Hello there! My name is Aubrey Koebach a.k.a. Moonlight Rising, and thank you for checking out my professional Tumblr blog. I used to run a "Let's Play" YouTube channel, but that's sort of fallen by the wayside. Nowdays I buy junk/broken Gameboys of every kind, and basically flip them into working, custom Gameboys that will bring you back to the good ol' days with some modern flair. ___________________________________ Please feel free to message me if you're interested in buying a custom Gameboy. Or even a simple refurbished Gameboy! I can rebuild you any model from the OG brick DMG Gameboy all the way up to the Advance SP, and in pretty much any color (or theme!) you can think of. I can even do some modding!
Forgot to post this here. I actually finished this one up about a week prior to Christmas. My own custom design on the shell, IPS V2 screen behind a tempered glass lens, some custom color buttons, and it was looking really good!
Also, I just noticed that the angle at which I took the first picture makes the screen look off-center, but it was definitely centered I promise. Haha
Before and after of just the motherboard for my brother's GBC. He's going for a plain stock color shell so there won't be much to show all that was done. The last two pictures are after where I replaced the speaker because the old one was not working, added an audio amp chip, replaced the old power regulator chip with an improved one, and swapped the old capacitor for a larger one. I'll be installing an IPS V2 screen as well, so I've already got the pins on the front clipped down.
It bothers me that there's so many wires because it makes it look messy, but they have to be there. And they're placed about as neatly as they can be. 馃槄
Second mod done! This time I designed the UV printing on the shell myself (The Lugia image I found on Google), but you won't find another shell like this. Blue buttons to match the Lugia color scheme, as well as a blue LED to replace the normal green power light, the same IPS V2 screen as the last one, and a CleanJuice rechargeable battery mod to finish.
I included a couple 'before' pictures at the end for anyone interested in what I started with. There weren't any major issues other than crystal leakage in the screen and a dirty power switch.
First mod done! Idk why I didn't take a before picture. Definitely meant to, but just imagine an old "Midnight Blue" Gameboy Advance that was scratched, worn, and dirty. And the old LCD screen had Really bad crystal leakage to where it actually looked like a long, horizontal cut that was bleeding liquid.
So this one got a custom shell with UV printing on it, buttons and conductive pads to match, and an IPS V2 backlit screen with wires soldered on to allow scrolling through brightness levels.
I'm very proud of this, and can't wait to do more! 馃А
I've decided to start restoring/refurbishing old game consoles such as Gameboys, N64s, PS1s, etc. I've been interested in doing this sort of thing for a long time, and I'm finally gonna try it out. I've already ordered a really nice soldering set, and I even know how to remove the yellowing from plastics to make them look brand new again.
So if anyone has any old junkers laying around that they are willing to be rid of, I will buy them off you. Or if you're willing to take a chance on sending any broken consoles to be fixed, I can see what I can do to get it working again, and send it back for a price depending on what needed to be done.
TL:DR - I'm starting a little business to restore/refurbish old game consoles so I'll buy any old junkers you're willing to sell. Or possibly fix them for you for a price.
Been really into Skyrim for PC lately. I had never played any of the DLCs before so I'm making up for lost time by adopting this sweet girl from Whiterun.
