Bear in mind folks, Aethy is not the only Mastodon instance in the world, and through the magic of ActivityPub any instance which is not blocked on your instance can be interacted with. You can even live on mastodon.social, while following people on aethy. On my aethy I have followers on mastodon.social, pawoo, baraag, and a couple of smaller ones.

This means though you absolutely will need to make use of the filters, but that should be nothing new to people used to tumblr. Baraag users rarely if ever use a CW or mark their images sensitive, for example.

Also, you don't have to be on an actual Mastodon instance, but it helps, since I don't think you can follow a specific tag if you're on Friendica and expect content from Mastodon.

Took a look at Aethy. This is in the rules.

I didn't know even Reiji could come out a better person. Wasn't it more than heavily implied at some point that he has bad intentions with Rin in the anime?

I must admit it's been quite some time since I last read through the manga, but I believe that implication is there too. However as far as I remember, manga!Reiji is portrayed as somewhat less extreme than anime!Reiji. The dude still has serious issues, but he's not as violent or dangerous in the manga. Mimi, Aoki, and Rin are all a big part of his salvation.

What are the major differences between the Kojika anime and manga?

The biggest difference is obviously the length, which feeds into everything else. The anime over all 17 episodes (original 12-ep TV, "What you gave me" DVD Special, Summer Time OVA, 4-ep Ni-Gakki OVA) only reaches to about chapter 30 at most, and along the way leaves a lot out and also fabricates completely new material (the second half of TV EP5 is completely new, and REIJI PAANCH never happened, for example). The manga, meanwhile, is 95 chapters long.

Overall though the anime does keep with the spirit of the manga. Most things in it still make sense. There's even a scene in the Summer Time OVA which IMO is handled better there, because the manga just threw in a dick joke for no good reason and the anime skips it.

The manga's length really just lets you see everyone--especially Rin--grow as people. Aoki and Reiji's relationship is more complex, to say nothing of Aoki and Rin. Rin fights against adult hypocrisy, and puts herself in danger to help someone she doesn't know. Kuro's mommy issues are never even mentioned in the anime. Mimi... eventually learns to express herself, I guess.

There's just a lot more to learn, and love, about these girls. Nobody's perfect in the manga, not everyone gets a happy ending (poor Kuro), but everybody comes out of it a better person in the end (yes, even Reiji).

10 Rin Things

So, I used to be part of a waifuist community. I guess you folks here call it selfship. I love Rin but I don't really ship myself with her. In my mind, she belongs to Aoki. I would like to belong to her. But anyway.

One of the things that circulated for a while in that community was "Write 10 things about your waifu that you love without saying she's cute". That idea really resonated with me, so I thought I might share this, plus maybe introduce/remind the self-ship community here about the idea. So here's 10 things I love about Rin, without saying she's cute.

Her lewd sense of humor.

The way she cares for her friends. She'll go to great lengths for them.

Her abilities as a student and athlete, and her drive to excel.

Her playfulness. She never forgets how to have fun.

The tenderness she shows for her loved ones.

Her dedication to her love. She waits for years for Aoki and never strays.

Her thoughtfulness. She may act on a whim sometimes, but she's often reflecting on her actions, and have thoughts of others driving her.

The many facets of her character, the way she represents all the "Three Faces of Eve" -- the child, the seductress, and the mother are all present in her.

Her willingness to put herself in harm's way not just for her friends, but for all of those around her.

Most of all, I love how she has grown as a person and overcome her inner demons to become a wonderful young woman that deserves every bit of love and respect I can give.

Oh, and she's cute too.

Well... this got a little long!

I may collect dvds/blurays (even VHS back in the day) but I actually don't often rewatch--many of my dvds are still in the shrinkwrap, even. So, most of these things, I have only seen once.

I'm gonna sort this into categories...might or might not be sorted within categories though.

The stuff I really liked:

Kodomo no Jikan (obvs.)

Yeah like I said in replies I've been kicking around the idea of writing a full-blown essay on Kojika, just because it's so common for people to get the wrong idea about it. Honestly, I can understand, the anime does a poor job presenting it as anything more than what would be a run-of-the-mill ecchi... if it weren't about 9/10 year olds. You barely get a hint of the real story underneath all that ecchi. I highly recommend reading the manga.

Strawberry Panic (I am all about the yuri. All about it. I need to rewatch this some day.)

Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl (I've actually rewatched this at least once, but it was quite a while ago. Recently watched a special that I didn't know existed, maybe I should rewatch the series proper too)

Happy Sugar life (Of course I've mentioned before, how much I love Satou/Shio)

Ichigo Mashimaro (It's just super cute ok?)

Saki (I've watched all of the animes, even the side-story one about a different school's team. Lesbians playing Mahjong, what's not to love)

Eromanga-sensei (Sagiri is cute as fuck.)

Chobits (Chii is adorbs)

Elfen Lied (I want to hug Nyuu and Mariko and ship Nana and Mayu..)

Higurashi no naku Koro ni

“Long” -- haha, (Laughs in Pretty Cure). Well ok, Original + Kai is 50 eps which is an average Precure series. But then there's Gou + Sotsu for another 39 eps, making a total of 89, which is reaching LOGH territory! The good news is the rest are skippable specials, not needed if you want to understand what's going on in Gou. Gou/Sotsu btw is done by a different studio, with designs by Akio Watanabe and more like the original VN. Personally though.. I think the 2006 DEEN design of Rika was cuter.

Heaven's Lost Property (haven't seen all of it yet either. Nymph cute tho. I wish there were more pettans. The lead is kind of a turd though)

Mayo Chiki (I like “bifauxnen”, that I do.)

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan (Actually watched this just last year and found it fairly good... I kinda want more.)

Cookie for the reference! Anyway I guess it's about time I posted an “About Me” thing. It really took me a while to figure out just what I wanted to put into such a post.

I am...an older (people call us Xennials) anime fan who first came to tumblr primarily to try and keep up with an artist I first met on twitter. Since twitter is a dumpster fire I decided maybe I would start posting here the kinds of things I would post on twitter, minus the uh.. NSFW stuff, which is apparently verboten here. (You can find me on Aethy.com if you want to see it...same username) Mainly, that consists of screencaps of Koikatsu, where I pose and dress up some character I like...usually Rin Kokonoe from Kodomo no Jikan.

Speaking of Rin and Kojika, I love Rin, and Kojika is basically my favorite manga. L0li-Onee is basically my favorite thing in the world, and my second favorite manga is Yuzumori-san. So, yeah, I like l0li, but mainly from a softcore or yuri perspective.

I guess you could say I am #proship, considering the above. I never really put much thought into it, but I'm not about to harass people over their ships. Don't throw stones from glass houses y'know? Most I would do is ignore/mute someone if they made me uncomfortable.

Anyway TLDR, what you will find here:

Rin x Trails

So, one thing I did a lot of in koikatsu was put Rin in the outfits of various characters from the Trails/Kiseki series (Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel, etc.) Here's Rin as Musse from Cold Steel 3. She blinked just as I took it, but I figured it was fitting since Musse is smug, and the expression looks smug.

And here's Rin cosplaying best girl Fie Claussel, wearing Fie's CS3 outfit.. I don't have a good version of Fie's superior CS2 outfit. :(

Friend disappeared

The first friend I made on tumblr disappeared, and I'm bummed because I don't know why. Did they self-nuke, or get nuked for content? I think their blog was pretty SFW. They posted under pro ship and loved Happy Sugar Life and Satou/Shio, but there was nothing remotely lewd on the blog. At least, not that I saw.

Or maybe it's a tumblr error and they're not actually gone?

I guess I'll add the pro ship tag here in case anyone listening there might know if xsatou-matsuzakax was nuked or just left
