i find it hilarious that so many people read berserk as this praise of stoic self-discipline as a means to get through a fundamentally tragic world when its clearly the opposite, that that mentality only gets you so far (and actually kills you) and you gotta rely on friends, accept your limits and find joy in the little things between friends.

i dont think i could have read berserk if i wasn’t mentally stable but paradoxically i dont think i’d have been able to read it (or at least be able to find any meaning in it) either if i was never unwell in the first place. berserk is very much a story for survivors of all kinds and i think that kinda shines through for me in light of this
