god lazy in space is such a gorgeous show but I wish I didn't end up disliking it So Much from a narrative perspective.
on the one hand, I haven't watched it since it released and I feel like I should rewatch it if I want to have a fairer judgement- but at the same time that first viewing soured me so hard that it's kept me from going back for this long so
in broad stokes, I feel that it opened up the world too much, and things felt more out-of-focus and disconnected. at the same time, the story tries to establish a grander narrative and further widen the scope, which defeats the more grounded approach of the original series. in the same vein, the retconning of the overall timeline and several character relationships from the original makes the whole scope and current cast dynamics feel Off. a smaller nitpick is that I feel that too many things were explained when I feel the information would've been better left up to the viewer (I watched OSP's video on 'noodle incidents' recently which fits Exactly how I feel here)
elaborating on those last two points, I think the part of the show that bothered me the most was how it handled Deckard, his academic endeavors, and the reactions of other cast members. for starters, I do Not think that we needed to see scenes of Deckard in school. it weakens the impact of his goodbyes from the original series, and contributes the the over-widening of the show's scope and overall weakened focus. also I just thought that one prince guy who I've forgotten the name of was annoying. in terms of the rest of the cast, why did Cas start blaming Bee as if she were upset that Deckard left when she was the one pushing him to go in the original series. what.
anyways, like I said it's been awhile since I watched the show, and would feel bad complaining too much about things I barely remember- so this is where I stop for now. mostly just felt like rambling in any case
I might just be overly-attached to the original series since it's been a comfort for me for Such a long time, but for lazy in space to forego much of what first made me fall in love with the original stings a bit

Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.
AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.
Here are the important details:
We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.
