So I'm having difficulty actually justifying

Spending any time on fanart, personal art, gift art or anything else that’s not directly related to making money. So in an attempt to rectify that at least marginally…here’s what I’m doing.

Special Commissions: Hands off

My usual prices can be seen here And that kind of commission is still open. Right now though, I’m offering a special kind of commission…’Hands off’ commissions, where my usual prices will be discounted up to 50% off the standard fee.

What’s the catch?

Hands off commissions are exactly what it says on the tin…You pay the fee, tell me the who and the what (and provide reference) and then…You wait. For ordinary commissions, I communicate with the client from beginning to end to ensure full satisfaction…That slows me down considerably.

So what are the benefits of this type of commission?

-Lower prices! A commission that would usually cost $21.50 USD would cost $12.50 instead!

-Greater artistic freedom usually results in a better end result

-You get your artwork faster because I’m not being slowed down by having to ask for confirmation at every phase.

-The possibility of added features…free. If I feel like adding a simple background or colouring an image that was commissioned as a black and white piece, the commissioner won’t be responsible for any additional fees.

What are the cons of this type of commission?

-You have no control over the creative process past the initial ‘prompt’ though I will stay true to the original concept of the commissioner.

-Once the work is completed there will be no refunds…That’s the risk you take

Valerie rose from her seat as well, raising her arms above her head to stretch her back out. "Hmm... what else do you got around here?" She asked, glancing at the different machines. 

“Can you tell me what it is you're afraid of?”

Valerie forced herself to take a couple bites of her food, more for show than anything else. "Mmhmm," She hummed around her fork. She swallowed her mashed potatoes, with a bit of a grimace. "Or at least, I usually just try to find a place wherever I can. Today wasn't too hard. Most everyone is outside, enjoying the nice weather."

She arched an eyebrow. "Which brings me to wonder... why are you sitting here? I mean... I know you're sort of new here... but being part of the school newspaper, surely you have your finger on the pulse enough to know I'm kinda persona non grata around here anymore."

"Hey, Val. I missed class yesterday, what did we do in Biology?"

"Hmm?" Valerie looked up, arching an eyebrow at Elliot. "Oh… Not much. A lot of it was just review of the last week, since there’s a test coming up at the end of the week. Though we did start going over the anatomy of a cell… here, I’ll let you borrow my notes."

She dug around in her backpack for a moment, before passing over a small sheaf of papers. “Sorry about my handwriting. I was… a little distracted in class at the time.”

Valerie chuckled at his words, then blinked a little as, instead of shaking her hand, he gave it a squeeze and lifted it to press his lips to the top of it. She flushed a little, but managed to laugh it off. "Well, I wasn't expecting such a gentlemanly admission of defeat." She teased., though her hand lightly squeezed Danny's back. "But thank you. That was fun."

Valerie turned to Danny, a genuine smile on her face as she accpeted his hand. "Not too bad for a first timer, huh?" She asked, before arching an eyebrow. "You let me win, though, didn't you? That crash seemed pretty convenient to me."

Valerie was leaning as close to the wheel as she feasibly could, all her weight focused on pressing on the gas peddle. They inched closer and closer...

And suddenly they were across the finish line. For a moment it was almost impossible to tell who won, but after a moment the camera broke off to follow directly behind the winner.

On Valerie's part, she finally realized just how hard she had been gripping the steering wheel, and was slowly trying to peel her hands off of it, flexing her fingers. "Whoa... heh... I think I can see why you guys get so addicted to these things..."

it was the home stretch, and Valerie was doing the same. The vehicles were practically side by side at this point and she was just focused on getting to the finish line that she couldn't actually tell who was in the lead, it was simply too close. Just a couple feet more...

Valerie was bound and determined now to catch up, and she ended up mimicking Danny's position, biting down on her lip as she concentrated, a grin at the corners of her lips. Just a little closer...

Valerie saw her chance and took it, trying to race past while Danny was still trying to correct his mistake. "Come on... come on...!" She muttered to herself, her eyes nearly shining with that competitive spirit.

With each turn she was figuring out the controls better and better, and was using that to try and slowly catch up. She didn't figure she'd win this round, but maybe she wouldn't loose as spectacularly as she had first figured.

Valerie snorted, still trying to catch up. "Hey, shove it, Ghost Boy. This is my first time playing this thing," She replied as she tried to copy Danny's movements, with limited success.
