My first impression when I saw this art was that of a tamer in a lion cage, and they would love to be seen like that. If you don't behave you get your punishment swiftly.

It was, as always a joy to work with you! 😊

Joris came to NC in early 2079 to look for his brother Valaire. He didn't know anything about him just that he lived somewhere in the city. Joris searched for fixers in NC and the name "Rogue" and "Afterlife" came up and this is where he went. Rogue was cautious, well knowing that he, as Valaire, worked for Arasaka. She didn't know if his intentions were as pure as he said, so she refused to help him but would ask around if someone else would. Rogue immediately called Kerry to tell him that someone was looking for Val. Kerry sent Vicco to Joris to find out who he really is... Vicco who was for several years in a relationship with Valaire immediately knew that Joris was "at least" related to Val. Joris knew that it was a test but since he didn't have any other leads, he endured. They met for several days and mostly talked about many things, while Vicco was watching and listening closely to find a mistake, but couldn't. One night they got attacked by an Arasaka squad and Vicco couldn't react quickly enough. If Joris hadn't shielded him he would have caught that bullet. Vicco was a bit rough pushed into a wall by Joris and lost consciousness for a short time. When they woke up, the squad was dead, except for one individual whom Joris had pinned to the wall holding him by his throat with his cyberarm. "I did the same thing to my uncle, and I care even less about you than I did care for him. So tell me who sent you?!" When he didn't start talking, Joris choked the guy to death, then fell to the ground, bleeding from a shotwound. The bullet that was meant for Vicco. Long story short, they became friends, but soon Vicco started flirting with Joris [see art above], Joris however was for months completely oblivious...

I don't even know where to start here 😅. They are all just sooo good! OK, OK. Let me try to reanimate my mushy braincells…

Valaire actually has 2 friends, Mitch and Judy, but Judy, when she moves away stops to contact him and doesn't answer any calls or Emails anymore. But Mitch will stay in his life for many years, even if they don't see each other regularly, only when the 'Caldos are near NC. The VP with Valaire and Kerry looks to me like the were dancing, but Kerry got bored and started teasing. It seems to work on Val.

Vicco only had one friend, which was Jackie. I know I did that to myself since I suggested to use "holo-Jackie" but it hurts so bad! Is Jackie really there, or just a memory of good days gone by? Also is Vicco looking past Jackie so it seems like Jackie is just a visual help for us to know he's there, combined with the mist and light it makes it even more like "just a memory". Excuse me, I need to go and cry for a while... Joris and Vicco is a very classic strangers to friends to lovers trope and I love this ship even if they are terribly adorable together. I love that you chose this one to be monochrome it ticks all the boxes in my head 💙 I created Joris as an oc to ship him with Vicco and started with Joris a new playthrough and I don't know how it happened, but when he met Rita the first time I was thinking like: "That could become interestimg" and I was thinking about shipping them. Vicco won in the end tho and I kept Joris and Rita as besties. Or as Joris would put it "Rita is the little sister he never had" (with her being older as him mind you 🤣) He started flirting at first with Rita but she always turned him down until he showed up at one of her pottery classes and made a fool out of himself (because he had less than no talent for pottery). She allowed him then to take her out for a coffee and that's where their friendship started. Joris is aalso very protective over Rita although she can damn well handle herself.

I already commissioned @theviridianbunny a few times previously (art), and she is a joy to work with! So what are you waiting for? 😉

Thank you so much @theviridianbunny for the lovely VP's. I gave myself some time to look at them and I don't know how you did it, (I probably gushed too much about them 😅) but every sinle one of the portraits suits them so well! The colorcoding for Joris and Vicco is spot on. Joris closing his eyes in deep thought, while Vicco is chilling with booze. Valaire's portrait however is nothing like the two others, but still it is so much like him. He doesn't need neon lights and the bustle of the city around him, just quiet beautiful moments.

I already commissioned @theviridianbunny a few times previously (art), and she is a joy to work with! So what are you waiting for? 😉

Modding has been my main focus lately. I spent a lot of time reworking the cutoff hoodies to learn the latest ArchiveXL features, and I'm glad I did! It automated quite a bit of the tedious part where I am prone to mistakes. It also meant the next two projects have moved much faster!

Nearing the testing phase are these gorgeous sock garters that were made entirely from scratch by the multitalented @blackrevell! I'm working with @dustymagpie to release them under our Richard Ripper Collection label. Can't wait to see all those slutty ankles, gentlemen.

Also in the works, an Archive XL conversion of my boot recolors! Someone asked about the possibility and while I was mucking about with the socks, I realized I could cannibalize parts of the Mexican boots to make a metal cap and harness. Next up: transferring normals and creating some mlsetups. Seems like a good opportunity to learn how to use dynamic AXL to mix and match harness, caps, and boots.

As for writing, there has been some progress on the standalone presidential PWP, which I will spare you, gentle reader. The end is in sight and I have an exit strategy. If I Buckle Down ™️I might be able to knock out the rest of the first draft in one sitting. The Tower-inspired one is still bubbling along at a steady pace of a few half-legible chicken scratches a night. It's still mostly contained to paper, though I'll start transcribing it once the PWP is done.

A few (raw) paragraphs I can share are from the magazine article:

It's clear Myers feels affection for the merc who saved her life, but only time will tell if she mirrors the feelings of the younger woman. Myers, of course, has been linked to numerous high profile partners, though has never confirmed any relationships. Her rich laughter fills the room when I ask whether Kurt Hansen's motivations include jealousy over an ex, and she answers with a full politician smile. "Is that old rumor still floating around?"

Writing:

Currently on refining CH02 as we had additional ideas to make it more interesting and I fixed Ryder's way to talk since this chapter is old as fuck and back then when I wrote him he was just created.

After they ended their discussion about the next gig they wanted to proceed, everyone seemed to be hanging in his own thoughts for a while. Scharfenberg just arrives back at the table with another fresh beer when he hears V cursing a mumbled “Fuck”, eyes fixed onto his mobile phone. “Yo, what’s wrong, V?” Vijay doesn’t look up but mumbles something to him instead. “Ah, I fucked up one of my programs. I’ve installed this new intrusion program, you know? ‘S called Wizard’s Book. Scans through billions of possible codes and code words in seconds, tryin’ each in one turn. In that way I can get code-ga—”  “Okay, I hear awkward runner language, V. I’m opting out!” Ry disrupts him as he sits back down at their table and promptly decides to give Chigasaki some attention instead before they fall asleep as they just yawned. Steyr puts a smirk to his lips. He knew how to stop Ryder’s curiosity. A “Hizumi-chaaan, tell me—” however is all Vijay hears Ry say in the background because his mind is back fully concentrating into finding more data about his new gained choom named Arki.

I don't know if the current layout stays as it's been a while since I've done it and I'm always thinking about how to make it tumblr friendly as it is currently set in 16:9.

I've sorta been a busy bee and produced a bunch of new VP (some I'll still hold back until time is right as they are chapter-related and that takes me also a while). But I've set a bunch of posts into a scheduled queue so some of them might appear through the next 2 weeks while I'm in South Korea and Japan.

I've collected a long long list of nexus mods for Hizu to create them as fast as possible after I come back from my trip. As you have already noticed I've chosen to create a new OC in between as I desperately needed to get him out of my head before I fly away tomorrow. So Garnet exists now. Ofc he is also available from now on for asks if there are any, as I like to develop him a bit as well. I'll put some facts in a next pic post with him.
