Dev Update..?

This month been a whirlwind, but the biggest reason why I've been inactive is because… my laptop died. I (really) tried not to panic too much and waited until there's no hope before saying anything.

Fortunately, I managed to recover my files! But my laptop's still dead. I had to find a way to acquire a PC somehow since I also need it for work.

Long story short, things are kind of okay now and I'll get back to writing again come May (just finishing up work backlogs).

There's not much progress this month, but hey at least I didn't lose those precious docs forever… especially since there's so much info there + it's already outlined, that would suck, so bad.

On a lighter note, here's a little piece of info on what's to come:

A

Generally, A rarely defines their relationships, preferring the ambiguity of it all. However, when it comes to MC, they tend to hover between a desire for clarity and uncertainty.

At times, A secretly wishes MC would state their relationship out loud, just so they could hear the words from their lips. But then again, A isn't sure MC is even interested enough to put a label on it. So, rather than bring up the subject and risk losing what they have, A is content with letting things remain ambiguous.

L

L is probably just as clueless. They won't notice how their voice becomes softer around MC, nor will they notice the small glances; the subconscious need to always stay in MC's line of sight, and the protective nature they exhibit whenever MC shows a sliver of vulnerability.

It's only when A points out the changes that L will question their own feelings. After some self-reflection they'll accept their blossoming fondness. And after countless nagging from A, they'll muster the courage to finally ask MC out on a real date.

J

Honestly, J turns into a big ball of softness when MC is involved. Their usual stern and serious demeanor melts away around them and is replaced by a gentler version of J.

Even if they have an inkling that MC is unaware of their relationship, J will patiently wait for MC to come to this realization. J respects MC's pace, content with whatever intimacy they offer them. They're comfortable knowing that their company is important enough to warrant the silent gestures of care.

How would the RO's react to an MC who usually puts minimal effort into their appearance pulling out all the stops and showing up absolutely gorgeous for some formal event that they were required to go to?

L would choke on their drink. Jaw dropping as they stare shamelessly. Once MC catches them, L would stutter, failing to form complete sentences, unable to look at them in the eye.

J would look away and pretend not to look. But their sharp, calculating eyes would follow MC the entire night, observing how heads turn wherever they walk by.

A would stop everything and stare, frozen to the spot. Their gaze lingers appreciatively, before being caught by MC. They quickly compose themself with a cough, acting unaffected and cool.

Hi, can you tell us what can MC do with their power? You don't have to go into too much detail, if it's going to be a bit spoilery. I was just curious what we can expect MC to be able to do. Thanks.

MC will eventually meet a begrudging professor whose fire weaving bloodline has an affinity to lightning. They'll be taught the basics and MC can focus on learning one of two lightweaving styles (the art of weaving is done through martial arts):

Style 1 (long-range)

Focuses on fluid and graceful movements that mimic swirling patterns. MC learns to channel their lightning through footwork and sweeping arm motions, weaving their energy into arcs and spirals for powerful concentrated lightning attacks.

Prioritizes agility, precision, and long-range combat proficiency. MC trains to evade attacks while simultaneously launching lightning strikes at their opponents.

Employs a more evasive and strategic approach to combat.

Excels in long fights.

Style 2 (short-range)

Focuses on powerful and explosive strikes that harness the raw force of lightning. MC learns to concentrate their lightning into their fists, amplifying the impact of their punches with thunderous blasts of energy.

Prioritizes strength, endurance, and close-quarters combat proficiency. MC trains to deliver devastating blows that can shatter defenses and incapacitate opponents with concussive force.

Employs a more forceful and aggressive approach to combat.

Excels in quick fights.

I don't know what to name these yet... I'm open to suggestions!

If they're smart enough—MC will also get some opportunities to incorporate science into their element during downtime and develop their own techniques

Hi, I just stumbled across this blog and have been reading through it after playing the demo (it was great btw) and I saw the poll for poly or love triangle which I've a suggestion about. Since the poll was pretty evenly split only a couple % difference between the two if your main concern with having both is the extra work you could possibly use shared events between the two with some variation depending on which route a reader is on (but less than if you made two whole events). Along that line of though with routes that would be an easy way to let readers who don't want poly in the game at all to block it out at the beginning of the game or early on. Yes eventually once the actual romance starts the shared events wouldn't work but if you make the poly romance be slower burn you can line it up so the LT ends around the same point the poly would start keeping a similar workload for you. Of course I don't know exactly how you envision the poly or LT so maybe this wouldn't work but since your main concern seemed to be keeping an achievable amount of variation and work for the RO routes this could possibly be a way to do it without drastically increasing the load.

If you wanted to be even more cautious about burning out or overburdening yourself, you could also simply mark the spots in the code where poly variation would go and come back once you're further along and have better grasp of the work it would involve to decide if including both is actually doable or not. Marking potential poly variation acts as a way to gauge the possible work load whilst also serving as a guide for getting started on it if you decide to include it without as much re-reading through the text to find place to include variation.

Actual romance starts around Chapter 3 or 4, so the path storylines are still in the drafts since I'm focusing on finishing Chapter 1 atm. For now, I'm just sprinkling seeds here and there so they'll bloom in the future.

But I'll totally keep the poly paths in mind when I get there. I envisioned it to be quite different from the LT route—that's why I'm a little hesitant to do both. I'll give everyone an update when the time comes.

L's eyes shine bright under the dim moonlight, pupils widening slightly—perhaps taken aback or surprised. You can't tell, not in the dead of the night, not beneath the blanketed darkness. Instead, you simply wait, watching the emotions stir behind their hazel gaze, the corners of L's mouth upturning as warmth returns to their cheeks.

Their fingers curl lightly around your sleeve, and L's lips part, the barest hints of a reply hanging upon the edge of their tongue, poised to spill free, only to falter. A slight, amused chuckle leaves them instead, tilting their head as a soft grin plays across their features.

"You sap," they tease, the gentlest edges of their voice colored fondly.

A

A's eyebrows rise, the barest traces of surprise reflected amidst their sky-blue irises. Their gaze flickers across yours, their lips pursing shut. A holds your words at length; studying them, analyzing them, carefully picking apart each syllable, each inflection. And then, the faintest hue of pink colors the tips of their ears, and A averts their eyes, their grip on your sleeve tightening, almost possessive.

"...Live for yourself too."

Your breath stills, A's reply carving deep, embedding itself upon the confines of your chest—heavy, weighted, but not stifling, not burdensome.

Instead, A's words settle; a realization, a reassurance, a grounding comfort that fills you with a sense of warmth.

J

J blinks, before glancing away sharply, the tips of their ears coloring red. They shift their weight, shoulders grazing against yours ever so slightly—comforting, reassuring, the barest hints of a returned embrace.

Their fingers trace against the back of your hand, featherlight touches tracing against the scars that mar your knuckles. J's touch settles, their palm resting upon the pulse of your wrist, feeling the rhythmic thrum of your rapid heartbeat.

They refuse to look up, choosing instead to keep their gaze trained forward; but their presence remains, and their hand lingers, interlaced snugly between yours, firm, unwavering.

Are we the only lightning weaver or are there others in our school? Also is it just the lightning itself that we control or could we possibly create storms too?

Also do the deities have a say in how their blessings are used?

If you’re familiar with Avatar: The Legend of Aang/Korra—the concept of weaving is heavily inspired by the show :D

The main elements are fire, water, earth, and air. Those who can weave sub-elements of the four like ice, metal, etc. are mostly pure-bloods.

Other lightweavers exist yes, but even so their main element will always be fire. They can’t tap into lightning’s full potential like MC can—whose main element is lightning.

MC is one of the few chosen, people who have been blessed with a unique sub-element as their primary weave...

That’s all I can say for now. ;D

And yes it is just lightning/electricity itself, so no generating storms unfortunately.

Normally, deities don’t have control over their chosen, so they choose carefully on who they pick; only the ones with potential to grow into a long bloodline. They have to because it’s a limited ability; it’s literally their life and power source.

But not every deity has the same capabilities, like the chosen, they have their own anomalies too.

They have their own drama up there 👀

New 20k words of content just dropped, bringing the game to 50k! Each playthrough is around 22k~ words with mini paths to explore.

I tried to edit this as much as I could, but with the new amount of branches I'm starting to get cross-eyed after re-reading the game so many times. As always feedback is always welcome! I'm having some trouble in linking scenes together with code. So if there are parts where it seems weirdly formatted or abrupt, please let me know in the forums.

IMPORTANT: Please use a new save! A lot has changed since the last update so it's most likely broken. The game passed both the quick and random test, so if you encounter any errors please make sure you didn't use an old save before reporting game breaking bugs.

Quick Dev Update!

Hello! It's been a while.

I've been writing on and off for the past 2 weeks. Still, progress has been good. 1st week was mostly about worldbuilding, and the 2nd writing.

Some scenes were re-written to reflect changes made to the setting (just the kingdoms - idk what was I even trying to do - everything’s in Bayu now), particularly the prologue and the tour part where you ask questions for max angst :D

I'm now working on J and the stray pet's official meeting with MC. It's taking more time with the amount of branching for both the dog and cat paths, but man is it fun to write!

Stats were also re-worked, and I made a fun little system that I'm excited to use in the near future,,,

3rd week will be spent on finishing the scene, and the 4th coding it into CSIDE. Wordcount wise, it might not be as long as the last update, but there are some pretty cool developments in the upcoming content so…
