I highly appreciate the "happy ending" tag on angst fics, dark fics, etc. Its existence increases the probability of me reading by a significant amount

but some people are like "why even read those fics if you already know how they're gonna end?"

Well, it's kinda like going on a roller-coaster. I wanna experience the ride. The ups and the downs, the twists and turns. But I also wanna know that at the end, it'll come to a safe stop and I'll be able to get off of it completely unharmed

I'm watching Our Father; it's a docudrama about Dr. Donald Cline, who used his own samples as a fertility doctor to father 90+ children and counting in the Indianapolis area.

And I'm having a hard time relating to some of these people who had identity crises after learning that they weren't biologically related to their father. I'm not biologically related to my dad and knew from a young age. None of my family is biologically related to my little brother and he's known that all along.

Is the knowing what makes me see this from such a different perspective? I don't see them as any less related to me, or myself as less of the family. Even on my "adopted" dad's side, no one treats me differently. They never saw me or held me as an infant. They didn't know me until I was nearly four years old, but they all love me and I've never really considered that my blood relation to them changes anything. I've never had an identity crisis or wondered where my physical features came from. The only time my bio father comes into my mind is when I'm cursing him for giving me major depressive disorder lmao

Parents, please for the love of God, tell your children if they're adopted or donor conceived. Not when they're 21 or 18 or 16, right now. Tell them while they don't quite understand so that they grow to understand with a lens of positivity on it. Let them identify with adoption stories instead of being crushed by them. My brother has always known. My mom told me when I was 7. Doesn't make us any less of a family.

And btw? Choosing to love someone through adoption just hits different than love born from blood. My parents didn't have a baby, they chose one.

i don't think some of y'all understand how significant it is that annabeth chase, the leading lady in an IP/brand as big as percy jackson, is played by a black girl. she is not some sidekick or comic relief. THEE annabeth chase, one of the wisest, intelligent, brave demigods and love of percy jackson's life, is played by a BLACK GIRL!!

but you're so hateful and caught up with book inaccuracies and changes that you can't even offer a sliver of hope for things to improve in continuing seasons, and instead immediately resort to wishing the show gets cancelled because they didn't do that specific thing in that specific scene in the books. makes me think there might be another underlying reason as to why you want it to fail.

and before someone starts, this isn't to say you can't have criticism, but if you really love percy jackson, why wouldn't your hope be for things to get better?
