Sweat beaded off Tori’s chest as she did her thing in the middle of the dance floor, alcohol coursing through her system as she rolled her body to the groove of the song, commanding as much attention as possible in her tiny printed dress. She was on a high when the song finally came to an end, signaling it was time to quench her thirst, catch her breath. “You don’t know what you’re missin’ out there, babe” she sang, a slight slur to her words as she leaned forward against the bar. 

This was not what Logan had in mind when decided to cover the entertainment portion of the newspaper for the week. His articles were always about very different topics, controversial ones about politics and economy. What bar to frequent on Friday nights was entirely out of his comfort zone and so when he found himself in the middle of dancing and booze he could not have looked more like a fish out of water. “Uh, no...I-I don’t dance,” he stammered at Tori’s comment.

Walking up to the pier with Logan by her side, Raelyn took in the whole moment. The air filled with different voices and kids screaming on rides caused a smile to form on the girls lips. Even though the smile had been there for a while, thanks to her date. “Hmm..” She thought out for a moment before her eyes saw the farris wheel he had been talking about. “Okay well just a small heads up, I’m a little scared of heights.” She informed him as their fingers were being intertwined. “I think we should start today with some rides, something like the teacups at Disney Land!” She spoke out, looking up to the man beside her. “Only if your stomach can handle it because I go hard on those rides.” She warned him with a grin. 

Logan offered a small nod as she told him about her fear of heights, something about her that he actually didn’t know but quickly made a mental note of. “Don’t worry, I’ll hold you once we’re up there,” he assured with a smile as they made their way inside. “I had a light breakfast so I think it’ll be okay.” Her grin only made him all the more excited for what was to come, even if a slight part of him now feared that she hadn’t being joking about going hard on those teacups. Logan’s eyes traveled across the pier as they walked to the ride, a couple of booths catching his attention and making him chuckle. “Remind me not to take you anywhere near the kissing booth, a lot of action going on over there,” he joked, tightening the grip on her hand.

It was hard to remember the last time he had been on an actual date, that probably meant it had been too long but Logan knew the nerves he felt at the moment weren’t because this was a date. He was nervous because it was Rae, his best friend and he wanted everything to be perfect today. “Alright, what do you want to do first?” he asked as they reached the busy pier, eyes scanning all the booths and games. “We’re saving that for last, so it’s off limits for now.” Logan pointed towards the enormous Farris wheel in the middle, a smile spreading on his lips as he laced their fingers together. @raelynswinter

“Those are too many options, Dill. Now I can’t choose. Which one do you think works better as a present? Definitely, not the pink tiger or Rae will probably hit me with it.”

“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that, for my own benefit because If you think he looks like a pretty lady there’s no hope for me,” he chuckled, trying to keep his voice just a notch above a whisper. Her attempt at looking somewhat insane only made her look all the more adorable and for a moment he was completely lost in her eyes. It would’ve been a good idea to pull his hand back and add some space between them but Logan knew there was no way that was going to happen, not when her body was this warm and his ached to only touch her more. “Yeah, it’s this summer bash thing,” he explained quietly, pulling her closer. “I have the day off and I thought we could go. Together, like a...date?” The last part wasn’t meant to sound like a question but his heart was beating too fast in his chest and opening his mouth again was not a good idea, so he left it a that, eyes locked with hers while he waited for an answer.

“The company of a pretty lady,” he replied smugly, placing kiss on her cheek. “You’re trying to give me a heart attack, aren’t you?” his question was followed by a small chuckle, mostly because he knew how awful her eating habits were even to this day, after consistently trying to get her to eat healthier things without much success. Her sleepy face was far too endearing and Logan couldn’t stop staring, although now he felt slightly guilty for waking her up at this hour. “I’m expecting to see some sort of certification then.” The smile on his lips grew when she wrapped a leg around him, his hand mindlessly caressing it as he spoke. “Any plans for the weekend?”

Biting down on her inner lip, she fought back the smile that seemed to always be slapped on her face when she was around him. “Want me to go find Liam for you then?” She giggled at her own bad joke before she nodded. “Oh of course, it’s my plan to kill you slowly.” Spoken with wide eyes for the crazy affect, but that didn’t last long, she was too tired to pretend to be anything else but herself. “I don’t think the university of youtube actually hands out certification papers, unfortunately.” with  his hand on her leg it sent a thousand different thoughts through her already busy mind. However his question pulled out of her train of thought. “No, not yet at least. Isn’t there suppose to be something going on at the pier?”

With a notebook in her hand, Emilia walked up to the stranger who was sitting alone at the table. “Hello, my name is Emilia Frye and I’m writing for InsideBelleville. I’d like to ask you some questions regarding this town and the upcoming summer bash. It won’t take long, I promise”, she said, followed by her most charming smile. 

Logan nearly jumped from his seat when the stranger approached him, getting so lost inside his books was a common thing but he had never really gotten used to people sneaking up on him when he was reading. “Oh,” he spoke in realization when she explained who she was, it was almost weird being on the other end of an interviewing offer. “Sure, of course. Is this a magazine? I’m not quite sure I’m familiar with the name.”
