MntyFrsh's AAC Adventure
Windows 11, version 22H2 borked the gain/volume when playing AAC/M4A files purchased (or Matched) from iTunes in any DJ software (including Serato DJ, Rekordbox, Mixxx, and Traktor). Here's my tweet thread from late last year into this past spring discussing the issues I had:
Transferred my Rekordbox database (and the iTunes library it reads from) to a new laptop, and now half of my tracks have their gain/trim/volume set super quiet (but randomly loud at points within the songs). Ugh, troubleshoot or just build a new database with my fingers crossed?

Help me @PioneerDJglobal, you are my only hope.

Apparently it's an issue with Rekordbox playing AAC/M4A files running on Windows 11, version 22H2. Lovely.

Hmm, gonna have to try my luck with Serato and bust out the good ol Numark NV sometime this week.

@MicrosoftHelps @PioneerDJglobal
Needing help with getting the right drivers for Rekordbox to properly read AAC/M4A files purchased from iTunes on Windows 11, v. 22H2. The volume of tracks keeps fluctuating. This is not an issue on other music file types (mp3, wav, aiff, etc).

Just following up on the Rekordbox / Windows 11 22H2 / AAC M4A volume fluctuation issue: Pioneer DJ said that other customers also have this issue, and are implying that it's something that Microsoft needs to fix. Help!!! pic.twitter.com/oxumICCcH9

MP3 vs. AAC/M4A on Rekordbox 6.7.0 on Windows 11, ver. 22H2:
The 1st track I play is an MP3 file that is playing correctly without any issue. The 2nd track I play is an AAC/M4A file purchased from iTunes, and you can see (and hear) the volume/gain fluctuations in the waveform. pic.twitter.com/kp4qQvkh0v

This is not unique to Rekordbox. A similar volume/gain bug happens in Serato DJ Pro on Windows 11 version 22h2 with AAC/M4A files. Again, the MP3 version plays fine.
(Sorry for being extra wordy here. I'm just including keywords for people who are trying to search for this issue) pic.twitter.com/o3cLPjXTyu

Re: Rekordbox / Windows 11 version 22H2 / AAC M4A volume/gain/trim fluctuation issue:
So after some troubleshooting with @MicrosoftHelps via DM, they recommended that I submit the issue via the Feedback Hub that's built into Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/send-feedback-to-microsoft-with-the-feedback-hub-app-f59187f8-8739-22d6-ba93-f66612949332

Me, listening on streaming: This is a great track! It's too bad it's so short, but I'm sure that I'll be able to buy an extended mix on Beatport to play in DJ sets.
Beatport:
Ugh, stuff like this is why I can't stand dance music on major labels sometimes.

Wondering if I can (should?) prioritize Tumblr for a week over all of the Twitter alternatives I've signed up for since last November. It does most of what I need it to do (other than properly embedding SoundCloud and Mixcloud players).

Whenever Tumblr starts using ActivityPub, I really hope that it also starts introducing lists. I want to follow tons of people, but I want to have separate feeds for them, not just one giant fire hose of content.
