Look I get that NASA has to justify their funding by making us think everything in Space looks cool like in Star Trek. But these images they produce by layering visible and infrared light and then blowing out the saturation are filling our heads with Space-lies.
Like this is what they claim Andromeda looks like:
When, what your monkey eyes would actually see is:
The irony that old newsprint reproductions of Outer Space film photos are probably more accurate to the visible light spectrum is amusing.
And those old black and white sci-fi movies where everything is just a glowing blob are accidentally realistic.
"Preventing another Holocaust" does not simply mean "no one will try to exterminate the Jewish people again." It's SUPPOSED to mean we don't let fascists take over governments and do human rights abuses to ANYBODY unchallenged until they "finish it."
Like the lesson were were supposed to learn from that was "stop doing genocide." It wasn't an asterisk, only specifically Jews, thing.
This is like Evangelical Christians who don't do murder or cheat on their spouses because they don't want to go to hell. Like, dude - you're not supposed to do those things, because doing so is abusive and cruel and antisocial and fundamentally bad. The "going to hell" thing is God making it painfully clear how serious he takes it.
How are this many people missing the point about how being horrible = don't? Why do so many of you need moral statues against it in the first place?
Stop hurting people for selfish reasons! Toddlers learn this! Why is this an impossible ask?
