Lightning flashed above the trees as Danny ran through the forest. His feet slapped through the mud and the rain plastered his hair to his face.
His powers were shorted out and the hunters pursuing him were gaining on him. He couldn’t last much longer just running through the dark, slippery forest. He’d have to find somewhere to hide eventually.
As he passed another tree, the woods opened up into a small clearing. He could see a small pavilion-picnic structure before the path led to a parking lot further away. This was going to be his best shot for now. He slowed as he walked closer to it, looking for a way in when he suddenly walked into someone’s chest.
Panic shooting through his chest, Danny punched the person in the stomach and tried to dart away before they grabbed onto his arms.
“What the fuck… Fenton?”
Danny looked up with wide eyes into Dash Baxter’s face. He could cry from both relief and dismay right now.
“Why do you look like you’re being chased by ghosts?” Dash paused. “Are you being chased by ghosts?”

Danny Phantom in Gotham
Chapter 13
Robin told the ghost superhero that they would come to him next Friday and asked which city would be the best place for them to pick him up. There were many options like Metropolis and Star City. But when Danny heard that they could pick him up in Gotham, he said it would be the last one.
The Young Justice team gave him an address and hour so they could meet them again and Blue Beetle said that someone would appear and help him to get to their headquarters.
Personally, Danny thought that they just didn’t introduce him to their HQ because he still has time to chicken out and maybe research more about him. Everything was sorted and the groups split up to change back to their identities.
A few minutes later Damian and his “friends” came back and found Danny stuck in a serious conversation with Sam and Tucker. Robin still wanted to discover more about this new addition to the team and decided he should get some answers from those two. Perhaps even Danny, since his father said that he too knew Phantom. He was pleased to discover that Danny’s friend was the one he was looking for earlier.
“That thing came from nowhere”, Damian said while taking a chair. “I didn’t see you outside when the attack happened”
“Ghost attacks are a common thing here in Amity Park”, Sam said, shrugging. “With time you learn how to deal with them”
“Do you know the name of the ghost that attacked us?”, Jaime asked, pretending he didn’t just learn that information.
“That was Skulker”, Danny answered for the first time. “He’s a hunter. But a terrible one, I must say”
“Dude, I’m surprised with all this information. I think my brain might blow any moment”, Gar said and motioned with his hands in a sign of explosion. “There are more villains?”
“We would stay here till tomorrow if you asked me to list them”, Sam said. “Anyway, it was nice meeting you guys but we have something to discuss, right, boys?”, she was followed by Danny and Tucker.
“See you later, Damian”, Danny said goodbye and left.
Still in the restaurant Damian and his teammates agreed that Danny definitely knew the local superhero.

“That’s awesome, dude! You will fight fruit loops with superheroes”, Tucker said and punched Danny’s arm. “My best mate will be even more famous! Let’s just pray the press won’t write bad things about you like they used to”
Danny was still thinking about the last events. He said that he would join their team, but truth being told, he still had time to give up. He liked being a superhero, but he still liked to think he had a future. Sensing the distress emanating from Danny, Sam came to the rescue.
“You could at least try for a month or two. If you still don’t like it you can give up and I promise I won’t murder you”, the girl said.
“Thanks, Sam. You’re the best in pep talks”, Danny said sarcastically. But deep down he knew that this was her way to show that she cared for him. “But we have a problem”, he said suddenly. “We only have one thermos and we need equipment to catch the ghosts. Tucker, do you still have the blueprints I gave to you?”
The geek nodded confused, but there was no problem, because Danny had a plan.

The next day, in the afternoon, the brothers were already in Gotham. Damian went straight to the batcave to report everything he discovered in his time in Amity Park. Bruce nodded and sometimes held a hand to make his son stop so he could ask. They couldn’t force Phantom to work with them, but Batman truly expected the teen to join them, so he wouldn’t be fighting alone.
“Are you sure that Danny knows Phantom?”, Bruce asked Damian. If it was indeed true, that would make the job easier. However, making the boy talk was proving to be an understatement, he was sturbonn.
“Positive. Just like his friends, Manson and Foley”, Damian said. He was still pissed he had to tell his ID to Reyes . Unfortunately Allen already told Logan about the identities of Grayson and Drake, so it didn’t take time for him to connect the dots and discover that the Wayne family was actually the Bat family.
“And Phantom said he would like to be picked here in Gotham?”, the man, once again, asked. Damian just nodded.
Bruce would send Nightwing to pick the teen. Everybody knew Dick was the most friendly person from the family and Phantom would feel more welcome if the acrobat introduced the rest of the team to him.

The next time Danny found himself in school he wasn’t excited to go to the place that day. He had to make a very important decision! But instead, he had to pay attention to the classes. Of course he was complaining a few days ago about having to study, but don’t take him as a hypocrite. It’s just a bad day and soon it will pass and he will focus on school.
He was looking forward to meeting Leo. Everything happened so fast that he didn’t have time to visit him. Besides, he has to ask a favour for the boy. He knew Valdez was a genius so he would ask the boy to build the equipment to catch ghosts. Maybe, even update them.
Jason wasn’t a problem anymore and Danny, now, just had the same feeling when he was with Leo. Harmless. But the other boy didn’t seem too keen to Danny, and they acted like mere acquaintances. Damian was a little more… approachable. The boy started to constantly ask questions about Amity Park, the ghosts that live there and Phantom. Danny was just happy he was willing to talk with him. Poor boy didn’t realise that Damian just wanted to know about the ghosts.
Dick was okay. Always cracking a joke and Danny learned that if you have a problem you should always ask the older teen for help. Tim was fine too and Danny was building courage to ask him to help him with his homework when needed. Cass was Cass. She always had a sleepover with Stephanie and Barbara during the weekends. Besides this Danny just heard her talking once or twice. But she seemed pretty nice.
Bruce, as Danny knew, was a businessman so he guessed that he was super busy. He was never home during the day and the night. His siblings too seemed to disappear during the night and he could just find one of them while the others were gone. Alfred was always there, though. The butler had amazing cooking skills from what he heard, unfortunately, he never tasted anything he cooked.
He didn’t talk a lot with Stephanie, Barbara and Duke. Danny overheard from them that next week a friend of Damian would come to spend the day in the manor and he was wondering if it was one of the friends that he met in Amity Park.
It was the first class and neither Tim or Jason shared this one with him so he was sitting there, alone, in the middle of the class and thinking how life was terrible when he heard a familiar crackle coming from the doorway.
Leo.
Leo was wearing, surprisingly, the school uniform, that was basically a suit. What a strange view. However, his hair was still a mess. He was with a backpack and with a golden tool box. Typical Leo.
When the boy saw Danny he raced to the spot next to the ghost teen and they were already engaged in a conversation. “Danny, my man! Guess who got the scholarship! Me! Leo Awesome Valdez!”, he said happily, the smile never leaving his face.
“Congrats, Leo! I’m so happy for you. It was getting boring here without any friends”, Danny said and soon they were talking about random things and what they did during the time they weren’t seeing each other. Of course they had to stop their conversation when the teacher started his class, but when the break came they stuck together. For the first time since Danny started to attend Gotham Academy Danny wasn’t hanging out with his siblings, but with his own friend.
At their table in the cafeteria they were surrounded by many people, and Danny couldn’t stop thinking that when he sat with his siblings the other students wouldn’t dare even sit near them. He liked the change.
“Leo, I have to ask a favour to you”, Danny whispered to the other boy, suddenly serious. Sensing the change of humor and that was something important Leo was now paying attention. “After school, at the orphanage. I’ll tell you a secret and I’m looking for you to tell me yours. I know you’re hiding something”
Leo’s jaw would go to the floor if possible. “Just a warning. Better your secret be something big, because mine certainly is”, the young mechanic’s mind was going mad anytime, because he could swear he was good at keeping secrets.
Danny knew Leo was hiding something since the day they met, but never pressed the other about it. But now that he had no other choice but tell him he was half ghost, he needed to know the boy’s secret too. It was a fair trade.
They were going back to their classes when they were stopped by Dick, who insisted he wanted to meet his “lil bro’s friend”, as he said. Leo was very happy meeting the other and Tim also joined them. Cass had vanished with Stephanie and Barbara a few moments before, so she didn’t meet Leo. Jason and Damian just weren’t interested in meeting the Repair Boy.
Danny also made sure to tell Dick that he was going to the orphanage with Leo so they could talk more and would go straight to the manor as soon as he left the place. The oldest sibling argued and said that Alfred would pick him up because Gotham was a dangerous city and he didn’t want him walking on the streets alone.
When the school was finally over the friends made their way to the orphanage to share secrets.
