I have another one if it’s okay? #9 of the angst list? Sad boi hours for sure!
<3
This ended up...sadder than I intended
Prompt: “Did it mean anything to you? Did I mean anything to you?”
Words: 625
Warning: None
The moment Sean McAllister calls her, her world comes to an abrupt stop. The future she had envisioned, the life she had allowed herself to fall into, all started to wilt away immediately, delicate petals of what could have been falling away in front of her eyes.
She immediately pulls back from Aaron. Their relationship was still new and shiny, but what she had told herself only days ago was it. The thing she had been waiting her whole life for. Aaron was kind, loving and everything she wanted.
And now she couldn’t have him, not if she wanted him to live.
The hurt on his face when she keeps turning down dates and evenings together makes her ache, a pain in her chest that makes her want to scream. To tell him everything, selfishly put the man she knows she loves in danger for her own needs. But she can’t do that, to him, or to the little boy she loves with her whole heart.
She’s flustered when she gets back to hers after meeting Ian. His knowledge of Aaron and Jack, as well as the rest of the team, solidifying her choice in her head. Distance would keep them safe.
She knows she should have expected to see him waiting at her door. It feels like a punch to the gut, but she uses all of her diplomatic training to keep a straight face.
“Aaron” she says, moving past him to let herself into her apartment, “what are you doing here?”
“I needed to talk to you, and you keep avoiding me.”
“I asked for space.” She says, her tone clipped, sharp in a way she hadn’t been with him since they first met.
“You didn’t, Em.” He replies, stepping towards her, but she flinches, pulls back. Knows that even the touch of his palm to her cheek would be enough to undo her. “You just pulled away.”
“I think we need to stop.” She says, looking at the floor, her voice emotionless. “We should stop.”
“Sweetheart-”
She finally looks up at him, their eyes meeting, and she can’t bear the look on his face.
“Please don’t call me that.”
They fall into silence for a second, and for the first time in a long time she can’t read him. Can’t figure out what he’s thinking, and it hurts.
“Did it mean anything to you?” He asks, his voice so sad it knocks the breath out of her, a sharp pain in her abdomen. “Did I mean anything to you?”
She doesn’t know what to say, how to make it better, without telling him the very thing that she was trying to protect him from. The thing that would get him killed. So she stays quiet, the silence so loud, so overwhelming, she thinks she can hear her own heart break.
Aaron chokes outs a bitter laugh and shakes his head, almost like he was mad at himself, rather than at her. That would be easier to take, she thinks. The thought that he hated her already before he learnt her biggest secret.
He walks out the door without another word, not looking back at her once. It’s only when he’s gone she finally finds the words, speaks them outloud despite the fact he would never hear them.
“You mean everything.”
She gives herself a moment, a moment to wallow in the grief of what could have been, before she centres herself. Blows out a deep breath and continues on as if Aaron had never come to see her, as if they hadn’t broken each other's hearts and left the pieces to rot on her living room floor.
Maybe, she tells herself, if she survived this, there would be something worth saving.

I didn’t work at the BAU, so when Spencer started to become distant, I began to worry. Lately, Spencer had no longer shown any desire and made zero effort to get back home as soon as possible or take the time to call or answer my texts while he was away on cases.
I thought that maybe this was all just a small fluke in the air and I was going to have the man who used to not be able to detach himself from my side after coming home from cases. The man whose cheeks would turn a deep crimson every time I would compliment him or give him a quick kiss on the forehead in public. The person who was behind sending me treats and love notes to my work. He made me feel like the most stunning and loved person every time I looked into his eyes. But I learned very quickly that this was very far from over.
The day wasn’t even over yet and I was ready to go home, take a hot bath, and go to bed. Sleep was the only time I got to escape from the hell that was my reality.
Arriving at the apartment complex, I parked my car, glancing at Spencer’s empty parking spot next to mine. He didn’t drive often, so he either took the metro or just rode along with me on the days we would both go out to complete a task that needed to be done. Always enjoying and craving to be in the other’s company whenever possible. The last time we were in the car, or together, was two weeks ago after I had dropped off Spencer’s car at the mechanic.
I wasn’t expecting anyone to be home since it was midday, and Spencer was supposed to be out of town on a case. So to say I was shocked to see my boyfriend standing in the living room area of our apartment with an endearing smile spreading across his face was a bit of an understatement. The moment I saw him, I forgot about everything that had happened these past few months: all those nights in our bed alone crying over the life I was positive Spencer and I would make together. I mean, if one were to have asked me a few months ago if I was going to marry Spencer Reid and live out the rest of our days loving each other, I would have once told you that was a silly question to even ask.
My hopefulness of things being all better came to a halt when I noticed that Spencer was on the phone and hadn’t even noticed my presence, too enthralled with the conversation he was having.
After only moments of standing there, the phone call he was having seemed to be coming to an end. Needless to say, I wish I would have picked up the extra shift my boss had offered me tonight.
The second I heard the words, “I love you too,” leave the man of my dreams’ mouth, I dropped the metal water bottle and everything else that was previously in my hands.
Frozen still, and my ears ringing, I watched as the color drained from his face and he frantically ended the call.
As per usual, he had nothing to say. With tears in his eyes, he struggled to get something out but failed miserably.
I was determined not to lose it in front of him. No matter how much he deserved to be screamed and yelled at, he deserved the same treatment he had been giving me for the past few months.
It was as if I no longer existed to him. In no way was I ever a thought or priority that occupied his mind.
No matter how hard I tried to hold our relationship and future together, how much I was there for him, it didn’t matter.
*FLASHBACK*
I had been sitting here for what felt like hours. Drinking my coffee and desperately trying to study for the MCAT. Then suddenly all my textbooks had been knocked to the floor.
“Shit” I exclaimed out loud as I hurriedly tried to pick up the fallen books.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry” I heard a worried man's voice say.
I looked up at the sound of his voice and there bent down in front of me was the most beautiful man I’d ever seen.
I did not move until I saw how nervous my stare was making this beautiful man. His cheeks were flushed as he continued to ramble out his apology and hand me the fallen books.
“It's okay, I promise. Accidents happen” I say, grabbing the books from his hands and standing up with him.
“I’m Y/N,” I tell him after setting down my books back on the table I was seated at. I reach out my hand to shake his, which to my surprise, makes him even more nervous.
“I’m sorry, I’m not much of a h-handskaker. The number of pathogens passed during a handshake is astounding. It's actually safer to kiss,” the man hurries out.
I again stood there for a moment in awe of him before smirking at him and saying, “I would love to take you up on that offer if I could just get your name first.”
“S-Spencer, Spencer Reid,” he says.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
Walking as calmly as I could to our shared bedroom, I made my way to the closet and began throwing all of Spencer's belongings into suitcases.
Hearing his footsteps and sniffles as he got closer just made me more determined to get him out of our once shared apartment as quickly as possible.
“W-what are you doing?” I barely hear him choke out behind me.
But still, I stayed silent. I didn't even react, I just kept putting his cardigans, work shirts, and converse in the separate suitcases I had laid out on our, well my bed now.
For a moment, he just watched me, but as I began placing the albums of us and our time together that I made for him for his birthday, he broke his silence once again.
“Y/N I-I’m not leaving you, especially not now when you're this upset. I-I love you Y/N, and I care about you.”
Freezing, I looked up and looked him dead in the eye.
Who does he think he is? I think to myself.
“Who do you think you are?” I asked him with a straight and calm expression on my face.
“What?” he questioned.
“You heard me, Spencer. Who the hell do you think you are? Do you think you're in any place to say that you love me? Let alone care about me?” I said, my expression never faltering.
“Y/N what do you mean? I’m your boyfriend, of course, I love and care about you,” he said confidently.
“You, firstly, are no longer my boyfriend, and obviously haven't been for a very long time, unbeknownst to me,” I began. “Secondly, whenever you were actively my boyfriend that didn't stop you from loving another person did it, Spencer?” I asked, already knowing the answer.
“I-I, t-that’s not-” he tried to get out, but I cut him off.
“And finally, you definitely do not love or care about me. At least, well I mean, I think you did at one point in time. But you haven't for a long time,” I said as I began to finish packing his shit up, wanting him out of here more than ever at that point.
This foolishness of his is going to make me break my calm and collected act if he keeps it up.
Eventually, I moved into the bathroom connected to the bedroom and grabbed all of his toiletries. Throwing them into the final suitcase, I zipped it up and started grabbing all the bags I could at once to set outside. Not so secretly hoping this would be the final push he needed to get him out of my life.
As I go to move past Spencer- who has looked like a deer in headlights ever since I last spoke- he grabs my arm to stop me.
“Y/N please just let me explain, I still want to be with you. We were trying to make a baby remember? You wanted to have my kids Y/N.” he said, trying to pull me closer to him.
Ripping your arm from his grip, “YOU DON’T GET TO DO THAT SPENCER!” I screamed, poking his chest with my finger, not being able to stay collected any longer. “You don’t get to bring up how I wanted to have and carry your children Spencer. You especially don't get to explain how you started seeing someone else after we found out that I couldn't give you what both you and I wanted.” I said, taking a step back and seething at him.
“How did you know-” He started to ask
“Because unlike you, Spencer, I’ve been using my brain to put together that the person, whoever they may be, on the opposite line of the phone call I walked in on earlier, is the same person that the suspicious love note I found the other day while in your office.” I explained
“What the hell were you doing in my office Y/N?” He asked you, getting anger
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me Spencer,” I said exasperated “You have NO RIGHT to be angry right now, but if you'd really like to know, I, unlike you have noticed that you have seemed a little overworked lately. So being the loving and caring partner I am, I decided to give your office a very needed clean-up. I mean god Spencer who do you think is responsible for throwing away the molding coffee cups that were thrown everywhere. I even went as far as organizing all the files in your drawer, as well as restocking your snack drawer.
“I mean you would think I get so much as a thank you from you, but it must have slipped my mind that you had forgotten about my existence.” I quickly spat out before taking a deep breath and continuing, “You almost had me fooled Spencer I must admit, if it wasn't for me walking into our apartment at the wrong time today, I would still be foolishly waiting for the love note I found. But now I know damn well it isn't for me.” I say while moving to put the rest of the bags I packed outside.
Now standing at the front door, I heard Spencer say, “I didn’t even meet her in person Y/N, I swear to you. We only ever talked on the phone.”
I let out a breathy laugh, “Oh because that makes it so much better Spencer. Let me be completely honest with, something that you should try yourself, I would have preferred you fucked a rando one time and that be it. Maybe then we would have a chance, but no, you so obviously have feelings for someone else that you haven’t even given me the decency to tell me who they are” I said tired and just ready to not see his face anymore.
“It’s Maeve, Y/N. Maeve is the person I was speaking to earlier.” He confessed
“Maeve?!? The doctor I found for your headaches Maeve?!”
“I’m so sorry Y/N. But I told you I still love you.”
“No, no, no you're not sorry, you're just sorry you got caught. And if you really love me like you say you do let me ask you this, me or her?” I ask, having a sliver of hope for the first time since coming home that, maybe just maybe our relationship could actually be saved.
But then Spencer had to crush my heart once again, “Y-Y/N I can’t just choose between the two of you,” He said in a whisper
“I think you just did. Please get out of my house Spencer and never contact me again.” I said sternly, walking past him into my once shared and full of love bedroom, slamming the door closed once I’m in the room.
After about ten minutes I finally heard the front door shut, not before Spencer gave another apology though.
Letting myself slide down the door, once I hit the floor I laid down, curled up into a ball, and let out the most heart-wrenching cry.
Spencer Walter Reid, the man I thought I was going to marry and grow old with, didn’t love me anymore.

Just a very fluffy, soft thing, because it's been a hell of a week and we all deserve it.

Words: 1.1k
Warnings: So fluffy you might lose a tooth
Read over on Ao3 in my collection of mini fics and prompts, or below the cut
The first thing she is aware of is his knuckles running down her cheek, the sound of his voice as he gently whispers her name. She grumbles, batting him away with her hand, burying her face further into her pillow.
“Em,” he whispers, his hand moving her hair from her face, “you’ve got to wake up.”
“What time is it?” Emily slurs, words merging into one even in her own ears, sure she had only had a couple hours of sleep at most.
“Not quite 5am.” Aaron replies, having the nerve to smile at her when she opens one eye, looking up at him in the dimly lit room.
“Did we get called?” She asks, pushing herself up on one elbow so she can look at him properly, rubbing at her eyes as she forces them open. “Another body?”
They’d been in Colorado for three days, getting what felt like nowhere with the case. A date Aaron had been planning for them for weeks interrupted yet again. At least this time they’d made it to the restaurant, which was an improvement on the last two times.
“No, no body. No call.” He answers, still smiling at her, his hand coming to cup her neck, his thumb ghosting at her cheek.
She frowns at that, almost growling at him. “Then why did you wake me up?”
Aaron almost laughs when she slumps back into the bed, curling into his side of the bed, always seeking out his warmth, closing her eyes as if she had never opened them.
“I thought we could watch the sunrise.” He says simply, as if it was obvious. Something they always did. She doesn’t even move, and for a moment he thinks she has fallen asleep again, until she scoffs. A singular noise she doesn't follow up with anything. “Em?”
“If you want me to go watch the sunrise you are going to have to carry me.” She mumbles, her face burying deeper into the pillow, wilfully ignoring him in a way that could only be matched by his son.
Emily clearly wasn’t anticipating his next move, wasn’t actually thinking he would pick her up, a small yelp escaping her when he lifts her from the bed, heaving her against his chest, still wrapped in the comforter.
“Aaron.” She exclaims, her arms wrapping around his neck subconsciously, securing herself to him as he walks towards the french doors of their hotel room.
It was an unusually nice room compared to where they usually stayed. The small town they were in only had one hotel, usually meant for tourists who were there to enjoy the mountains, the pamphlet Emily had picked up in the foyer bragging about stunning views.
As Aaron settles into the chair outside, Emily curled up in his lap and the comforter around both of them, he can’t help but agree. The breaking of dawn over the mountain landscape, the sky painted with colours he could never hope to describe, he thinks they might be right.
It was beautiful.
He looks down at the woman in his arms, the person he knew was the love of his life, and smiles when he sees that she still has her eyes closed, her breath against his neck as she lays against him.
“Sweetheart.”
“I’m awake.” She says, the thickness to her voice giving away how close she had been to falling asleep again. She opens her eyes, bleary and wide, and looks at the view.
“It’s gorgeous.” She says, burying into him slightly deeper, seeking out his warmth despite the comforter.
“It’s not the only thing that is.” He replies, pressing a kiss to her temple.
A laugh peels out of Emily and she turns her head to kiss his throat. “You’re such a sap.”
Aaron smiles. “I love you, you know that right?”
She frowns, a slight edge to his tone that makes her worry. She pulls enough away to look at him. “Of course I do, I love you too.”
“I know I’m not always the best at expressing it-”
Her frown deepens as she cuts him off, sitting up enough so her eyes can meet his, her hand cupping his cheek.
“You let me know all the time,” she says, as if it was obvious, because it was, and she strokes his skin, “I’ve never felt so loved.”
He kisses her, leaning forward and pressing his lips to hers, his forehead resting against hers as they pull away.
“Marry me?”
It takes a second for his words to register, the lack of sleep and early hour slowing down her responses, but he sees the second it does.
“What?” She stammers out, pulling back to look at him properly, as if she was trying to figure out if she had misheard him.
“Will you marry me?” He says, more confidence to his question this time. “I was going to ask at dinner a couple of days ago. And the week before that, and the week before that.” He explains, his eyes fixed on as she just kept staring at him, her eyebrows creased. “And I realised this morning that work would always be in the way, but that it didn’t matter. It’s part of us, it’s how we met.” He strokes her cheekbone, smiling when her eyes snap back to meet his, as if his touch had reset her brain. “I have a ring it’s in my briefcase-”
“Yes.”
“What?” He asks, his turn to be thrown off, a slow smile appearing on her face.
“Yes. I’ll marry you.”
Aaron kisses her then, pulling her closer, and letting himself get lost in it. She kisses him back just as fiercely, as if he was the thing that kept her grounded, her anchor in the unsteady world they lived in.
“I can go get the ring.” He offers when they pull away and his eyes meet hers, the golden sunrise reflecting in her dark eyes, making them dance in a way he had never seen before, but hoped he would see for the rest of his life.
“No,” she says, kissing him again before settling against him again, turning to face the rising sun, “later. I want to stay here for a bit.”
“Whatever you want sweetheart.” He replies, tightening his hold on her, his hand running up and down her back.
He’s not sure how long they sit like that, content and safe in each other's arms as they watch a new day start together.
“Love you.” She mumbles against him eventually, the thickness to her voice familiar, a sure sign she was almost asleep again
“Love you too, Em.”
He watches as the sun makes it over the horizon, pinks and blues spreading throughout the sky, the start of a new day in front of him, as his new beginning sleeps soundly in his arms.

→ SLEEPING IN
pairing: luke alvez x reader word count: 688 content: just fluff and cuddles with luke and roxy <3
Tumblr media
He had been gone a couple of weeks, deeply focused on the case they were working somewhere along the west coast. He hadn’t actually told you where they were going, the case having torn him from you in the middle of the night. That meant two weeks where you had fallen asleep with your arms wrapped around Roxy, the thick fur soft against your skin as the dog settled in to sleep next to you. You had been skeptic about having the dog at your apartment at first; not because you didn’t like her (quite on the contrary, you absolutely loved Roxy – even to the point where he worried you loved her more than), and the dog loved you – however, she was used to Luke’s apartment, and with the strict morning routine the two of them had, you had your worries.

pairing: emily prentiss x reader wordcount: 371 category: fluff warnings: mentions of alcohol

“That’s it, I’m positive about this,” Emily scoffed, sinking further back against the cushions of your couch, arms crossed over her chest. “Your cat hates me.” She faked a pout, causing you to chuckle as you moved back towards the couch, wine glasses in your hands. “Sergio was never like this? Of course, Sergio is also now living with Garcia – and I doubt anyone could hate anything after living with her.”
You handed her a glass, placing your own on the coffee table, before picking up your cat; a young, black–tabby with a stunning pattern draped across its back. “He doesn’t hate you.” You rolled your eyes, placing a kiss on the cat’s head, noticing how the feline tried to pull away at the smell of your breath. “See? It’s the wine breath he doesn’t like.”
Emily narrowed her eyes, but reached out to pet the cat nonetheless, fingers gracing against yours as she reached for the soft fur along the cat’s back. “Maybe he’ll like me again in the morning, then.” She huffed as the cat squirmed out of your arms, landing on his paws with a soft thud, before jogging over to his spot by the window.
You sunk down next to her, scooting closer as you returned to silence, the gentle tones of music echoed through the apartment. Outside, you could see the city skyline, lights dancing and flickering, your cat’s gaze following an airplane flying above your building from where he sat on the top of his scratching post.
“I like this.” Emily mused, wrapping an arm around your shoulders to pull you closer, nuzzling her face into the crook of your neck. “I know this is going to jinx it, but I very much enjoy spending my evenings here, with you.” She finished her words by pressing a couple of light kisses to the skin of your neck, causing you to chuckle.
“Well, even if we do jinx it, are you sure they could force you to come in?” You raised an eyebrow, feeling the vibrations of her chuckle against your skin as you snuck your arms around her waist, fingers playing with the hem of her blouse. “It’s a late night, and you’ve been drinking.”

→ DANCING IN THE DARK
pairing: luke alvez x reader wordcount: 423 category: fluff
Tumblr media
“How are you holding up?”
Luke’s voice was low as he cornered you by the coffee machine at the precinct, the agent not wishing to attract the attention of everyone around. You had taken a tumble, tripping on a dog’s leash (of all things) while chasing down a suspect, your back sore and a few cuts and bruises forming along your knees and palms. “I’m fine.” You mumbled, wincing as you wrapped your hand around the ceramic cup, containing the warm beverage. His expression, however, told you he didn’t believe it. “Luke, I’m serious. I’m fine.”
“I’m taking a look when we get back to the hotel.” He lowered his voice even further, words barely even audible to you.
“Whatever you say, Alvez.” You rolled your eyes, moving back to the conference room. However, you were happy he was there with you. The case dragged out, the afternoon turning into the early hours of the night before Emily sent everyone back to the hotel for the night, strict orders to get rest.
You could feel Luke’s gaze on you in the elevator from the lobby to the fourth floor, the floor where the entire team had been checked in, though you opted to ignore it. It wasn’t until you were attempting to get ready for bed, the bandages on your hand loosening, that you huffed, absentmindedly ending up at his door, ignoring the gloating expression on his face. “So, you came around.”
“I need your help to redress the wound on my hand, Alvez.” You chuckled, tapping his shin with the tip of your shoes, not wanting the rest of the team to hear your conversation.
He stepped aside, shutting the door behind you when you stepped inside, his hands finding your waist before you could even react. “I’ve missed this all day.” Luke hummed as he pressed his lips against yours, the vibrations of his hum sending a shiver down your spine.
“Luke–,” you chuckled against him, your hands on his chest as you tried to nudge him of you. “I really need help redressing the wound on my hand, can you help me?”
He nodded, leading you to the bed, where he had you sitting on the edge, his movements and touches gentle and delicate as he cleaned the wound, gently wrapping the bandage around it. “All done.” Luke smiled sweetly, leaning forward to connect your lips once more. “Now with that being done, you’re staying here tonight. No buts, or what ifs; I don’t care if the team finds out.”

hi bestie bae! hope you’re having a nice day <3
❛ you’re lucky you’re cute. ❜
Hi bestie!!! Happy Thursday <3 I hope you’re having a good week!
Idea credit to @haley-h0tchner
“Stay out of the puddles!” Aaron calls out, watching as Jack stomps one little foot in the muddy water and sprays it all over himself as a result.
“Jack! Buddy, you can’t do that,” you scold gently. “You need to find a big puddle, and jump with both feet. Like this!”
You demonstrate by jumping in the nearest puddle you can find, and cheering along with Jack when he follows suit and drenches you both with mud.
Aaron groans from somewhere behind you, probably thinking about the floor he’s going to need to clean later, but you really don’t care when Jack is looking up at you with that bright light in his eyes.
You play in the puddles for a while longer until you both start to get cold, and Jack is yawning. Aaron scoops him up and carries him inside; it’s a good thing, because Jack is fast asleep by the time Aaron peels off his muddy jacket and rainboots and tucks him into bed.
In the kitchen you start the kettle, making yourself and Aaron both a cup of hot cocoa to warm up with. What Jack doesn’t know won’t hurt him, even though he’d be furious to find out that you drink cocoa without him. When Aaron gets back to the kitchen, you’re stirring two mugs and pass one to him.
He takes his and sips it, looking down the hall towards Jack’s room. “You can’t encourage that kind of stuff, you know.”
“Of course I can. He’s the greatest kid in the world; I’m never telling him no, for as long as I can help it,” you say with a grin.
Aaron shakes his head at you, eyeing the muddy boots lying in the entryway. “You’re lucky you’re cute. If anyone else was teaching my son this kind of thing…”
“Don’t let anyone else around him, and we won’t have any problems,” you suggest. “We can teach him how to clean the floors tomorrow, it’ll be fun. Mature family bonding time.”
“Maybe a little too mature, for him.” Aaron leans in to kiss you, but stops just before your lips meet. “You’re cleaning that up, by the way. In case that wasn’t clear.”
You close the distance between the two of you, brushing your lips against his briefly before pulling back just enough to speak. “You’re lucky you’re cute, if anything.”
“Mm,” Aaron hums, pulling you close by the waist. “Maybe I’m just a lucky man because I’ve got you, no cuteness involved.”
Rolling your eyes, you lean in for another kiss. You know you’re luckier, as sure as you know exactly how cute he is.

---
Growing up Aaron's mother told him to never fall in love with a kindred spirit, to never tie one down for it would leave him with bad luck and a broken heart.
And Aaron didn't, he fell in love with Haley, she was soft and kind and routinely.
He'd wake up to a kiss from her and a hug from Jack and he'd go to work. Mondays and Wednesdays he'd pick Jack up from daycare and Tuesdays and Thursdays he'd drop him off. Fridays were date nights as Jack went to go stay with Jessica. It was wonderful, loving and the perfect way to relax when he got home from his stressful job.
And yet it wasn't enough, it was boring and it left him wide awake at nights wondering where he'd gone wrong. The safety of the routine kept him tied to Haley with rotted black rope that'd once been red.
He knew the love had faded, he knew he stayed for the security it brought him. He laid in their bed every night, his heart cold but his spot warm. His heart beat faster at the call from work than with Haley.
it was never enough, until it was, until he met Emily.
She was a breath of fresh air, wild and carefree like petrichor on a summer evening during a drizzle. She was freeing, she was wild and she was a force of nature. And Aaron fell in love with her despite knowing the consequences. But it felt so very good at the moment. He jumped and he felt no remorse, the fall was liberating and Emily felt the same.
She felt the same yet instead of the fresh air Aaron breathed around her she felt locked up and tied down and she refused to acknowledge that this cage was love.
She felt like he'd sliced her open and pulled out her heart, deeming it as his. She felt as though he'd ooze ichor, that no godly being could ever compare to the holiness of him. Falling in love with him was a damned sin, but the sweetest of all.
She knew acknowledgment was indulgence and though depravity itself is no greater than the gentle sin, what was indulgence if not the sweetest of sorrows and the cruellest of pleasures upon the cursed tongue of humanity, upon her cursed heart.
What was indulgence if not the bated breath before the calamity that began at his arrival, the feather light dew in the early morning leading to a bad day or even the light drizzle of an oncoming storm that'd cause her to regret it all, regret her admittance of her blasphemous feelings. Though in the end, what could be worse than the awareness of the pain that came with loving him for all it would ever be was a cursed act looming over her in the shape of grief and regret.
The perilous weight of the adversity of acceptance that came upon her chest slowing the dull throb of her heart and what was that if not the slow descent to death.
These feelings had crept up on her like a wall of cold, harsh rain on a warm, sunny evening. And she feared them.
Yet she couldn't stop her heart from clacking against her ribcage whenever she saw him, she couldn't stop the chill from tickling up her spine when she saw him, she couldn't stop herself when she saw him.
Every one of his touches sunk through her flesh and etched into her bones wrapping around them like rosy red ribbons of passion, those very rosy red ribbons that tied her to him.
One night, late in the office when it was just the two of them it all began. It started with a kiss, a gentle brush of their lips together till he grabbed her hips and she grabbed his head. Then there was passion and pain and tears and tragedy and love, oh so much love.
And then one kiss turned to two and two turned to four till it became another routine in Aarons life, yet one he craved.
They kissed and they loved and then he went home to Haley and Jack and continued his original routine before Emily corrupted him. He kissed Haley's cheek and he hugged Jack then he went to work only to hide under Emily's sheets till the sun arose.
But it wasn't forever. Emily had morals she wasn't willing to change and no matter how much she loved him, he was married.
So she ended it. She ended nights of feverous kisses and days of flushed cheeks.
Aaron begged for a final kiss, a kiss that she granted filled with tears of agony and want for another life.
And then she fled back to who she was, free from her cage and away from the dewy sheets and constricting kisses.
Aaron pitied the fool often, yet now he wondered if it was fair to pity himself for all he was now was hers yet she wanted no part of him near. Not while he had a wife. So he went back to his golden cage and spent nights sobbing into Haley's arms as Emily ran free.
And if Haley heard Emily sobbed out into her shoulder as Aaron cried, she pretended not to for the sake of Jack. She stayed and he stayed yet Emily ran free.
Aaron should've listened to his mother after all.

September 1996
The first thing she’s aware of is how warm she is.
It was a warmth she had dreamt of for over three years. Something she hadn’t been able to replicate since. No amount of blankets coming even close. Her bed still cold even with another person next to her, because they hadn’t been him.
It was comforting. Soothing. Almost enough to lull her back into sleep. She opens her eyes despite the temptation to sleep some more, the dim light of her bedroom letting her know it was still early, and she can’t help but smile as she sees she’s pressed up against Aaron, nothing between them. His arms are around her, holding her to his chest. Their legs are tangled together, the soft sheets of her bed just about covering them.
He was really there, like he’d never left her side.
It had been six months since his failed wedding to Haley. Emily had done everything she could to be a friend to him as he attempted to stitch his life back together. She did it because she wanted to, because she loved him even though she’d never told him, and she wanted to be there for him in whatever capacity she could. Despite his constant reassurances she felt guilty too, knowing if she had never shown up to his wedding it would have gone ahead, he’d still be on vague speaking terms with his mother who was ignoring him for embarrassing the family. He’d be married.
With guilt simmering just beneath her skin she waited. Waited for him to come to her, to say he was ready. She understood, she knew they couldn’t just jump into something immediately, and she didn’t want to. Wanting the reassurance, despite the fact she had thrown away a once in a lifetime job opportunity for him, that she wasn’t just a rebound.
So she helped him. Kept her mouth shut when she looked at apartments with him that were awful, but she knew it was all he could afford. Helped him build cheap, flat pack furniture - laughing at him when he got frustrated at the instructions.
Some days, it took everything in her not to kiss him.
It struck her sometimes, how close she had come to losing him to someone who she once thought he belonged to. Emily remembered those nights when they first met, those stolen weeks when she would lay next to him wishing she was the woman he loved, jealous of Haley despite the fact they weren’t together at the time, and she was the one he was with.
Almost 6 months to the day since his wedding he asked her on a date. It had come out of nowhere, and she now wondered if he’d been counting down. If he’d decided 6 months was the right amount of time and had set it as a date in his head for when they could move forward.
Emily had tried to talk him out of it, saying they didn’t need to date, that they knew each other, hoping they could just fall back into what they’d had before. But Aaron had insisted, a small smile on his face as he cupped her cheek and kissed her forehead, claiming he’d never had the chance to take her somewhere, their previous relationship a secret to anyone other than them.
She hadn’t found it in herself to say no to that.
Aaron had picked her up from her apartment at the exact time he said he would, knocking on the door despite the fact he already had a key. He’d handed her flowers, daisies, and told her how beautiful she looked. He took her to dinner, just like he had countless times since they reentered each other's lives, and she had loved how natural it felt, how right.
He’d walked her to her door, a kiss to her cheek as he pulled away and that’s when she decided to take charge, not wanting him to go anywhere. She had pulled him back to her by the lapels of his jacket, her lips against his and her tongue in his mouth before he could react. It took a second for him to react, sparking a memory of their very first kiss, and then he was on her. They barely made it into her apartment before her dress had ridden up her thighs, his hands grasping at familiar skin.
She was sure she’d only slept for a few hours at most, the two of them making up for lost time, but she didn’t regret a moment of it. Happy that they had finally made it back here.
She wasn’t going to let him go again.
He’s awake, his fingers trailing slowly up and down her bare spine tell her that much, but she doesn’t move. Doesn’t want to. Content to lay here against him, surrounded by him and everything she’d spent the last 3 years convincing herself she’d never have again.
“Morning.” He rasps out, a kiss pressed against the top of her head. His voice had always brought her comfort, but first thing in the morning was her favourite. Rough with sleep and slightly croaky, it felt like something just for her.
“Morning.” She replies, settling in deeper to his embrace, not wanting the moment to end. “I missed this.” She says, not even realising she was going to say it until she already had, her cheeks flushing with slight embarrassment at the admission.
She wonders if he can feel it, the rise in temperature in her face, pressed into his chest from where she’d fallen asleep in the small hours of the morning.
“I missed this too.” He replies, not missing a beat, his fingers still following their pattern up and down her back. “I missed you.”
She doesn’t know how to reply to that, chokes back an admission of love that it is somehow too late and too early for at the same time, so she just kisses his chest instead, lips pressed against a small scar that hadn’t been there the last time she had seen him.
“Happened on one of my first assignments with the bureau.” He says softly, kissing the top of her head. “A guy with a knife was a little faster than me.”
Emily frowns slightly but kisses it again before lifting her head to look at him for the first time since they’d woken up. She can’t help but smile when their eyes meet. She puts her hands on his chest to push herself up, kissing him properly, smiling into it when his hand cupped the back of her head.
“Morning.” She whispers again against his lips, laughing slightly when he continues to press kisses against hers. She shifts, sitting up so she can deepen the kiss, lost in it already.
He rolls them, her back landing on the mattress and she again thinks how much she had missed him. His hand slowly moves up her side, fingers trailing against her skin that makes her shiver, and her stomach rumbles loudly.
Aaron laughs, pulling away from her and smiling down at her, his laugh only getting louder when she groans in embarrassment, turning her head to bury her face in his neck.
“Hungry?” He asks, kissing the side of her head.
“Shut the fuck up.” She replies, pinching the skin of his back in retribution.
“We did work up quite the appetite last night,” he says, manoeuvring so he could look at her, pressing a kiss to her flushed cheek, “why don’t I go downstairs, make us breakfast.”
She bites her bottom lip, reaching up to move his hair from his forehead. “I don’t have any food.”
Aaron rolls his eyes at her, nothing but affection for her rolling off of him. “Of course you don’t.”
Suddenly he’s out of bed, his warmth replaced by the chill of her room.
“Where are you going?” She asks, shifting so she was resting on her elbows. “I was comfortable.”
“We,” he says, walking over to take her hands, helping her up, “are going to that convenience store down the street, buying stuff for breakfast, then we’ll come back here, I’ll cook, and then” he leans in and kisses her, “we’ll work up an appetite again.”
Emily smiles at him, her hands linking at the back of his head as she pulls him in for another kiss. “Ok,” she agrees, “but we should get some things for lunch too. I have a feeling you’re going to be cooking for me a lot.”
She pats his cheek and walks away, feeling his gaze burning into her back as she walks into her ensuite.
___
He loses track of her the moment they enter the store, Emily showing little to no interest in the items they actually needed to buy. He grabs the things they need, ingredients for pancakes, bacon and coffee creamer, before he goes looking for her.
She’s in the candy aisle when he finds her, standing in front of the peanut butter cups. She’s wearing his suit jacket, something she had insisted on putting on over the summer dress she had pulled out of her closet. The sleeves fall past her hands, dwarfing her despite their relatively similar height. It sparked something in his chest, seeing her in public in his clothes, and he suddenly finds himself needing to touch her.
He slips his arms around her from behind, smiling when she immediately leans back into him, her hand coming to cover his on her hip.
“You can’t eat candy for breakfast.” He says, turning his head to press a kiss against her cheek.
“Why not?” She asks, scrunching her nose a little, a pout on her lips just for show.
Aaron laughs at her, his hands tightening their grip ever so slightly. “Because you aren’t 22 anymore.”
“Ass.” She says, unable to stop the smile on her face. “I’m only 25.”
“26 next month.”
She makes an outraged noise just like he knew she would, turning her head to tell him off, but he captures her lips in a kiss and she forgets why she was annoyed at him almost instantly, her hand coming up to cup his cheek.
He’d never been one for public displays of affection, but with Emily, after everything they had been through to get here, it felt different. When they had been together before it had been a secret, their feelings for each other kept hidden away so well they had successfully kept the true depths of them from each other.
Being able to kiss her, to show the people around them that they belonged to each other, in the candy aisle in her local convenience store of all places, felt like a gift. Something he wanted to treasure forever.
“What?” She asks after they pull away, smiling as he realises he’s been staring at her.
“Nothing,” he replies, using all of his willpower to not express his love for her right there next to the candy, “you’re just beautiful that's all.”
Emily laughs, stamping a kiss to his lips before she whispers to him. “If you’re looking to get lucky again Agent Hotchner you’re going the right way about it.”
She winks at him and walks away, her laughter following her like a perfume, and for a moment he's dumbfounded. Unsure how he got so lucky to get a second chance with her again.
He grabs two packs of peanut butter cups before he joins her at the checkout.
___
He stays all day.
They end up ordering in dinner, sitting on her couch snuggled together as they ate chinese food with a terrible direct to tv movie on in the background, neither of them paying any attention to it.
It’s more than 24 hours after he arrived that she’s showing him out, Aaron saying he needed to go home so he could be ready for work in the morning, reluctantly letting go of him once her front door is open.
“Lunch tomorrow?” He asks, his hand at her lower back as he pulls her closer.
“If you’ve got time.” She answers, smiling uncharacteristically shyly at him. She’d passed out of the academy a month ago, landing her first job in the FBI at the counterintelligence unit.
“I’ve always got time for you.” He replies, leaning forward to kiss her before pulling away. “See you tomorrow.” He stamps one last kiss to her lips before turning to leave. “Love you.”
“Love you too.”
They both freeze, realising simultaneously what they had said so casually, as if they’d said it to each other a thousand times, instead of this being the first.
Aaron turns back to look at her, sees how wide her eyes are and can’t help but smile despite the nerves bubbling in his own belly. He takes a step back towards her and cups her cheek, tilting her head so she’s looking at him, not letting her continue to stare at the floor like she had been doing.
“I meant it, sweetheart.” He says softly, his thumb tracing her cheekbone. “Maybe it’s too soon, or too late. But I meant it. I love you.”
Emily smiles at him, covering his hand on her cheek with her own, linking their fingers together.
“It’s never too late.” She whispers, leaning forward and kissing him, hoping he can feel exactly what he means to her in it. “I love you too. I have for years.” She smiles at him and it’s watery, making her shake her head because of how ridiculous it was that they were having this conversation in her open doorway. “I wish I’d been brave enough to say it then.”
“Em, you’re the bravest person I know.”
She hugs him, not trusting herself to say anything else, not wanting any more of her feelings for him to be spilt out onto the hallway carpet, something she didn’t want any of her neighbours to see. He hugs her back just as tightly, his hold on her so firm her feet lift from the ground slightly. She turns her head to press her face against his neck, breathing in the scent she never wanted to forget again.
“If you think you’re going home now you’ve got another thing coming.”
He chuckles, kissing her temple before lowering her back down onto the ground, walking them the two paces back into her apartment. She closes the door behind them, locking the door immediately as if he would change his mind, as if he would rather be anywhere other than here with her.
“I’ll have to leave early, love.” He says, his arm around her waist as they walk back towards the living room, the tv still on with the sound low.
She hums as they settle onto the couch, leaning into his side. “You’ll have to keep some suits here, I’ll make you some room in the closet.”
“Wow,” he says, squeezing her knee, “straight past a drawer and onto closet space? You must love me.”
“Well, I’d ask you to move in so I never have to go to that dump of an apartment of yours again, but that’s a bit much for a first date. Even for us.” She replies, unable to stop herself from laughing at the look on his face.
“Emily, you said you liked my apartment.”
“What I actually said was it was better than the other ones you dragged me to.”
He pokes her in the side as she lists exactly what’s wrong with it, trying to move away from him but failing as his touches become ticklish.
“Ok,” she eventually relents, laughing as he stops his attack on her, “ok. It’s not that bad. But mine is nicer.”
He can’t argue with that so he nods. “Maybe moving in is a third date conversation.” He offers a smile forming at the corner of his lips as she stares at him, her mouth open slightly in awe. “I don’t want to be anywhere you aren’t.”
Emily curls into his side, her head on his shoulder as she hides away from his intense gaze, the affection for her almost overwhelming. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Em.”
She falls asleep against him on the couch, his familiar warmth lulling her to sleep, and her last thought is that she owes her mother some flowers for making her go to that wedding.

Except You
summary: reader meets aaron and stops feeling like the exception.
pairing: fem!reader x aaron hotchner
warnings: kissing
word count: 729
pack masterlist | part 2 | part 3 | part 4
It’s a mild July evening in Virginia when your parents drag you to a community bonfire. Since you’d gone off to college in California they'd moved here, citing that they wanted to get away from the city and live a quiet life. It’s rural, full of greenery, the local grocery store, farms and houses with wrap-around porches. Everyone knows everyone, everyone belongs. Except you.
You’re a little nervous, you haven’t been here since they’ve moved, and they’ve had your entire spring semester to get to know the people of this tiny town. Your parents abandon you almost immediately, making their way through the ground to find their friends
You’re walking around, just taking in your surroundings when some guy with greasy hair and a goosebump inducing smirk walks up to you. He’s large, towering over you while chatting and flirting. You keep your answers minimal, hands crossing against your chest in discomfort. Every time you try to lead the conversation to its end, he somehow spins it, asking another question. You’re about ready to just run the other way when another guy comes to stand next to you.
“Hey, I was wondering where you were.” The guy holds his hand out for you and for some reason, you take it eagerly. He pulls you closer to him, wrapping his arm around your waist.
You paint a fake smile on your face. “Sorry, I was talking to…”
This creep looks annoyed that you can’t remember his name, but your savior quickly supplies it. “Jared. Thanks for keeping her company Jared, I’ll take it from here.” He doesn’t even wait for Jared’s answer, just whisks you away, closer to where the fire is burning bright.
Now that you’re away from Jared, you get to take a good look at your savior. He’s in a white shirt and flannel, snug pair of worn jeans, and work boots. His face is serious but not unkind as he sizes you up too.
“Thank you for that.”
“Jared’s known to be a sleaze and I’ve never seen you around before, thought you might need someone to look at for you.”
“Well, thank you. I’m (Y/N).” You give a wide smile, one that he can’t look away from.
“It’s not a problem. I’m Aaron. Are you thirsty? I could grab you a drink?”
“That would be great.”
You end up spending the entire time with him, talking about everything. You tell him you're here to spend some well needed time with your parents. He’s using the summer to make money, working on a couple farms. It’s on to college after that, why you chose a place so far from home, why he chose one so close. He’s majoring in Criminology and minoring in History, while you’re double majoring in Journalism and Criminology. Discussions about school lead to passions and hobbies, each of you completely wrapped in the other as you take turns rambling.
As the sun sets and the stars begin to shine in the sky, he leads you over to a bench that’s a distance away from the rowdiness of the crowd, your arms brushing. He lets you sit first, keeping a healthy distance away from you.
After a few moments of silence while looking up at the moon, you glance over at him, “We should do this again if you aren’t too busy with work.”
“Should we include me saving you from the sleaze part?” He teases, lips upturned in a smirk though he doesn’t look at you yet.
“No, I think there are other parts that could replace that.” You lean over, bumping his shoulder softly with your head.
He looks down at you, his eyes cautious and curious. He’s so close that the tips of your noses touch. “Yeah, what’s that?”
You close the small gap left between you, the softest of groans leaving you at the taste of him. Both of your lips are slightly sticky from the punch you've been drinking, and he runs his tongue of your bottom lip as if he can’t get enough of you. He is thinking that while he kisses you back firmly, how he can almost be sure he'll crave you forever.
He pulls away, breathless, “I think that can replace more than just the saving part.”
“Tired of hearing me babble already?”
“No, never,” He leans in, pressing his lips to yours once more as his hand comes to rest at the base of your neck.
And just like that, you’ve a place to belong for the summer.

Bonjour ← part 2!!
---
Gentle taps of JJ's boots could be heard falling on keen ears as she made her way down the bustling streets of paris. She was on the hunt for Emily, stunned by 'quickly', 'miss' and 'news' to be spelt out during their daily scrabble games.
Excitement and fear bloomed in her chest despite the terrible circumstances. Like a fresh flower it grew, long vines intertwining themselves around her lungs, her heart, her ribs constricting her in her own body with an overwhelming burn of something foreign as the petals took over every remaining bit till she was stuck with a garden filled with rosy flowers in her.
She would never admit to what the seemingly unknown feeling was, never admit to the fact that it was Emily who influenced her decisions, never admit the fact that it was Emily who she'd rip herself into bits for, never admit to the fact that at the end of the day it was Emily who she loved with her whole heart and soul not Will.
Her steps became more hurried as she ventured closer and closer to her destination. She smelt a familiar tinge in the air, one of debauchery and honey and cigarette smoke.
The nostalgic aroma sent a spear through her heart as memories filled her mind, those of better days where Emily could call DC home and days where JJ could pretend and call Emily a friend. It reminded her of when the days felt foggy and forlorn, forever bittersweet because the cold had come and shoved away the warmth they once provided.
But Emily was here now, the warmth of spring was returning and she could feel herself be set alight with anticipation of seeing Emily again, no matter how scared she was of the news she'd be delivered when they'd meet.
She bumbled over to the cafe Emily had asked her to meet her at, trembling at the mere thought of her. At the very end, sat the woman she'd come for decked in trench coats and sunglasses.
Her hair was shorter, lighter, yet she was still Emily. She was still Emily with her high cheekbones and her milky skin, she was still Emily with her piercing scent that cut through the wind and her frail hair that flew astray like feathers falling from the sky. She was still Emily, her Emily, no matter what.
JJ shuffled over faster, till she was right behind Emily, trembling. It had been months, she'd just gotten Emily back. She feared Emily's words and the downfall of her stability yet to come as she tapped Emily on the shoulder. It was surprising how fast Emily's presence washed over her and helped her dissipate her fears, reducing them to nothing but another memory.
Happiness echoed in her, puttering along her insides like butterflies in the air during early march. The chair fell and a gasp emitted Emily as she tugged JJ's wrist pulling her closer and into a tight hug.
There they stood, chest to chest, heart to heart, feeling their bones sludge through their skin in an attempt to get closer to one another; their heartbeat in a tizzy in sync, both filled with the high of each other's presence.
And for a moment they embraced like lovers and not friends, for a moment they forgot of their turmoil, for a moment they told each other the truth. Until they pulled away, their arms grabbing each other as they stood far, yet close, their hips aligned and their hearts away, crying for the other to get closer and closer and closer so they could whisper admissions of love to each other, admissions only their souls would pick up on.
And then they muttered their pleasantries as they sat on opposite ends of the tables, and then their lies began again. Their knees knocked as they made small talk, as JJ blushed and as Emily went on about her experiences oblivious to the roses blooming on JJ's cheeks. The reason for why she was summoned seemed to have slipped her mind before striking her again, honing her like lightning as she bounced on her toes and bumped against the table and hit Emily's knee in the process.
"Oh, I almost forgot to ask. Why'd you call me here?"
It was Emily's turn to blush, her cheeks being dusted with a gentle pink as she looked down at her picked fingers, as she picked already ripped bits of her fingers, as JJ placed her hands atop Emily's to prevent her. the blush deepened and if JJ had been focusing on that she'd see a mirror reaction on Emily but she was adamant on her answer.
"Well, it was getting lonely here and I wondered if placing those would've made you come faster. Clearly, it worked."
JJ withdrew one of her hands and rubbed her forehead, an ache growing between her brows as she struggled to hold in the emotion swimming in there.
Emily missed her and called her here.
Emily missed her
Emily missed her.
Pink roses on her cheeks grew redder and her words wrapped in laughter flew out of her mouth before she could stop herself
"You could've just asked Emily, there's nothing I wouldn't do for you. You know that right?"
The laughter stopped. Emily's mumbling paused. They felt like the world had stood still and the stars held themselves awaiting the outcome and the planets stopped their orbits. They felt like the only two present beings, their eyes darting and their hands fluttering and tears forming, one for joy and for fear. For fear of rejection and for fear of losing a friend. A best friend.
"I'd do anything for you too."
Emily's voice was weak, carried by the air as if the world wanted- no, needed- JJ to listen. JJ's ears perked up, her tears slipping down and falling to her chest where the burn began to fizzle. Drip by drip, tear by tear of joy, the ominous fire faded and showed what it was, being accepted for what it was. Love, flowers blooming and this time not suffocating her.
JJ got up, not caring if the chair fell, not caring if the concrete broke and ate her up.
Emily loved her.
Emily loved her.
Emily loved her.
Then there was hugging and hearts reunited, then there were kisses shared and fireworks blared, then there was love traded in the dark of Emily's bed where they spent their lives in for the next two months.
Then there was goodbye. Then there were clothes messily packed and calls to be answered and hair to be swept and routines to be broken and final kisses to be shared.
And with the final kiss came a press to the forehead and a soft spoken yet world weighing "Au revoir" said to each other's lips.
And then there was slowly fading hope.
And then there was hello.
Emily fought for JJ's attention, wide smiles and wide eyes and wide steps that were met with lacklustre smiles and tired eyes and hurried footsteps.
Emily found it funny, the last time JJ had walked this quickly was to get to her faster and now she was doing it to get away from her.
Finally her chance came, at the plane as all her teammates slept, droopy eyed and drooly mouthed.
"You've been avoiding me."
JJ heard her hitch before she heard her speak. She heard her pain before she heard her hitch, heard her desperation before she heard her pain. JJ heard her happiness to be back before she heard her desperation. JJ heard it all.
But no matter how much she cared, they weren't in Paris anymore. They couldn't act like two reckless teenagers young and in love. She had a son, a boyfrie-a fiance. She wasn't going to play around anymore.
"Will proposed."
Emily felt her heart drop before she felt her tears well, felt her life drip out of her like that singular tear, she felt herself break. She felt herself back in Paris, alone and lost, wandering around the streets looking for someone to fill the void though knowing they would never. Emily felt the pain - the pain that didn't feel like anything close to how she felt when she died. She felt a stab in her heart, the same one that spoke to JJ's and a sting in her head. Then, it was all numb as she finally whispered;
"Au revoir, JJ."

Cold Kisses Had Never Felt So Warm
Emily Prentiss x gn!reader

an: i was mad this was short then i remembered that this is a blurb, its supposed to be small
---
No kiss could ever compare to those of Emily Prentiss'
She was glory, her pale skin resembling the early morning sky when snow first began to fall and her petal soft lips that melted on mine. She tasted like fresh snowflakes that landed on the tip of my tongue during the first fall of winter. The way she grasped my cheeks to pull me closer felt like the soft scarves that played the barriers from the cold that threatened to overcome me in the futile winds.
Kissing her felt like the soft breeze against my cheek and the gentle brush of grass alongside my ankles during the early days of spring.
Loving her was the crunchy leaves and cinnamon of fall.
Being around her felt like revelling in the sunny rays and flushed cheeks in the summer.
And she herself was snow angels and nippy winds in winter.
I wouldn't survive the harshness of this world if not for her kisses breathing sweetness into my mouth and her hands combing through my hair.
