After a very long two days of being disrespected, argued with, and blown off by my students, I'm so incredibly frustrated with the state of education in the United States.
I **want** to help my kids. I truly care about them and want to foster inquiry and knowledge in them, to help prepare them for their future, and yet I constantly feel like I to fight to even do that.
If its not fighting an overloaded too fast standards and standardized testing system, bureaucratic red tape on the administration and political side, or simply the overloaded schedule and to do list of my life as a teacher. Then its me having to push a student who literally refuses to learn in my class to explore new cultures.
I even tried dedicating a day for students to think about their future and just have fun thinking about what they liked to do outside of school and work. I still got push back and over half of the class blew off the assignment.
I know there are kids I've helped and I know I'll still help more, but I **hate** the spot I am in right now with my classes. No matter how much scaffolding, they won't talk to each other for group activities. I get complaints during game-based learning because it's "not fun."

In the early 70s Sesame Street was created with an eye towards educating poor, inner-city children for free, and became a massive hit with all children. In 2016, faced with going off the air forever after facing conservative efforts to destroy public broadcasting since basically its beginning, new episodes became a timed exclusive for premium cable network HBO. In 2022 HBO Max, newly merged with and taken over by reality TV channel Discovery, removed Sesame Street episodes and spin-offs from streaming as a tax write-off and scheme to avoid paying residuals.

honestly really sexy of tumblr to keep follower numbers private. how many people are following me? you'll never know unless I tell you. maybe it's a million, or a thousand, or five, or maybe it's just you. maybe you're the only one here, all by yourself, unable to see if there's anyone standing next to you.
and you'd never know, because status here is based on opinion and not numbers; how popular you think someone is is a vibes-only calculation, and besides the chronological algorithms-optional feed, it's genuinely the best thing tumblr's ever done.

Hello tumblr! I am looking to connect with other history buffs and teachers as I decorate my first ever classroom! I am teaching AP Human Geo and World History I (pre-history to the Renaissance) and I really want to push perspective and representation in my decor. I have some general content poster idras, but I'd love some recommendations!
