One of the most beautiful miniature parks in Europe. It's filled with models of famous catholic buildings from around the world, along with St. John Paul II. statue, his tallest monument ever built. Unfortunately, there was almost no interested in the park, mostly because of the ticket prices. Currently, the park is left abandoned, in a permanent state of disrepair.

A beauty made of steel. It used to be an important system structure, today it is only big and heavy, but beautiful. Nevertheless, I only looked at the building from the outside. Unfortunately, I wasn't that brave to go up there. But the view would certainly be breathtaking.

This from an abandoned middle school in Philadelphia, PA.

This school is George Pepper Middle School named after a a senator from Philadelphia. This school was awarded a lot of metals for the structures engineering, but the City’s Art Committee thought the building lacked humanity.

Returned to Mansfield this weekend armed with some maps, this time explored the other side of the campus.

The nomination form for National Register of Historic Places lists 60 buildings. It took a bit of orienting to get our bearings and matching up which building is which, since none of the roads are named on this map except for the two highways and many of the abandoned buildings don’t bear any markers outside anymore. The map we found doesn’t include the buildings that became Bergin Correctional Institute, nor the cottages by the greenhouse. We couldn’t access the most famous one - Knight Hospital, the one with the huge neoclassical columns at the front entrance - but it was a helpful landmark for identifying the other buildings.
