Orellia’s ending in Retri is the Mortum betrayal 😔 I love how anger is treated in the game. There’s a reason for it—Orellia is not an angry person by nature, she’s an emotional one.

Her silly, caring and mischievous side really show through when she’s Blue Jay or rather when she’s with Mortum. It’s because Mortum makes her feel safe. She doesn’t have to constantly looking over her shoulder or worried Mortum will make her uncomfortable—so there’s no reason to put on the angry front.

However, because of the ending she got the only person she’s chosen to rely on has turned on her. It’s very reminiscent of how she feels she and Julia ‘ended up’. Not to mention the very scary part of being locked up in a lab again…and then there’s her ‘cloth mother’ puppet that has abandoned her too—and she is adamant, ADAMANT, she has done nothing wrong to him. So she is feeling extra hurt.

So yes Orellia right now feels very alone and defenseless. Her relationship with the rangers is pretty strained—the Ranger with the highest relationship is actually Chen! (Mortum has the highest overall ☺️ well…Blue Jay I guess…) both Julia and Daniel are afraid of Starving Man—Argent considers her a nemesis, Chen is just confused haha.

As of now? The only ‘person’ Orellia trusts is Rat King! As👏🏼she👏🏼should 👏🏼

That's Ruben (Hollow Ground) and River at the right, my main Sidestep 💕🌸

You see, Riot (River's villain persona) is a decent villain. An anarchist, fighting for Justice, tries to save people, warns Ochoa to stay safe... But as a person, he's a piece of shit. He can be a good-ish friend, but he's drawn to toxic environments and dynamics like a moth does the light because he doesn't how to get close to someone either way.

I see a parallel between his possible relationship with Ortega and Hollow Ground, because, to me, HG and Ortega are characters that disregard other people's boundaries or autonomy wishes.

Hollow Ground's own disregard is more obvious cause of the whole manipulation thing, but in River's case, he's subconsciously encouraged Ortega to make them think they should disregard those boundaries/be a pushover cause gods know River won't enthusiastically engage in a social interaction.

Yes, he is mad when people overstep. But he is EXPECTING them to overstep and I think he would get angrier or would think that either HG or Ortega don't give a shit about him if they didn't do so.

Which is not... A very healthy dynamic. But it's the only one he knows.

Also love me a good found family trope, especially if it's toxic siblings dynamic.
