just a reminder: Any depiction of Jesus being nailed to the cross through the middle of his hand is inaccurate, as the nail would have most likely sliced through the soft flesh as soon as he and the cross were propped up—that’s because of the weight of his arms. He would have almost immediately fallen off, or tipped the cross forward if his feet were tied down, and therefore would have died from the impact. Being nailed through the wrist however is a different story, as the bones through the lower portion of the hand supports the weight of the arms and furthermore the body, as to give a strong foundation to keep Jesus nailed to the cross.
