These guys are from the first issue of LOTUS SOLDIERS, Blood in the Temple. Well, they are: Mai            Batau             a kid (I dunno, his name isn't mentioned x'D) Seneb        Bantaor          Tawi Since they all are supposed to have dark skin and brown eyes, I needed to give every character a unique design,  by giving different nose shape, long, round or sharp. Eyebrows, thin, fluffy x'D. Iris, big circles or dots. Face type, square, a bit triangle, round. Even lips x'D Mai the Priest: He was described as a handsome youth priest, with sharp features and clever yet cunning eyes. He was the first one to draw. You can't imagine how pain in ass was he x'D I've never drawn bald.. If you see the first drawings of him, you will vomit :XD: it was hard to draw a character who is supposed to young, handsome and bald. Don't get me wrong here x'D. Anyway, every time, he kept looking so wrong, his shaved head didn't fit any face I tried. Until I figured it out and knew what is wrong :la: I saw references and found out that I made the back of his head too big, I fixed it and he looked right! Then, I wanted to make him the badass he is :XD: so I draw sharp nose and eyebrows, very tiny eyes, with some sort of shining color (instead of the same brown I nearly used for every other character.) Doesn't he look sexy :XD: I'm so proud of him :dummy: Batau the Army Chief: His description wasn't very long, strong body structures, wide shoulders and a long nose. I tried to search some clothes of  soldiers in ancient Egypt, but didn't found many informative informations x'D  so I decided to use red color for army and blue for police :v It was mentioned in the story that he wore a military badge, I dunno where the writer got that idea from x'D so I just put a golden thing over his left shoulder 8V  Made him darker than the others since he stays in the sun fighting and such xD The Kid: I don't have much to say about this one x'D He only appears in the very beginning, just that one time. It was hard to draw a kid that look Egyptian, so I saw the kid Ramses of the Prince of Egypt movie, but he looked.. well, um.. not the kid I had in my mind x'D so it was hard, and in the end I  decided  that a Disney style kid is better. I admit, I failed with this kid :XD: How dare I to put this innocent child among those unsmiling, boring adults XD Seneb the Second Priest: He has no description at all, except for he's the oldest one x'D This design was originally given to another character, but then I thought it would fit him much more. Not much to say, I just wanted him to be as skull as possible :XD: Oh, and after drawing Mai, I got sort of used to bald heads, so he wasn't so hard to develop. Bantaor the Deputy Minister of South: I always get mixed up between Batau and Bantaor names :XD: He was described as a short, and  fat man, I may make his body fatter in the future. At first, I couldn't get him right, then I looked at references and saw that most of cartoon fat characters were given a small head, so I tried it, and it worked :dummy: I dunno why I gave him a beard, I just felt like it :v Tawi the Police Chief: A strong built, skin as , with some white between his short hair, was the description. As I said, I'll refer to police by the blue color ( I don't say it was true in the real ancient Egypt.) "I'm Nefro, the third soldier from Lotus." said the young woman as a smile painted  her lips. "I study at Oun medicine, secrets of magic and priesthood of northern peoples, also a fighter taught to--" Hory let out a sarcastic laugh, before shaking his head saying, "A fighter?! How ridiculous." With a cold look in her eyes, she asked "What ridiculous you mean, Hory? You're Hory for sure." Ignoring her, he turned to talk to Tawi and Mohib. "Has Egypt run out of men to send us a woman?!" "Why not?! Queen Hatsheput is a woman!" Nefro fixed her eyes on him. "She rules from her high castle among hosts of slaves and servants," he answered, harshly. "and she could never lead a small military campaign to anywhere near conflicts!" "I can't care less about your opinion." "Hear me you confidant doctor," Hory said, trying to contain his temper. "this work needs men, a woman is enough to slow it down, so it's better to exempt yourself and go home." "Do you really think I'll do that?!" Nefro said, not giving up. Her talk irritated him that his face flushed with anger, making him exclaim, "I told you we don't need you here! For I won't be able to work in your presence." "So it's better to exempt yourself and go home!" she said, smirking. "Consider it as an order." "Who told you that I take orders from you?!" *** Thought to show you sort of a tiny scene of the story, to give you a teeny tiny idea about it x'D So here is how Hory and Nefro first met, lovely isn't it  Hory seems like he wants to punch her in the face xD Nefro looks like a witch in this black clothes, and Hory looks like a thief or something. Well, I wanted to test colors for desert and such.. ('cause I have no idea how to draw sand since I only draw Lion King grass background) and it was a HELL for me! I just couldn't find the best tone, believe it or not, after painting the whole image, I start to adjust it.. the adjusting process took 3 hours :/ .. and I'm not very proud of it... *sigh* anyway, there will be more of it.. Now, Let me present *drum roll please... LOTUS !! x'D Lotus is a series of novels that takes place in Ancient Egypt, written by an Egyptian writer called Mohamed Soliman. I like those stories very much that I decided to illustrate comics of them, I've been thinking about this project for a month now. The title "لوتس" is in Arabic, but the comic will be in English.
