ichiro - bear hugs 100% and side hugs when cuddling

jiro - bear hug as well, but more reserved than ichiro. loves to pick you up

saburo - quick hug but prefers holding hands

samatoki - arm around the shoulder to greet you, hugs you from behind in public and would hug you at the waist, resting his chin on the top of your head

jyuto - hugs you from behind ALL the time. loves it when you squeak at the sudden contact

riou - does not initiate hugs. usually calls your name to get your attention. however, if you hug him, he will wrap his arms around your shoulders to hug you back.

ramuda - runs and jumps at you in a catcher hug. does NOT care if he pushes you over as a result of the hug. he just wants to get close to you

gentaro - short hug as a greeting. prefers intertwining his fingers with yours as compared to hugging

dice - catcher hug. he would catch you but probably not all the time. doesn't care if the two of you topple and you crash on top of him either. he loves you too much

jakurai - unlikely to hug but if you initiate the hug, he will do a respectful hug where he wraps his arms around your shoulders. likes it when you hug him around his ribs.

hifumi - shocked when you hug him but would happily return the hug in a bear hug. smiles and giggles a lot when you do. would also do a catcher hug when you come home after a long day outside

doppo - one armed hug probably because he's an awkward man...would probably stand there shocked if you try to hug him, resulting in an unreciprocated hug (would probably apologise for being sweaty)

sasara - bear hug 100% as well. he loves you a whole whole lot and would immediately tell you all about his day while still having his arms wrapped around your waist. would also put his arm around your shoulders while talking

rosho - hug at the waist, he especially likes having his hands on your hips (although he may not admit it)

rei - loops his arm around to hook you in closer to him via your waist. loves it when you squeak from the contact as well and WILL grin at you as a result of that. would carry you like a princess. patting hug sometimes

kuko - almost yells at you when you first try to hug him but he slowly opens up to it. unlikely to initiate hugs as well but will wrap his arms around your waist/hips when you do hug him

jyushi - gets flustered when you hug him and exclaims out loud. hates sudden hugs and would prefer it if you asked him for a hug. would awkwardly wrap his arms around your shoulder

hitoya - wraps his arms around your waist and would lean his forehead against yours while hugging. loves slow dancing this way as well

Hey slug, thanks for the hard work you and your team do for the fandom!! me and some friends were discussing this and i thought it would be nice to see ur answer to this (only if it doesn't bother u, of course!!): what characters do you think parents would give a big thumbs up if you introduced them as your partner (in terms of personality and traits)? I personally think Hifumi or Ichiro would be the best son-in-law...

What an entertaining question. Believe it or not, I’ve given the matter some thought before for reasons entirely unrelated to this, so presenting: Hypnosis Microphone Men and Whether or Not You Should Bring Them Home to Your Parents.

Since there’s a wide age range among the cast members, assume that the “you” in question is roughly each character’s age.

Ichirou: Absolutely. This man is objectively a dream boat. Runs his own successful business? Check. Respectful to people of all ages? Check. Cooks? Check. Cleans? Check. Good with kids? Check. Take Ichirou and marry him before your parents marry him themselves.

Jirou: As far as high school boyfriends go, Jirou’s not a bad choice. He’s a sweetheart, popular, plays music. Doesn’t do drugs in the school bathroom. Could have better grades, but hey, you can’t win them all. He seems like he’d have you home by 8 pm. You know what? Sure. Why not? You could do worse.

Saburou: Saburou is the kind of middle school boyfriend that your parents openly like and privately dislike. What I mean is that he’s very polite to most elders and super smart, so he’s the kind of kid who is entirely unobjectionable, but he’s also the kind of kid who would try to mansplain your parents’ jobs to them. Worst of all, he would be entirely correct in what he’s saying. Your parents probably want to punch him, but they don’t because assaulting children is illegal, not to mention immoral. They will breathe a collective sigh of relief when he finally breaks up with you so he can focus on studying for the Science Bowl nationals.

Samatoki: I am so torn on this one. On the one hand, he’s every parent’s worst nightmare. He smokes indoors, has an awful temper, and is a fucking gangster, for pete’s sake. Yet he can also be a sweetheart who cooks for you and does everything to treat you right. I’m really stumped. Probably the best solution, if you’re really wanting to get in on that Aohitsugi ass, is to cut out the middle man and date Nemu instead. She is perfect in every way, so your parents will love her.

Juuto: If your parents watch Antiques Roadshow, then he will have a lot to bond with them about. Otherwise I think he’d be that kind of person who tells stories about himself way too loudly at family dinners, and after he leaves, one of your parents pulls you aside to say, “Your boyfriend’s really kind of an asshole, don’t you think?” I guess date him if you’re okay with your parents thinking you have cruddy taste.

Riou: I feel like the hard part here is luring him out of the woods and into a family dinner, but from there, it should go great. He’s over 6 feet tall. He can cook well. He has a strong sense of purpose and knows what he wants to do in life. Most importantly, he has a wonderful heart AND every survival skill known to man. He will change the oil in your parents’ car, fix the leaky pipe you’ve been meaning to get around to for six months now, clean the hood above the stove, and then swap recipes and heartfelt compliments with whichever parent does the cooking. Who cares if he doesn’t have a stable income? You don’t need that with guns like those. (insert flexing Riou image here)

Ramuda: I’m trying to think about the concept of a) dating Ramuda and b) introducing him to a set of parents, and I’m drawing an utter blank. There is nothing but “???” in my mind. I’m going to hazard a guess that this one would be a terrible idea.

Gentarou: Wow, your parents had no idea you were dating a prince of a tiny little kingdom in the Mediterranean AND a Harvard law graduate AND the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize AND the man who discovered a cure for cancer in an expedition deep into the heart of the Amazon rain forest. Look at you! What a catch. Only attempt this if your parents are gullible.

Dice: As much as I love Dice to death, this one is a no. Your parents do not want you dating a homeless man with a gambling addiction and bad table manners. Plus, the MIL here seems hard to get along with. Nuh-uh.

Jakurai: Absolutely. You’re in your 30s, so your parents are at least middle-aged. Probably they have some joint problems or some back pain. Jakurai can let them kiss that pain goodbye, and in return, they can let him kiss you! A win-win. He also boasts a handsome salary, has a lovely house, and seems like he’d be super respectful in a relationship. Yes. Go. Marry him.

Hifumi: If you’re a girl, you’re probably going to have to sit this round out. If you’re a guy or nonbinary... yeah, you’re probably going to have to sit this round out too. See, if you have a mom, how is Hifumi supposed to meet her? I guess you could... idk... stick a lampshade on her head and expect him not to notice. That could potentially work, but it’d raise a few awkward questions. If you do happen to live in a female-free household, though, you’ve hit upon the golden opportunity to make this man yours. You can replace every instance of the word “wife” in Judy Brady Syfer’s famous essay “I Want a Wife” with the word “Hifumi” and still have it make perfect sense, and it shows.

Doppo: I can’t in good conscience recommend this one. Sure, he’s hardworking and certainly polite enough, but does he have the time to respond to your emotional needs? Hell, does he have the time to respond to his own? If you invited him to family dinner, there’s a good chance that he’d need to work overtime and miss it. He’d apologize and buy you flowers to make up for it, but you know he’d also be worrying about the cost of those flowers, so... is it really worth it?

Kuukou: For some reason, my parents actually like Kuukou (although I think he’s also the only character they know besides Ichijiku), but I don’t think this would hold true for most parents. He sounds good on paper, but he’d probably make a disparaging comment about someone’s ass in the first five minutes. Perhaps if you tape his mouth shut and tell your parents he’s doing a vow of silence, then yes.

Juushi: As far as high school (is he still in high school?) boyfriends go, Juushi’s not that bad either. He’s shy but sweet. Respectful. In a band, but the kind that makes money and doesn’t operate out of someone’s garage. Yeah, you know what? Go for it. You could do worse. Just scroll up on this list if you need proof of that.

Hitoya: Yeah, absolutely. Hitoya has a great career and a fantastic attitude. He doesn’t take shit from anyone but can still be polite in the correct contexts. He also seems like the type who would get into a serious relationship and treat his partner right. Fuck it up. I support your love.

Sasara: Yes. He has the exact type of humor favored by parents of the father variety. Plus, he’s a famous comedian. There is good money to be had right there.

Roshou: Absolutely. Rather shy but very talented, hardworking teacher who obviously puts his heart and soul into his job? Of course. As long as he doesn’t death glare your parents, it will work out fantastically. Plus, he can talk about sports! That’s a thing that parents like, right?

Rei: Absolutely not. You remember last May when your parents answered a call from the IRS telling them they were about to lose all their money unless they gave the nice man on the phone their bank account password right at that very instant? He was the nice man on the phone. Why the hell would you bring this threat into your parents’ home? Look, you’re in your mid-40s. Your parents are getting up in years, and they want to see you settle down and be happy with someone. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is not it. Why are you with Rei in the first place? Is it the fur coat? Listen, you are a grown-ass adult, and you can buy yourself as many fur coats as you want. I believe in you. It doesn’t have to be this way - you deserve better.

"Baby..." Ichiro looked down at his girlfriend who had wrapped her arms around his waist as he tried to leave the house. "I know you'll miss me but I have to leave for this delivery or they'll cut my pay...you know that," he sighed. You pouted, looking up at him with puppy-dog eyes, "Can I come along? I promise I won't get in your way." With a tired sigh, he smiled softly at you and shook his head. "I know you want to come along baby but you know I can't do that, the client would probably hate that." Your pout deepened as you whined, "But you promised to stay at home with me today..." Ichiro placed both hands on your shoulders and pushed you away gently, leaning in to give you a soft kiss on your forehead, "I'll be back real soon okay? In the meantime, you can hug Ichiteddy." He gestured at something on the couch.

You followed your boyfriend's line of sight, landing on the teddy bear that lay on the couch in the living room. Ichiteddy had been a birthday present from Ichiro. Being the clingy girlfriend that you were, he knew that he would never hear the end of it whenever he tried to leave the house and hence decided to get a quick "body double" to keep you company instead. After all, he was kind of tired of sneaking out of the house when you were asleep or busy. You've loved it ever since, sometimes even making it a point to give Ichiteddy all your kisses even though your boyfriend was right next to you. Making him jealous never really worked, however, because you loved your boyfriend too much to not jump into his arms and pepper him with kisses. Occasionally, you would spray Ichiro's cologne onto Ichiteddy, hugging it whenever you felt down or alone.

You sighed, pursing your lips. Dragging your feet over to the couch, you plopped down onto it unceremoniously as you picked up Ichiteddy. Holding it close to your heart, you made a sad wave at Ichiro who was now frowning at you. "I'm sorry my love...I know I made a promise to be with you and everything..." He walked over to where you were sitting, sitting down beside you and leaning in to give you a kiss on the forehead. That dragged out a delightful giggle from your lips and he grinned, happy to see such a smile on his beloved girlfriend's face. "Well...you better be back soon okay?" You muttered, intertwining your fingers with his, "I'll be waiting." He nodded, bringing his lips in close to yours as he gave you a quick peck on the lips, "I know."

Jyuto x Late

Not back yet?…. You glanced nervously at the clock that hung on the wall to your left. 1:30am. You sighed, debating going to bed. Jyuto had texted you about an hour ago, telling you that he’d be back late as something had cropped up at the last moment and he’d ask you to go to bed first. You would have heeded his advice and gone to bed first if it wasn’t for…you frowned, gripping your bolster a little tighter. It was a terrible time to be missing him; thank heavens it was the weekend tomorrow, and you didn’t have to wake up at ungodly hours to go to a job you got paid too little for. His crumpled shirt lay on the floor nearby. You had tried to pull his shirt over your bolster to mimic the presence of your boyfriend but it didn’t work. You missed the feeling of his hands around your waist...you missed being able to bury your face into his chest as he held you tight at night. 

Fiddling with your phone, your fatigued face reflected in the black screen came as a shock to you. If Jyuto saw you like this, he’d certainly carry you into bed like a sack of potatoes and tuck you in so tight you wouldn’t even be able to go to the bathroom if you wanted to. Maybe I should go to bed...your thoughts were interrupted by a click and your head shot up, eyes widening at the doorknob turning. Should I fake being asleep? You watched helplessly as Jyuto’s shoes appeared in the doorway, knowing that it’d be too late for you to feign being asleep now. Sitting upright, you watched as he kicked his shoes off, running a hand through his already messy hair. Maybe he hasn’t noticed me yet? His dark eye circles do seem a lot darker. He’s probably just tired, I mean…his suit is a lot more creased than usual, he’s probably had a rough day, maybe I’ll prepare the bath for h-“Babe, I thought I told you to go to bed without me?” You jolted, leaping up from the couch, “Huh?” You didn’t even realise that Jyuto had been staring at you, a soft but tired smile on his features. He stepped towards you, throwing his workbag onto the couch, “Why’s my baby still awake? Hm?” He shot a look at his shirt on the floor, raising an eyebrow before resting his forehead against yours, allowing his eyes to flutter shut. Linking your arms around his neck, you smiled as he leaned in for a soft kiss. “I missed you. Couldn’t sleep,” you muttered against his lips. He separated from you, sighing as he ran his gloved hand through your hair, smiling at you, “I’m sorry darling. Go to bed first? I’ll just take a quick shower and be right with you baby.” You nod excitedly, running off to the bedroom to prepare a new set of clothes for him.

hello!!! i'd be glad to :) as someone who also gets kinda nervous around men, i'd love to write this!!

The first time he asked you out, the both of you had been really nervous. He was wary about having any physical contact with you as he didn't know how he'd react to it. The two of you walked at a seemingly awkward distance apart, keeping your hands to yourself.

Over time, the distance between the two of you closed and you got comfortable around him enough to slide your hand into his, looking at him with anticipation to see if he'd react badly to it. You saw him jump a bit at the sudden contact and he looked down at you, wide-eyed, but he saw that it was you and he softened, giggling.

He would 100% protect you from men who were making you uncomfortable. He would stand in front of you and confront them (even though it made him a bit nervous without his suit) because he knows that you'd do the same for him.

You would encourage him to try leaving the house without his suit to work on his anxieties and fears, returning home if you saw that it was getting too much for him and giving him space in your shared apartment.

That night would then be spent doing things that he enjoyed and making home cooked meals together

When the anxiety gets too much and either of you get panic attacks, the other party knows EXACTLY what to do

He wouldn't ask you about the history behind your fear until you felt comfortable telling him

When you two first meet...

You two probably met at one of his host events because, somewhat like him, you wanted to try to work on your anxiety through exposure but unfortunately it didn't work out

What with being surrounded by a lot of men who kept wanting you to come out of your shell at the club, it made you overstimulated

The fact that your friends had booked Hifumi for you in a private room made the whole situation even worse because you knew that Hifumi had a reputation for being a womaniser (in his host mode)

He would try to get you out of your shell, thinking you were probably just being a little nervous around him because of his looks until he notices the discomfort in your eyes and your overall anxious disposition and he seems to snap out of his host mode

He takes off his blazer and immediately, he jumps about 3 metres further from you before asking you if you're okay

You recognised that tremble in his voice and his eyes and you shifted a little further from him before telling him that you get uncomfortable around men

He nods, still being really nervous, before asking if there's anything that he can do to make you feel a little better

You ask him if he's okay because he seems to be trembling quite badly and you notice that he's a lot more garbled in his way of speech and he admits to being scared of women as well

You laugh awkwardly, saying that you guess that makes the two of you

You encourage him to put on his suit if it makes him feel better and he shakes his head slightly, saying that it's okay

There's awkward silence for a moment before you try to strike up a conversation with him as you ask him about his division...his work, encouraging him to talk about things that he likes

He opens up a bit more and so do you :)

ramuda gets jealous sometimes because your charm attracts unwanted attention and ramuda is a VERY possessive man

no one understands the couple dynamic

gentaro plays with you A LOT, he would 11/10 prank you all the time, especially with his 嘘ですよs (uso desu yo) and it’ll earn him playful smacks on the head

sometimes he acts cheerful in front of you just to match your character, especially in front of the rest of fling posse (eg he’d whine and be really flirty and cringey on purpose just to watch fp’s reactions)

you giggle a lot on dates, and gentaro may roll his eyes playfully but he ALWAYS smiles at you whenever your back is turned to him because no matter how much he lies you always seem to accept and love him for who he is

puts you into a lot of his stories to make them more lighthearted, and he even made you the protagonist once (the book became very famous after that)

every time hes frustrated he just looks at you and bam !!! his mood improves by a lot because it’s like you said: a tiny ball of sunshine !!

he loves writing about your smile, and how it never fades; about how the sun itself settles into your heart, to shine its beams through the space in your chest

dice never understands how you can be so positive all the time ?? and honestly it really helps him when he’s stuck in a rut because of consecutive losses

he blatantly asks about how you can be so positive: “i don’t understand....”

(i personally cannot answer this question because i’m a very pessimistic person NSJSKSSJ)

soft headpats and confused “HAH?????”s when you tell him you want to go to the beach with no prior warning

drags you into his lap when gambling because he thinks youre his lucky charm and he’ll be less upset when he loses if he sees you smile

when you’re upset he’ll go “babe...” and tug on your shirt softly and he’ll be sad too

if you cry he’ll DEFINITELY cry along with you and if you ask him why he’ll say it’s because seeing you upset makes him upset and he can’t hold it back because he’s just a very soft dumbass like that

this is usually what makes you cheer up because you know that dice cares for you and no matter what he’ll always be there !!!

the moment he sees you’re stressed, he gets stressed

if you start crying he freaks out and starts apologising, and it makes you feel terrible

he takes a deep breath, and tells himself that “y/n needs me right now, so i need to calm down. think about all the things they’ve ever done for you. calm down. calm down.”

he stops panicking but his hands are still shaking when he runs over to you to pat you gently on your back

when you turn to face him with teary eyes and tear stains on your cheek and your eyes searching wildly for comfort, he starts to panic again, all because he never realised how stressed you were till now

there were many signs, such as the increasing number of mental breakdowns, the increased bite marks on your fingernails etc. but he was too blind and caught up in his work to notice

he curses at himself, hating himself for not coming to your side sooner

doppo’s eyes are stable, albeit shaky as he holds the sides of your face gently and tells you, just like how you tell him, that everything will be ok, that he’s here for you, and that you’re free to cry and to let it all go

you break down, and doppo holds you close, pressing your face against his shoulder even though his hands are shaking so very badly

when you’re done he picks you up gently, bringing you away from the work papers strewn all across the dinner table into the bedroom

he sets you down on the bed and tucks you in gently, putting on some tv / relaxing music

“i-i’ll be right back, ok?”

I think it'd be pretty hard for someone with such high and extreme anxiety levels like him to be domestic, especially if he's left alone at home/left alone with children

Canonly he does pretty badly without Hifumi helping him out

If you're sick, he'd try to help out around the house but you might have to get up to help him every now and then because you're worried (and also because you can hear him screaming from the kitchen)

Apologises SO MUCH when he's doing housework, might apologise for dropping clean clothes on the floor

If you're at work then you might receive calls to ask for help/you might also not receive anything AT ALL because he doesn't want to disturb you

In both cases, when you get home you might find a charred pot on the stove and you can't help but laugh through the fatigue because Doppo just looks so distressed sitting in the living room

Yells in euphoria when you get back

"y/n you're BACK!!!"

"Doppo what did you do this time?"

And then he just goes into panic mode but he calms immediately when you put your arms around him

Goes over the problems/basic household chores with him so that he can learn, just in case he has to be a househusband for a day or two

Does surprisingly well with children (mainly because he constantly gives in to them) and most of the time when you get home, both father and child are asleep on the floor (AWWW)

(you've gotten surprisingly strong from having to lug an unconscious Doppo all the way to the bedroom)

It’ll get a bit awkward in the beginning, especially since Jyuto doesn’t seem like the kind who would do well with children 

Jyuto knows that he’s doing a terrible job as a caretaker but he’s really at a loss

Almost gives up until he noticed that the child cries themselves to sleep a lot and all 

It reminds him of when his parents died and so he decided that he’d actually do a better job in being a “parent” of sorts

Begins interacting with the child a lot more, and feels a sense of accomplishment when he successfully makes them smile by buying them soft toys, bringing them out to amusement parks whenever he can etc. 

Starts to smoke a lot less because he knows that it’s bad for the kid 

Secretly signs up for sign language lessons because he understands the whole thing with the childhood trauma

Before he can actually hold a conversation in sign language he communicates mainly via drawings, and it becomes a hobby/habit that the two of them share, just sharing drawings amongst each other. 

Asks Samatoki for help regarding taking care of child 

He has a relatively dangerous job so he can’t bring the child along but he usually drops the child off at (uncle) Riou’s place before leaving for work 

“If you harm the kid I’ll kill you” 

He did bring the child to his workplace once, but then they fell asleep watching him do his paperwork so he ended up spending the entire day just driving around Yokohama and they took the ferris wheel

And honestly ?? The child would have a really fun time at Riou’s, being able to interact with nature, learn survival skills etc. etc. 

Riou communicates mostly by hand actions and by drawing in the dirt with a stick

(They end up having a code drawing for Jyuto and it’s a rabbit with a hawaiian skirt made of leaves; Jyuto doesn’t know though) 

The child is always almost covered in dirt when Jyuto picks them up and he chides Riou for it but the child always looks really happy so he lets it go (although he has to wipe down his car almost every night) 

It may take up to a few years before the child is able to speak again, especially since it’s hard to forget all the neglect they’ve experienced, but Jyuto is determined !!

Ends up adopting the child because he grew attached 

Jakurai 

Probably adopts the child almost instantly because his dad instinct activated almost instantly 

He’d make a pretty great father though 

May not understand what went wrong with the child in the beginning, but he found the child through an old friend of his who was taking care of the child temporarily and was kind of helping them find a home 

The first night Jakurai brings the child home he can feel the anxiety radiating from them so he just holds their hand and smiles really softly at them 

Has probably seen many patients with PTSD so he has some experience to dealing with cases like this 

Although he has never seen such a serious case of child neglect before 

Gives his entire bed to the child and he resigns to sleeping in the couch in the living 

A relatively light sleeper so he wakes up immediately when the realises that the child is awake/having nightmares

Communicates mainly by sign language (i would assume he already knew some) 

Lets the child braid his hair (everyone knows its therapeutic) 

He’d bring the child to a lot more soothing places (eg parks, beach, museums etc.) 

Knows the child missed out on a large part of their childhood and he feels quite bad because he’s a doctor and can’t be with them 24/7

At some point in time he sat the child down and apologised to them and the child ended up crying and :((((( 

Jakurai felt really bad for this but he knew that it had to be said 

When he asked the child if they hated him, he never saw a child shake their head harder and they hugged him (to his surprise) 

He would bring the child to his clinic and let them play with his stethoscope, rubber mallet etc. when there were no patients around (let them play doctor, basically) 

When there were patients he’d let them sit next to him while diagnosing the patients and all 

The child ends up becoming really educated in the medicinal field just from observing Jakurai and when Jakurai asks the child what they want to be in the future they point to Jakurai’s coat on the hanger and sign “I want to be just like Papa” 

This makes him feel really warm and fuzzy inside !! 

Brings the child to psychiatrists as well to see if it helps them to start speaking again

There's no note on it but when you open it it's chicken karaage, a few maki rolls and rice with seaweed, carrots, cucumber and slices of smoked salmon (the rice molded into a cat shape with the carrots and cucumber forming the eyes, designs on the ears, snout and whiskers) while the seaweed is cut out to spell がんばって！(ganbatte, good luck)

You bring it to work and on the way there you receive a message from him to say good luck with a kissy emoji

You eat the bento box for lunch and even takes a selfie with it to send to him

He mostly reads your messages without replying, but he does send you the occasional "How're you doing?"

When you get home you realise that dinner's already been prepared (it's all your favourite dishes!) and he's prepared the bath for you as well
