Although there have been many attempts to redevelop this property over the last two decades, this one seems the most real. one for the books ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ If you know Nashville graffiti, you know about Zew and you sure as hell better know about this little gem that’s been riding for... what? 15+ years or so, maybe longer.... I think this is part of the Zew Lives era when he was making a comeback to painting after a major accident but i could be wrong on that. This piece sat on top of Lions Club Thrift Store on Charlotte Ave. and visible from I-40 between White Bridge Rd. and the 440 split. I would look over every morning on my way to school downtown to peep this piece silently riding. Every time I visited home, every time I drove by, I made a point to look over to feel the joy of seeing this piece still riding after so many years. The last time I was in Nashville, at the end of April, I had the chance to explore this building with @anunlikelyexplorer (thanks again!). Once I realized I was in the building this piece was on, I asked if we could find our way up to the roof to see if it were possible to grab a shot of this... after getting out on the roof, it became evident that, to get the shot, I’d have to make my way across an old rusty HVAC channel that felt like was going to collapse at any moment. I finally made it over to the top part of the roof to grab this shot. At the time, I was elated to have gotten a crisp, up-close shot of this piece that I had admired so much over the years. A few weeks later, I realized just how lucky my timing was, as I learned that this building has since been demolished. I got to see this amazing piece one last time before it was gone for good, and a proper send off with this edit is the only way I can minimally honor is presence over the years.
