left. At least she did until a warm cloth came in contact with the skin of her shoulder. She whimpered.
“I’m sorry.” Five whispered, rubbing the cloth along the cut. It wasn’t too big, not big enough to get stitches for but it was bleeding a lot. When he was done wiping the blood away, he grabbed a band-aid patch he stole from Grace and placed it over the cut, placing a kiss on top of it.
Y/N watched as Five placed the now red cloth on the side of the tub, collecting another one and picking up her hands, crouching down to be at level. He worked quietly as he scrubbed as soft as he could to get the blood off. Y/N stayed looking at his forest green eyes. He looked up, feeling her gaze.
“I’m-” Sorry. Is what she wanted to say, but something in the way he was looking at her caught her off guard. Five’s face wasn’t angry or sad, he was concerned. He raised his eyebrows as if saying ‘go on’. Y/N shook her head, finding it useless to keep saying sorry. It wasn’t going to help Allison.
“It wasn’t your fault, what happened tonight.” He could sense that’s what she was talking about by the longing look on her face. Five heard her sniffle when he looked back down to see her hands now less red, parts of it still a light shade of the crimson. He stood up, placing the cloth over the other one and lifting Y/N up by her hands.
He didn’t let go as he led her to her room, going into her closet and getting a new shirt out for her. Five turned around as she changed, and faced her once again when she cleared him to do so. He took a step closer to her, they were inches apart.
“Allison will be okay.” Five confirmed, voice low and calming.
“But what if she isn’t? What if she doesn’t get better?” There were many outcomes in this situation. If Diego’s blood transfer doesn’t work then theirs a slim chance that Allison has at survival. It was all on a chance.
Five sighed, not having a forward answer and instead moved closer to Y/N. He interlocked their hands, the swarm of butterflies in Y/N stomach flying up to her throat at the close contact. She leaned her forehead on Five’s, breathing in his scent. He was so close.
They moved in at the same time, about to close the distance when a knock came from Y/N’s open door. They jumped back from each other, blushes covering both of their faces. Diego stood awkwardly at the door, lowering his arm. “Uh, I’m calling a meeting. Just us and Klaus, down in the living room.” He paused. “Did I interrupt something?”
“Yes.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N sat on the scratchy couch with Klaus as Diego and Five stood. Her elbow rested on the arm of the couch, head in her hand. “The bastard that nearly killed our sister's still out there, with Vanya. We need to go after her.”
“Vanya is not important.”
“Hey,” Diego titled his head at Five. “that's your sister. A little heartless even for you, Five.”
“I'm not saying I don't care about her, but if the apocalypse happens today, she dies along with the other seven billion of us. Harold Jenkins is our first priority.”
“I agree.” Her voice was quiet, but loud enough for them to hear it. “I don’t remember much but at the cabin he took off with Vanya. He took her stuff with them too.”
Diego nodded. “Let's go.”
“You guys count me out.” Klaus whined. “I mean, you know, no offense or whatever. It's just I kind of feel like this is a whole lot of pressure for newly-sober me, so-”
“You're coming.”
“No, no, no. I mean, I think we can all agree that my power's I mean, it's pretty much useless. I'd just be holding you guys back.” He carried on.
“Klaus, get up.”
“You can't make me.” Diego threw his knife, the blade landing between Klaus’s legs. He sighs.
“Oh, then again, a little exercise couldn't hurt.”
And here Y/N was, standing over Harold’s dead body, all sharp things deep inside his chest.
“It's not exactly what I was expecting.”
“The understatement of the year.” Five sighed.
“No sign of Vanya.”
“Let's get out of here, before the cops come.” He and Klaus turned to leave.
“In a minute.” Five sighs and leans over the dead body, pulling out the eye from his pocket.
“Come on, Five, what are you-”
“Ugh, wow.” Klaus gags as Five puts the eye into the socket of the corpse.
“Same eye color, same pupil size. Guys this is it. The eye I've been carrying around for decades, it It's found its rightful home.”  Five looked somewhat happy deep in his eyes, but they still heled something else.
“We got the guy we needed to kill to stop the apocalypse."
“Yay! Let's go.” Klaus makes his leave, only for Diego to grab the back of his shirt.
“No, no. Wait, wait. It can't be this easy. Look, this is the note that I got from the Commission.” He unfolded it. “The one that says, "Protect Harold Jenkins," aka Leonard Peabody.”
“Yeah?”
“But who killed him? Who did this?”
“I have a crazy idea.” Klaus started. “Crazy, but why don't we find Vanya and ask her what happened?” That was the last thing Y/N heard as Five grabbed her hand and jumped them too the Academy.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“No sign of Vanya.” Five says, walking with Diego down the hallways to meet Klaus and Y/N.
“She's not in any of the rooms.”
“She's not downstairs, either.”
“Well, I'm out.” Diego takes his exit. Klaus calls out for him to wait. “Where are you going? Vanya's still out there, and so are Hazel and Cha-Cha.”
“I know.” Diego faced the group. “I'm gonna get my things and then I'm outta here. I got some unfinished business with those fools.” Diego ends the conversation, walking away.
Klaus sighs, leaning on the railing when Five starts talking. “Hey, did Dad say anything about the apocalypse when you spoke to him? Any clues as to how it happened?”
“No. No clues. Truly terrific shave. But no clues.” Five sighs, muttering something as he walks down the stairs. Klaus and Y/N follow. “You know, come to think of it, he did mention something about my potential, and how I've barely even scratched the surface of my-”
“How did he know about the apocalypse?”
“I don't know, but listen. This whole jumping through time thing of yours, how did How did you know how to do that?”
“I didn't.” Five snapped. “You'd realize that if you were actually sober.”
“Hey, I am sober. I've been sober for two-almost two days now.”
Five scoffed. “Yeah, two days.”
“Five, be nice.” Y/N warned. She really wasn’t in the mood to see more of her siblings fight.
“It feels like 45 years.” Klaus muttered.
“Who are you kidding, Klaus? I've seen you fidgeting all day.”
“Well, I guess we're both fighting our addictions, then.” Klaus stalks closer to Five, but gets stopped when Y/N puts her hand on his chest.
“I'm not an addict.”
“Yeah, you are.” Number Four bites back. “You're addicted to a drug called the apocalypse.” Five denies. “First sign. Denial.”
Five jumps in front of Klaus when he turns around, pointing a finger at his chest. “You and I, we're not the same.”
Klaus chuckles. “I've seen that look in the eye of someone who doesn't know who they are without their high anymore. Trust me. You gotta just let it go.” Five stops for a moment, then throws the glass eye at the wall, causing the glass the splatter everywhere. He pushes around Klaus, walking away with a limp. “Figuratively, but yeah, that works, too.”
Y/N sighs. “Can this day get any worse?”
-
“Well, do you think we really did it? Think we actually stopped the apocalypse? Now what? I don't know. I'm open to suggestions.” Five’s voice rang through the bar, along with Jazz music.
“Five? Who ya talkin’ too?” Five turned to see Y/N, a small smile on her face as she walked closer. Five offered her a green Margarita, which she accepted and took a big drink from. The two enjoyed the blissful moment before someone knocked on the door.
“Eh, I'll get it.” Five sighs, getting off his chair and walking too the door as Y/N took her own seat. A few moments later, Five came back with Hazel, one of the masked intruders. The one who shot Y/N. She feared for a second. “You're here to kill me?” Five took his seat again beside Y/N.
“Oh. Shit. Sorry. Old habits. Well, I can understand why you might feel that way, you know.”
“Well, you attacked our house, tried to kill my family, shot Y/N and kidnapped my brother.” Five said plainly, sipping on his drink.
“Well, there's not much I can do about the past. Don’t forget I'm not the only killer in this room. You got your own bloody history, pal. Speaking of which, that job you did in Calhoun, that shit's legendary. Can't believe I'm actually sittin' here talkin' to you, after all.” He rambled on.
“Hey, why are you here?” Y/N spoke up, making the man jumped for some reason.
“Well, I'm, you know-” His words were cut off has Diego shoved him to the ground.
“Diego, stop!” He didn’t and continued to fight him as the two kids watched.
“You know, before you kill him, you might wanna hear what he has to say. Or don't. See how that goes.” Y/N giggled, making Five smile. The two watched as Diego stabbed Hazel’s leg. “That's gotta hurt.” Diego gets lifted in the air, using it to his leverage to bite the mans ear. Five sets his drink down and jumps to grab a vase from on the stand beside him, smashing it over Diego’s head. “I draw the line at biting.” Five stumbles back over to Y/N. “Hazel, whatever you came here to say, I suggest you make it quick, before he comes round.”
"I left my partner, quit the Commission, came to volunteer.”
“Now what for?”
“To help stop the apocalypse.” The kids look at each other before chuckling into their straws. “What on earth could be so funny to you right now?”
“Before I answer that, why do you wanna help us?”
“Let's just say I have a vested interest in a doughnut shop.” He smiles.
“Well, I hate to break it to you, pal, but you're a day late and a dollar short. The fact that you're here right now means, without a shadow of a doubt, that the apocalypse is over.” Five sends him a tight lipped smile.
“Really? How do you know?”
“Easy. Mark is dead. Found him this morning. You were the last known unknown left in the equation.” Y/N shrugs, sipping more on her drink.
Hazel chuckles. “Shit. Really?” Five hums.
“And if you're out, then Hellrider ain't riding.” Hazel takes the open seat on Five’s other side, taking the leftover drink in the blender and giving it a taste.
He sighs. “So now what?”
“You know, to be honest, I don't know. I've been chasing this thing for so long, I-I never really thought about the day after.” Five chuckles. “I don't know. What about you?”
“I'm done with all this madness. Time to start over. You two should do the same.”
“That's easier said than done.”
“It doesn't have to be hard. I mean, think about it like this. If you never time traveled, you never got caught up with the Handler, what would have happened? What would’ve happened to you?” Hazel looked to Y/N.
She sighed, resting her head on her hand. “I don’t know. If Dad didn’t keep me here I would’ve grown up and lived a real life as a woman. maybe find someone and get married.” She shrugged, looking at Five for his share.
“I guess I would have grown up to be an emotionally stunted man-child like everybody else around here.”
Hazel chuckles softly. “Well, there you go. Now you both can grow up. Good luck.” He stands from his seat about to leave when something pops in Y/N’s head.
“Hey, Hazel. One more thing before you go.” She spun around in her chair.
“Shoot.”
“Which one of you was the trigger man for Detective Patch?”
“Trigger woman.” He corrected. Y/N sighs, looking at Diego.
“Huh. It’s too bad. That gun could have cleared my brother's name.” She swallowed the lump in her throat.
“Well, today's your lucky day, amigo.” Hazel pulled out two guns from his pockets, passing them to her. “Take 'em both. I’m done with this life.” Y/N sends him a smile, watching as he exits the room.
-
It was only mere moments after Hazel that Diego groaned and started to sit up. “Shit.”
Five sighs. “Good, you're up. Ready for a drink now?”
Diego gets up quick when he realizes Hazel isn’t in the room. “Where is he?”
“I let him go.”
“You what?” He came closer.
“Now that the apocalypse is over, it's time for the fighting to stop.”
“Diego.” Y/N called. “Hey, he didn't kill Patch. His partner Cha-Cha did.”
“So what? They were both there that night.” He shot back. Y/N sighed.
“And this half of the partnership gave me both of their guns. Which will clear you, because the ballistics will match Patch's crime scene. Hazel just came here looking for a way out. He wanted a fresh start. And he happened to have in his possession the one thing that could do our family a little good. So now it's time to move on.”
“Not a chance.”
Y/N shrugged. She was done fighting with her family. “Suit yourself.”
From beside her Five sighed. He stood up and grabbed his doll. “I am curious. Your girlfriend, Patch. What did you like about her?”
“A lot of things. Cute butt. Nice legs.”
“Anything a little more profound than that?” Five quickly glanced over to Y/N, who was just getting off her chair. Diego noticed, also looking at Y/N before speaking.
“She believed in people. No matter how much shit and filth she saw on the streets. She always saw the good inside.”
Five nodded. “Well, I'm sure she'll be proud to know that you're killing Hazel and Cha-Cha as a way to honor her memory.” He sighed and walked away.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N had time to herself, well more like five minutes when Klaus came running into her room, speaking quickly and ended up dragging her to the basement.
“Klaus what is going on!” he pulled her to face a stone door with a window in it, a crying Vanya on the inside, screaming for help. Her voice was toned out by the stone, no one could hear here.
“Vanya.” The girl muttered, stepping closer before Luther stopped her. She glared at him.
“You locked up our sister because you think she has powers.” Diego stated, confused.
“No, I know she does. Pogo told me. He's always known, and so did Dad. Y/N even knows.” Luther stated back.
“Why would they hide this from us? I mean, am I the only one that didn't know this place existed?”
“He hid so much from us”
“He hid it because he was afraid.. of her.” He nodded to Vanya.
Y/N scoffed. “Luther, that's ridiculous. You really think-”
“Is it? Dad's lied about everything else, why is this so far-fetched?”
“If you're right, then maybe she's the one who killed Peabody.”
“And cut Allison's throat.”
“Let's ju-Sorry, just, let's go back, all right? This is Vanya we're talking about. Our sister. The one who always cried when we stepped on ants as kids.” Klaus stammered out.
“Yeah, I know. I know it's difficult to accept-”
“It's not difficult to accept, it's impossible to accept!”
“No, he's right.” Diego agreed with Klaus. “Look, we can't keep her locked up without proof.”
Luther furrowed his eyebrows. “Wh-What more proof do you need?”
“Why don't we just open the door and ask her?” Klaus moved to open the door, but Luther shoved his hand out of the way.
“No, she's not goin' anywhere.”
“No, even if you're right, she needs our help, and we can't do that if she's locked in a cage.”
“Listen, I don’t know what is going through your monkey brain, but that’s our sister in there. For all we know, she might be struggling with this new power. Diego’s right, she needs our help.” Her voice was stern. It sent chills up Luther’s body but he scoffed anyway.
“Of course you’d agree with Diego. Look, if what Pogo told me is even half true, then she is not just a danger to us.” Luther turns around when he hears footsteps behind him, he sighs at who it is. “Allison, what are you doing down here? You should be in bed.”
The sight of her makes Y/N almost want to cry. Allison opens the sharpie lid and writes down something on her notepad. LET HER GO.
“I can't do that. She hurt you.”
MY FAULT.
“I'm sorry, but she's staying put.” Allison makes a face, storming towards her sister. Luther catches her arm. “Just until we know what we're dealing with.” Allison hits Luther’s chest, trying her hardest to get to Vanya. “She stays put.” Luther leads Allison out of the room as Vanya’s figure cries more and more. Y/N steps up to the glass when they walk away, Vanya’s fists beating against the glass is so sickening it hurts.
Y/N has her own tears in her eyes at the sight of her sister so trapped. She can see Vanya repeating ‘I’m sorry’ over and over. Y/N nods, putting her palm on the glass across from Vanya’s, so close yet so far away. She lowers her hand to unlock the door, she’s almost there when-
“Y/N.” She jumps, turning around. “Let’s go. Now.” Her head tilts to Vanya and she shakes her head.
“I’ll be back Vanya, I promise. You’re not alone, not anymore.” Vanya can barley make out what Y/N is saying before she gets dragged away by Luther, leaving her with her own screams.
-
Y/N sat in her room, curled up on her bed. Oh how she wished she didn’t feel so useless in her life at this moment. She was about to fall asleep, wanting nothing more than to escape reality even for just a few minutes. Eight was startled with a jolt as the house rumbled and creaked, a large booming sound coming from downstairs. Vanya was out. And she was mad.

╰┈ BEWARE OF .. violence, swearing, bad writing, blood (lots of it)
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N finds herself waking up from a nap, seeing it light out and no longer raining. The car was stuck in the middle of a traffic jam outside a restaurant. Y/N looks over to see Allison, who spots something while in the car and gets out to take a closer look. She puts sunglasses on, Y/N quickly gets out of the car and walks with her sister up to the restaurant. They find Vanya’s scarf hanging from a signpost.
“Vanya.” They shared a look and then nodded, walking away from the sign and crossing the bright yellow police tape blocking off a crime scene.
“Hey. Pardon me, ma’am. Hey, I gotta ask you to stay behind the lines, there. We had an accident here last night.” A cop called out. Allison doesn’t make to move, stunned.
“A-- What kind of accident?”
The cop approaches them and starts to sweep them back behind the police tape. “Ma'am. The line, please.” Allison reaches for Y/N’s arm and hurriedly gets back behind the line.
“Okay. Yes. Sorry.”
“Got a lot of stuff on the ground, okay? To be wary of.”
“What happened?” Y/N asked, eyeing the scene.
“We're trying to figure that out. As soon as we do, you'll be able to read it in the newspaper along with everybody else. So, have a nice day.” He dismissed. He turns around and begins to walk away, and Allison removes her sunglasses.
“Look, officer, if there is any way--” The cop turns around and his face lights up in recognition.
“Holy shit!” His tone startles both girls. “You're Allison Hargreeves right? I saw you on TV two nights ago in that Sandra Bullock movie about the underpaid teachers that rob a bank.”
“Yeah. That's me.” She chuckles awkwardly.
“Oh! Wow. Hey. If I'm being honest -- my wife and I, we prefer you in the romantic comedies. The ‘Love on Loan’ trilogy. Ouf! We can't get enough.” He laughs quietly. Y/N looks between the two, an unamused face on.
The cop’s radio beeps and a voice comes through. “Copy, Cheddar?” The cop, Cheddar, grabs his radio, straightening his posture a little. He miles pleasantly at Allison. “Yeah, what do you got, Fred?”
“Hospital called. Perp from last night just regained consciousness.” Y/N’s eyes light up.
“Copy. I'll be right over.” Cheddar sighs and laughs lightly in disbelief. He shakes his head at Allison. “Allison freakin' Hargreeves. Wow. Ah, my wife's not gonna believe it.” The two stare at each other for a moment, awkwardly. Y/N felt so out of place, she wanted to run away. “Anyway, I-- I gotta go. Um - Work stuff.”
“Yeah, of course. Sorry.” Cheddar crosses the police line onto the girls’ side and starts to walk towards his police cruiser. Y/N could see the wheels in Allison’s mind spinning.
“Actually, that's why I'm here! I'm... I'm researching a role. A law enforcement role.” Cheddar looks at her skeptical.
“In Jackpine Cove? We haven't had a murder here in years.”
“Oh, uh it's about, um a small-town cop who takes down a drug cartel.” Cheddar tips his head. It looks like he likes the sound of that. Y/N senses an opening.
“In fact, maybe we could tag along while you conduct some official police business? I promise we won't get in the way. I just, I think you could really, um help me develop my character, if I could live a day in the life, you know.”
“We?” The cop questions. Allison points to Y/N.
“This is my sister, she’s helping me remember my lines.” Y/N smiles sweetly, nodding with her sisters words. The cop shrugs.
“Day in the life, huh? Eh Come on. Follow me.” Cheddar beckons and the girls share a small victory smirk before following, Allison puts her sunglasses back on. Game time.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“Mr. Luntz? Mr. Luntz, can you hear me?” Mr. Luntz groans.
“Who, um Who are you?”
“I'm Sergeant Cheddar, and this is--” He looks to Allison and Y/N who stand there with him, hands in their pockets. “These are my associates. Just have a couple of questions for you.”
“Am I in trouble?”
Cheddar shakes his head. “No trouble, nothin' like that. I just I wanted to ask you about the accident in the Bearskin Tavern parking lot last night.”
“You're a cop. You gotta protect me no matter what, right?” Weird.
“It's my sworn duty.” Luntz hesitates and sighs.
“It was no accident.”
“What do you mean?”
“This guy hired us to start a fight.” Realization crosses Allison’s face. Y/N watches as she uncrosses her arms and begins to approach the hospital bed, slowly. Listening to the man. “He wanted us to rough him up in front of his girlfriend. He paid real good, up front. We got drunk. Took it a little too far. Started to hassle the girl, too.” Y/N’s face hardens. She knows exactly who the woman was.
“And then, all hell broke loose.”
“The guy who paid you, what did he look like? Brown hair, light scruff, slight build?” Allison questioned.
“Yeah. Yeah, that's him.”
Cheddar looks between them, brow furrowing. He starts waving his hand a little, suddenly understanding there’s more to this than he thought. “Well, that's a-- a really good guess--”
Y/N presses on, reaching in Allison’s pocket to hold up a picture of Vanya. “Is this the girlfriend?”
“Hey, uh Just, um Just a moment.” Cheddar moves around the bed and starts to shoo them away. He pulls the curtain closed between them and Luntz. The cop lowers his voice and gives Y/N a stern look. “Hey, by any chance, is your sister’s movie called Small Town Cop Falls for Hollywood Superstar's Bullshit?”
“We’re sorry for misleading you.” Y/N says, not really sorry.
“I believe the word would be "lying”.”
Y/N sighs. “Then we’re sorry we lied. But we didn't know how else to get answers. She holds up the picture of Vanya. “This is our sister. And we think the guy that put him in this hospital has her. We have to find her.” She said with pleading eyes.
“I could get fired for just bringing you down here with me.” The cop looked between the two.
“Please.” Allison begged. “I think she's in trouble. We need your help.” Cheddar sighs and pulls the curtain, addressing Luntz. “Answer the lady's question. Is this the girlfriend?” A nurse arrives and gives the three a look.
“Sorry, but the doctor's ordered more tests. You're gonna have to ask him questions later.” Allison storms out of the hospital room in a huff and the cop follows. Y/N lingered behind for a moment, looking at the guy.
“Miss?” She nodded, following the other two out of the room.
-
“Hey, Dale?” The nurse calls to the cop.
“Yup?”
“Have you seen Mr. Luntz?”
“No, why?”
“I took him to X-ray, and then he disappeared.” Y/N gave the nurse a confused look.
“You better let security know. I'll call it in.” The nurse mumbles a ‘yeah’ and starts to walk away before Allison stops her.
“Oh, wait, one more thing.” She opens the photo Y/N gave to her. “Do you recognize this woman?”
“Mhm. She left with Mr. Peabody this morning.” The nurse nodded.
“Wait, this morning? They must've been here when we stopped by the cabin.”
“Maybe they went back there.” Y/N said, starting to walk away. “Let’s go get our sister.”
“Whoa, hold on.” The cop stopped them from moving. “We got a missing vic, and this guy might be dangerous. I need you to stay here.” The cop walked away.
Y/N scoffed. “Yeah right.” She smirked at Allison as they walked out of the hospital.  :・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The two walked up the stairs of the cabin, hearing a violin being played softly from the inside and the wind blew harder. “Vanya? Is that you?” Allison called, opening the door. “Vanya, there you are. What is going on?”
Vanya turned and lowered the violin. “What are you guys doing here?”
“We came to find you. Are you okay?”
“Yeah.”
“There's something weird going on. What's causing it?” Allison asks.
“Me.” Vanya answers plainly.
“What do you mean, "me"?” Number Two asks confused.
“I mean I made those things happen. With my powers. Turns out I've had them all this time. It's weird, huh?” Allison gasps.
“It's in-It's incredible.”
“But?”
“Hey, Vans? Can we do this in the car?” Y/N asked eyes roaming over the inside of the cabin. Her heels bouncing off the floor.
“Why?”
Y/N sighs. “You're not gonna want to hear it.”
“Well, that's never stopped you before.”
“Excuse me?” Vanya was never mean to Y/N. She was so, so sweet to everyone.
Allison sighs, taking over. She knew if Vanya said anything else to Y/N it would set her off. “Leonard Peabody? His real name is Harold Jenkins.” She paused, stepping closer to Vanya. Remember when I couldn't find anything in the library on Leonard? It's because Leonard Peabody doesn't exist. Harold Jenkins does. He was in prison for 12 years. He murdered his father when he was 13.”
“This is insane. His dad was an engineer-”
“I have the police report in the car, Vanya. I can show you.” Allison pressed on.
Vanya shakes her head. “I don't-I don't understand.”
“Leonard, Harold, I-I know it doesn't make any sense, and I know it sounds crazy, but we were in his house. He has pictures of all of us with our eyes gouged out.”
“Wh-What?”
“Vanya, I-I promise we will tell you everything in the car, but it is not safe.” Y/N reaches for Vanya’s hand before she pulls it back.
“No, stop.” Vanya sits on the couch. Y/N crouches beside her and sighs, she was getting worked up.
“Look, I can't imagine how hard it is for you to hear this or how you feel right now, but I love you, we love you, and we just wanna be here for you, as your sisters.” Y/N places her hands on Vanya’s knees.
“There's just no way. I love him. This just doesn't make any sense. And this power I-I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I don't know what to do.” Vanya sniffles.
Allison looks down to the ground, ashamed. “I understand now. When we were four, Dad told us you were sick. You had to be isolated. We were so young. None of us knew to question it. But then he asked me to do something I never understood until now. ‘I heard a rumor, you think you're just ordinary.’ He made me an accomplice.”
Y/N’s eyes were wide at her words. Vanya blinked. “You did this to me?”
“I-I-I didn't realize.”
“You knew this whole time? That I had powers? Vanya stood up in a fit of anger, making Y/N stumble back from the force.
“No, no! I didn't really understand until I came today, until I saw it.” Allison explained, standing up to face Vanya.
“Well, now it all makes sense. This is why you never wanted me around.”
“What? No!” Number Three yelled back.
“You couldn't risk me threatening your place in the house, your-your dominance.” Vanya was now crying, her voice wavering as she got mad.
“That is not true!”
“You couldn't handle the fact that Dad might find me special.”
“You are special, Vanya, with or without powers.” Y/N slowly crept forward, her voice soft. She felt like if she spoke any louder, Vanya or herself would break.
“Don't-Don't say that!” Vanya’s yelling made Y/N jump in her spot and stop walking.
“We have a chance to start over.”
“You destroyed my life!” She was yelling now, failing her arms around to show how angry she was.
“Oh, please, Vanya. Everything is out in the open. We can move on!” Allison pleaded.
“Oh, I'm moving on. But not with you, with Leonard.”
“With Harold, you mean.”
“With Leonard! The only person who has ever loved me for me.”
Allison laughs quietly to herself. “Look me in the eye and tell me you're not threatened now.” The chimes inside the cabin rung together and the wind picked up.
“Guys, please. Let’s not argue.” Y/N took a shallow breath, trying not to work up Vanya or Allison anymore. She stood in between the two.
“Then go!” Vanya yelled.
“We’re only trying to help you.”
“I don't want your help!”
“Vanya, we love you!”
“Stop saying that!” With her yell, every object in the cabin started to sway and the wind picked up from inside, even with all the doors and windows shut.
“Are you-Are you okay?”
“I said go!” Vanya was screaming at the top of her lungs, her scream making the glass on the chandelier pop. Y/N ducks, being underneath of it and Allison yelps.
“Please don't make me do this.” Allison gasps.
“Allison, no!”
“I heard a rumor-” It happened so fast. Vanya’s hand that held her violin bow stuck out, slicing across Allison’s throat and the side of Y/N’s arm. It felt like time slowed down and Y/N watched her sister choke on her blood as the open gash on her neck dripped with crimson. A terrified scream left her lips.
“Allison!” Both Y/N and Vanya ran over to her as she gripped her neck for dear life, eyes wide with fear. Vanya wails.
“No! No! Allison!” Allison drops to the ground, gasping for air. Neither girl knew what to do in that moment, both clutching onto their sister and screaming,
“Vanya, wait-” A new voice came. It was Harold.
“I didn't mean to!” Vanya screams to Y/N. “I didn't I didn't mean to. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I-”  Y/N couldn’t hear anything else other than Allison’s grasps on choked air as one of her hands bunched Y/N’s blouse. She had part of Y/N’s skin but she didn’t care, using her own hand to hold it over the wound to stop the bleeding, but it did nothing. Allison was loosing too much blood, and she couldn’t do anything but watch.
It was only a few seconds later when Y/N noticed it got quiet. She looked around, Vanya was no where in sight. Number Eight looked down and started to panic when Allison’s grip loosened on her blouse.
“No, no, no, no, Allison! Alli, stay with me, come on!” She cried. Her shirt, hands, and shoulder were covered in blood, both hers and her sisters. Her face red and puffy from the salty tears dripping down. Y/N took off her blouse, wrapping it around the woman’s neck in hopes of adding pressure to slow the bleeding more. Allison already looked dead.
The door slammed open, Y/N didn’t even turn around. Luther’s voice rang through her ears as he came to cradle Allison’s limp body in his arms. Y/N stood and backed away, hands shaking as she stared, breaths uneven.
“Y/N, hey. Y/N.” She was scared to move her eyes from Allison, scared if she did she would be gone. Diego titled her chin towards his head, making her look at him. He looked down at her hands that were flat in front of her, still shaking, drops of blood falling off them and onto the pale carpet.
Five walked in, staring at Allison’s body before he heard a muffled cry. His head snapped to his left, seeing Diego holding Y/N by her cheeks, fresh tears spilling from her eyes. He all but ran over, his heart dropping at the sight of her.
“I’m sorry!” She sniffled, eyes looking between Five, Diego and Allison. “I’m sorry, i-it happened so quick I-” Both males eyes trailed to her shoulder when she winced, seeing the gash on it. “Fuck!” Five carefully pulled her into his embrace, letting her head rest on his chest as Luther carried Allison out to the car as careful but quick as he could.
Five kissed the top of Y/N’s head, leading her out of the blood smelled cabin and into the car he came in. His heart hammered in his chest at her sniffles and deep breaths to calm down. His urge to protect the girl rose at that moment, and he always stuck to a mission.

જ⁀➴ The Day That Was.
Tumblr media
╰┈ BEWARE OF .. violence, swearing, bad writing, mention of murder
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
On the seventh hour of the first day of October, 1989, a woman went into labor. This was unusual in no way whatsoever. The culmination of a normal, average pregnancy. The child was average in every way. Unfortunately for the world, the circumstances of his raising.
Sir Hargreeves stepped out of the Limo, along with seven children, all wearing domino masks to protect them from the real world. The kids all walked up the sidewalk to their home when Number Three’s arm was caught by another person.
“Excuse me. I'm your biggest fan.” His little voice called out. He was dressed much like the kids. Number Three got her arm out of his grip and stalked forward as Number One grabbed the arm of the kid.
“Hey, hey. You're not supposed to be in here.”
“Get back behind the barricade!” Sir Hargreeves shouted over the noise of the crowd. Number One walked with Number Three to the front of the house.
“It's just I was born on the same day as the Academy kids. I think I'm like them. I must be. I haven't quite figured out what my power is yet. But maybe with your help, we can find out.” His voice was cheerful and full of curiosity.
“You have no power. You never will have power.” Sir Hargreeves shot down. “Now, go home.”
“No, please. Just I You have to let me stay. I came all this way. Please don't make me go back.”
“A little word of advice, my boy. Not everyone in this world can be powerful. Chasing something unattainable is a recipe for a lifetime of disappointment and resentment. So get off my property.” He grabbed the boy by the back of his collar, shoving him off the yard. The crowd laughed as the boy stood shocked.
“Hey, don’t listen to what he said. Everyone has magic in them, you just gotta find your spark.” The little boy turned to be face to face with Number Eight. Before he could reply, Hargreeves was calling to her and she rushed away, not wanting to get into trouble. The gate closed on the boy and his eyes filled with hatred.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“I don't know.” Five threw his coffee cup. “Yet. But I do know that he's responsible for the apocalypse. So we have to find him. And we have to do it now.”
“H-How is he connected to what's gonna happen?”
“I don't know.”
“Wait, so you just know his name? That's it?” Diego stepped forward.
Five shrugged. “That's enough.”
“There's probably dozens of Harold Jenkinses in the city. The man shot back.
“Well, we just better start looking, then.”
“I’m sorry, and I the only one who is skeptical here? I mean, how exactly do you know all of this about what's his name?” Allison interrogated.
“Harold Jenkins.” Y/N said, coming to stand next to Five.
“You know those lunatics in masks who attacked the house?”
“Oh, yeah, I think I remember those guys.” Klaus says sarcastically.
“Yeah, the ones that attacked us while you were getting drunk.”
“Yeah. Them.” Five nodded. They were sent by the Temps Commission to stop me, and now Y/N,  from coming back, and preventing the end of life on Earth.”
“The Temps what?”
“My former employer. They monitor all of time and space to make sure that whatever is supposed to happen happens. They believe the apocalypse is coming in three days. So we went to Commission headquarters and intercepted a message that was meant for said lunatics. "Protect Harold Jenkins." So he must be responsible for the apocalypse.” It was silent for a moment before everyone started speaking at the same time.
“Do you have any idea how insane this sounds?” Allison furrowed her eyebrows.
“You know what else is insane?” Five was getting frustrated. “Y/N and I look like a 13-year-olds, Klaus talks to the dead, and Luther thinks he's fooling everybody with that overcoat. Everything about us is insane. It always has been.”
“He's got a point there.”
“We didn't choose this life, we're just living it. For the next three days, anyway."
“But the last time we tried to stop it, we all died. Why is this time any different? Why shouldn't I go home to my daughter?” Number Three kept her questions coming.
“Because this time, I'm here. We have the name of the man responsible. Guys, we actually have the chance of saving the lives of billions of people. Including Claire.”
Allison stepped forward. “You know her name?”
“I do, and I'd like to live long enough to meet her.”
“All right.” Allison nodded. “Let's get this bastard.”
“You had me at Gerald Jenkins.”
“It’s Harold Jenkins, come on people.” Y/N shook her head.
“Whatever. I've already lost two people this week, I'm not losing anyone else.” With that, Diego started to walk away.
“And Luther?”
“Yeah, you go. I'm gonna stay and go through Dad's files. I still think this has something to do with why he sent me to the Moon.”
“Seriously?” Diego turned around. “Now you wanna make the end of the world about you and Dad?”
“No. "Watch for threats." That's what he told me. You think that's a coincidence? This all has to be connected somehow.”
“No, we should all stick together.” Allison quietly tells him. Something between the two seemed different.
“We don't have time for this.” Five shouted.
“Let's roll. I know where we can find this asshole. Klaus, you're with me.”
“Yeah. I-I'm good. I think I'll, uh I think I'll pass, I'm feeling a little under the weather, so, uh.” Klaus groans as he walks out of the living room. Diego, Five and Y/N on his tail.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“I know this Jenkins dude has to have a record. We gotta get our hands on this file.” Diego said as he turned off the car.
“And your plan is to what? Waltz in there and just ask for it?” Allison asked from beside Y/N in the backseat.
“I know the station like the back of my hand, sis.” He puts his black gloves on. “I've spent a lot of time inside.”
Y/N scoffs. “Yeah. Handcuffed.”
“Whatever. Here's the plan-”
“Plan? I'm just gonna blink in and get the file.”
“No, that's not.. You don't know the ins and outs of this place, okay?” Diego says back.
“I literally just did this yesterday.”
“What?” Diego asks confused, causing Y/N to chuckle.
“My yesterday, not your yesterday. It'll take me two seconds. Why don't I just go?”
“Listen to me.” Y/N watched as Allison shook her head. “You are not going in there. I made a call. That's what a leader does. He leads.” Diego stepped out of the car and left around a corner to do his leading job. With the trio left behind it was quiet. Allison stood at the phone while Five leaned onto the building behind him. Y/N paced with her arms crossed waiting for her brother.
“Hey, Vanya, it's me.” Allison spoke into the phone. “I just wanted to.. things have gotten so messed up. And all I ever wanted was to be a good sister to you. Guess I pretty much failed at that. But you need to call me. Okay? I love you, sis.” The receiver clicks as Allison puts the phone down, just in time for Diego to arrive.
“So?” He tries to snag the blue folder from Diego but he moves it out of his reach.
“You're welcome.” Allison grabs it , opening it up.
“Holy shit.”
“What?”
“Harold Jenkins is Leonard Peabody.” She holds up the folder, showing his picture.
-
“Be careful, okay?” They exit the car once again, but this time outaide of Harold’s home. “We don't know what Peabody's capable of.”
“Yeah, he didn't seem dangerous when I first saw him. Looked kinda scrawny.”
“Yeah, well, so are most serial killers and mass murderers.” Aliison pointed to Five. “I mean, look at him”
.”Thanks.”
“Good point. So what's this guy want with Vanya?” Allison walks off around the house, leaving Diego with Y/N and Five.
“I don't know. How about we ask him after we kill him?”
“Whoa, whoa. Hey, look, I'm gonna burst through-” Number Two turns around to see Allison gone. “You know what? It would be nice for people just to stick to The plan-” He’s cut off when Five jumps away, probably into the house. “Great. You gonna leave too?”
Y/N shook her head. “Got nowhere to go.” She watches as Diego takes a step back before jumping through the window on the door, landing on his stomach.
“Subtle.”
Five opens the door. ‘You know, the door was unlocked.” Y/N takes the chance to walk in.
“Yeah, well, my way works just fine. Spread out. Yell if you, uh you know, you're in trouble.” Diego stands up, dazed as he walks away.
Five sighs. “Ah, inspiring leadership.”
“One of the greats.”
“Our brother is an idiot.”
Y/N walks away to investigate. She makes her way into the kitchen with Diego, which didn’t seen all that clean but who was she to judge. There was cabinets left open and some pans missing. She was about to look at the poster Diego called her for when Allison yells out.
“Guys, you need to see this.” Diego and Y/N share a look before running the to stairs. Allison’s voice was coming from the attic. They each made their way up the attic latter to see multiple Umbrella Academy posters and their figurine dolls with scratched out eyes and burnt faces.
“All our faces are burnt off. Except Y/N’s” What? Y/N looked to see her figurine standing tall and proud with her poster behind it. The face wasn’t hurt and the eyes weren’t gouged out.
“Well, that's not creepy. This guy's got some serious issues.” Diego examined the room more, putting his arm over Y/N’s shoulder for his own comfort.
Allison gasps. “This was never about Vanya. This was about us.” From beside Y/N, she heard Five’s uneven breathing.
“Five?” Are you-” She was cut off when Five sighs and falls to the floor, clutching his stomach. The two adults and kid shuffled down to sit beside Five. Y/N carefully lifted his shirt where his hand was, a gunshot wound leaking fresh blood. “What the hell, Five! Why didn’t you say anything!” Y/N put her hands over his wound, causing him to flinch.
“You have to keep going. So close.” His eyes closed, he almost looked dead. Y/N slapped his cheek gently.
“Five. Five! Wake up old man!” She pressed harder onto the shot, drying to get it to draw less blood. Y/N was mumbling words neither adult could hear. They looked at each other, never seen her this way, and quickly helped get Five ti the car.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Allison sighs, her feet shuffling against the floor and she lifted Five by his armpits. “Damn it We should have taken him to the hospital.”
“A kid with a shrapnel wound might raise some questions.” Five muttered. Diego shook his head, his arms carrying Five’s feet.
“And so does the murder shrine in Harold Jenkins' attic. Come on guys, he’s losing blood. What do we do?” They laid him on the couch and Allison took off her jacket, removing Y/N’s hands and pressing it on the wound.
“We gotta get the shrapnel out.” Diego’s head was high when he started to walk away.
“Diego, where are you going?” Allison called out. Y/N shook her head, blinking back stressed tears.
It was only when Five was stable and Grace helped him get better was when Y/N left his side to wash her hands. She looked at her reflection, she look tired, defeated. When she was done, she walked out and stood by Diego outside of Five’s door.
“Anything?” Diego asked Allison when she walked over to them.
“There's no answer at Vanya's place. And the receptionist at her music school said she was a no-show for her lessons today.” Diego nodded, turning around.
“Hey, you okay?”
“Yeah.” He paused. “I don't know, it's just surreal seeing her. I just wanna tell her that I'm s.. We don't have enough time. We gotta go.”
“I don't know, Diego.” Allison looked to Five. “Five is laying there, unconscious. We need him.”
“We can do this ourselves.”
“We did that already, remember? We all ended up dead. I don't know. I'm just I'm thinking I should go and see Claire before-”
“You can't run away from this, Allison. That's what started this whole mess in the first place.” Diego sighed. “Luther was right.”
Y/N scoffs. “That’s something no one would ever expect you to say.”
“Yeah, well we gotta stick together.”
“Where do we start?”
“There's no other addresses in the file, but there is another relation listed. Jenkins' grandmother. She lived near Jackpine Road.” Diego made his way over to the stairs.
“Hey guys,” The two turned to face Y/N. “could I just.. have a moment before we go?” She pointed into Five’s room.
“You don’t have to go, Y/N.” Allison says sweetly. Y/N shook her head.
“No, I-I want too, I just want to say goodbye first.” They nodded, telling her to be quick. Y/N quickly made her way into the room, sighing before leaning down and pressing a kiss to Five’s forehead. “I’ll see you soon, okay? Don’t get into too much trouble.” She sniffled, exiting the room before she could change her mind and met up with Allison and Diego.
The trio walked out of the mansion, walking to the car before Diego pulled them the other way. “Nope. Come on, this way.”
“Wait, but the car is back that way.”
“Trust me, okay? Come on.”
“But what is going on?”
“They're here for me.” Y/N looked back to see cop cars at the end of the street. “Uh.. They think I did something.”
“Dee. What do they think you did?” Their sirens whoop as Diego answers.
“Murder.”
“Did you?” Allison asks, placing her hand on his arm.
“No, no, no, of course not, okay? Why would you ask that about me, anyway?”
Allison shrugged, walking quicker. ““I mean, you do carry knives with you everywhere.”
“Yeah, okay, we're gonna have to split, okay?” More sirens wail. “I'm in charge. Remember? Vanya needs you both.”
“Diego, no!”
“Y/N listen to me.” He crouched down so he was her height, hands on her shoulders. “I’ll catch up with you as soon as I can. Go with Allison, go help Vanya.” He pulled her in for a small hug before sending her off with Allison.
“Don't do anything stupid, okay?”
-
The rain beating on the windshield was the only sound in the car, sometimes Allison’s breathing would quicken but she’d fix it at a face past. Y/N looked over, seeing her sister shed a few tears as she stared ahead of her at the dark, wet road. Y/N wouldn’t admit it out loud, but she was scared. Scared for Allison and her, scared for Diego, and scared for Five.
Five.
He made her feel weird, made her feel a way the others couldn’t so quickly it scared her. She ran over her head so many times that she may liked him, but denied it many, many times. She was getting distracted. She need to focus on saving Vanya, then run over her growing feelings for Five.

:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N had not even a clue where the strange woman had taken her and Five. The most she had known is that Five use to work here, they where walking away from what looked like a large ball, and the year was 1995.
“I must admit, Number Five, in all the time that I've been here, I've never met anyone quite like you.” They were walking at a face past, almost like they were in a hurry to get somewhere. Ever sense they time traveled, Five had not let go of Y/N’s hand. Wanting to keep her close from everyone else. “Hazel and Cha-Cha, for example, are talented, certainly, but they can't see the big picture. Your spunk,” the Handler wrapped her arm around Five’s shoulder. “your enterprising spirit, well, it reminds me a great deal of myself, if I may be so vainglorious. If things work out for you here,” She removes her arm and the group walks up a set of stairs let led to a big building. “you could potentially make a fine successor, Five. And so could Y/N.”
Once inside, the Handler gave her coat and briefcase to a male with a suit on. Five wasted no time in talking. “I'd like to discuss the logistics of my family's safety at your earliest convenience.” Five pulled Y/N along as they followed the woman up a set of stairs. “As well as this body replacement.”
“Such chutzpah. It's refreshing, I'll admit. Slow down, Five. All in good time. In fact, now that you've finally agreed to work with us, we've got all the time in the world.” She led the two kids out of a glass hallway. “The Commission works in support of a delicate balance between the time line of events and mankind's free will.” Y/N took in her surroundings. Lots of people were walking around or doing their work. Y/N took notice of the room beside her. BREIFCASE ROOM. oh, this could be useful. “The briefcase is no longer part of your kit, Five. Free your mind. You're management now, along with your little Flower. One of us.”
The group walked down another hallway. “All the people on this floor are case managers, each one responsible for one major event at a time.” She stopped at a door and gazed down it. It looked like it went on forever with countless workers at computers.
“Woah, there’s so many of them.” Y/N said in awe, mouth partly open and eyebrows furrowed in the slightest. The Handler smiled at her.
“Impressive, isn't it? Being part of something so grand. Come along.” She stood from the wall she was leaning on and continued her way down the hallway. Y/N stayed still, she wondered why so many people had a job here if what they did was only just killing and make the timelines go ham. She looked away when Five put his hand on her shoulder, tilting his head to where the Handler was standing waiting for them. Y/N nodded, letting Five pull her along again with one last look.
“Whenever someone chooses the wrong path and the time line is changed, the Commission gets a report from field agents on the ground. These field reports are sorted and assigned to a case manager. They determine if anyone needs to be removed from the equation to assure that their event happens as it should.” They walked into a room that read TUBE ROOM. So many rooms! In the said place, an elderly looking woman was putting tubes on a cart. “Based on that determination, the case manager sends instructions via pneumatic tube to temporal assassins like you formerly were, Number Five. Any queries so far?”
“Yeah.” He said lowly. “Who was the case manager handling me?”
“Ah.” She dragged her hand along Five’s jaw and then patted his cheek. She smiled at the glare Y/N sent her. “You mean the apocalypse.”
-
“Five, Eight, meet Dot.” Y/N found herself in a new room, one with many desks and workers typing away on computers or writing in folders.
“Oh, hi.” Dot whispered. The woman seemed much younger than the Handler., dressed in a blue blouse and pencil skirt. Brown, frizzy hair tucked neatly into a do and big blue pearl earrings stuck on her ears.
“Dot is responsible for all apocalypse matters. In fact, it was Dot here who first flagged your appearance in 2019.” The Handler explained.
“No hard feelings.”
“Well, you certainly put us through the ringer. Outsmarting two of our so-called best temporal assassins. If that doesn't spell leadership material..” She got louder as she spoke, causing all the workers in the room to turn away from their work and face her. “I just don't know. I suspect you like a challenge, Five.” The woman walks to a desk and opens a drawer, handing Five a orange folder. “Which is why I've given you a particularly complex first case.” Five lets go of Y/N’s hand to open it, taking in the photos on the inside. “It's too bad Joseph Spah decided against sabotaging the fuel tank. It would've been so much easier. Anyhoo if you have any questions I'll be right behind you.” She points at the desk up front and walks away.
“She talks a lot.” Y/N whispered to Five when he came back from grabbing another chair. He threw her a glance, urging her to sit down and when she did he pushed her chair closer to the desk.
“Just.. be nice, okay?” He pleaded. “Not much longer and we’ll be out of here.” Five took his own seat and opened the file again, the two getting to work.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The two had gotten a somewhat decent amount of work done, considering Y/N had barley any idea what she was supposed to do. They made a good team.
“Hiya, Five, Eight.” A female voice came from behind them. Neither two turned focusing on Five typing out something on the typewriter. ‘How's it going?”
“I must have utter silence in order to complete this task.” Five retreated blankly.
“Oh, okay.” Dot paused. “Hey, a few of us are having lunch, and I was wondering if you..” Her words died in her throat when Five cleared his throat. “you're doing something.”
Y/N passed Five the paper she just rolled up so he could put in a tube. When it was in, Five nodded to Y/N and they both stood up, leaving the room. “Oh. Bye-Bye!”
They walked down the hallway to the room that was passed before, the tube room. Walking inside, the kids scanned the many tube vacuum, looking for the right one to drop theirs into. Five had found it seconds later, lifting the lid to send the message off. “I'm afraid that's not procedure.” The Handler’s voice startled the two. She took the tube from Five’s hand. “Children, meet Gloria. Gloria is perhaps the single most vital cog in our machine.” The elderly made her way over to the group.
“Oh!”
“Gloria, this is Number Five and Number Eight.”
“Look at you.” Gloria smiled. “Deadly little things.” Y/N tucked her lips into her mouth, biting back from saying anything. Gloria turned to Five. “So happy we decided to close the contract on your life.” She then turns to Y/N. “It’s nice to meet a new worker.”
“Oh, I don’t work here.” Her voice wasn’t loud but it wasn’t quiet.
“What a shame. A thing like you could do so much damage it’s almost perfect.” Y/N didn’t know what else to do but nod with a forced smile. The elderly stared at her with curiosity, Y/N started to feel uncomfortable at her lingering eyes.
“Oh. Karl Weber.” The Handler read from the now unfolded paper that was inside the tube. “Now tell me, why unfortunate Karl?” Five had a sinister smile on his face, something anyone would’ve found adorable if it wasn’t for this reason. “Karl Weber is the butcher at the shop where Captain Ernst A. Lehmann acquires his weekly roast.”
Y/N made her forced smile even bigger. “And if Karl dies, his butcher shop is passed down to his son Otto, who never washes his hands, which is disgusting.”
“So he's the one who gives the captain his roast.”
Five nods. “And that gives him food poisoning.”
“Which makes him late for work. Which delays the takeoff.” The Handler smiles at the two kids.
“Also to make up for the lost time, the Hindenburg flies through a weather front of high electrical charge and humidity.” Y/N crossed her arms, a proud smirk on her face at feeling so smart.
“And the static electricity inside the aircraft makes it a virtual tinderbox. Tiny engine sparks.”
“And just like that, we have” Five and Y/N both raise their hands in the air in fists, bringing them down only to open them and mimic an explosion sound. The Handler and Gloria share a laugh before the Handler leads Five and Y/N back to the desk room they were just at.
“I'm sure you've all heard that Mr. Five and Miss. Eight has proven to be as adept with a pen as they are with a sword.” She talks loudly, the kids on either side of her with her hand on their backs. She pats them, and the two take it as a signal to walk away, going back to their desks. “Let their effort serve as inspiration to you all.”
The Handler started to poke at one of the workers that sat next to Y/N and Five. The two didn’t pay much attention to it as they cleaned up their work from before. Suddenly, a buzzer went off and everyone started to stand from their desks and leave the room, including the Handler. They watched as everyone fled, leaving just them too. Quickly standing up, Five snatched the red folder from Dot’s desk and slide it up his shirt.
-
Y/N’s head whipped back and forth to make sure no one was following them as Five led her by the hand to the bathrooms. Once inside, he led Y/N inside the closes stall and then turned around to lock it. Five pulled the file out and sat on the toilet while Y/N leaned her back on the door, arms crossed. Number Five opened the file, on a white piece of paper laid a large smiley face. Y/N groaned but instantly shut up when the bathroom door opened and the sound of heels clouded her hearing.
“Shit.” Five whispered, eyes wide as he looked at Y/N. If anyone caught them in here together it would look fairly weird. Y/N quickly used her powers to illusion in the Handler’s eyes that it was only Five in the stall, seemingly making herself invisible to one person.
“So, how's your first day going?” She asked, stepping into the stall beside theirs.
“Couldn't be better."
“Glad to hear it.” The woman started to urinate, and Y/N fought back the urge to gag at the sound. Five shot her a look, as if telling her to shut up. He moved to shove the folder back up his shirt when the Handler started to make dry noises. This time, Y/N couldn’t fight it and gagged the slightest. Her noise made the Handler stop and Five to cover her mouth with his hand.
“You okay?” Came the woman’s voice. after a moment of silence.
“Yeah. Fine.” The Boy’s eyes darted over Y/N’s, afraid she’d make another sound and get them caught. The Handler seemed to dismiss his answer.
“I burned my rugae. Ever burn your rugae? Rugae.” Five removed his hand to continue to shove the folder up his shirt. “The ridges on the hard palate that help pass food to the esophagus. Anyway, I'm on a liquid diet for two days, hence the marathon of urination. One faulty cog, and nothing works as it should. You know, we value integrity at the office above all else. Trust is essential, and that trust is built over time. But in the event of a breach, the Commission will act swiftly and without mercy. An efficiency I'm sure you above all people can appreciate, Number Five.” She flushed the toilet, stepping out of the stall. “I'm feeling peckish. Have you had your lunch? Has Y/N?”
“Not yet.” He answered back, fixing his tie and crossing his arms.
“Great.” She washed her hands and then dried them. “How would you both like to lunch with me in my office? You can eat solid foods, and I can live vicariously..” Y/N looked up and almost screamed. The Handler’s eyes peeking over the stall to stare at Five. Number Eight swore she stopped breathing for the moment. “through you.”
Five smiled tight at her. “Sounds great.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“And that's how Phil determined that the archduke just had to go.” The Handler slurped her drink. She sat at her desk as Five and Y/N sat in the chairs placed in front of it. “Care for dessert?”
Five shook his head. “I had a bad Twinkie in the apocalypse once. It kind of put me off desserts.” The Handler look to Y/N, who shook her head.
“Please, indulge me.” She pushed the tray of candies towards the two. Y/N sighed and picked one up, opening the wrapper and popping it into her mouth. Five doing the same. “What's that taste like to you?”
“The 1950s?” They answered at the same time, causing them to stare at each other,
“Precisely right. Our clever metaphysics division concocted a way to perfectly distill an entire decade into a single candy. This one's modeled after the Fudge Mutt, America's favorite in 1955.”
“Remarkable.” “You'll be happy to know it's the very division that's building your new body. Oh, that reminds me. I have something for you too.” She spoke into her pager and called for someone to bring in boxes. A few seconds later, a woman brought in two boxes, setting them in front of Y/N and Five. “Go ahead. Open it.” And they did. Y/N eyes widened as she saw a suit that clearly would not fit her. They where made for a woman’s body.
“Clothes make the person, children. Won't it be nice when you can actually wear it? Very soon, I assure you. They're perfecting both your bodies as we speak.”
Y/N gulped. It was weird hearing that this place she barley knew was going to give her a woman’s body. She was going to be grown up, like she never got to before. “Um, t-thank you.”
Five worriedly looked at her. “It's a very kind gift.” He nodded, looking around the room. He sensed that this must’ve been awkward for Y/N, wanting to find something to change the subject. “Is that a Chinese flamethrower?”
“Good eye.” Five stalked towards it. “War. Such a fascinating concept.” The handler patted Y/N’s shoulder before standing up and following Five. “A temporary salve for a permanent human flaw. Course, it's a bit easier to see from 30,000 feet. These are just some of the things I've collected in my travels. M26 grenades from the Vietnam War. And this, the most noteworthy, perhaps. My Walther pistol. The very one Hitler used to kill himself. We're not supposed to take these kind of things, but he wasn't gonna use it anymore. Feel how perfectly balanced that is. Hm?” She passed it to Five.
“We had some thoughts we wanted to run by you. Some suggestions to improve Commission protocol.”
“Mm! Shaking things up already.” She took the gun from his hands. “I admire that.” She bopped his nose. “Go on. Do tell!”
“Gloria.” Y/N said, looking at the Handler who sat back down at her desk. She hummed. “The tube operator. Wouldn't it be, I don’t know, simpler if case managers were to send their own messages?”
“I appreciate the thought. I really do. But everyone loves Gloria. I-I would never hear the end of it. She's been with the Commission family for years, and she's this close to making pension.” Y/N clinched her fists as a knock sounded on the door.
“Sorry to interrupt, May I have a moment alone?” Dot says.
“Of course. Duty calls. We'll continue this discussion later, Eight.”
Y/N nodded. “Sure.”
“May I” Five pointed to the bowl of candies.
“Please.” He snagged a few, grabbing Y/N’s hand and leading them both out.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Five and Y/N hid behind a wall, waiting for the perfect moment to start their plan. Once the coast was clear, Five jumped them into the tube room, hiding them behind a wall when Dot entered.
“Gloria, the Handler knows that Five and Eight are up to something. Get this to Hazel and Cha-Cha immediately. Immediately.”
“Okay. Yeah. Who are they?” Gloria mumbled to herself. Five jumped behind Gloria and hit the back of her head with a stapler, making her fall unconscious. Y/N ran from her place and grabbed the tube, throwing it to Five who was already sitting at desk with the typewriter to re-write the message to be sent. He opened the tube, taking the previous note out, scanned it, then started writing.
He threw one tube to Y/N, who caught it with ease and put it in the tube vacuum, Five doing the same with the other one, sending their messages to the masked intruders.
“You know that's not how we do things here.” Shit. “Where's Gloria?”
“Don't know. Couldn't find her anywhere.” As if on cue, Gloria groaned from the Handler. She turned around, seeing Gloria’s feet stick out from her desk. Five took a step away from the tube he was leaning on, pulling Y/N with him. “You're both a great disappointment to me. You can't change what's to come, Five and Eight. I truly find it so odd that you can't shed this fantasy. You're a first-rate pragmatist. You belong here with us. Eight belongs with us.”
“I don't belong anywhere, thanks to you.” His jaw was slack as he spoke with venom. “You made me a killer. And you’re not going to do the same with Y/N.”
“You were always a killer. I just pointed you in a direction. Eight has so much to offer, so much life ahead of her she never got to live.” The Handler unzipped the front of her skirt, pulling out a gun. Five jumped the two out of the way as she fired. It was now game on.
The Handler kept shooting aimlessly at anything that moved an inch, much like the masked people at the store. Five and Y/N kept still has they moved around to avoid getting shot. As the Handler walked down the room, Five pushed a cart at her, which she stop with her heel and shot at the spot he was in. Only for him to be gone.
“What's the rush, Five? We're just getting started.”
Hell yeah we are.
Five jumped in front of the Handler. “Is this how you want the last line of your report to read?”
He held a sick, sweet smile on his face. “When I'm done, I'm done, I guess.”
“You can't keep this up, Five. We both know that even you have a limit. I saved you from a lifetime of being alone. You owe me.” Her face was hard as she clicked her gun, but nothing happened. Her ammo was low and her gun was caught. The Handler turned around when she heard a sweet but sinister laugh from behind her. “Hmm, of course he owe a debt. Typical Five.” The man at mention jumps to stand next to Y/N. The girl undoes the top of a grenade, getting it ready to be exploded. “But it's not to you.” With a smirk, she rolls it on the floor where it lands in front of the Handler’s feet. Number Eight grabs Five’s hand and runs the both of the out, Five leans against the wall outside of the door, wrapping his arms around Y/N’s back as her face was stuffed in his chest.
The heat from the fire pushing out of the room was almost unbearable, but it ended as quickly as it started. Five wasted no time jumping with Y/N to the briefcase room and grabbing one, setting the date to 2019. He grabbed the extra grenade from his pocket and opened it with his teeth, setting it between two cases as they ran out of the room, exploding it. Just before the explosion could reach them, they were gone.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
WEDNESDAY. 8:15 am (...again)
“Je-Jesus!” Allison yelled out, watching as her two siblings fell from the sky. Five landed on a briefcase, with Y/N landing on top of him. Both groaning.
“You guys, am I still high, or do you see them, too?”
“Five, Y/N, where have you been?” Luther asked as Y/N rolled off Five, almost falling onto the ground before Monkey Man caught her. Her head was pounding.
“Are you all right?” Allison asked, catching Five who also rolled off the briefcase and nearly on the floor.
“Who did this?”
“Irrelevant.” Five stood up, snatching Allison’s coffee and walking forward for a moment to regain his senses. He drank what was left of it and sighed, turning around to face his family. “So, the apocalypse is in three days. The only chance we have to save our world is, well, us.”
“The Umbrella Academy.”
“Yeah,” Y/N groaned, hand on her head. “but with Five, clearly.”
“So if y'all don't get your sideshow acts together and get over yourselves, we're screwed. Who cares if Dad messed us up? Are we gonna let that define us? No. And to give us a fighting chance to see next week, we’ve come back with a lead. We know who's responsible for the apocalypse.” He passes the crumpled paper to Allison’s stretched hand. “This is who we have to stop.”
“Harold Jenkins?”
“Who the hell is Harold Jenkins?” Diego spoke, his hands on both of Y/N’s shoulders, searching her face for any cuts or bruises. Five slurped the rest of the coffee, not saying anything as everyone else looked at him.

:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“When's it supposed to happen? This apocalypse.” Luther sat on a chair that he placed in front of Diego’s bed, where a now awake Five sat on the edge on with his elbows on his knees. A tired Y/N sat only a few inches away from Five, her head rested on one of her hands and elbow on her knee as she prompted her leg up with the help of the bed frame.
“I can't give you the exact hour, but..” Five paused. “from what I could gather, we have four days left.”
“Why didn't you say something sooner?”
“It wouldn't have mattered.”
“Of course it would.” Luther shot back. “We could've banded together and helped you try to stop this thing.”
“For the record, you already tried.” Five fiddled with his fingers as he made eye contact with Luther.
“What do you mean, Five?” Y/N asked. Five turned his head to her.
“I found all of you. Your bodies.” Five’s eyes were dopey. He hated talking about it. Although he may seem like a grumpy asshole, deep down he does have love for his family, and seeing them die was one of the worst parts of his forty-five years in an unknown world.
“We die?” Luther’s eyebrows shot up the slightest in confusion.
“Horribly.” Y/N takes her head out of her hands slowly when Five looks back to Luther. She was tempted to reach a soothing hand out to him, and she did. Her hand was placed gently on his back and moving in and up-down motion for what she hoped he found comforting. He did. “You were together, trying to stop whoever it was that ends the world.”
“Wait, how do you know that?”
Five pulls out the eye from his pocket that had caused many trips to a store and unwelcoming service. “This was clutched in your dead hand when I found you.” He throws it to Luther who easily catches it. “Must've ripped it out of their head right before you went down.”
“Whose head?”
“Like I said, I don't know.” Five shrugs, causing Y/N’s hand to fall from his back.
“Well, there's a serial number on the back. Think maybe you could try-”
“We already tried that.” Five hummed in agreement to Y/N’s words, giving her a small smile and he lets out a soft chuckle.
“It's just another hunk of glass.” Luther passed the eye back to Five. It was silent for a moment as everyone took Five’s words in. Or it was until the door slammed open.
“Pieces of shit.” Diego stormed down the stairs, heading straight to the two kids. “Do you have any idea what you two just did?” He grunts as Luther stands up and wraps his arms around his brother, keeping him from going any closer to the others. “Nope, let me Get your ape hands off of me!”
“I can do this as long as it takes you to calm down.” Diego’s feet were lifted off the ground at this point. He took a moment before he stopped thrashing in Luther’s hold.
“Fine.” He panted. Luther dropped him.
“Now, wanna tell us what you're talkin' about?”
“Our brother's been pretty busy since he got back.” He stared at Five, who stared back. Diego’s gaze then moved to Y/N’s lowered one. “And so has our sister. They were in the middle of that shootout at Griddy's, and then at Gimble Brothers, after the guys in masks attacked the Academy, looking for him and now Y/N.” He pointed his fingers at them.
“None of which is any of your concern.” Five gave back.
“It is now. They just killed my friend.” Y/N’s head shot up at his words. The only friend he has is.. oh.
“Eudora is dead?” Her voice was just above a whisper, you could almost miss it. She made eye contact with Diego, who gave her a sad look and nodded, but quickly masked it with his stone face. She gulped and turned her head to the boy next to her. “Who are they, Five?”
His adam’s apple bobbled has he swallowed. “They work for my former employer. A woman called The Handler. She sent them to stop me. Then, soon as Diego's friend got in their way, well, fair game.”
“And now they're my fair game. And I'm gonna see to it they pay.” Diego turned around to exit the room once again before Five called out to him.
“That would be a mistake, Diego. They've killed people far more dangerous than you.”
“Yeah, we'll see about that.” He slams the door on his way out, no emotion to him. Y/N sighed blinking back the stressed tears that started to form in her eyes.
“Former employer? What's this really about? And don't give me any of this "It's none of your business" crap, all right?”
Five looked around the room, like he was looking for an escape. “Well, it's a long story.” and from there, he told Y/N and Luther how everything started with his ‘former-employer’.
-
“So you were a hit man?” Was the first thing Luther asked after Five’s story, passing him a plate of food and a cup of coffee.
“Yes.”
“Uh I mean, you had a code, right? You didn't kill just anybody.” Luther stammered out.
Five answered almost right after Luther stopped talking. “No code. We took out anyone who messed with the time line.”
Number One took his seat. “What about innocent people?”
“It was the only way I could get back here.”
“But that's murder.”
Y/N groaned. “Jesus, come on Luther, man up. We're not little kids anymore. In our world now there's no such thing as good guys or bad guys. Just people, goin' about their lives.”
“But when the world ends, all those people die, including our family.” Five tells him with barley any emotion in his voice, much like Diego’s. Five sighs. “Time changes everything.” The boy thought over reaching a hand out to grab Y/N’s, Five felt scared and lonely in that moment, he needed the comfort of someone else, but he didn’t know how to react with it.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
It had been many hours since then. The trio had gone back to the mansion and done their own things once there. Five went to talk with Klaus, who ended up leaving a few minutes later with Diego and Luther was somewhere still in the house. Y/N had managed to get a quick nap in before heading over to Five’s room.
She stood behind him with her arms crossed as he wrote equations on the blackboard walls with chalk, sometimes butting in to tell him he got something wrong. Y/N wasn’t the smartest person when it came to math, at least not smarter than Five. Being a lab rat does that to you.
“Okay, I think I've got something, Delores. It's tenuous, but promising.” Five says, eyes not leaving the wall.
Y/N scoffed. “Dude, I’m right here.” Her eyebrows furrowed in a look that said ‘can you believe this guy?’.
“Who you talkin' to? What is all this?” Came Luther’s voice. He scanned the wall as Five continued to mark the walls.
“Five was talking to his plastic girlfriend.” Y/N shook her head and walked over to his desk to lean her back against it.
Five ignored her remarks. “It's a probability map.”
“Probability of what?” He looked to Y/N with confusion, the girl only shrugged.
“Of whose death could save the world.” Five said like it was obvious. “I've narrowed it down to four.”
“Are you saying one of these four people causes the apocalypse?”
“No, I'm saying that their death might prevent it.” His chalk taps on the blackboard more, the sound starting to give Y/N a headache. “I'm not following.” Luther whispers to Five.
“Time is fickle, Luther.” He stops writing and turns to his Brother. “The slightest alteration in events can lead to massively different outcomes in the time continuum.”
“The butterfly effect.” Y/N crossed her right hand over her left wrists and twists her thumbs together, so her hand looks like a butterfly and wiggles her fingers.
Five nods. “So all I have to do is find the people with the greatest probability of impacting the time line, wherever they may be, and kill them. Oh, yeah”
Luther walks around Five’s bed to where the said boy was just standing, reading the first name on his list that was circled. “Milton Greene. So who's he, a terrorist or something?”
“I believe he is a gardener.” Five says, writing something in Vanya’s book.
Luther’s head snaps to Five. “You can't be serious. Wait, this is madness, Five. You-” His words died in his throat as Five reached under his bed and pulled out a gun case. “Wh-Where'd you get that?”
“In Dad's room. I think he used it to shoot a rhinoceros.” Number Five unzipped the bag and pulled out the gun, placing it on his shoulder. “It's similar to the model I used at work. Nice shoulder fit and highly reliable.”
“But you can't This guy Milton is just an innocent man.”
“To Five, this is basic math. Not that you’d really understand.” Y/N mumbled the last part more to herself but Five caught it and smirked at her.
“His death could potentially save the lives of billions. If I did nothing, he'd be dead in four days anyway. The apocalypse won't spare anyone.”
“We don't do this kind of thing.”
“We are not doing anything. I am.” He paused. “Considering letting Y/N join me. She could be useful to the mission.” The mentioned girl felt a sense of pride run through her veins that she could be useful.
Luther shook his head. “I can't let you go and kill innocent people. No matter how many lives you'll save.”
“Well, good luck stopping me.” Five turned and walked to his door, gun in hand. “Come on, Y/N.”
Luther sighs. “You're not going anywhere.” He grabs Five’s doll by the neck and holds her outside the window. He then pulls Y/N towards him so her back is against his chest. She let out a yelp as his arm locked around her neck as if she was in a chokehold.
Five turned around at the sound, raising the gun in the air at the sight of his doll out the window. “Put her down. And let her go.”
“Put the gun down. You're not killing anyone. I know they’re important to you, so don't make me do this.” Five scoffs.
“Get your ape hands off me!” Y/N used her powers to make Luther think he was back on the moon. With him now in shock at the scene Y/N was able to push out of his hold, and once she was away she dropped the scene. The girl swiftly made her way to Five’s side, the male dropping one arm from the gun to push Y/N behind him a little.
Luther closed his eyes for a moment before opening them. His arm shoved further out the window. “It's either her or the gun. You decide.” His voice seemed mad, but his voice was scared. When Five made no effort to move, Luther let go of the doll. Five jumped to catch her just before she dropped while Y/N moved to try and grab the gun.
Key word was try, because Luther used his gorilla speed to grab it before she could and push her out of it’s reach. She stumbled back for a moment as she regained her footing. “The hell is wrong with you, Luther?”
“I can keep doin' this all day.” He watches as Five cradles the doll in his hands. Luther sighs. “I know you guys are still good people. Otherwise, you, Five wouldn't have risked everything coming back here to save us all. Y/N wouldn’t have risked her life and angry brothers to protect you. But you're not on your own anymore.”
Five looked up at Luther. “There is one way. But it's just about impossible.”
“More impossible than what brought you back here?”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N opened her eyes when she felt the car come to a stop. Ultimately, Five didn’t want her to come, didn’t want her to have to see the masked people again or the person he worked for. Not that he was embarrassed or anything, he just did not want the Handler to get any ideas with you.
Five, who sat in the passenger seat, undid his seatbelt. “You know, I never enjoyed it. The killing.” Y/N from the backseat leaned up to be in between the passenger and driver seat. “I mean, I was I was good at my work, and I I took pride in it. But it never gave me pleasure.” He sighed. “I think it was all those years alone. Solitude can do funny things to the mind.”
“Yeah, well, you were gone for such a long time. I only spent four years on the moon, but that was more than enough. It's the being alone that breaks you.”
Y/N decided to add her pitch into the conversation, since they were getting sappy. “I could tell you all about being alone. The only person who visited was Vanya and sometimes Diego and then they stopped. Got forced into doing training all the time by Dad. Y’know, if he didn’t die, I wouldn’t be sitting in this car with you both. I would’ve been six-feet under with Ben.” She gave them both a tight lipped smile and patted both of their shoulders.
Both males turned to look at Y/N. Of course it wasn’t their fault that Y/N had felt that way and their wasn’t a way of them knowing prier. Number Eight took in their expressions; Luther’s looked sad with a hint of pity, and Five’s was almost unexplainable but he also mirrored Luther’s and looked sad.
She cleared her throat, wanting to get the spotlight off her. “So, you think they'll buy it?” She pointed to the briefcase that was in front of her. Five had mentioned to the two of them that he used them to time travel at his work, so they brought a fake one to make a trade.
Five tore his gaze from Y/N and sighed. “Well, what I do know is that they're desperate. It's like a cop losing his gun. If the Commission finds out, they'll be in deep shit. Oh, not to mention the fact that they'll be stuck here until they get it back.”
“Well, I should hold onto it.” Luther mentioned. Five hummed in confusion. “In case they make a move on you.”
‘Okay, Luther, but be careful. And you too, Y/N. I mean, I've I've lived a long life, but you're still a young man and girl. You got your whole life’s ahead of you. Don't waste it.” When Five reached the end of his sentence his eyes made their way to Y/N’s. While she thought it was sweet, she also didn’t want him to feel bad or scared for her. That was a while ago, she was fine now. Well, as fine as she could be anyway.
She was about to say something when a car approached over the hill in front of them. “Hmm, Here we go.” The three got out of the car, stepping around to stand beside it as the other car drove passed them, stopping down the road a few feet away. “If this all goes sideways, do me a favor and tell Delores I'm sorry.” Five paused. “And Y/N?” She turned her head at the mention of her name. “Stay safe, okay?” and with that Five was off.
Y/N and Luther watched as Five and the masked people met in the middle of the road. As they started their conversation, Luther nudge Y/N with his elbow. “You okay?”
She nodded. “Yeah. Fine.”
“Hey, uh, I’m sorry about earlier. Using you against Five and stuff. And I’m sorry you felt that way with Dad, that no one was there for you.” This was not what she needed to hear from her brother at the moment. She sighed.
“It’s fine, Luther. I don’t need you to feel pity for me. You or Five. I’m fine, trust me.” Her voice was neutral. No sadness or sarcasm behind her words. Luther nodded and brought his attention back to the task at hand. The two watched as the woman pulled out a gun, making them go stiff for a moment.
“Maybe. But as I'm sure you found out in your previous foray, my brother is not your average giant. And the girl is not your average kid.”
“He's right.” The male said, looking at his partner. “You dropped a chandelier on him, got right back up. I shot the girl and she looks perfectly fine.”
“By the time you took him out, they’d smash your precious briefcase to a pulp.” That was the last thing Y/N heard before she tuned out what they were saying. To be honest, she had a headache again from all the running around and she really just wanted to see Diego again after how things ended when she last saw him.
“What happens now?” Y/N’s head titled to see Five sitting on the front of the car.
“Now we wait.” The wind was whistling and the girl pulled her blouse closer to her skin for warmth. All of a sudden, from down the road music had started playing. She turned her body to see an ice-cream truck making it’s way towards them.
“Is that her?”
They all watched closely as the truck drove by, Klaus in the drivers seat waving to the trio with what looked like a half asleep Diego beside him. She let out a confused huff. “Now what the hell are they doing here?”
And as usual, nothing an go right for the Hargreeves family as the two masked people started shooting at the truck. As if Karma was alive then and there, the tuck hit the two assassins, sending them flying back. Their bullet making it’s way to the group of three.
Luther pushed Five and Y/N behind him, his arm raised to protect the two when time seemed to stop. Five peeked around Luther to see everything still, he was about to move from his spot when someone started talking.
“What the fuck is going on?” His had snapped to his left at the voice. Y/N was moving like him, not frozen in time. She was slightly panicked, eyes traveling everywhere.
“Y/N?” Five whispered in confusion. Y/N followed Five out and around Luther, she took the time to take in her surroundings once again, seeing everyone frozen in their place.
“Neat trick, isn't it?” She jumped at the new, unfamiliar voice. Number Eight turned to see a woman clad in a black cloak, black hat booming against her white hair and black sunglasses, a briefcase in hand. Her other hand was lifting up net that was sitting in front of her face. She than took off the glasses. “Hello, Five. You look good, all things considered.”
“It's good to see you again.” He shoved his hands in his shorts pockets.
“Feels like we met just yesterday. Course, you were a little bit older then. Congratulations on the age regression, by the way. Very clever. Threw us all off the scent.” Listening to them talk made Y/N feel very awkward.
“Ah, well, I wish I could take credit. I just miscalculated the time dilation projections, and Well, you know. Here I am.”
“You realize your efforts are futile.” The woman smiled at him and moved her head so her gaze was on Y/N. “Ah, and you must be Number Eight.” She stuck her hand out. “They call me The Handler, dear.”
Her smile was almost sickening, but Y/N pushed the feeling down and slowly met her hand in a firm handshake. “Y/N is, uh, fine.” Her voice was just above a whisper, cautious of her. The white haired woman nodded, retracting her hand and crossing her arms behind her back.
“She’s a cute little one. I can see why you like her so much.” Five scoffed at The Handlers playful words and Y/N moved to stand next to Five who - like he did in his room what seemed to be hours go - pushed her slightly behind him. “So why don't you tell me what you really want?”
“I want you to put a stop to it.” Five answered plainly, copying her stance and crossing his arms behind his back. It was really just a flock to reach for the gun tucked away under his blouse.
“You realize what you're asking for is next to impossible, even for me. What's meant to be is meant to be. That's our raison d'être.” When she spoke, her words sounded like she was programmed what to say, like she wasn’t even real.
Five pointed the gun at her. “Yeah? Well how about survival as a raison?”
“I'll just be replaced. I'm but a small cog in a machine.” She paused. “This fantasy you've been nurturing about summoning up your family to stop the apocalypse is just that. A fantasy.” The Handler took a step closer to the kids. “I must say, though, we're all quite impressed with your initiative, your stick-to-itiveness, really quite, quite something. Which is why we want to offer you a new position back at the Commission, in management. That is with another price.” Her eyes flickered to Y/N.
Five chuckles. “Sorry, what's that now?”
“Come back to work for us again. You know it's where you belong.” She walked closer.
“Well, it didn't work out too well the last time.”
“But you wouldn't be in the correction division any longer. I'm talking about the home office. You'd have the best health and pension, and an end to this ceaseless travel. You're a distinguished professional in schoolboy shorts.” Ew. “We have the technology to reverse the process. I mean, you you can't be happy like this.” The woman lowered Five’s gun.
Five stuffed a glance at Y/N through the corner of his eye before he took in a breath. “I'm not looking for happy.”
The Handler placed her hand on Five cheek, stroking it. “We're all looking for happy.” Y/N acted before she could stop herself. moving around Five to shove down the woman’s hand, a glare on her face as she did so. She expected her to be mad, but the boss only smiled. “We can make that happen.” She drew her attention back on Five. “We can make you yourself again.”
Five sighed, pulling Y/N away from The Handler. “And what about my family?”
“What about them?”
“I want them to survive.”
She sighs. “All of them?”
“Yes, all of them.” Y/N grits out. What was this woman not understanding?
She reaches behind her and pulls out her sunglasses, putting them back on her eyes. “Well, I'll see what I can do.” She sticks out her hand. “Do we have a deal?”
“One thing.” Five walks away, going to fix a few things before the timeline got reset to normal, leaving Y/N alone with The Handler.
“What was the ‘price’ about? I couldn’t help but notice you eyeing me.” Y/N didn’t let her voice seem scared anymore. This woman was strange, and she was not afraid of her. The Handler smiled at the mention.
“I almost forgot!” Her hands shot up in a surprised manner, catching Five’s attention as he walked back. “You’re apart of the deal.”
“What?!” Five knew something like this would happen from the start. “No way. Y/N stays here.”
“Where’s the fun in that? Having the Number Five back and an addition of Number Eight? It was apart of our deal, Five. No Y/N means no surviving for everyone.” She smirked in victory when Five’s jaw clenched. He scoffed, shaking his head.
“Fine. But we have rules.” He stepped closer to her. “Y/N stays with me, you don’t get to go and make her an assassin.” His gaze was hard, it was kind of hot. Wait, what?
The Handler smiled and nodded, sticking her hand out once again for Five to take. Y/N nodded when he looked over to her, taking his hand in her own. He was the once who interlaced their fingers and Y/N tried to fight the feeling in her stomach at the contact. Sure they had made contact with each other before, but something about this felt different.
Finally, Five held out his own hand to grab onto The Handler’s, it only took not even longer then two seconds for the three of them to warp out of their timeline. And just like that, they were gone.

Y/N had been on her own for a little while after the attack at the mansion. She knew Luther had left to stay in his room and Allison went to go check on him. Vanya was at her apartment, Klaus and Five where somewhere so the last sibling to be with was Diego. She didn’t mind Diego’s company, so she made her way to follow him.
Which was why she ended up sitting on a staircase outside a house with her brother. Y/N didn’t need to ask who’s house it was because she knew it was Eudora’s, Diego’s lady friend, and also a cop. Y/N had heard about the woman a few times but never met her.. well, until now.
“What the hell?” Y/N turned her head at the voice and saw Eudora shut her door. “Who'd you piss off this time?” She asked, walking over to stand beside Diego’s laying figure.
He shrugs. “I gave it as good as I got.” She chuckles softly, looking over to Y/N for a short second.
“You didn't answer my question. And who’s that?”
Diego sat up. “Oh, yes. That’s my sister. Y/N.” He patted her head. Y/N lightly pushed her brothers hand off her head and waved to the cop, who waved back with a small smile. Eudora then hands Diego her coffee mug, who tales it with a sigh. “How's all that paperwork coming along?”
“It's a real page-turner.” She pauses. “I've got two guys in children's masks, rare bullet casings, a random fingerprint from a 1930s cold case, and I just learned that the tow truck driver from the doughnut shop didn't have any family.”
“The boy and girl.” Y/N tried not to show her wide eyes as Diego talked. I mean, her and Five where the ones that caused all the mishap at the doughnut shop and now a cop was talking about it right in front of her.
“Not his, apparently. The kid's our only possible witness and he's a complete mystery.” Not to me, Y/N thought. “Okay, what's going on?”
“What?” Diego looked up at her.
“You could have called me for an update. So why are you really here?”
“Nothin', I just, uh My mom.” He paused. Y/N’s ears perked up at the mention of her Mom. “She died last night.” The girls eyes widened for the second time, it was news to her that her Mom had died, when did it even happen? Did the masked people kill her?
“What!?” Both adults turned to face Y/N. Diego’s mouth was agape as he failed to mention this to her sooner and Eudora’s was sorrowful. To her, it looked like a 13-year old just lost both her parents.
“Shit. Diego, Y/N I'm so sorry.” The woman moved to sit next to Diego on the steps, who had his left arm wrapped around a still confused Y/N. “I remember how close you were. Is there anything I can--”
“I just-- I don't..” He stammered. “I don't know how to..”
“Is that what this is about? Hey. Hey.” Eudora put her hand on Diego’s arm for comfort. “Tell me what's going on. Who did this?”
“Let's just say I didn't get a good look at their faces.” The masked people.
“You went after the guys in the masks, didn't you?”
“No, he didn't go after them. And one's a woman by the way, so don’t be sexist.” Y/N slightly joked.
Eudora looked from Y/N to Diego. “I specifically told you not to follow them.”
Y/N shook her head. “They came to our house, looking for our brother, and now they’re looking for me too.”
“They tried to kill my family.” Diego sniffed.
“Why?”
“I don't know. He's been missing since yesterday. I need to find him.”
“Diego, you need to let me handle this. You're not equipped--”
Diego cut her off with a shake of his head. “Oh, you always loved tellin' me what I can and can't do. You know, maybe, for once, just try things my way.”
“I can't.” Eudora stood up and grabbed her purse.
“No wonder we didn't last.”
There was a pause before she spoke again “Yep.” She walked off the steps before turning back to the duo. “I'm sorry about your mom, Diego, Y/N. Really, I am.” And she walked away. Y/N watched as Diego stared off to where Eudora had just been before pulling him into a side hug.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Diego and Y/N had went back home to scout out Luther. With the trio now ready to find Five, Y/N led them to the last place she saw the boy, his van.
“This is it.” Y/N sighed as they got closer to it
“He's still here. This is Five's van.” Luther adds.
“Go. Go.” Diego rushes as they reach the van door. Luther tires to open the door but to no avail, it’s locked. Diego shakes his head before pulling out a knife and picking the lock. The door finally open and both boys try to go in at the same time.
“I'm One.” Says Luther, making his way in the passenger door where he once was what felt like days ago. Diego looked towards Y/N with a ‘are you seeing this?’ face, to which she responds with a eye roll.
Y/N and Diego make their way into the back of the van that is littered with Five’s belongings, but the doll is no where to be seen. They rummage through a few things before Number Two whistles. “I know where to find Five.” He holds up Vanya’s book that was full of math equations on the inside and a library stamp.
--
Now they were exactly at that location. Y/N had never been to a library before, sure she’s been to the one inside the Academy but never one outside it or this huge.
“Let's split up.” Luther says, earning an eye roll from his brother.
“Wow. Good thinking.” The two walk to the left and right, leaving Y/N in the middle. She sighed and started her searched. She found nothing on the first level of the building, only a few students studying, groups of people talking, couples and a few books she stopped to investigate. She continued her search until she met up with her brothers on the third floor.
“Anything?”
“No.” “Nope.”
The three sat in silence for a moment, Luther started to walk away before Diego sighed. “You wanna know why I left?”
Luther walks back over. “What? What are you talking about?”
“Why I left the Academy.”
“Yeah, 'cause you couldn't handle me being Number One.” As if.
“No.” Diego shook his head. “Because that's what you do when you're 17. You move out, become your own person, grow up.”
“I wouldn’t know that.” Y/N mumbled, feeling uncomfortable between the fighting men.
“Oh, yeah. You're a real grown-up.”
“At least I make my own decisions. You've never had to hold down a job. Pay bills. You ever even been with a girl?”
“I-” Luther clears his throat as Y/N holds back a smirk. “I don't know what you're talking about.”
Diego chuckles. “Look, you wanna blame me, blame us for leaving that's okay. But maybe you're asking yourself the wrong question. Maybe it's not about why we left. Maybe it's about why you stayed.”
Luther took a step closer. “I stayed because the world needed me. Y/N also stayed.”
Y/N leaned off the railing, coming to stand face to face with Luther. “You only stayed because you couldn't let go of the way things used to be. With the Academy. Dad. Hell, even Allison.” She bit the inside of her cheek. “The difference between you and I, Luther.. is that you had a choice.”
Diego moved to stand next to Y/N. “Dad's dead. Mom too, now. We're orphans again, dude. And things are never gonna go back to the way they used to be.” The two stared at each other for a moment.
“Do you ever stop talking?” The laughter of a woman was what caught Diego and Y/N’s attention. The two looked at each other before moving around the room to see what was causing such a crowd. When they rounded the corner, Five could be seen with an arm around the plastic doll, wine bottle in hand, and textbooks around him. The wall beside him had also had equations written on it.
“Is he, um?”
“Drunk as a skunk.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“Well, we can't go back to the house. It's not secure. Those psychopaths could come back at any moment.” Luther says from behind Diego and Y/N. He had taken the role of carrying drunk Five as he was quote on quote “the strongest.”
“Yeah, no shit.” Y/N scuffed out. There was no reason why she felt the need to be snappy, but since Luther had spoke about her wanting to stay at the Academy, something sparked inside her.
“My place is closer. No one will look for him there.” Five then belches and shifts his head up. Luther sighs.
“If you vomit on me..”
“You know what's funny?” Five leans back and look at the sky, a tight grip on his doll. “Aah! I'm going through puberty.” He scoffs. “Huh. Twice. It seems like Flower is too.” Y/N’s eyes widen slightly. Five hadn’t called her Flower in the longest time, even before his disappearance he left the name to Diego. “And I..” He chuckles. “I drank that whole bottle, didn't I? That's what you do when the world you love goes bye-bye.” Five waves his hand in the air. “Poof, it's gone. What are you guys talkin' about?”
Luther lets out a breath. “Two masked intruders attacked the Academy last night.”
“They came looking for you and now Y/N. So I need you to focus. What do they want?”
“Hazel and Cha-Cha.” Five slurred.
“Who?”
“You know, I hate code names.” Luther shook his head.
“Ah, the best of the best. Except for me, of course.” The boy smiled.
“The best of what, Five?” Y/N asked softly.
Five ignored her question. “You know, Delores always said she hated when I drink. She said it made me surly--”
“Hey!” Diego yelled, turning around to face Five, who hummed. “I need you to focus. What do this Hazel and Cha-Cha want? We just wanna protect you and Y/N.”
“Y/N? It’s Flower.”
Diego sighed. “Okay, yes. You and Flower.”
“Protect me. I don't need your protection, Diego. I can protect Flower and I. Do you have any idea how many people I've killed? No. I'm the Four frickin' Horsemen. The apocalypse is coming.” Five turns his head the other way and vomits.  “Oh, Jesus Christ.” Y/N rests her palm on her forehead.
--
Five was now laid on Diego’s bed, sound asleep. The trio watches for a moment as he sleeps, his face curled into the pillow.
“Funny. If I didn't know he was such a prick, I'd say he looks almost adorable in his sleep.” Diego says.
“Well, don't worry. He'll sober up eventually. Be back to his normal, unpleasant self.” They start to walk away but Y/N lingers for a moment.
“Yeah, I can't wait that long. I need to find out what his connection is with these lunatics before someone else dies.”
“All that stuff he was saying before.. what do you think he meant by that?” Diego heled his hand up as if saying ‘shh’. That’s when heard the loud footsteps approaching. Diego got out one of his many knifes, moving to stand agaisnt the wall by his door. As he opened the door, a male voice came.
“You throw another one of those goddamn knives at me, I'm pressin' charges.”
Diego drops his arm. “What do you want, Al?” A middle aged man walks into the room a little bit.
“I ain't your secretary.”
“Yeah.”
“Some lady called for you, said she needs your help.” Diego asked who, to which the man, Al, said he didn’t know. “Some, uh, detective. I think she said her name was, uh, Blotch or somethin'.”
“Patch?” Number two asked, “She needs my help.”
“She needs you to meet her at that motel, a dump on Calhoun.”
“When?” He asked worriedly.
“About half an hour ago. Uh, said she found your brother.” Al shrugged.
Diego looked to Five. “Well, that didn't make sense.” The three looked at each other before all thinking of the only brother it could be.
“Klaus.” Diego than rushed out of the room with a slam of his door.
“Go. I'll wait here with..” Luther turns to see Y/N sitting on the edge of the bed and Five’s hand moving to hold Y/N’s in his sleep. He watched as the boy shuffled closer to the girls side, a small smile resting on Y/N’s face as she gripped onto his hand slowly.  Luther sighs “them.”

╰┈ BEWARE OF .. violence, swearing, mention of needles, bad writing
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Number Five had made it his responsibility to make sure Y/N was okay over the course of the night. Helping her lay on his bed, he made sure to clean her wound the best he could with his lack of medical experience. Holding her thigh as he pierced the needle and thread through the skin, closing it.
Her grunts filled the void and Five couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her. He didn’t know why he was feeling this way, his usual thoughts of the apocalypse were now clouded with Y/N. When he blinked back to reality, he grabbed a Billy the Choo-Choo band-aid and stuck it to the wound.
Y/N let out a satisfied sigh as the discomfort was now over with. She sat up on the bed in time to see Five take off his blazer and white t-shirt, leaving him in a white tank top. Her cheeks heated up the slightest and scooted her way to be beside him, picking up a new needle and doing the same thing he did to her. Completing it with the band-aid.
Five nodded in thanks, putting his shirt and blazer back on and zipping the bag from the store up that held the doll and a few other things. He reached a hand to Y/N, who took it and pulled herself up (along with his strength). He held her hand as she sturdied herself.
“Can you walk? Maybe you should stay here.”
“No! No. I-I’m okay.” Truth was, she didn’t want to be alone right now. She was still shaken up about being shot that being alone wasn’t in her agenda, plus she didn’t know where the rest of her siblings were.
Five looked in her eyes for a moment and she swore she could see crimson slowly making its way to his ears, but he moved back before she could investigate further. Five made his way to the window in his bedroom, bag on his back as he started to walk down the set of stairs outside his room. Y/N followed suit.
“-so that Pogo will get off my ass!” Y/N looked down over the railing to see Klaus in a garbage bin, pushing things to the side in a search for something.
“I'd ask what you're up to, Klaus, but then it occurred to me.” Five stops his climbing. “I don’t care.” He continued, keeping an eye out as Y/N made her way down.
“Hey!” Klaus laughs. “You know there are easier ways out of the house, buddy?” When he was done talking to noticed Y/N grunting as she landed a bit harshly on the ground. “Especially with Y/N’s leg.”
“This one involved the least amount of talking. Or so I thought.” He paused. “Y/N wanted to come on her own will.”
Klaus leaned his arms on the bin, a flask in hand. “Hey, hey, so, you need anymore company today? I could, uh, clear my schedule.”
“Looks like you got your hands full.” Five sent him a tight lipped smile.
“Oh this?” Klaus looks at what he’s doing. “No, no, no. I could do this whenever, I’m just-” He falls backwards, Y/N slightly moving forward to make sure he was okay when she heard rustling. “Oh! Found it, thank God!” He held up a half eaten donut, taking a bite of it.
“Fucking hell.” Y/N shook her head and rested her hand on her forehead.
“I’m done funding your drug habit.” Five turns to walk away, being sure to look behind him to see if Y/N was following.
“Come on! You don't- maybe I just wanna hang out with my brother.” Klaus looks up slightly to the side of the bin. “Not you.” He looks back to Y/N and Five who were already halfway to a plumbing van. “Mi hermano! I love you! Even if you can't love yourself!”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The van was park outside of the Meritech building. Five rolled down the window and watched the building like it was going to get up and walk away. Y/N sat with her feet prompted on the dash board - keeping any unwanted pressure off her hurt calf. She and Five watched as Lance walked to the building, but Eight looked away shortly after, feeling bored.
She was only caught out of her trance of watching the leaves sway in the wind off the tree outside her window when Five started mumbling to himself. “Oh, shit.” Five reached back to open the bag and pull the doll out, sitting her up in-between the two. “Hey. Sorry you were in there for so long, Delores. No, I'm not drunk. I'm working. Yes, it's about the eye thing. This is the place it was made. Or will be made.” He stops talking, looking out the window again and sighing. “We just have to wait.”
--
Y/N had almost fallen asleep from the lack of conversation in the van. She lolled her head to rest on the window when, from beside her, she heard grunting. Y/N looked over quickly seeing Five had his eyes closed and was mumbling incoherent things. Before she could do anything, a knock was hit against the window. Eight turned her head and saw Luther. She chose to ignore the mans calls and focus on Five.
“Five? Five, wake up!” Y/N shook him lightly, not wanting to scare him as he snapped his eyes open, panting. Five looked around at his surroundings, his orbs meeting Y/N’s e/c concerned ones. He didn’t get to say anything as Luther opened the passenger side door.
“You okay?” The man asks, moving his wrist as a way to tell Y/N to move. She rolled her eyes and crawled to the back of the van where she found Klaus sitting and playing with Five’s doll.
“You shouldn't be- How did you find us?”
“Um..” Luther turns in his seat to look to the back of the van.
The two see Klaus seemingly slow dancing with the doll and Y/N with her hand over her mouth,  hiding a laugh. “Um Hey, baby Hey, a little privacy, guys. We're really hitting it off back here.” He screams as Five throws plastic at him.
“Get out! You can't be here! We’re in the middle of something.”
“Sucking faces?”
“Gross, Klaus!”
“Oh. Well, any luck finding your one-eyed man?” Five whispers back a small ‘no’.
“What's he talkin' about?” Questions Luther.
“Does it matter? It's Klaus.” Five sighs. “What do you want, Luther?”
“Um So, Grace may have had something to do with Dad's death. So I need you to come back to the academy, all right? It's important.”
“Woah, woah, woah.” The boys’ heads turn to Y/N. “First you think I killed Dad and now you think Mom did?” She scoffed. “Unbelievable.”
“What?” Five almost yelled. Why would Y/N of all people be suspected of murdering their Dad?
“It’s important.” Luther repeated, ignoring Y/N.
“"It's important." You have no concept of what's important.”
“Hey! Did I ever tell you guys about the time I waxed my ass with chocolate pudding?” Klaus laughs. “It was so painful.” Y/N looked at her brother, then over to Five who looked out the window, shaking the smile off his face.
“What are you still doing here?”
“Ay, ay, ay - What? I What? I need an excuse to hang out with my family?”
“We're trying to have a serious conversation.” Luther points between him and Five.
“What, and I'm incapable of being serious? Y/N isn’t? Is that what you're saying?”
“Luther's got a point.” Five cuts Klaus off. “Except for the Y/N part.” He adds on when he sees her glare. “You should get out.”
“What?” Klaus looks at the two. “Fine!” He opens the van door, about to close it when another body go out. Klaus sent a smile to Y/N, who sent one back before grabbing his hand and leading him to the corner store across the road.
The two browsed the shelfs, picking up anything they seemed to like. After a couple of minutes, they had a silent conversation with their eyes and fled the store. They laughed as they ran away from a cop, running past the van.
“Hey, bitches!’ Klaus yelled, the cop not to far behind him. Luther and Five watched unimpressed as Y/N made the cops worst fear - clowns - come and circle him. She laughed, waving to the boys and catching up with Klaus, almost getting hit by a car in the process.
“Now I’m started to wonder if that was the wisest decision.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N had agreed to go back to the Umbrella Academy with Luther and Klaus (much to Five’s disappointment) so the Monkey man could stop complaining.
“I mean, do you really think Mom would hurt Dad?” Vanya was the first one to speak after the footage Luther and Allison found ended.
“You haven't been home in a long time, Vanya.” Luther was quickly cut off by Y/N.
“And neither have you.” She crossed her arms, ignoring the glare Luther sent her as he continued talking.
“Maybe you don't know Grace anymore.”
“If he was poisoned, it would have shown in the coroner's report.” Diego spoke.
“Well, I don't need a report to tell me what I can see with my own eyes.”
“Maybe all that low gravity in space messed with your vision.” Number Two pressed a button on the TV. “Look closer. Dad has his monocle. Mom stands up. Monocle's gone.” He chuckles. “Oh, yeah! She wasn't poisoning him. She was taking it. To clean it!”
“Then where is it? No, I've searched the house, including her things. She doesn't have it.” Luther pressed.
“She doesn't have it. That's because I took it from her. After the funeral.” Confessed Diego.
“You've had the monocle this whole time? What the hell, Diego?”
“Give it to me.”
“I threw it away.”
“You what?” Allison scoffs.
“Look, I knew that if you found it on Mom, you'd lose your shit, just like you're doing right now.”
“Diego, you son of a bitch.” Luther moves closer to Diego, the two about to fight.
Vanya stood slightly between the two. “Hey. No. Calm down. Look, I know Dad wasn't exactly an open book. But I do remember one thing he said. Mom was, well, designed to be a caretaker, but also as a protector.”
“What does that mean?”
“She was programmed to intervene if someone's life was in jeopardy.”
“Well, if her hardware is degrading, then - We need to turn her off.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait.” Diego started.
“She's not some vacuum cleaner you can throw in a closet, Luther. That’s our Mom. She can feel things, I've seen it!” Y/N finished. Grace was the only true person that always stayed with Y/N. She was not going to put her down without a fight.
“She just stood there, Y/N, and watched our father die.”
“I'm with Luther.” Allison said. Y/N and Diego both scoffed.
“Surprise, surprise.” “Of course.”
“Shut up.” She snapped back, more to Diego if anything.
Luther and Diego looked to Vanya. “I I don't’-”
“Yeah, she shouldn't get a vote.” Diego says, earning a slap to his arm by Y/N.
“Wh - I was gonna say that I agree with you.” Vanya says to him, smiling slightly at the younger girl at the slap, Y/N sent her a wink back.
Diego nods. “Okay. She should get a vote.” He turns to face Klaus. “What about you, stoner boy? What do you got?”
“Oh, so, what? You need my help now? Oh, "Get out of the van, Klaus!" "Well, welcome back to the van."”
“What van?” Number Four asks.
Luther scoffs. “What's it gonna be, Klaus?”
“I'm with Diego, because screw you! And if Ben were here, he'd agree with me.” “So that's three?”
“Wait. To two.”
“Vote's not final yet. Five's not here and Y/N hasn’t voted. The whole family has to vote. We owe each other that.” Allison says and all heads turn to the said girl. Y/N moved to stand next to Diego, silently putting in her vote.
“No, we should wait.” With that, everyone starts to leave, only leaving Diego and Y/N in the living room. Y/N looked up to see her brother had tears in his eyes and he was shaking. She grabbed his hand.
“Hey, Dee. It’s gonna be okay.” She nodded. “I won’t let Luther do anything to Mom.” He sniffed as he pulled the shorter girl in for a short hug and turned his head, spotting their Mom. Y/N say the look on his face and decided it would be better for Diego to have his time with his Mom. So with a quick smile and a greeting the Grace, she too left the living room.
--
After a while, Y/N found herself back with Diego. The duo talked for a while in his old room before Y/N decided to head to hers for some rest. She walked out of the room, noticing something in the corner of her eye, she slowly turned. It was the masked people. The same ones from the store a few days ago. Her eyes widened at the sound of a gun clocking, flashbacks of getting shot coming back to her head and her leg throbbed.
“Hey, Y/N? What’s-” The words died in Diego’s throat as he peered out the door, only to see his sister at gunpoint. It felt like time stopped before the two masked people started to shoot at them. Diego grabbed Y/N’s arm and pulled her along with him as he ran, grabbing two knifes and throwing them at their heads.
Diego hid behind a wall, pulling Y/N to his chest and his hand covered her mouth when a small noise fell from her mouth. The running started to hurt the throbbing leg, and she was sure that it was only going to feel worse from here. Number Two slowly moved her to the side as the mask people got closer, and when they did, Diego waisted no time in fighting the bunny. The same one who shot Y/N.
“Shoot him!” The bunny said to his partner. With quick thinking, Y/N grabbed Diego’s arm and pulled him to where she was, making an illusion of a wall come up from the floor to buy the pair some time as more gunshots rang out. They ran to the opened hallway, the wall being let down not long after from Y/N’s lack of energy and the intruders were back on their tails. Diego jumped over the railing, landing on the sofa underneath it, he looked back up to his sister who was still standing in the hallway.
“Y/N! Jump!” He didn’t need to say it twice. Y/N jumped when both guns had started going off. She landed on the safety of the couch and Diego quickly pulled her down off it and they scooted behind the coffee table. Y/N took a deep breath as shots hit the photo of her Dad hung on the wall. Her break was cut short as she heard footsteps enter the living room, looking over to Diego who must’ve heard it too when he held his pointer finger to his lips.
He held Y/N close as the intruders sent more shots around the room, covering her body with his own. After what felt like years but was most likely mere seconds, the shots stopped, and grunting filled her now ringing ears. The two stood up to see the blue bunny holding a hand on Allison’s neck, the pink dog nowhere to be seen. Y/N ran up and kicked the man behind the knees, causing him to stumble as her brother punched him. His grip was still tight on Allison, but not long after Luther came to her rescue. Y/N helped Allison up as they all stood behind against the wall.
“Who the hell are these guys?!” Allison asked her siblings, fear coating her voice.
“I-I’ve seen them before, but I don’t know who they are.” Y/N blurted out. She wasn’t going to tell them that they were after Five and her when they went to a store to steal a mannequin.
“You're welcome.” Luther says to Diego.
“I was doing fine.”
“Oh, yeah, you really had them-”
“Ever hear of a rope-a-dope?” More gunshots went off around the room as everyone ducked and held their heads.
“Get out of here now! Go! Luther, go! And take Y/N!” Shouted Diego. It was almost hard to see anything in the room from the fog that swallowed it.
“What? No! Diego!” Y/N grunted as Luther picked her by and slung her over his shoulder. “Let me go!” She pounded closed fists against his back when he took her further and further away from her brother. Her fists stopped banging once Luther put her down, telling her to stay with Allison as he made his way back to the living room.
“Oh shit.” Allison muttered a few seconds later as she spotted the dog masked Lady was not far behind you too. Allison put her hand on Y/N’s shoulder to turn her towards the stairs and lightly pushed her. Y/N got the hint and started to run down the stairs with her sister beside her, dog mask not far behind. They ran into the basement, hiding behind the pool table. Y/N watched as Allison grabbed the pool stick and put it underneath the table, tripping the lady.
Y/N made the room appear to be foggy in only the Woman’s eyes - a beautiful distraction. The Lady stumbled around for a moment before Y/N came up behind her and shoved her Allison’s direction, their plan working so far in their favor. Dog mask started to fight back with the stick from the ground, trying to hit Allison with it - and she does.
“You wanna rumor this psycho?” Diego says, now entering the room. Y/N let out a sigh of comfort knowing he was okay.
“I don't need to, because this bitch just pissed me off.” Allison growled, wiping blood from her mouth and facing the other woman.
“We just want the boy. And now the girl.” She points to Y/N.
“Oh, well, in that case.” Allison runs forward and doges the attacks the other woman his sending to her. She fights with ease, all the work from their dear old dad paying off. Of course she gets hit here and their, but nonetheless she was kicking ass. Well, until she was knocked into a table, that is.
Y/N laughed, not at her sister, but at the Lady. Dog mask looks at the girl, her head tilting to the right slightly, almost asking ‘what is so funny?’. Y/N grabbed the pool stick that Allison had dropped, twirling it in her hand and smirking at the Lady. The two fought, landing hits on each other left and right. Y/N had a small cut on her cheek from the impact of the stick coming in contact with her face, and that’s when Diego stepped in.
The distraction of Two and Eight was enough for Four to spring back and punch dog Lady in the face. Passing a knife to Diego. “Get her.” He took the knife and threw it, landing it perfectly on the back of the dog’s thigh as she ran for the stairs. “Come on.”
The trio had just made it upstairs in time to see Luther laying on the ground. All three of them rushed to help in to help him stand up. “Come on, Luther, get up. Ah, you gotta cut down on that fast food, soldier.”
They all look up to see the Dog woman standing in the opened second floor hallway, where Y/N and Diego where only moments ago. The electricity crackles as the Lady cuts where the chandelier was hanging.
“Out of the way!” Luther yells as he pushes Diego and Allison off of him, then pushed Y/N the way to Diego who catches her before she hits her head off the ground from Luther’s toss. The siblings watch as the light falls on top of Luther, calling out his name as he fell to the ground.
It was silent for a moment before the chandelier starting rattling and clinking. Luther gasps, lifting himself up along with the heavy light. His coat and shirt were stuck to it, causing it to rip off when he fully stood up. Y/N gasped as she saw her brother. His chest almost resembles Pogo’s in a way
“Holy shit.”
Luther moved from the chandelier, stumbling a bit as he locked eyes with Allison. He then looked to the rest of his siblings who were watching him with big eyes, and Luther didn’t look back as he walked away.
“Did you know?” The voice belonged to Vanya, who seemed to appear out of nowhere as she stood by the living room.
Allison shook her head, looking to where Luther had just left. “No.”
“Shit, Mom.” Came from beside Y/N, where she watched Diego leaved unspoken. The girl made her way to her two sister and stood in front of them for a moment, pondering in her head what she wanted to do. With her lack of movement, Allison pulled both girls into an embrace, holding them both tightly. Y/N took a deep breath, her nose filling with the sent of blood, gunpowder, and vanilla.
--
“Who were those people?” Vanya asked from the sofa as Allison got her a wet rag for her bleeding forehead.
“I don't know.” Allison took a seat beside Y/N on the coffee table in front of the other girl. “But we are lucky to be alive. You sure you're okay?” Vanya nodded.
Y/N looked behind her when she heard footsteps, seeing Diego take a shaky breath even from where she’s sitting. “Dee?”
He stopped walking when his eyes landed on Vanya. “What are you still doing here?”
“I'm just trying to help.”
“No, you could've been killed.” He yelled. “Or gotten any of us killed. She is a liability.” Diego turned, not waiting to hear what any of the three had to say.
“Allison? Y/N?”
The two said girls looked at each other before looking back to Vanya. “I think what he's trying to say is that this kind of stuff is dangerous. You're just-”
“Not like you.” Vanya let out a small breath at Allison’s words and stood up, walking out of the room.
“No, Vans, that's not what she - Vanya, wait.” Y/N called after her. She didn’t want Vanya to leave feeling like she wasn’t good enough to be in a fight. Part of her felt guilty, she knew Diego was somewhat right. Vanya could’ve gotten killed with her lack of powers and fighting skills, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t help.
“Let her go.” Y/n stops in her tracks at Diego’s words. “It's for the best.” The girl sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. It’s been such a long night, her head was pounding, ears ringing, cheek and calf hurting. When would she catch a break? Y/N walked over to the couch Diego sat on and rested next to him. He put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his side, pressing a kiss to her temple. “I’m glad you’re okay, Flower.”
Only she wasn’t okay, not in this moment anyway.

A/N: This took an embarrassing amount of time to write and I cant even be bothered to check for spelling errors 🧍🏼‍♀️. I cant write fight scenes so I apologize for that too and for the lack of scenes with Five in this one.

“I survived on scraps. Canned food, cockroaches, anything I could find.” Five chuckles softly. “You know that rumor that Twinkies have an endless shelf life? Well, it’s total bullshit.”
“I cant even imagine.” Says Vanya.
“You do whatever it takes to survive,” He taps his glass. “or you die. So we adapted. Whatever the word threw at us, we found a way to overcome it.”
Y/N leaned forward in her spot so her elbows were rested on her knees. “I’m sorry, we?” Five didn’t reply, instead he looked to Vanya and asked for a stronger drink. Vanya nods, standing up to walk to the kitchen with his glass in hand and pours some alcohol into the cup.
Five takes a sip as his older sister stares at him. “You think I’m crazy.”
“No, it’s just.. it’s a lot to take in.” She stammers. Five didn’t seem to like her answer. “Exactly what don’t you understand?”
“Five.” Y/N sends him a glare.
“Why didn’t you just time travel back?” Five scoffs and sighs. “Gee, wish I thought of that. Time travel is a crapshoot. I went into the ice and never acorn-ed. You think I didn’t try everything to get back to my family?”
Vanya nods in understanding. “If you grew old there, you know, in the apocalypse, how come you still look like a kid?”
Five scoffs. “I told you already.” He walks around Vanya, putting his glass on the counter, grabbing more of the alcohol. “I must have got the equations wrong.”
“I’m pretty sure he’s just an idiot.” Y/N whispered to Vanya who looked at her for a moment before going back to the conversation at hand.
“I mean, Dad did always used to say that… time travel could mess up your mind. Well, maybe that’s what’s happening?”
“This was a mistake.” Five turns around. “You’re too young… too naïve to understand.” He grabs his blazer off the couch and grabs Y/N’s wrist, heading to the door.
“No. Five… Five, wait.” The boy stops walking. “I haven’t seen you in a long time, and I don’t want to lose you again. That’s all. And you know what, it’s getting late and I have lessons early, and I need to sleep, and I’m sure you do, too.” Vanya walks to the couch, laying the blanket that was laid over the back of it onto the black couch. “We’ll talk in the morning again. Okay? I promise. Night.” She then walks off into her bedroom.
“Night.”
“Night, Vans.”
Once Vanya disappeared, Five and Y/N took a seat on the couch. Y/N leaned back so her head was rested on the back of it looking at the ceiling. Her eyes travelled to Five as he took a bag out of his pocket. He opened to bag and took out an eyeball. Y/N didn’t say anything as he examined it, turning it over to read the address on the back.
He suddenly stood up. “Come on, let’s go.” He gave no other explanation as he walked to the door, holding it open as the girl got herself up and followed him. Once they were both out, he closed the door gently and grabbed Y/N’s hand, spatial jumping.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The two ended up outside of a big building. They entered and took the elevator up to the second floor. From there, Five looked around for a doctor, while Y/N took in her new surroundings.
“Uh, can I help you?” Y/N turned her head at the new voice, seeing a doctor had just walked up a desk in front of them.
“I need to know who this belongs to.” Five shows him the eye. “Where did you get that?” “What do you care?” They bickered.
“We, uh, found it at a playground.” Y/N folded her lips in and showed him a tight smile. “Uh, must have just--”
Five clicks his tongue. “popped out” He finishes her sentence. “We wanna return it to its rightful owner.”
“Oh what a thoughtful young couple.” The lady at the other desk not far away says, hands over her heart.
“Yeah. Look up the name for me, will ya?” Five says, ignoring the way his stomach slightly turned when the woman pointed him and Y/N as a couple.
The doctor had wide eyes at his bluntness. “Uh, I'm sorry, but patient records are strictly confidential. That means I can't tell you--”
“Yeah, Doc. We know what it means.” The girl spoke up. She was impatient with the lack of information they were getting. Five wrapped his free hand around Y/N’s upper arm to keep from doing anything
“But I'll tell you what I can do.” The doctor started. “I will take the eye off your hands and return it to the owner. I'm sure he or she will be very grateful, so if I can just--” He reaches over to take it from Five, who pulls his arm back. “Yeah, you're not touching this eye.”
“Now, you listen here, young man-” He grunts when five the collar of his shirt, pulling him to meet at eye level. “No! You listen to me, asshole. I've come a long way for this, through some shit your pea brain couldn't even comprehend, so just give me the information I need, and I'll be on my merry way. And if you call me "young man" one more time, I'm gonna put your head through that damn wall.”
“Okay, Five. Let the man go.” Y/N pried Five’s tight gripped hands off the man as he looked to his coworker and told her to call security. The girl kept a hold of the boy’s hand as they made their way to the elevator. “So..what now?” Y/N asked when the doors closed.
“Now, we need an adult.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
And that’s how Y/N ended up watching Five shove Klaus into his bedroom closet as they heard their sister, Vanya, calling for them from the hallway.
“Five? Y/N? Guys?” Vanya walks in to see Five looking out his window and Y/N sitting at his desk, seemingly to be looking over old notes Five had written. She sighs. “Oh, thank God. I was worried sick about you.”
“Sorry we left without saying goodbye.” Five says, stepping away from the window.
“No, look, I'm the one that should be sorry. Yeah, I was dismissive, and I-I guess I didn't know how to process what you were saying. And I still can't, to be honest.” She explained.
“Maybe you were right to be dismissive.” He scoffs. “Maybe it wasn't real after all. It felt real.” Five walks over to his dresser and pushes a toy train before walking back to Vanya. “Well like you said, the old man did say time travel could contaminate the mind.”
“Then maybe I'm not the right person for you to be talking to. Look, I used to see someone. A therapist. I could give you her information.”
“Thanks, but I think I'm just gonna get some rest. It's been a long time since I've had a good sleep.” He smiled. Y/N stood up from her seat, standing slightly behind him so she was able to rest her chin on one of his shoulders and one hand reached to hold the opposite shoulder. “And I’ll make sure he does.”
“Okay.” Vanya nodded before turning around and walking out of the room. The boy shrugged Y/N off his shoulder and walked to his door, making sure she left. Suddenly, items clatter and Klaus pushes out of the closet. “That's so,” He puts a hand over his heart. “touching, all that stuff about family and Dad and time. Wow!”
“Would you shut up? She'll hear you.” Five whisper shouts to his brother.
“I'm moist.”
“I told you to put on something professional.” Y/N took the time to look at his outfit - which was mostly just a bunch of things put together. Very Klaus style.
“What? This is my nicest outfit.”
Five sighs. “We'll raid the old man's closet.”
“As long as I get paid.” The group starts to walk out of Five’s room and towards Reggie’s room. “When the job is done.”
“Okay, but just so we're clear on the finer details, I just gotta go into this place and pretend to be your dear old dad, correct?”
“Yeah. Something like that.”
“Who is Y/N?” He asks, smirk on his lips.
“Well, the doctor already thinks we’re a couple?” She said it like a question, almost wondering if she should’ve said it in the first place. Klaus gasps, saying that it’s a perfect role for her.
“What's our cover story?”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“I mean, was I really young when I had you? Like, 16? Like, young and - terribly misguided? Your mother, that slut. Whoever she was. We met at the Disco.” He chuckles. “Okay? Remember that.” He snaps his fingers. “Oh, my God, the sex was amazing.”
“What a disturbing glimpse into that thing you call a brain.’ Five shakes his head, grabbing Y/N’s arm and bringing her along with him.
“Don't make me put you in time-out!”
“Like I said to your son and girlfriend earlier, any information about the prosthetics we build is strictly confidential. Without the client's consent, I simply can't help you.” The doctor, Lance, explained.
“Well, we can't get consent if you don't give us a name.” Five bit back from his position. He was standing behind Y/N’s chair that she was seated legs folded on, his hands griping the top of the seat.
“Well, that's not my problem. Sorry. Now, there's really nothing more I can do, so-”
“And what about my consent?” “Excuse me?”
“Who gave you permission,” Klaus starts to fake cry. “to lay your hands on my son and his girlfriend?”
“What?” They all exclaimed. “You heard me.”
“I didn't touch your son or his girlfriend.”
Klaus leans from his seat. “Oh, really? Well, then how did he get that swollen lip, then? And why is her cheek cut?”
“He doesn't have a swollen-” He’s cut off when Five grunts from the impact of Klaus’ palm attaching to his cheek. The doctor then watches as the older man makes his way to the girl, her eyes wide as Klaus repats his action, but this time his ring catching the skin of her cheek. Causing a cut, not large enough to really cause damage, but big enough that the cut started to bleed quickly.
Klaus turns to the doctor with a sharp inhale. “I want it. Name, please. Now.”
“You're crazy.” Lance breaths out, his eyes catching Five as he tilts Y/N’s chin to look at him and he inspects the cut. Lance looks back at Klaus as he chuckles. “You got no idea. "Peace on Earth." That's so sweet.” He smashes the globe over his head with a groan. “God, that hurt!”
“I'm calling secur- What are you doing?” The bleeding man takes the phone from his hand. “There's been an assault in Mr. Big's office, and we need security, now. Schnell!” The receiver clatters. “Now, here's what's gonna happen, Grant.”
“It's Lance.”
“In about 60 seconds, two security guards are gonna burst through that door, and they're gonna see a whole lot of blood, and they're gonna wonder, "What the hell happened?" And we're gonna tell them that you beat the shit out of us.” He sobs dramatically. “You're gonna do great in prison, Grant. Trust me, I've been there. Little piece of chicken like you. Oh, my God, you're gonna get passed around like a..” Klaus moves his hips in circles. “you're just You're gonna do great. That's all I'm saying.”
“Jesus, you are a real sick bastard.”
“Thank you.” He spits out glass. Five wore a victory smirk and Y/N stood beside him with her arms crossed, a proud smile on her face as more blood fell from the cut. The sight made her look like a badass.
The trio followed Lance out to cubbies as he searched for a folder. He opened it and read a few lines before speaking. “Oh, that's strange.”
“What?”
“Uh, the eye. It hasn't been purchased by a client yet.” Klaus jumps from the cabinet he was sitting on and moves to look over the doc’s shoulder. “What? What do you mean?”
“Well, uh, our logs say that the eye with that serial number. This can't be right. It hasn't even been manufactured yet. Where did you get that eye?”
“Well, this is not good.” Says Five as they all walked out of the building.
“I was pretty good, though, right? "Yeah. What about my consent, bitch?"” Klaus chuckles.
“Klaus, it doesn't matter.”
“What? What? What's the big deal with this eye, anyway?”
“There is someone out there who's going to lose an eye in the next seven days. They're gonna bring about the end of life on this Earth as we know it.” Five explains, but Klaus wasn’t really paying attention.
“Yeah, can I get that 20 bucks, like, now, or what?”
“Your 20 bucks?”
“Yeah, my 20 bucks.”
“The apocalypse is coming, and all you can think about is getting high?”
“Oh my God” Mumbles Y/N, head titled back to look at the sky. She could feel a headache coming on from the two.
“Well, I'm also quite hungry. Tummy's a-rumblin'.” Klaus imitates groaning.
“You're useless. You're all useless!” Five walks off to the set of stairs in front of them.
“Excuse you, Five. I’ve let you drag me around since you got back and now you’re calling me useless? What the hell?” Y/N wasn’t overly mad, she got that this must be stressful for him. But she still was upset that he thought she was useless. Afterall, that’s what her Dad would say after everyone had grown up and adapted to their powers more.
Klaus followed Five to the stairs. “Oh, come on. You need to lighten up, old man. Hey, you know, I've just now realized why you're so uptight. You must be horny as hell!” He lets out a laugh. “All those years by yourself. It's gotta screw with your head, being alone.”
“Well I wasn't alone.” At that note, Y/N sat down on the other side of Klaus, wanting to hear his story.
“Oh? Pray tell.”
“Her name was Delores. We were together for over 30 years.”
“Wow, didn’t think little ol’ Five would end up with someone for more then a day or two.” Y/N gasped, poking fun at the boy.
“Ha. Ha, very funny, Y/N.” Five shook his head.
“Thirty years? Oh, wow! God, the longest I've been with someone was I don't know, three weeks. And that's only because I was so tired of looking for a place to sleep.” Five grabbed Y/N’s hand from behind Klaus and spatial jumped them to a nearby Taxi. “Don't stop. Just keep going.” As they drove past Klaus, Five waved.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, what about my money?”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
It was night-time and raining when the two got to their destination. A store. A closed store. Y/N followed Five as he calmly walked to the front doors, his warm hand grabbing her cold one as he spatial jumped inside.
“Five? What’re we doin’ here?” Questioned Y/N once Five dropped her hand. She was tired from all the events of today and her cheek started to hurt. It stopped bleeding, but she would’ve liked to actually clean it up. Five didn’t answer and instead started to walk down one of the isles.
The girl followed once again, passing a sign that said ‘Gimbel Brothers’. Her eyes scanned the place for anything, noticing the stack of flashlights on her left, she picked one up and threw it to Five. He caught it with ease and flicked it on, Y/N did the same.
They walked down more isles, the rain hitting the doors from the outside was the only noise except for their shoes clicking against the floor. Y/N almost ran into Five when he abruptly stopped walking, mouth turned into a smile and his flashlight pointed at the mannequin ahead of him.
The boy slowly continues down the isle that leads to the said mannequin, and he sighs. “Delores.” Upon hearing the name, Y/N also points her flashlight to where his is. A brown wig with a yellow hat sat on top of the mannequin’s head. A white and black dotted shirt covering the chest and blue jeans. “It's good to see you. I've missed you obviously. Well, I.. It's been a rough couple of days.”
Y/N said nothing as she watched Five talk to it. Of course she thought it was hella weird that Five was talking to an unliving thing, but, it wasn’t the weirdest thing she has ever seen. Not when you grow up with a bunch of boys. As Five was having his moment, Y/N noticed movement from in between the mannequin’s.
“Hey, uh, Five? Not to ruin your moment or whatever, but I think theirs someone else here.”
“What-” Gunshots had rung out towards the two before Five could properly finish what he was saying. “No!” He pulled Y/N’s arm down with him as he reached the floor, looking for shelter over the bullets. They crawled to the nearest clothing rack, watching as the plastic chest and head of the doll shot off the legs.
“Shit, it’s them.”
“Them? Who’s them!?” Five, like an idiot, moves out to grab the plastic doll and bring it over to where Y/N was still hiding. He laid it down carefully.
“I’ll be back for you.” He said to it. “Y/N, stay here.”
“No- No! I’m not babysitting your plastic pet while theirs people shooting at us!” Y/N shot back with a glare. She didn’t feel like getting shot or killed because she had to watch Five’s doll.
“Please?” Something about the way his eyes formed into puppy dog eyes and his voice shook made Y/N huff out a breath. “Fuck, fine.” And with that, he jumped away.
The gunshots increased as Five moved around the store. Y/N almost didn’t see the shoes in front of her until she looked up to see a man with a blue bunny mask on, gun pointed at her head.
She gulped. “Would you believe me if I said I was on a late night shift and was about to leave?” Blue bunny didn’t say anything and instead, moved to shoot the gun. Before he could, Y/N sent a kick to his knee and used her powers to create fog, grabbing the doll and running away. The man managed to get a slight grip back as this time he did shoot, the bullet landing on Y/N’s right calf.
Ignoring the pain, she ran until she clashed into Five. Almost falling to the floor before Five caught her by the hand and pulled her along. He had a bag in his other hand and Y/N handed him the plastic and watched as he (carefully) shoved it in, putting his arms through the straps so it settled on his back.
The two maneuvered their way through the store, Y/N falling behind slightly from her calf, the blood already seeping out far to quickly. Five tried to spatial jump, but couldn’t as he was too tired from all the running. “Shit, come on!” He made a quick choice to run for the shelf, jumping over it.
Y/N hissed as she ran as quick as she could and over the same shelf, it soon being shot down. The impact of the bullets, the landing and her leg made her stumble once she got over. Staying on her hands and knees on the dirty floor for mere seconds before Five slung her arm over his shoulder. The masked people had both guns pointed at the kids until sirens started to wail outside the store.
They look to the windows and then back, the two where seemingly gone. They spoke before leaving, unknowing that the kids where hidden behind the main counter. Five held his doll tight with his free arm, the other one still wrapped around Y/N. The said girl was painfully tired now, her head lolling to lay on Five’s shoulder as her eyes tried to fight against her.
Five shrugged his shoulder. “Y/N, stay awake, okay? I’m gonna help you, alright? Just-just stay awake.” He sounded scared. He would never admit it, but he was. Five Hargreeves was scared. Scared for the apocalypse, that he won’t be able to stop it. Scared that the only person who has truly listened to him since he got back could be dying on his side right now.
Yeah. He was very scared.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Five had his arm slung over Y/N’s waist on their way back to their home. Y/N had fought to keep her eyes open from the blood loss, and surprisingly did the whole way back.
“Five? Y/N? What the hell happened to you?” Y/N perked up at the sound of her name. In front of her stood Allison and Luther, confused and shock written all over their faces. They both took a moment to examine the two kids. Blood covering parts of their clothing and droopy eyes.
“Are you okay? Can we help?” Luther asked. His eyes drifted from Fives to Y/Ns as he saw the blood dripping from her leg. “What happened to Y/N?”
“Oh my God, Y/N!” Allison slightly yelled, her words bounced off Y/N’s brain loudly and she winced, scrunching her face is discomfort.
Luther reached his hand out to grab Y/N, but Five was quicker. His hand holding a firm grasp on Luther’s wrist and pulling the girl closer to him. “There's nothing you can do. There's nothing any of you can do.”

On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.
He got eight of them.
At first glance, Y/N would look like your average teenage girl. The assumption wouldn’t be wrong if it wasn’t for the un-natural powers she was born with, and the fact that she couldn’t age like the rest of her siblings.
Unlike the said siblings, Y/N didn’t leave the mansion they all grew up in. Of course, she wasn’t a big fan of living with her father even after everyone left. He never gave her break, still always making her work her ass off. Reginald ran multiple tests on Y/N, explaining her never aging body.
But all the training, tests and abuse ended when the old man had died. Y/N was sitting in her room reading a book when Pogo walked in, giving her the news and then swiftly leaving. Y/N couldn’t tell what she was feeling. He was a terrible person, but he also raised her and put a roof over her head along with food. Still a dick tho. She was conflicted.
By the time night came around there was only one thought in her mind. Her siblings would be coming home tomorrow. All of them. Except one.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“Vanya?” Allison spoke as her sister entered the house. “You're actually here.” She chuckles softly.
“Hey, Allison.” Vanya responds with a small smile.
“Hey, sis.” The girls hug as another family member comes into the room.
“Ah. What is she doing here? You don't belong here. Not after what you did.” Diego scoffs out.
“You're seriously gonna do this today?” Allison crosses her arms, moving to face her brother.
“Yeah, Dee. You’re gonna act like this, on this dreadful day.” Y/N would have sarcasm dripping from her lips if it could. The three siblings turned to the staircase, where Y/N was standing with one hand on her hip, the other hand waving. A small smile plastered on her lips.
“Oh my god.” Was all Diego spoke, his jaw slightly lowered in shock. Diego and Y/N we’re the closest of the bunch. Their personality’s clashed in a beautiful way. Despite not being blood related, they did see each other as real siblings.
After a short pause, the man walked up the stairs and wrapped his sister in a hug, slightly lifting her feet off the ground. “Hey, Flower” his voice was just above a whisper.
“Hi, Dee.” She hugged him back with just as much force before letting go. She walked down the stairs to greet her other siblings. “Hello, Vans, Allison.” They wrapped her in a hug, softer then Diego had, and swiftly let go.
Vanya and Y/N we’re close, she was the one of the only ones who came back once and a while to check on her, before she seemingly disappeared from the world and didn’t show up. As for Allison, the girls didn’t get along that much when they were younger, but they still had a good sisterly bond.
Allison looks back at Diego after the hug, continuing their brawl from before. “Way to dress for the occasion by the way.”
The male scoffed, back in his attitude. “At least I'm wearing black.” He then walked off toward the other side of the house, leaving the three sisters to themselves.
“You know what? I... Maybe he's right.” Vanya stutters. “And I shouldn't...”
“Forget about him.” Allison stops Vanya from continuing her sentence. “I'm glad you're here.” She says before moving her pointer finger to Y/N and back to herself. “We’re glad you’re here”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Y/N had left her siblings to do their own exploring before the funeral started as she sat in the kitchen on a stool and rested her elbows on the table in front of her. She thought back to what Diego had said earlier about Allison’s clothing, making her glance down at her own. She, of course, couldn’t fit in other clothes except for her Umbrella Academy uniform, the usual white shirt and burgundy tie, plaid skirt and blouse.
The girl sighed. It’s not like her father would’ve taken her on a shopping spree anyway. Lost in her thoughts, she was pulled out when she heard screaming from upstairs. She carefully got down off the stool with furrowed eyebrows and made her way to the commotion.
“-ut of his chair.” Was heard when she noticed Luther standing in front of what use to now be Reginald’s office.
“Oh, wow, Luther!” Came another voice from inside the office. “Wow, you really, uh.. You really filled out over the years, huh?” Hmm, must be Klaus. Y/N thought as she stalks closer to the door.
“Klaus.” Bingo.
“Save the lecture. I was already leaving.” Klaus gets up from the desk he was standing behind and starts to head over to the door. “You guys can talk amongst yourselves.” He chuckles softly.
As Klaus was walking towards the door, Luther put his hand on the side of his arm. “Drop it.”
“Ex-squeeze me?”
“Do it. Now.”
The druggie stared at Luther before ripping his arm out of his grasp and walked back over to the desk. “All right. All right.” He shuffled through his pockets, pulling things out. “It's just an advance on our inheritance! That's all it is. No need to get your little panties in a bunch.” As he finishes, he finally walks to the door to leave.
“You took something, didn’t you?” Klaus jumps and turns around, seeing Y/N leaning against the wall with a small smirk on her face.
“J-Jesus, Y/N! How long have you been standing there?” He questions, walking to her and pulling her in for a hug, rocking back and forth for a moment before letting go.
“Oh, just long enough to see Luther get his ‘little panties in a bunch’” She quoted him. The man let out a small laugh as the two started to walk down the hall. Klaus pulled out a box he had hidden underneath his shirt and kissed the top of it.
“You’re not gonna tell Luther, are you?”
“Please, his brain is probably to mushed from space to even comprehend what anyone is trying to say unless it’s about Dad.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
After a while, most of the siblings where sat in the living room of the large home. Y/N had sat down next to Vanya who was looking around anxiously - trying to avoid eye contact. Y/N softly grabbed her hand with her own and when Vanya turned to look at Y/N, she gave her a small smile.
“Um...” Luther started, standing up. Klaus could be heard drink pouring behind them. “I guess we should get this started. So, I figured we could have a sort of memorial service in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, just at Dad's favorite spot.”
“Dad had a favorite spot?” Questioned Allison.
“You know, under the oak tree.” Luther answered rather quickly. “We used to sit out there all the time. None of you ever did that?”
“None of us were good enough for him.” Number eight mumbled, loud enough for Vanya to hear.
“Will there be refreshments?” Klaus breaks the uncomfortable mood. “Tea? Scones? Cucumber sandwiches are always a winner.”
“What? No. And put that out.” Luther complains about the cigarette Klaus has in his mouth. “Dad didn't allow smoking in here.”
“Is that my skirt?”
“What?” He looks down. “Oh, yeah, this. I found it in your room. It's a little dated, I know, but it's very breathey on the bits.” He does a small bow.
“Listen up. Still some important things that we need to discuss, all right?”
“Like what?” Speaks Diego.
“Like the way he died.”
“And here we go.”
Vanya decides to speak up. “I don't understand. I thought they said it was a heart attack.”
“Yeah, according to the coroner.” Luther confirms.
“Well, wouldn't they know?” Continues Vanya.
“Theoretically.”
“Theoretically?”
“I'm just saying, at the very least, something happened. The last time that I talked to Dad, he sounded strange.”
Klaus gurgles. “Oh, quelle surprise!”
“The last time you also talked to Dad, you were all the way up on the moon.” Y/N cut in, earning a smirk from Diego.
“Strange how?” Allison asks.
“He sounded on edge. Told me I should be careful who to trust.” He tells her.
“Luther, he was a paranoid, bitter old man who was starting to lose what was left of his marbles.” Diego stands up.
“No. He must have known something was going to happen.” Luther looks at Klaus who was now sitting next to Y/N. “Look, I know you don't like to do it, but I need you to talk to Dad.”
Klaus scoffs. “I can't just call Dad in the afterlife and be like, "Dad, could you just... stop playing tennis with Hitler for a moment and take a quick call?"”
Luther stared at him. “Since when? That's your thing.”
“I'm not in the right... frame of mind.”
“You're high?” Allison says.
He laughed. “Yeah! Yeah! I mean, how are you not, listening to this nonsense?” Y/N nodded her head slowly, he had a point.
“Well, sober up, this is important.” Luther demands. “Then there's the issue of the missing monocle.”
“Who gives a shit about a stupid monocle?” Diego asks.
“Exactly. It's worthless. So whoever took it, I think it was personal. Someone close to him. Someone with a grudge.” Luther spills out, moving his eyes to look at Y/N before moving back to face Diego.
Klaus squints his eyes. “Where are you going with this?”
“Oh, isn't it obvious, Klaus?” Diego starts. “He thinks one of us killed Dad. And his main suspect is Y/N.”
“You do?”
“How could you think that?”
“What the hell, Luther!”
“Great job, Luther. Way to lead.”
“That's not what I'm saying.” He defended himself.
“You're crazy, man. You're crazy.”
He continued. “I've not finished.” Most people had gotten up and walked away.
“Sorry, I'm just gonna go murder Mom. Be right back.” Says Klaus taking his leave.
“That's not what I was saying.”
“Really Luther? You thought I killed Dad?” Y/N stood from her sitting position and moved to stand in front of Luther. He may have been bigger and taller, but Y/N was scarier.
“I-I just- you were the only one here when he died.” He stuttered out.
Y/N scoffed. “You think I wanted to stay here? I never got a choice!” She yelled as Luther took a step back. “Y’know, I wish I had killed the old man, maybe then I would’ve been able to live and be not stuck here in my 13-year-old body for the rest of my life!” Y/N breathed heavily as she used her power to create a smoke allusion and disappear off to her room. Her favourite way of leaving a conversation.
The girl placed her hands on each side of her head and paced back and forth. She really did want to grow up and experience life, maybe even have a family some day. But because of their father, it was ripped away from her. She would never forgive him for such problems.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
“Our world is changing. Has changed. There are some among us gifted with abilities far beyond the ordinary. I have adopted seven such children. I give you the inaugural class of the Umbrella Academy.”
“Mr. Hargreeves! Mr. Hargreeves. Channel 9 News. What happened to their parents?”
“They were suitably compensated.”
“Are you concerned about the welfare of the children?”
“Of course. As I am for the fate of the world.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
As Y/N calmed down, laying on her bed facing the ceiling, “I Think We're Alone Now" by Tiffany started playing. She sat up, eyebrows raised in confusion as she got off the bed. Her foot subconsciously moving up and down to the best of the music. She slowly started to move her body, feeling herself become free for a moment.
Y/N -like the other people in the house- started to dance. It was almost a suspenseful moment. A moment in time that would soon be forgotten as thunder rumbles, music stops and glass shatters. Y/N stopped what she was doing and ran downstairs, through the door that was open to see her siblings standing. Across from them was a blue portal.
The wind howling was what filled Y/N’s ears before Vanya questioned, “What is it?”
“Don't get too close!” Allison says, reaching for Y/N’s arm to move her back as she moved slightly closer to the portal.
“Yeah, no shit.” Yells Diego.
“Hey, it looks like some sort of temporal anomaly.” Y/N yells back, earning some questionable glances.
“Either that or a miniature black hole. One of the two.”
“Pretty big difference there, Paul Bunyan.”
Suddenly, Klaus yells, “Out of the way!” As he throws a fire extinguisher into the portal.
Allison, who still has a small grip on Y/N, turns around to look at Klaus. “What is that gonna do?”
“I don't know. Do you have a better idea?”
electricity crackles from the blue hole again. It was getting bigger.
Luther makes his way to the front of the group. “Everybody get behind me.”
Diego follows his footsteps. “Yeah, get behind us.” Y/N rolls her eyes.
“I vote for running, c'mon!”
electricity crackles once again before screams are heard and the thunder fades. It was silent as someone fell from the portal and it disappeared. The person lays on the ground for a moment before standing up. “Does anyone else see little Number Five, or is that just me?”
And it wasn’t just him. Y/N moved around to see what Klaus exclaimed. Five Hargreeves, standing a few feet away from her in an oversized suit, still looking the same as he was 17 years ago.
“Shit.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
The group sat at the table in the kitchen where Y/N was beforehand as they watched Five walk around to grab the bread.
“What’s the date. The exact date.” He asks, starting to make a sandwich.
“The 24th.” Replied Vanya.
“Of what?”
“March.”
“Good.” He continues to make his snack, ignoring the glances from his siblings.
“So, are we gonna talk about what just happened?” Silence. Luther stands up. “It's been 17 years.”
Five moves to stand in front of his brother. “It's been a lot longer than that.” He blinks to the other side of the room to grab the marshmallows.
“I haven't missed that.” Luther mutters.
“Where'd you go?”
“The future. It's shit, by the way.”
“Called it.” Cheers Klaus.
“I should've listened to the old man. You know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice.” He explains, opening the fridge to grab the peanut butter.
“No, we didn’t know, you prick.” Y/N stares at Five, him being back was something totally unexpected it threw her off. Five and her didn’t always get along, sure the pair were friends but Five always seemed like he was too good for her. It pissed Y/N off no doubt.
Without looking up, Five replies, “Nice to see you too, Y/N.” After a moment pause, he does look up and straight to Klaus. “Nice dress.”
“Oh, well, danke!”
“Wait, how did you get back?”
“In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time.” Five lays out.
“That makes no sense.”
“Well, it would if you were smarter.” Diego springs up to lunge at Five, but his held back by Luther.
“How long were you there?”
“Forty-five years. Give or take.” Everyone’s eyes widen.
“So what are you saying? That you're 58?” Luther asks.
“No, my consciousness is 58.” Five sarcasticly smiles. “Apparently, my body is now 13 again. And so is Y/N’s it appears.” He finishes as he makes eye contact with the said girl.
“Wait, how does that even work?” More questions were thrown at him.
“Delores kept saying the equations were off. Eh.” He takes a bite of his sandwich. “Bet she's laughing now.”
“Delores?” Vanya mentions.
Five hums, picking up a need paper. “Guess I missed the funeral.”
“How'd you know about that?” Luther once again asks.
“Jesus, Luther. What part of the future do you not understand?” Y/N was getting a bit frustrated and confused. First her brother suggested that she killed their dad and now the boy she may or may not have had a slight crush on was back.
Wait what?
“Heart failure, huh?”
“Yeah.” “No.”
Five hums once again and clicks his tongue “Nice to see nothing's changed.”
“Uh, that's it? That's all you have to say?” Allison speaks up, turning around to face where Five had began walking.
“What else is there to say? The circle of life.” Five yells back as he walks away.
“That was interesting.”
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Thunder rumbles as the siblings piled out into the courtyard, all holding umbrellas expect for Diego and Luther. Y/N had her classic Academy umbrella, black with burgundy trimming and their logo printed on the left side. She stood between Klaus and Five.
“Did something happen?” Grace asks her kids, who strangely glance at her.
“Dad died. Remember?”
“Oh. Yes, of course.”
“Is Mom okay?” Allison asks to no one in particular.
“Yeah, yeah, she's fine. She just needs to rest. You know, recharge.” Diego answers for everyone.
“Whenever you're ready, dear boy.” Says Pogo as Luther opens the urn and tilts it down to flow Regionals ashes on the ground.
“Probably would have been better with some wind.” He awkwardly says.
“Does anyone wish to speak?” It stays silent. “Very well. In all regards, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made me what I am today. For that alone, I shall forever be in his debt He was my master...and my friend, and I shall miss him very much. He leaves behind a complicated legacy...”
“He was a monster.” Cuts in Diego. Klaus lets out a laugh. “He was a bad person and a worse father. The world's better off without him.”
“Diego.” Warns Allison.
“My name is Number Two. You know why?Because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names. He had Mom do it.”
Grace, who was oblivious to the situation asks, “Would anyone like something to eat?”
“No, it's okay, Mom.” Vanya replies.
“Oh, okay.”
Diego steps forward. “Look, you wanna pay your respects? Go ahead. But at least be honest about the kind of man he was.” He speaks out.
“You should stop talking now.” Luther also warns.
“No, I think Diego should keep going.” Y/N says back. As much as she rather not watch her siblings fight, she was also just bored.
“Y/N—”
“Dad was a shitty person.” She cuts Luther off. Five looks at her from the side, seeing her face was mutual and almost hard. He mentally noted to ask her about it later.
“Y/N, that’s enough.”
“She’s right. You wouldn’t know, Luther. You’re still defending him? After everything he did to you? Everything he did to Y/N? He had to ship you a million miles away. That's how much he couldn't stand the sight of you!” Diego ranted on, pushing at Luther’s chest, causing the boys to get into a fist fight.
Everyone took steps back when they got a bit to close for comfort. Pogo could be heard yelling at them to stop and Klaus put his arm in front of Five and Y/N, to which Five swatted away.
He turned to Y/N. “What is Diego talking about? What did he do to you?” Y/N turned her head away from the scene, an unreadable expression on her face.
She shrugged. “Is now really a good time to ask?” She motions to the brawl. Five gives her a soft nudge with his elbow on her side. Y/N sighs. “Just some tests, y’know. Lab rat kinda situation.” Five stared at her. In all the time he was gone, he didn’t imagine their father would use one of the kids for projects, but then again he was gone for so long.
Turning back to the scene, grunts and screams could be heard from all the people. Pleas of ‘stop it’ and ‘hit him/me’ we’re all muttered around. Pogo had soon left, looking tired of all the nonsense.
“We don't have time for this.” Five says, walking away and going back inside the house. Y/N was about to follow him when she heard a loud of what seemed like glass. She turned around seeing Ben’s statue laying in the ground.
“And there goes Ben's statue.” Allison says, also turning to leave.
Diego pulls out a knife. “Diego, no!” Shouts Vanya.
Luther gasps and pants as a knife cuts through his sleeve. He hold his arm for a few moments before stumbling inside.
Vanya walks up to Diego. “You never know when to stop, do you?”
“You got enough material for your sequel yet?”
“He was my father, too.”
Y/N didn’t stay much longer to see the rest of what was happening, instead, she like the rest made her way through the back door. Once inside she closed her umbrella and grabbed a small green blanket that was laying on the arm of a couch. She wrapped it around herself, finding the comfort in the material.
Five was looking through multiple pantries and cupboards for something while Klaus and Y/N sat at the table once again. Klaus was hugging a guitar, his fingers softly running over the cords. Meanwhile Y/N wrapped her blanket tighter over her frame.
Allison had walked in the room, setting down her jacket and stalked towards the table. “Where’s Vanya?”
“Oh, she's gone.” Answers Klaus.
“That's unfortunate.”
“Yeah.” Allison agrees, assuming Five was talking about the absence of his sister.
“An entire square block. Forty-two bedrooms, 19 bathrooms, but no, not a single drop of coffee.” He rants.
“Dad hated caffeine.”
“Well, he hated children, too, and he had plenty of us.” Klaus laughs, getting Y/N to laugh with him.
After a pause, Five speaks. “I'm taking the car.”
“Where are you going?” Klaus was now sitting up in his seat, interested in what the youngster was up too.
Five stared at him. “To get a decent cup of coffee.”
“Do you even know how to drive?” Allison says.
“Probably not.” Y/N mutters, although Klaus heard it and snickered.
Five also must’ve heard it as he walked to her with a smug face and grabbed her hand and pulled. Making her stand up as the blanket slowly fell the the floor. “I know how to do everything.” He says as he spatial jumps.
The duo lands in the car just outside the academy. Five in the drivers seat and Y/N in the passenger.
“Oh brother, what do I owe the pleasure of being dragged along for?” Asks a sarcastic Y/N. She hears Five scoff from beside her as she rolls down the window.
“First, don’t ever call me brother. And second, you’re the only person I can stand right now. Well expect Vanya.” Five explains as his hands grip the steering wheel slightly.
Y/N suppresses a laugh, shaking her head jokingly as she rests her head on the side of the door. The cold rain drops making their way onto her forehead but she didn’t mind, it felt refreshing. From the corner of her eye she could see Five taking curious glances at her.
“Did Dad really use you as a lab rat?.” He quietly asks as if he was questioning if he should’ve asked or not.
“Yeah.” with her head still placed on the door, Y/N’s eyes travel to the outdoors. She watches with E/C orbs as the city lights fly past due to the car speed. The sight was so pretty, just to see all the colours swishing together was almost like a fever dream.
The pair arrived at Griddy’s Doughnuts. Talk about fever dreams.
Five and Y/N walk in, taking a seat at the counter. Once sat, Five rings the bell and sighs, he exhales deeply. dishes could be heard clattering from the back as a man comes to sit next to Five.
Soon enough, the waitress comes out from the back room and sighs. “Sorry, sink was clogged. She chuckles. She seemed to be well into her 50’s. “So, what'll it be?”
“Uh, give me a chocolate éclair.” The man from before asks.
“Mm-hmm. Sure.” She moves to look at Y/N and Five with a smile. “Can I get the kids a glass of milk or something?”
Number Five scoffs. “The kid wants coffee. Black.” He lightly nudges Y/N, a way of telling her to speak.
“Alright damn.” She quietly says mostly to herself. “Uh, I’ll just have a vanilla milkshake, please.”
“Cute kids.” The waitress chuckled uncomfortably as Five gives her a huge sarcastic smile. She walks away.
Yep. I’d be uncomfortable too if I saw that.
“Don't remember this place being such a shithole. I used to come here as a kid. Used to sneak out with my brothers and sisters and eat doughnuts till we puked.” Five days to the man who looks at him flabbergasted. Of course, Five still looked like a kid, so saying that he use to come here threw the guy off. “Simpler times, huh?”
“Eh. I suppose.”
Theirs a pause before the waitress clears her throat. “Here.” She says, placing down the milkshake and coffee before turning back around to grab the man’s order and give it to him.
“I got theirs” The man says, handing over some cash.
“Thanks.” Both Five and Y/N say at her same time, causing them to glance at one another.
There’s a other pause as Five turns back to the man, eyeing his uniform logo. “You must know your way around the city.”
“I hope so. I've been driving it for 20 years.”
“Good. I need an address.” The man writes something on a napkin and hands it to Five, who neatly tucks it away in the pocket of his blazer.
“What was that about?” Asks Y/N, brining the straw of the milkshake to her mouth and taking a sip.
“Nothing important.” Five lifts his mug at the same time as the bell chimes, signalling that someone had walked in. “Hmm that was fast. I thought I'd have more time before they found me.”
Y/N turned her head in her seat, only to witness a bunch of men clad with guns, pointed at Five and her.
“Okay.” One of the men said. “So let's all be professional about this, yeah? On your feet and come with us. They want to talk.”
“I've got nothing to say.”
“It doesn't have to go this way. You think I want to shoot a kid? Two kids? Go home with that on my conscience?”
“Well, I wouldn't worry about that. You won't be going home.” Five picks up the butterknife from beside him and spatial jumps behind the man, stabbing him.
Gunfires go off as all the men are shooting at anything they see that moves. Y/N quickly picks up her milkshake glass, smashing it over the closes man to her head. The shake drips down his black hair and his face as he shoots his gun in the direction it came from.
Y/N jumps over the counter when she sees Five fighting some of the guys. Y/N looks to the entry of the counter, seeing a guy standing with his back to her, she makes an illusion of herself standing beside him. The man jumps, shooting at the illusion as the real Y/N sneaks up behind him and snaps his neck.
She was about to run again when a blue portal surrounded her. Five had grabbed her waist and jumped with her onto a table. He was laying on his side and Y/N was sitting with one leg over the other, looking innocent as ever. “Hey, assholes!” He then jumped the both of them again.
The men shot at the spot the kids were at, stopping when they noticed them gone. Five knocked on the door, getting another man to shoot. Y/N sat on the counter she was just behind, swinging her feet and she watched a guy squirm. An illusion of spiders crawling on him was enough for him to drop his gun and doin in circles trying to swat them off.
The duo fought the men until there was none left standing. They both stood in the middle of the room, panting from the mayhem. The lights flickered as Five walked forward and snatched his tie off one of the mens neck, retying it around his own.
Y/N looked around when she heard grunting, noticing a man still alive on the floor not to far from her. She walked towards him, hands closed together behind her back and once she reached him, she got on one of her knees.
“Do you need help, mister?” She asked in the softest voice she could, trying not to laugh as the adrenaline fully kicked in. The man nodded reaching his hand up for her. “I’m going to help you, yeah?” She nodded, scooting closer to the man as she grabbed his face in her hands and twisted his neck, killing him off.
She stood up with a satisfied smile, brushing off her skirt and turning around to face Five.
“What?”
He shrugged with a small smirk on his face as he walked to the counter, rolling the sleeve of his blazer up and grabbing a sharp knife. He cut into his arm, wincing as he did so. Once it was cut, Five reached into his arm and dug, pulling out a small device that was beeping.
Five grabbed Y/N’s hand and swiftly walked to the door, holding it open for her as she walked out. The sky was dark and the air was chilly. The duo left the shop, Five dropped the device — which they discovered was a tracker — into the water drain. He fixed his tie with his free hand, leading them both away from the scene.
:・゚✧:・.☽˚。・゚✧:・.:
Five and Y/N had safely made it to Vanya’s apartment. Well, safely considering no one got hurt when Five made them climb up the window to get into the living space.
Y/N had never been to Vanya’s, so she took the time to carefully look around the place. It was dull, but it felt like Vanya. Five curiously watched as the girl dragged her hand along the wallpaper.
“You been here before?” Y/N stopped walking and turned around to face the voice.
She shook her head. “No. Dad never let me leave the house, even after everyone else did. Vanya visited tho.” She waltzed back to the living area and sat on the couch next to Five who was sitting in a chair. She could see his face from the corner of her eyes.
He was about to speak when a lock clicks interrupts him. He turns off the lap beside him as the hinges of the door creak. Vanya walks in as Five turns the lamp back on. “Jesus!”
“You should have locks on your windows.”
“I live on the second floor.” She puts her keys down.
“Rapists can climb.”
“You are so weird.” Vanya closes the door, taking off her jacket and sitting on the couch beside you. “Is that blood?” She looks at Five’s arm.
Five glances at the cut. “It's nothing.”
“Why are you here?”
Five sighs. “I've decided you and Y/N are the only ones I can trust.” Y/N looked up at the mention of her name. Five trusts me?
“I can understand Y/N but…why me?” Asks Vanya. She was confused, no one had included her in anything.
“Because you're ordinary.” Her face drops. Y/N gives Five a glare. “Because you'll listen.”
“Okay.” She inhales sharply, getting up to go to the bathroom and came back with some supplies for Five’s arm.
“When I jumped forward and got stuck in the future, do you know what I found?” Five asked as his sister cleaned his cut.
“No.” Both girls answered at the same time.
“Nothing. Absolutely nothing.” His voice cracked. “As far as I could tell, I was the last person left alive. I never figured out what killed the human race, but...I did find something else. The date it happens. The world ends in eight days, and I have no idea how to stop it.”
Y/N stared at him, her mouth slightly open as she took in all the information. She looked at Vanya who had stilled from what Five had said, before slowly speaking.
“I'll put on a pot of coffee.”
