Things In Newsies Live I Think About A Lot #1

Y'know that part at the beginning of KONY, when Race mimicks the Statue of Liberty by clutching the paper to his chest and holding a glass above his head? Well, you mightn't have noticed that when he does this, Henry is standing in front of him on the floor and he mouths "I'm the king of New York" when Race says it.

Does this mean that Race frequently goes into song and dance about being the king of New York? Does this mean that Henry knows Race so well that he can predict what he's about to say? Or is Henry magic and can read Race's mind?

Now, I don't want to make any assumptions here, but I like the sound of that last one.

so funny story: during the pandemic my sister and I were so bored we recreated the pro-shot of Newsies in LEGO stop motion. We never finished it, but we got through the entirety of Act One and King of New York. So please, enjoy this small part of the Seize The Day dance break!

Ok screw it. I'm just gonna say it.... This song is literally David singing about going to Santa Fe after Jack died and how he's going because it was Jack's dying wish, and he loved Jack. (Might try and draw the scene) Also I think if Jack died this is how they would have ended Newsies. Also David has a Photo of him and Jack and he's looking at it through the song.

I literally finished this a month ago and finally took pictures of it lmao

The scale is 1.7 ft x 2 ft

I did all the lettering etc with gauche as well as the circles and the characters were done in watercolour

Frenchie and Izzy are next to each other in literally every scene they are in together.

I wouldn't say that there is anything in the context of the actual show to suggest that there is some secret romance going on between Frenchie and Izzy.

However, what is undeniable is that Frenchie and Izzy enjoy being in each other's space. They are inexplicably drawn to each other. They gravitate towards each other. They seek out comfort from each other. They feel safe around each other. They seem their most relaxed with each other.

It's not just how Frenchie held Izzy's hand or rest his head against Izzy's leg. It's how Izzy is allowing Frenchie to be in his space.

It's how Izzy is accepting Frenchie's touch when he is on the brink of tears, not just once but TWICE. Frenchie is clearly a welcome comfort to Izzy because we know if he wasn't, Izzy would not be shy about pushing him away, cussing him out or threatening him with violence.

It's how we went from Frenchie clapping and cheering on Ed for punching Izzy in the face in season 1 to Frenchie caring that Ed is cutting off Izzy's toes and mistreating him in season 2.

It's how Frenchie shakes his head 'no' as a warning to Izzy to keep his mouth shut before Ed shoots him in the leg.

It's how Frenchie risks his life sneaking around the ship to get supplies for Izzy's leg and lying to Ed's face.

I wouldn't dare get my hopes up if these two were characters on any other show but with this show I have hope that maybe... just maybe, the seeds are being planted for what could potentially be a great love story. It's subtle but it's definitely not random.

If Frenchie and Izzy were to become canon, I would predict that they would get together in season 3. Izzy has to deal with his complicated feelings for Ed and realize his worth, whilst Frenchie has to work through his trauma that he's been compartmentalizing in his mind.

I'd like to think that they will help each other as friends before they start toeing the line of romance.

Maybe I'm delusional but I don't think Frenchie and Izzy going canon is that far fetched anymore.

I feel like some people just forget that people ship just for fun. Like, I shipped Steddie in stranger things but I didn’t think they would start making out at the end of season 4. Of course, there are people who call it queerbaiting because they hadn’t gotten together but that doesn’t mean all Steddie shippers say the same. 

An real example of queerbaiting is Betty and Veronica’s kiss in episode one of Riverdale and having both of them be straight (or never confirmed to be wlw). I’m pretty sure this kiss was used in the promo for the episode or something (don’t quote me on this, I could be wrong) and they definitely knew that would make queer viewers watch the show and never showing them having any romantic relationship. Even if they added queer characters later in the show, they still baited with the Betty/Veronica relationship.

Back to shipping. If you don’t like that somebody is shipping you fictional characters together, there’s no reason to say anything about it. I very much dislike Mike and Eleven together in stranger things but this is the first time I’ve ever actually expressed that I dislike it. Because it really doesn’t hurt anybody and me expressing that I don’t like won’t make anybody like it any less or more. It’ll probably just make them dislike me. So if somebody’s not bothering you with their opinions then don’t bother them with yours. This obviously doesn’t apply if somebody’s harassing you for a ship. I doubt this post will actually influence people like that to stop being like that though, just voicing my opinion.

I also want to clarify that I’m not hating on Mileven or Beronica ship, if you ship them then go ahead. I don’t even watch Riverdale anymore, I just thought it was an okay example. Sorry if any information I have is incorrect. I’ve also never posted on Tumblr before so idk what this is
