Update - golive expected soon

Good news on the golive! All main assignment fanworks are ready now, except 1 fanwork which is awaiting some minor edits before approval. Hopefully we will hear back from the creator soon, so we think golive is likely to be sometime on February 3rd as planned since the issues with the remaining fanwork should be a relatively quick fix. 

For clarity:

we won't golive before 11:00am UTC February 3rd, so people definitely have until then to finish treats

we expect golive sometime on February 3rd but it's not 100% certain, just likely to be that day

we will post an update again once the collection is live

Update - golive delayed

Unfortunately, our update on things is we need to delay the golive. We have not been able to make as much progress on approvals as we hoped due to a combination of real life getting in the way and a higher than usual number of issues to deal with in the fanworks we have processed so far. We’ve decided to shift golive to next weekend, with the expected new golive February 3rd - this means the creators reveal will also be bumped a week to February 10th.

We apologize for this second delay, but we've decided to put our physical and mental health first and not rush things. Thank you for understanding.

Update - golive delayed

Unfortunately, our update on things is we need to delay the golive. We have not been able to make as much progress on approvals as we hoped due to a combination of real life getting in the way and a higher than usual number of issues to deal with in the fanworks we have processed so far. We've changed it to this date so that it goes live on a weekend as was originally planned, as well as so we can be confident to get it done in time without causing additional stress to the mods since we're already stressed out from other real life issues. Thank you for understanding.

Outstanding Pinch Hit + Update

To update people on how things are going, we're still hoping to golive at 11:00am UTC on 20th January 2024 as planned, but we can't yet be 100% sure it will be live by then since we need to make sure that everyone has a gift. If everyone has a fanwork at that point we will golive - we will give a further update on the 19th for how likely that is looking. So far, we're waiting on 9 stories due by the 19th and we have 1 outstanding pinch hit that is below which we'd really appreciate any help finding a pinch hitter for. We're also still in the process of doing approvals, which have been delayed due to some real life events getting in the way, but we're working to do them as fast as we're able to.

The deadline for this pinch hit is 11:00am UTC on 19th January 2024, with a possible 24 hour extension if needed as long as you send an update before then to confirm you'll be finished by golive at 11:00am UTC on 20th January.

Because I'm sending the reminder late, I am extending the deadline until later on in the day. Please consider where you are with your assignment and, if you don't think that you're going to be able to finish it by January 13th, make certain to default before the default deadline passes.

As a reminder, if you default prior to the default deadline, you may participate next year without any issues, so long as you have not defaulted two years in a row. If you default after the default deadline, there will be additional requirements depending on when exactly you default.

- You can request/offer 3-10 fandoms - You can request/offer 1-20 relationships per fandom - If you would like to request/offer any nominated relationship, tick the "Any" box - Make certain to choose which medium or mediums you are willing to create for each fandom

Please make sure to familiarise yourself with the updated rules and the minimums for each type of fanwork over here since we have several new fanwork types this year.

Please remember that Any really does mean any. Do not request or offer Any unless you mean it. Any does not mean "any relationships except for these certain ones" or "any relationships involving this character" or "this relationship that I really like but forgot to nominate." It means any relationship whatsoever that was nominated under that fandom and is currently listed in the tag set.

It is fine to include prompts asking that a fourth/fifth/sixth/etc. character be added to the relationship you've requested. (For example, if you requested Harry/Hermione/Ron, you can include a prompt along the lines of: "... and if you want to have Neville join in, that's fine with me!") As with everything included in the Optional Details box or Dear Creator letter, though, please note that any such request is optional. Your creator is only required to create a fanwork for the specific relationship that you matched on.

Under the Requests section of the sign-up, there is a field to put a link to a Dear Creator letter if you have written one. There is also a box for Optional Details where you can put Do Not Wants, prompts, and various other details. While the optional details section of signups is optional, it is strongly suggested that participants include DNWs. Any DNWs or triggers included in the signup itself will be enforced by the mods as long as they are reasonable (ie, something that the mods can easily look for and that isn't extremely subjective).

Any DNWs listed in letters but not the signup itself, as well as any general likes/dislikes/prompts/etc. listed in the signup or in letters, are optional for the creator.

Anyone requesting vids or other visual media is encouraged to list any accessibility requirements they have in their sign-up alongside other DNWs, such as no flashing lights, no fast-moving cuts, no high contrast, no songs by [insert artist here], etc. Please try to at least provide details about general music that you like/dislike as well if you request either vids or fanmixes. Providing aesthetic preferences for visual fanworks (including face claims if applicable for the fandom) is encouraged too, to give the person creating for you an idea of what you like.

For anyone requesting podfics, please indicate whether or not you'd like your own fanworks podficced and gifted to you. If possible, try to provide more information about your likes/dislikes as well so that the person creating a podfic for you can try to make sure the fic they're recording is one that you will enjoy.

When you submit your sign-up, there is also an Optional Details box located under the Offers section. If there is any specific topic, or rating, that is a strong DNW or trigger for you and you don't want to receive an assignment that mentions said topic even as an optional prompt, please provide details in that box. We will do our best to accommodate such requests when doing matching but cannot make any promises. You are also welcome to send an e-mail to the above address, if you prefer.

Nomination Clarifications #2 + Update on Sign-ups Opening

Apologies for the fact sign-ups haven't opened on schedule. We've had some real life issues come up which delayed the nominations processing this week. All nominations have been processed now, except for those we have clarification questions for. Currently, the tagset stands at 670 fandoms and 4334 ships - just 41 ships left from 12 fandoms to process once we have some clarifications.

We will be giving people until 9pm UTC on October 31st to respond to the clarification questions - sign-ups will be open a short while after that deadline, or before then potentially if people gets back to us about all the clarifications earlier. So far no nominations have been rejected, though there are a couple we will be rejecting that are mentioned below. If anyone is seeing any issues with their nominations, or errors in the tagset, please let us know.

For anyone who nominated ships with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds characters in, please can you check we have processed them as expected. Us changing the format midway through nominations meant we had to interpret some of the nominations best we could - we hope we got those correct but we'd appreciate people double-checking them.

If you nominated Jack (Legend)/Madmartigan (Willow)/Sarah Williams (Labyrinth) under crossover - Fandom, we assume based on context that you meant Jack from the 1985 movie "Legend". If not, please let us know but otherwise we'll process it as that if we don't hear back.

If you nominated Raffi Musiker (Star Trek: Picard)/Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Picard)/B'Elanna Torres(ST: VOY) under crossover - Fandom, we will be rejecting this nomination since it already exists in the appropriate category of Star Trek: Classic Timeline as "Raffi Musiker/Seven of Nine/B'Elanna Torres (Classic Trek)"

If you nominated Trisana Chandler/Daja Kisubo/Briar Moss/Sandrilene fa Toren (Emelan) in Baldur's Gate 3 under crossover - Fandom, we will be rejecting this on the assumption you mean that Emelan ship but in a Baldur's Gate AU/Fusion, because the ship is already nominated under the Emelan fandom. You can request it with the prompt of Baldur's Gate AU/Fusion in optional details but we can't guarantee anyone would create that AU rather than simply the ship in the Emelan canon setting.

If you nominated Jack Harper/Vika Olsen/Vika Olsen under Oblivion (2013), please can you confirm which versions of the characters you mean since there are multiple possible. If you nominated Sheltered Young Prince/Prince's Loyal Knight/Prince's Arranged Marriage Husband under Original Work, do you have an expectation for the gender of the knight or will any gender interpretation be okay with you? If we don't heard back from you we will process as it and it will be left up to interpretation.

If you nominated Dr. Gurathin & Pin-Lee & Dr. Ratthi under The Murderbot Diaries - Martha Well, we will be rejecting this nomination because we don't allow &'s for relationships in this exchange, however, the version using all /'s - Dr. Gurathin/Pin-Lee/Dr. Ratthi - is already in the tagset. If the &'s meant you want to request the relationship be asexual/queerplatonic/etc., then that's something to include in your optional details when signing up.

If you nominated Liu Qianqiao/Yu Qiufeng/Yu Qiufeng's Wife under 山河令 | Word of Honor (TV 2021), please can you confirm whether you meant Madame Yu or the general concept of Yu Qiufeng having a wife. If we don't hear back from you we will process it as it is.

If you nominated 999th Lee Jihye/999th/Lee Hyunsung/999th Kim Namwoon/999th Uriel under 전지적 독자 시점 - 싱숑 | Omniscient Reader - Sing-Shong, we assume you meant to write "999th Lee Hyunsung" without the / in the middle, but if not let us know. If you nominated any ships under the fandom DCU, please can you tell us which canon you meant for each ship since that AO3 fandom tag covers multiple DC canons - did you mean DCU Comics, DC Extended Universe, DC Animated Universe (Timmverse), DC's Arrowerse, or another DCU canon? If we don't heard back about them we will assume you meant DC Comics and process them as that.

If you nominated Catman/Deadshot/Ghostmaker under DCU, we also need to know if you meant "Minhkhoa Khan/Floyd Lawton/Thomas Reese Blake" or not. We think those are the right character names based on what we can tell, but we're not familiar with whether those codenames have more than one person possible. If we don't hear back we'll process as "Minhkhoa Khan/Floyd Lawton/Thomas Reese Blake".

If you nominated any ships under the fandom Dune - All Media Types, can you confirm you are fine with the fact you may get any canon interpretation for the characters, from books, TV miniseries, either movie, or games. If you want to change any of the ships to a specific canon source, let us know, otherwise we will process as All Media Types if we don't hear back.

If you nominated Princess Badoura/Her Husband/Her WIfe under Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms, please can you confirm whether you meant specific characters (such as the unnamed husband character or possibly Prince Camaralzaman) or the general concept of Princess Badoura having any husband and wife. If we don't hear back from you we will process it as "Princess Badoura/Princess Badoura's Husband/Princess Badoura's Wife" leaving it up to interpretation.

If you nominated the fandom Higurashi no Naku Koro ni | Higurashi When They Cry, can you confirm which canon source you meant since there are several. If we don't hear back we'll assume the video game.

If you nominated the fandom Spyro the Dragon (Video Games 1998-2005), could you explain why it's nominated for the 1998-2005 games specifically. Some of the ships for it seem to be include characters from the later reboot game series and since we're not familiar with the fandom we don't know if the reboot games are another canon entirely or whether changing the fandom to a more general Spyro the Dragon (Video Games) would be okay. If we don't hear back we'll assume it's okay to do the more general fandom title.

If you nominated the fandom Umineko no Naku Koro ni | When the Seagulls Cry, can you confirm which canon source you meant since there are several. If we don't hear back we'll assume the video game.

If you nominated any ships under the fandom The Vampire Diaries & Related Fandoms, please can you tell us which canon source you meant for each ship since that AO3 fandom tag covers multiple sources. We did accidentally approve this fandom, so it's in the tagset already. If we don't hear back from people about changing their nominated ships to a more specific canon source we will treat this fandom similar to an All Media Types fandom, meaning you may get any canon interpretation for the characters, from the books, TV show, or video game.

If you nominated Jack Harper/Vika Olsen/Vika Olsen under Oblivion (2013), we're assuming one of the Victoria "Vika" Olsen's is the clone version of her mentioned on wikipedia for the film, but please can you confirm in case there's more versions of her character we're not aware of. But also which Jack Harper is this - Tech 49 or Tech 52 version?

If you nominated Sheltered Young Prince/Prince's Loyal Knight/Prince's Arranged Marriage Husband under Original Work, do you have an expectation for the gender of the knight or will any gender interpretation be okay with you?

If you nominated any ships under the fandom DCU, please can you tell us which canon you meant for each ship since that AO3 fandom tag covers multiple DC canons - did you mean DCU Comics, DC Extended Universe, DC Animated Universe (Timmverse), DC's Arrowerse, or another DCU canon?

If you nominated any ships under the fandom The Lord of the Rings - All Media Types, can you let us know which ships are yours and why you nominated them under All Media Types, since usually we ask people to specify whether they mean Middle Earth – J.R.R. Tolkien or Middle Earth (Movies) or The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (TV 2022). If you do want to nominate under all media types you will need to accept you may get any canon interpretation for the characters. If you want a ship with a mix of characters from different LOTR canons, then crossover - Fandom would allow you to specify what LOTR canon source for each character.

Star Trek nominations update

Advice for how to submit ships with characters that are in both Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been updated in the nominations open posts, to the following:

"For ships that include characters that are in both Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we will assume the TOS version is meant by default - if you want to specify the SNW version please add "(SNW)" after the character name(s) to differentiate from TOS version, e.g. "Christine Chapel (SNW)/Spock (SNW)/T'Pring (SNW)". If the ship has a mix of TOS and SNW character versions, please add SNW or TOS in brackets after each of the character names that need clarification."
