there’s a decent amt of neurologists who’ve called the sleep schedules we’re obligated to be on despite flagrant conflict with our natural circadian rhythms “borderline torture” and the work hours we’re expected to put in despite the fact that the average person can only maintain maximal efficiency and focus for 3 hours at a time “nearly inhumane” and i think about that a lot

I met Tom Hiddleston for the second time last Sunday and… did he seem off to anyone else?? Like… something happened that rattled him? When I went to get his autograph he had this thousand-yard stare and seemed almost shell-shocked. My mom initially brought it to my attention and looking back on it, I tend to agree. I did see a LOT of people getting him to sign photos he took with them and they were VERY touchy-feely with him (borderline assault) and idk if that had something to do with it, but he just seemed really off. Idk, maybe I’m crazy (also wtf we’re with the autograph prices?? An extra $100 to have him write an additional message up to eight words?? And we didn’t even get to choose??? I’ve NEVER had an autograph experience like that where it was so obvious the con was milking every single penny they could from attendees. Like I understand the extra fee to sign something other than a photo, but not even having the photos at the table was WILD)

i remember when elementary first came out and bbc sherlock fans were saying elementary's sherlock was OOC becuz he wasn't an asshole just becuz he was compassionate to victims and people suffering hard circumstances

putting the claims of OOC-ness aside, but it's clear they actually didn't watch or didn't pay attention becuz elementary's sherlock is absolutely an asshole. he is arrogant and entitled and rude and aggressive to people who impede his investigations even if they are also victims and hostile to his brother for no discernible reason

the difference from bbc's sherlock is that elementary's sherlock actually has consequences for this behavior. it strains his relationships, it gets him fired from his job, it gets him into legal trouble, it hinders his investigations, it gets his friend shot

we're used to modern adaptions of sherlock prancing around being callous and inconsiderate to everyone around him and ppl grudgingly putting up with it becuz, well, he's a eccentric genius what can you do

elementary's sherlock is compassionate to people who've suffered becuz he knows what it's like to suffer, but he's also an unmitigated asshole, he just doesn't get a free pass on it

We can't just phase out all the church attendance and all the usamerican social holidays cold turkey in the middle of a loneliness epidemic bro like yeah fuck church fuck thanksgiving and FUCK the 4th of July but like what's the long-term plan. People need holidays and repetitive social rituals or they go crazy. Like are we inventing new ones or ....?
