My Winx Club Rewrite Random Lore Tidbits: Magix

Just like about everyone else in the fandom right now, I made a Winx Club rewrite. It's 3 chapters in right now and I have plans. There's a chance that I might make a sub-blog or whatever devoted to it (but I doubt I will). If you want to read it, it's "Winx Club: Discovering Magix" on Ao3.

Things are relatively the same from what's shown in the show (and some of the comics) but here's some random lore tidbits.

Magix is the exact center of the Magic Dimension so it acts like the capital.

Magix refers to the center planet and the solar system it is in. This all depends on context, though.

Unia (U) is the universal currency in the Magic Dimension and the only currency on Magix. Other planets have additional currencies unique to themselves. 1 USD is worth 150 Unia.

It used to be an absolute monarchy but recently became a republic.

Magix is home to four schools: Alfea College for Fairies, Cloud Tower College for Witches, Red Fountain College for Specialists, and Beta Academy.

Magix as a planet is pretty small. It has only 1 continent and a plethora of islands.

Most of the planet is generally uninhabited and unexplored.

Timmy is from Magix, more specifically a small town very south of Gloomy Wood Forest. (not shown on the map)

The entrance to the Downlands and underground caverns is southwest of Magix City (not shown on the map).

Pixie Village is hidden somewhere in the western Gloomy Wood Forest.

Magix City has an "old town" district that faces Cloud Tower.

Cloud Tower's mountain range is the school's namesake.

Cloud Tower Mountain is in an eternal storm.

Below is a very poorly made map I constructed, not exactly to scale. The yellow-green spot is Black-Mud Swamp and the dark green is Gloomy-Wood Forest. The dark yellow spots are minor population centers.

@referrix was my source for the rough directional locations of the schools (except for Beta Academy because I came up with that)

My Thoughts on the PreCure Leaks (Along with Some Hopes)

Okay, so earlier I posted a TikTok on my thoughts on the PreCure leaks but the TikTok was obviously a bit rushed and I couldn't put all of my thoughts in a cohesive way. So, here's a more comprehensive list of my thoughts and feelings about the Wonderful PreCure! leaks. These leaks are the ones that were recently confirmed to be real by some preorder listings on toy sites. I won't say who revealed them for their privacy but it's pretty easy to find who.

Also, Toei, please don't come for me. It's your faults for letting the initial leaks happen. However, I do wish that these leaks came closer to the season release because in a way that would up the hype. Though, I can imagine some hype still being there with waiting for the designs for the items and plot.

Spoilers below the cut!

So, normally, leaks of the designs and merch usually would come out multiple weeks after the trademark was made for the season. The trademark was made on November 29 (in EST) and the leaks started coming out on December 3 (in EST). That's only a few days which is insanely fast lol. For Hirogaru Sky, we started getting the actual design leaks in January which was over a month after the trademark was issued.

So I was super skeptical with these images because that's insanely early. That was until today when I saw a post sharing that there was indeed preorder listings for some merch that confirmed the names which by extension confirms the leaks. It's crazy because the leaks happened a month earlier than normal. Normally, there might be talks of what the season could involve and everyone is waiting with anticipation for majority of the month of December until eventually some silhouettes are seen. At this point in the "leak season," the most we'd get would be names for the Cures and some toy preorders.

I was insanely floored upon seeing thing and yes, the listings seem to be legit. Before we go on, please know that these are my opinions, it's okay if you disagree or agree. Just don't get aggressive, for the love of God. (I doubt anyone would get aggressive because the PreCure fandom is mostly chill like that but since I'm basically new to using Tumblr for PreCure and other fandom since the last time I used this site for posting about fandom was years ago on deactivated accounts)

Ok, onto actual thoughts now!

I really like Cure Nyammy's design, as well as Cure Friendy's. Cure Wonderful's design needs to grow on me a little more because something about it just feels off.

Cure Nyammy probably has my favorite design out of them all.

Cure Lillian looks like one of those bootleg designs for Cure Spicy. Y'know like the ones you'd see on a bootleg toy. Though, I think it honestly might just be the hair and overall silhouette. Her design is--unsurprisingly--better than Spicy's in some aspects.

When will Toei finally give us a proper green cure instead of the teal/turquoise greens? The last time we had any form of green cure was back in 2019 with Cure Milky (though I thought she was a blue cure at first because of how blue her color palette was). It appears that Lillian will be like Cure Milky in that she looks more like a blue than Green. However, her color is supposed to be green judging by two of the purses putting a green heart next to her. She looks incredibly blue, though, but that can be brushed off as the photo quality because the photos aren't the best qualities. Last time we got a proper green cure was back in 2016 which was almost 8 years ago. Please don't make Felice the last proper green cure. We deserve more than just a few proper green cures.

What the heck is "Friendy?" I'm praying to every higher power that it was just a typo like when they put "Cure Rhythem" instead of "Cure Rhythm" on the DX3 promo.

Nyammy is a cute name considering the origin of it being a common cat name in Japan. Think of it like naming her Cure Kitty or Cure Mimi. It also can be something like Cure Meowy.

Are we finally getting a white/silver haired PreCure after years?! I'm pretty sure that the last time we got a white or silver haired PreCure was Cure Moonlight which was almost 14 years ago. So, I'm pretty pumped about it.

I'm bummed that we're getting yet another compact for transformation. It's also the hundredth time we've had an item called [main part of season name] Pact... Though, it's good for collecting but I'd like for us to get another transformation watch or bracelet or they could do something original like with HUGtto's transformation device. The PreHeart was inventive because it sorta doubled as a phone and compact in design. (It also had a use outside of transforming or attacking)

A potentially unpopular opinion but I like Friendy's hair. I think she's the first time we've gotten a blond purple cure? And before someone says "Cure Finale is purple," let me point you to Toei stating that she's a gold cure.

Personally, I see both Wonderful and Friendy having sort of dog ear motifs with their hair? It's more obvious with Wonderful but I think the reason why both have some version of twintails or pigtails is to imitate dog ears.

It's pretty obvious that Nyammy and Lillian are supposed to represent cats.

It also appears that Toei is once again doing the team where there's two duos thing that Hirogaru Sky did. Not really a fan of it unless they can execute it well like they did for Hirogaru Sky.

Not a fan of yet another mirror pad. Hopefully they'll add some sort of fun twist to it such as it eventually doubling as a weapon.

Just a prediction but I think if there is a midseason, they'll be gold/yellow/orange. I'd like to see another duo like Amour and Ma Cherie, though... It would be really fun to have a yellow/gold/orange and red duo.

If there is a midseason, I hope that they aren't another dog or cat theme... Perhaps a fox theme?

Though, I don't really want a midseason because we have enough of them and it'd be nice to have a season like Smile or Splash Star in that regard.

At least the names are sorta fitting. Unlike Cure Spicy and Cure Earth. I'll never understand why they named the blue PreCure "Spicy" and I already explained the nonsense that is Cure Earth.

I kinda want the compacts to be used for their attacks. Not like Kira Kira A La Mode... Just they use them for their finishers like in HUGtto.

I think it'd be really funny if Cure Friendy was actually the lead cure but I doubt she will be LMAO

I am once again praying to every higher power that Toei does more with the theming of animals.

I just realized that this post is like an essay LMAO. I'm so sorry about infodumping about this but lately these leaks have been all I can think about and I had to get it out of my system. I am so sorry to whoever read this entire thing, all 5 paragraphs and 20 bullet points.

As much as I like Yuki, I do not want her to come back or be reincarnated at the end of Memories. As I stated in an earlier post, it would feel like lazy and cheap writing, as well as not letting Kaname heal and move on. Yuki coming back would also basically completely nullify the sacrifice she made for Kaname's happiness.

She seems to have wanted him to live life as a human because she wished that he could've "experienced the sun." Part of that is by moving on from his life as Kaname the Progenitor and to live as Kaname the human man. Yuki (or even Hooded Woman) coming back would not let him move on properly since both are remnants of his past. Though, it's worth pointing out that some of Yuki still lives on within Kaname and in his very vague memories, as well as the familial bond between Kaname and his daughters.

Kaname needs to be able to process his grief and move on. A big part of moving on is by not being held back by the past and instead moving towards the future. This doesn't mean he forgets about her or whatever. This just means that he accepts that she is gone and opens his heart to love again. Love is not a finite resource, it's quite infinite.

The best way for Hino to give Kaname some sort of happy ending would be to dedicate a volume and a half to him grieving and then finding love with a human. Then, they grow old together and eventually pass on together.

Also, Yuki being reincarnated would pose a major issue of the reincarnation being 18-19 years younger than Kaname. Reincarnation means that you're reborn as an infant, not randomly spawning in as an adult. I don't think that Hino would have a major timeskip of decades to introduce a love interest for Kaname if there will be one.

Hino could also just pull a "LMAO" and have Kaname and Takuma get together but that'd bastardize Takuma's development.

I dunno, I might just be slightly biased because I want to see better representations of grief in shojo and I'm tired of the no stakes in death stuff.

Once again, I mean no malice with this post and am simply sharing my opinions and thoughts. While I might not agree with an opposing opinion to my opinions, I will respect it (unless it's harmful). I have to put this here because I'm super paranoid that someone will attack me after seeing how aggressive some people have gotten over opposing opinions in any fandom. The trauma of Voltron's fandom lingers...

People can form their own opinions about characters and the story. Not everyone thinks yuuki truly loved kaname. We can co exist with differing opinions. But I agree with you that it's not right to make personal attacks on the person who created the story you hate. It's better to just stop reading it.

And that's your own opinions and I won't try to change your mind. I respect that opinion even if I don't agree with it. The fun about fandom is sharing the interest and sharing opinions (as long as they aren't harmful nor support harmful things). Obviously, people have the right to point out any harmful things within Vampire Knight such as certain relationships or story beats. Slightly off topic but I do want Kaname to have a proper happy ending as a way to tie some loose ends. I don't want Yuki to be reincarnated nor brought back because I'm not much of a fan of that ship (please don't attack me or judge me for it) and it would seem sorta cheap and lazy to bring her back. I'll probably make another post just talking about it because I have many thoughts about the best way to give Kaname a proper ending.

About Vampire Knight Alternate

Background

Back in like 2021-ish, I got the urge to start a RP series for Vampire Knight. However, I'm someone who doesn't like RPing as canon characters (and I did not like some plot points in canon). As such, I started planning and plotting an alternate universe where the canon characters did not exist but certain things still happened and what not.

Basically, it's like a Spiderverse type of situation where certain events and types of characters are a constant. However, this first version was pretty different from the current one. I got in one RP session for it and then scrapped it until I went back to the drawing board.

After months of planning, I finally got the first proper session done in October. I'll post about my characters and story as I go on.

My Characters

Sachiko Yuukimura: The head of the Yuukimura family, as well as the last living member of the Yuukimura family. She plays a similar role in the story as Kaname with being the Moon Dorm president, a Pureblood, and under the care of a Senate member. She's known the Headmistress since she was very young and worked with her to reestablish the Night Class.

Headmistress Irene Cross: A former vampire hunter and the current headmistress of Cross Academy. Despite her last name being Cross, it is not the same as Kaien Cross (his last name would be in Kanji in Japanese whereas Irene's last name is in Katakana). Anyways, she raised the three members of the Disciplinary Committee.

Patty: The Day Class 3-2 rep and a member of the school newspaper. She's very pushy about getting the newest scoop but isn't one to lie in her articles.

Val: A Day Class student yet to be introduced formally...

Just a friendly reminder to a certain set of VK fans that Kaname’s final wishes were for Yuki and Zero to get together and eventually move on! I wish people would realize that Yuki still very much loved Kaname but also loved Zero; it’s not like the love goes away. She still loved and missed Kaname even when she was with Zero.

People can love multiple people. In this case, Yuki moving on wasn’t her ceasing her love for Kaname nor her forgetting about him. She still loved him so much and her final words involved her calling him her beloved.

You are entitled to your own opinions and I’m not trying to change your minds but please be mindful of the context of things, along with the canon. And please, for the love of God, stop attacking Hino for making content for the ship you don’t like. This goes for Zekis, too.

This is no way an attack on anyone and I do not want anyone attacking me nor anyone else in the comments or reposts. Anyways, expect my next VK related posts being OCs, headcanons, or manga coloring because I don’t want to engage in this discourse any further other than adding context to something.

Lilia's hair is not pink because it's "greying"

I keep seeing people mention this a lot after everyone saw his phantom general design, and I just wanted to make it clear lmao.

In the official Twisted Wonderland archives, it’s revealed that Lilia's hair is originally black, and he just likes dyeing his hair according to his whims... So it could literally go back to being red any day if he felt like it.

His left-side bangs hover above his eyebrow, while his sidelocks are a two-tiered hime-cut.

His bangs have a slanted cut, and stop over his right eye.

The underside of his hair is dyed pink, while his natural hair color is black. Only a streak of pink accents his bangs, leaving the underside of his bob from the sidelocks to the back completely pink. He likes to change the colors depending on his mood, so sometimes he might change colors occasionally.

Another thing that has been stated recently in chapter 7 is that fae appears youthful no matter how old they actually are. Which means that they don’t really show any signs of aging, including the greying of the hair.

Icy's backstory from s8 is garbage

Icy’s backstory as shown in season 8 is ridiculous and doesn’t make any sense for the real Icy that we saw from season 1 up to 3.

Firstly, was she a witch or a fairy? Remember that in season 1, when the Trix broke into Alfea to look for the Dragon’s Flame, they mentioned that fairies are the ones who are royalties. In other words, if Icy was a witch, there’s no way she was ever royalty. Yet, in season 8, her backstory claims that she was a princess of a realm called Dyamond. If we are to accept and believe that, it would imply that she was a fairy who became a witch later on. Now listen, I know that the interconversion between fairies and witches exists in the Winx universe (even though it’s silly). But in this case, it’s not possible to assume that Icy was a royal fairy with a fairy family and became a witch when she swore to free her family from the “powerful witch’s spell.” Why? Well, I’ll tell you why.

In the earlier seasons it was mentioned that Icy, Darcy and Stormy were the direct descendants of the three ancestral witches. In other words, Icy was definitely a witch. Always has been. So, it contradicts her backstory of being a princess. Also, this is exactly why those three witches call each other ‘sisters’. They are related. Yet, in s8, Icy acts like she isn’t related to Darcy and Stormy at all but to some Sapphire who just materialized out of nowhere. Just weird.

Now, in her backstory she was portrayed as a poor, wronged girl who wanted to avenge a family. Okay? Now kindly recollect the Icy up to season 3 or even up to season 7. Avenger? What a joke! A dominant, power-thirsty, cold-hearted, purely evil witch! Before anyone says – “She wanted power to free her family!” – listen up first! Think about how she showed no sympathy or understanding for Bloom and Domino even though the situation is basically the same for them in the first 3 seasons. Isn’t that weird?? Also, Icy was not only hungry for power but world domination – something clearly not needed if saving her family was her goal. She and her sisters tried to take over the Magic Universe several times. Also remember again that she is the descendent of Belladonna, one of the 3 Ancestral Witches – beings of pure evil. She definitely could not have been the cinnamon roll she was shown to be in her s8 backstory.

Another thing. Hair colour. Lol, wth!? Icy always had white hair. In s3, the black willow episode showed how the Trix looked like when they were young. Icy had white hair and looked very different from the blonde-haired princess we saw in her backstory in s8. In fact, changing her hair colour from blonde to white is meaningless and … like, why would anyone want to do that? She’s supposed to be some panic-stricken princess in her backstory… not some fashion-crazy girl. Nothing makes sense. Absolutely nothing!

Last but not the least, the Trix were arguably the most powerful witches after their ancestors in the series. So, who is this mysterious witch seemingly stronger than Icy, who destroyed Dyamond or whatever? This is stupid as hell.

A confession

First time ever saying something on Tumblr... I have a confession to make to the Vampire Knight fandom... Perhaps controversial to some. I ship an extremely rare rarepair. Something I have only seen like 2 or 3 other people ship. Yuki and Yori. I obviously also ship other things but it's fun to pair these two together given their chemistry.
