Reblogging this here as well as on my personal, because I know a lot of my followers on this blog are also artists. I think it’s absolutely vile that this is something you have to opt out of rather than into, and that Tumblr didn’t tell us they were doing this so everyone was opted in by default. This is also a direct violation of Tumblr’s own TOS, which claims that users retain copyright over any images they created and posted on Tumblr, so anyone whose artwork has been used by third parties without their knowledge or consent as a direct result of this decision does in fact have grounds to sue! Good job Tumblr, good job.

Hey be sure to go to your blog settings, head down to visibility and turn on this little button that prevents Tumblr from stealing your posts and using it to train AI learning models. Good job, fuckheads, great update.

This was my first time working on a zine, and I couldn't have asked for a better one; everyone's come up with the most amazingly inventive ideas for it, and my own piece has been really fun to work on as well. The finished zine releases on the 14th, and I can't wait for you guys to see it!

#oc #not fanart #hullo! hope everyone's 2023 is off to a decent start #the palette for this one was a genuine accident! I was originally aiming for more of a nighttime scene #like a gothicky halloweeny vibe #but the purple I used as the undertone for my palette ended up being too pale and warm #it wasn't noticeable when colouring the figures but then I started on the background wash and it completely blindsided me #it made me IRRATIONALLY excited haha. it wasn't the effect I had previously envisioned but it was so much more fun to work with #sometimes the real art is the 80's fantasy movies we accidentally make along the way

#cardcaptor sakura #mori kei #my penchant for designing new outfits for my favs finally extended to tomoyo... we've come full circle #love is stored in the mori-kei redesign apparently #tomoyo herself is SUPER fun to draw though! I've missed being able to draw super long hair #and I finally got a chance to actually post those shoes! #that shoe design has actually been popping up quite a lot in my art over the past couple years. on various characters #but through various twists of fate I never end up posting the pieces that have the shoes in them #I was beginning to worry that the shoes might be cursed haha #and as always I loved doing the plants! I wasn't sure at first what that tree was gonna be #at first I was toying with the idea of a magnolia bc that's one of tomoyo's favourite flowers in the manga #but then I was like... no she needs to match sakura #one of the flowers in her hair is a magnolia though! #along with a couple of sakura and a sprig of lavender. because gay #anyway this has been so much fun! I want to do more fashion illustrations like this someday! #maybe I could do one of syaoran later? make it a triptych? HMMM

#zelda #breath of the wild #this one was very fun to do! I loved working with all the greens especially #the trees' foliage are made up of a warm green and a cool green swirled together and that was INSANELY satisfying to do #when I was a kid I had a book of fairytales where all the illustrations had this faint greenish undertone to them #which made them look very witchy and ethereal #so working with palettes like that gives me a happy nostalgic feeling now haha #this gave me a chance to practice a few things I want to get better at drawing too so that's exciting #most of my botw art uses actual locations in the game as backgrounds #so if there's something in the screenshot that I haven't drawn much before I have to learn it on the fly #which is really fun! #anyway hello friends! sorry I haven't posted much art lately #I have been very busy preparing for something that's happening next year #I'll tell you more closer to the time but I am VERY excited (and also lowkey terrified. mostly excited tho) #I hope you are all having an okay time and that you are all remembering to stay hydrated and protected from the sun #and that you get to see some fireflies if you live in a country that has them #I don't so you'll have to appreciate them twice as hard for me okay? okay

Hey so uhh remember how I said earlier that I’d been working on a project I couldn’t show you yet? WELL HERE YA GO

I’m trying to phase back into writing, so I’ve been replaying BotW and just scripting these little diary comics, in-character as Link, as I go. It’s been a lot of fun so far! I’ve missed making comics, and this particular method of drawing them sparks a lot of joy for me, so there will definitely be more of this in the future haha.

I love drawing animals and I wanted an opportunity to practice that haha #link is always fun to draw too #idk if it shows up because I draw really small but I always give him a wee dusting of freckles across his cheeks and nose #and it's such a little thing but adding those in always brings me so much joy #this was also my first time making a font from scratch! do you like it! #it's designed to be like a cross between the lettering used in the windwaker title screen and bilbo's handwriting in the lotr films #I wanted something that would look handwritten without being too modern #I hope it's legible haha ;;; please don't be shy about telling me if it's not!

#cardcaptor sakura #mori kei #there is actually kind of a funny story behind this one #I actually inked this just over a year ago and then never got around to colouring it #and then it just sat in my wip folder gathering whatever the digital equivalent of dust is until about a week ago #when I dropped - not spilled; dropped - an entire cup of hot tea on my laptop #yeah idk how I managed to do that either #so when it got back from the repair shop I was frantically going through my files to make sure everything had survived #and that's when I was like 'oh hey I never finished that sakura doodle did I' #so here we are #I'm p glad I did get to finish it #I had a lot of fun designing this outfit and it'd be a pity to lose that #her cardigan pockets have little bears on them #originally she had a longer checked skirt but it made her look too old #I still have the sketches of that one though. maybe someday I'll do a tsubasa version haha #the colours were really fun to do as well #the shading and highlights are both done entirely in pink if you can believe it #there's definitely some stuff I want to study up on bc I'm not thrilled with how I did them here #but overall... yeah I really enjoyed this #I was very dubious about how a clamp character was going to look in my very western cartoon style #but it's actually sort of cute??? #sugar cups #this is probably the most obscure thing I've ever drawn fanart for #was looking through the tag on instagram the other day and was amazed to discover that a) some people have the new candyruru already #and b) a nonzero number of them ship her with their biscuitinas #so naturally I do too now #drawing wlw couples is especially fun bc it's like. two happy girls in love for the price of one #sale on happy girls in aisle five #I like drawing girls happy. it's what they deserve #anyway hello! it's been a while hasn't it #been working on some stuff I can't show you yet #and also trying to recover from *gestures vaguely at the entire state of the world for the past three years or so* that #anyway anyway #these girls have such fun cute designs! I had a blast drawing them #candyruru's hair in particular was a lot of fun #I couldn't tell from other people's pictures whether it was closer to pink or purple #so I compromised by putting a subtle bi flag gradient over it #if in doubt always go for the gayest possible option. just a fun art tip from your pal al #anyway see you hopefully before next year! goodnight friends

#zelda #breath of the wild #been replaying this lately! #it always takes me so long to actually move on with the game's story #just because whenever I enter a new area my first impulse is to scour the whole of it for anything remotely edible #apples make up a pretty big part of my link's diet #idk if it's because of the very ghibli-looking graphics or what but my interpretation of botw link is heavily based on ashitaka #so I have this sort of self-imposed gameplay challenge where it's like #not quite a pacifist run #because I do still make him fight in self-defence or to progress in the game #but I play him with this philosophy of 'if it's not hurting anyone leave it alone' #which adds a certain challenge because it means I can't use meat-based dishes or elixirs #don't ask me how I'm going to survive death mountain because I have no ideas at all haha #anyway anyway #my new lineart brush is pretty fun to use #I wanted something more like a watercolour pencil #and I thiiiiink this one kind of accomplishes that? #I'd like to play around with it some more #the grass was pretty fun too #where I'm from the grass tends to be a much darker green #so ig I gravitated towards that bc it's what I'm used to seeing #idk I rather like it though? it's like a soft bed of moss #like you could fall out of that tree and know there's a cushiony surface waiting to catch you beneath #that's what I want most out of my environment design I think #I want to make worlds where you know you can relax
