i am totally going to come across as a boomer in this post but as an engineer it's common sense to not build systems with a single point of failure. and i'm starting to realize that our usage of the smart phone is exactly that. a single point of failure. the calling/texting is the implied function of the smartphone, which is fine. that's what it's built for. but nowadays we don't think to keep a physical map or atlas or gps unit in our car because our phone has google maps. we don't keep address books anymore because it's all stored in our contacts. i serve customers who no longer carry a wallet/physical card because it's all on their phone. this is literally a single point of failure. if you lose or break your phone when you are in a foreign place you are fucking screwed. maybe you're still screwed even in your home town because so many people have become accustomed to using a smart phone to take them anywhere.

Gyns... A fourteen (14) year old Romani girl was murdered by her husband a few weeks ago in Brasil. The whole story is sick. Her husband (a 14yo Romani boy). As expected, media coverage has been a mixture of racist ignorance at the detriment of Romani girls and women. A man working for the police explained that this happened because "Gypsy culture is different, they have other traditions from ours." It's not the norm among Roma to murder your 14yo wife. Stop trying to explain it away by talking about "culture" to avoid talking about misogyny.

Femicides against Romani women are almost never reported in the press and it's hard to keep track of it because there are Romani communities in every country but this is the second time this year I'm hearing of a femicide against a Romani woman. Almost a year ago, a Romani mother was ran over by her two sons in Sweden.

It's a french leftist magasine, it says "islamists, puritans, they want to cover up women this summer, are we going to let them?"

It's the usual private property vs public property debate among men. Should women be private property, hide their bodies in public and reveal it only to their husbands, or should they be public property and figure naked and headless on a magasine cover? The bottom line is always: women are our property. Right wing and religious men are very upfront about their misogyny, but leftist men always try to paint theirs as feminism. The truth is they don't care about women. When they defend abortion it's so that they can fuck more women, when they defend sexual freedom it's so that women comply to degrading acts, when they defend bodily autonomy it's so women make more porn. Look at them objectifying and ogling us while discussing how we should be allowed to dress. "Are we going to let them?" Women are absent from the conversation.
