sick of seeing hate thrown towards “baby gays.” let them wear rainbows. let them wear their pride flags like capes. let them make jokes about their identity and talk about it all the time. let them wear tails and puppy ears. let them do what is constantly deemed as “cringe.” let them be excited about finally being able to express their true selves. they deserve it. we all deserve it.

The burden of proof required for atheists vs christians is so fucking unfair lmaoo A christian can claim they know all the truths of god, the universe, the afterlife, the meaning of life, and how everyone should live because a book written by people in the Iron Age told them and they feel it in their heart. Meanwhile, if you’re an atheist you just have a lack of belief in a god and are expected to support it with 1000 sources, a Stephen Hawking level understanding of physics and space time, a phd in bioevomathematicphysicscosmology, and if you dare not have a perfect answer to every single question that could ever be asked about the universe then that’s used as “proof” that you’re wrong and it must be god. The god of the gaps has people in a chokehold.

I’m in my astrophysics era, did you know some of the hydrogen atoms in your body have existed in their current state since the Big Bang? You are more than stardust, bitch, you are the universe. Stand the fuck up. Bits of you have existed since the laws of physics we know started governing our universe 13.8 billion years ago and you’re worried about Instagram? The universe doesn’t fret itself over made up beauty standards or capitalism. The universe does, however, need water. So go drink some water. And then go be.

“Find meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesn’t have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesn’t have to be a walk during which you’ll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or don’t find meaning but “steal” some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesn’t make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be.”
— Albert Camus, from Notebooks, 1951-1959

I’m going to see Hozier live soon, and I had a moment just now where I realized how awesome it feels to be able to enjoy music and art guilt free :’) I grew up Baptist and then was in a christian cult for 4 years. During that time it was drilled into me that secular music is “of the world”and full of sin. That it didn’t make god happy. That it was tainting my spirit. This prevented me from fully appreciating and understanding art and different perspectives and it made me chronically riddled with guilt any time I was enjoying music that wasn’t christian music.
Now I have the freedom to fully feel, understand, delve into different forms of art. Roadblocks that prevented me from seeing and feeling the emotional depth of art are gone. And it’s made my human experience a lot more rich and vivid.

growing up queer and religious is something i'm still trying my best to put into words. for years, i was seriously convinced god hated me because i hadn't been like others while not being able to point a finger at what exactly it is that makes me feel so different. as if my essence was rotten and there were no ways to change it. but maybe if i prayed more?? if i lost myself for him?? if i wrecked my rancid nature, would he come and save me, too??
