In honour of International Fanworks day on 15 Febraury ( you can find more info about it HERE by @transformativeworks ) I have decided to make a rec list as well. We should all support our creators with feedback and sharing after all. 😊
♧♧♧♧
Since this is my Harry Potter side blog, all the fics in my rec list are from Harry Potter.
♧♧♧♧
On Fire, But We can't feel a thing by @benjamin-ovich
Pairing: Sirius Black/James Potter
Summary: Sirius feels oddly faint, feels like his whole body has turned into vapour and he could just be blown away into nothingness at any moment. Nothing about this has felt real, not when Remus’ head popped into his fireplace after a whole year and not now that he’s telling him that James, his James, won’t remember who he is.
Rating: E
Words: 100, 790 ( In-progress )
♧♧♧♧
Tell me you love me, come back and haunt me by @gracelesslady23
pairing: James Potter/Sirius Black
Summary: Recently exonerated and looking for a new start, Sirius buys a flat to live in with his godson. However, it soon becomes clear they are not alone in the flat when Sirius begins receiving love messages on the mirrors and walls.
Sirius knows who he hopes is behind the messages, but he couldn’t possibly be right… or could he?
Rating: M
Words: 23,113 ( complete )
♧♧♧♧
Nom De Plume by @annabtg
Pairing: James Potter/Lily Evans
Summary: James Potter, renowned potioneer, has a secret side career as an erotica writer under the pen name of Scarlett Goldwing. When his latest book starts to take off, and Scarlett is asked to promote it at a public event, he has no other option but to recruit his colleague Lily Evans to pretend to be Scarlett. The only problem is, Lily Evans hates his guts… or does she?
Rating: E
Words: 46, 486 ( complete )
♧♧♧♧
Supernova by @siriuslyasorceress
pairing: James Potter/Sirius Black
Summary:
From the outside, it may look like James Potter has everything one needs to be happy. An abundance of talent, a prestigious job, a beautiful wife, an adorable child. So why can’t he let go of the past? Why does he still see silver eyes and a crooked smile when he dreams at night?
It's been six years. Six years since Sirius Black left England. He practically ran away from the country and hasn’t stopped running since. When he has to return to parts of his old life, he tries his best not to dwell on the past.
What luck then, that the past is one of the first people he runs into.
- “What, so the French sent a cursed Curse-breaker?”
There is humour in James’ voice, signalling that this isn’t meant to insult, merely falling into the way they always used to talk to each other. It’s almost too easy reciprocate, to answer with banter that still feels too familiar and pulls at Sirius to be released. He bites his tongue.
“I can assure you, cursed or not, I am still excellent at my job, Auror Potter,” he says pointedly.
Rating: M
Words: 73,120 ( in-progress )
♧♧♧♧
CRuSH by @heartofspells

James needs him, and Sirius misses his family. With their history locked away inside dorm room beds and dark corners of a castle once called home, Sirius is determined to move forward, convinced James barely remembers it at all. Attempting to reestablish the friendship they'd always had, Sirius is set on pretending it never happened, at least until he realizes the years away haven't changed the weight of the powerful spell James holds over him.
rating: E
Words: 89, 578 ( in-progress )
♧♧♧♧
The exchange principle by @charmsandtealeaves
pairing: James Potter/Lily Evans

♧♧♧♧
Out of my head ( when you are not around ) by quoichiant
Pairing: James Potter/Sirius Black
Summary:
Things are not particularly funny, but when he told Remus that he was going to get over James Potter -- for real this time -- Remus laughed. Because to everybody else, Sirius being in love with James is a fact of the universe.
The Earth turns, the sun rises, and James and Sirius come as a pair. Or Sirius is in love with his best friend, James is late to the party, and Peter is terrible at keeping secrets.
Rating: E
Words: 38, 038 ( In-progress )
♧♧♧♧
Line without a hook by @strugglequill
Pairing: James Potter/Sirius Black
Summary:
Four weeks, two days, and seven hours have passed since James hugged Sirius goodbye on the Hogwarts Express, a long summer of separation stretching ahead of them. With all of their other methods of contact blocked by Sirius's controlling parents, James shifts from disappointment to panic as a month passes with only silence in their two-way mirrors. Their separation just might kill James - or someone else.
After breaking into Number 12 Grimmauld Place with some hard-won cursebreaking and stolen Floo Powder, James wasn't expecting Sirius to ask him to fulfill a birth prophecy: rebirthing the House of stars with Black blood.
Song fic inspired by "Line Without a Hook" by Ricky Montgomery.

Words: 12, 189 ( complete)
♧♧♧♧

@heartofspells
House and Wilson are true opposites. We all know that House is a dick. He's outright rude, insulting, verbally aggressive, etc. He lives to make people upset. But when it comes down to it, the side that most people don't get to see shows how caring, protective, and sensitive he is. Everybody lies, and House's way of lying involves convincing people that he's someone who doesn't care and has zero regard for anyone's feelings. Wilson, on the other hand, is very much the opposite. He presents himself as this selfless, kindhearted, calm, down-to-earth guy. In reality, he's just as brash, unethical, manipulative, and self-centered as House is. It's just that he's taken the opposite approach that House has and chooses to hide those things about himself and instead make himself out to be this perfect guy. And that's why they get along so well. They can completely be themselves with each other.

the epilogue should have been harry, all by himself, as a hogwarts teacher, grading shitty essays by unbelievably moronic students and being like “fuck, snape was right.”

Tuesday Treat
Thank you for the tag, my love @tracingpatternswrites! <3
A little snippet from the next chapter of CRuSH (which will be up later today as soon as i edit it):
--
James pushes forward again, reaching out and snagging Sirius' arm when he tries to walk backwards, keeping him where he stands, his grip firm, determined, but Sirius barely feels the pressure, too busy watching the fire bleed out of James' eyes and into his cheeks.
"I love you," he repeats, almost desperately, a breathiness to his voice that steals the air from Sirius' lungs, "but now you're telling me you're done, and I don't know what to do other than to be honest."
His hand slips away from Sirius' arm, trusting Sirius not to move as it slowly slides around his side to his back. James presses into the dip, curving Sirius towards him, inhaling the stuttered breath that leaves Sirius' mouth. There's so little space between them, almost nothing, a few hairs' distance, James' eyes darkening as Sirius stares down at him, his brain going mute, all his former objections locked inside a cage without a key.
And when James tilts his head up a little, Sirius has no desire to move, his eyes closing slowly as their lips meet. It's soft in a way James rarely is with Sirius, hesitant and questioning, waiting for Sirius to respond. Sirius tries to fight, an inward battle raging, but it's useless. It's always useless with James.
He crashes into him like a fever, heated hands at James' shoulders, clawing through fabric into his skin, and James groans, his mouth parting, letting Sirius in willingly. He grips around Sirius' back with both arms, feet moving them, Sirius following blindly, dumbly, not caring, a grunt forcing out of him when he collides with the nearest wall. But James' arms don't stay in place, hand dragging to the front, pushing Sirius' robes out of the way, shoving beneath the edge of his shirt, fingers like fire against his skin.
Sirius hisses, James swallowing it, humming like a giddy child as Sirius winds into his hair, pulling and pulling, the fervor of their kiss increasing, becoming a desperate thing filled with need. He bumps James' glasses off one ear as they shift, Sirius aiming to get as deep inside his mouth as possible, the frames going lopsided, but neither of them bother to correct them.
They don't kiss, never brush lips, not like this, not unless they're already halfway to sex, but there's no sex here, only a desire for touch and breath that's not their own. Sirius wraps himself around James like a drowning man clinging to a buoy in the ocean, and James pushes into his hold, fingers sliding over any skin he can reach, touching Sirius everywhere, tracing the lines of tattoos and old scars, dipping between ribs like he wants to crawl inside his chest, except he's already there.
Sirius groans, whines a little as James makes an encouraging noise, speaking words inside Sirius' mouth that he can't understand but he understands all the same, nothing else needed. It's heat building, static forming in the air, lightning striking sand to create something miraculous.

CRuSH - Chapter 9
The guilt is crushing.
Sirius isn't sure how he'd let it slide away from him, how he'd forgotten. It's all-consuming, a black hole that feels the tickle of a toe and takes an entire leg and then the whole body. It prickles beneath his skin during every second of the day, unable to be shaken away, sticking and molding to the underside of his bones like an ineradicable disease.
He'd somehow let it escape his constant notice, that what he's been doing is wrong. Falling back in with James had felt right, like the easiest thing, like breathing again after being submerged in water, lungs swelling and expanding as they seize the air presented to them like a gift. It was like coming home after coming home, tumbling into a welcoming bed no matter how tangled the sheets were around him, the embrace of them known and familiar.
And yet, in the middle and at the edges of it all, Sirius has been building colossal devastation in every corner of his life. Not only is he hurting Benjy, a kind and generous man who Sirius knows truly cares about him, he's proving himself to be the worst sort of person.
Both Corelaine's and James' words ring through his head whenever he pauses long enough to let them creep inside the crevices of his brain. James had been right, Sirius is a cheater. He'd known that from the beginning, but he'd somehow blocked it out, put blinders around himself like shields. He'd stopped seeing it, the blackness of his heart.
Corelaine won't look directly at him when they're forced to work together. She can see it too, like a newspaper with bleeding ink smearing across his skin, embedding beneath his flesh. She thinks he's grown tainted. What she doesn't know is that he always has been.
All his free moments at the hospital are thrown into a pool with Chrys while she teaches him how to brew the Wolfsbane potion. One of the few great things about the woman is that she either doesn't pick up on social cues and moods, or she ignores them entirely. She also doesn't ask personal questions often, and when she does, she never asks again if Sirius remains stubbornly silent. Sirius knows she prefers it that way.
The only comment she makes not directly related to their work is to tell him to take it to a supply room next time and leave their office unsullied. At any other point, Sirius would find it funny, but now it makes him feel impossibly sick.
It takes him a while to get the brewing process down so that the potion can be considered safe, but less than he'd expected, because as Chrys had claimed during their first conversation about it, she's become a master at it herself, passing the knowledge on to Sirius without fuss. Once he has a viable batch prepared, his next order of business is Remus.

James sees the world in black-and-white. 'This is right, that is wrong' and there's no grey area. It's that simple for him.
Unless it's for Sirius.
Sirius tosses every single moral James thinks he has out the window, and the best part is that at no point does Sirius ask him to do this. Sirius is just living his life, shit happens, and all of a sudden, James is washing blood from his hands and thinking It needed to be done, just this once

mother fuck, while doing research for my james potter essay for @annabtg, I came across THIS quote:
Madam Rosmerta: “Of all the people to go over to the Dark Side, Sirius Black was the last I’d have thought … I mean, I remember him when he was a boy at Hogwarts. If you’d told me what he was going to become, I’d have said you’d had too much mead.”
Sirius Black was, even to someone who barely knew him, SUCH a deeply good person that he was the last person you'd have thought would become a death eater. THE LAST PERSON. Not the loyal, Gryffindor-bred James Potter, not quiet Prefect Remus Lupin, SIRIUS FUCKING BLACK, the firstborn son of a blood supremacist family with several family members who actively served Voldemort.
Young Sirius Black was so full of goodness that if someone said he was going to be a death eater, Rosmerta would have thought they must be drunk.
And Remus and McGonagall and Dumbledore and everyone else who knew him so much better let him go to Azkaban without a trial, never tried to get him out, never gave this boy the benefit of the doubt.
And then what did he do when he broke himself out of Azkaban? He forgave Remus in an instant. He rejoined the Order. He trusted Dumbledore enough to willingly stay locked up again. He handed his house over to be used for the Order, welcomed people to come and go as they pleased, to stay long-term if they needed -- even Snape, who had recently been eager to have him killed. And in a matter of two years, showed Harry more parental love and support than anyone had before -- to the point of dying for him, exactly as his parents did.
So when you actually look at canon Sirius, I think it's very clear why he was the last person you'd expect.

There’s something about how James was canonly an asshole but his parents still adored him like to outsiders James is such a dick but to his friends and family they LOVE him. Like Effie and Fleamont adored him. Remus and Sirius had nothing but good things to say about him. Mcgonagall was definitely his favourite teacher because she talked so highly of him. Something about James being a dick but his little personal circle seeing the best of him and absolutely adoring him.

Tuesday snippet
Thanks for the tag @heartofspells! I don’t have anything new from my main WIPs to share, but here's a snippet from my Remus/Regulus fic (that’s going to have some Prongsfoot as a side pairing). Regulus ends up in detention, and while Slughorn needs to go deal with an urgent situation, the unfortunate Remus as a Prefect has to stay behind in the classroom. Basically, Regulus is just a little shit to Remus.
__
"What the hell did you do to end up in detention?" Remus attempted to steer the conversation in another direction.
"Whatever one usually does to end up in detention," Regulus replied vaguely. He glanced blankly at Remus before tilting his head. "Remus Lupin. Half-blood. Your father is a wizard, and your mother is a muggle, right?"
Remus didn't bother answering the question. Regulus simply wanted to annoy him because it made his detention more interesting.
"Too bad," Regulus remarked. "You're an excellent example of a perfectly dull and unexceptional person who is not special in any way. Your blood isn't pure, but you're not exactly a muggle either. You might as well be a smudge on the wall that no one cares to clean because it isn't noticeable enough."
"And you're a great example of a student who is just trying to avoid his responsibilities."
"How the hell did my brother accept you as his friend? You're a nobody."
Remus rolled his eyes. "Your insults are a bit lazy. To be honest, I would have expected more given what your brother is capable of."
"You're just kissing his arse like the rest of your stupid little gang."
Remus was about to snort when Regulus's next words struck him like a punch in the gut.
"He'll never be yours."
Something in the weight of his words made Remus shiver, as if the younger Black could see right through him. The wolf wasn't the only secret he carried, even though Regulus wasn't quite right about his love interest.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Remus answered coolly, making sure his expression didn't reveal anything. At least he hoped so.
Regulus grabbed his quill and set it on top of the parchment. "Why, I mean, of course, that you're pining after him like some pathetic, lovesick lap dog."
He picked up his wand from the table and swirled it once in the air, spelling the quill so it started to write sentences on the parchment by itself. Regulus returned his gaze to Remus, who was anxiously waiting for the final blow.
"He only cares about Potter." Regulus spat out the last name with such contempt that Remus suspected he had personal reasons to despise James.
"Funny, you sound jealous of your brother. I was under the impression that you no longer cared about what he does or who he hangs out with," Remus replied dryly, despite the fact that his heart rate had risen significantly and his temper was frayed.
It took all of his energy to ensure that no one suspected what kind of beast lay beneath the surface. Aside from that, his romantic feelings were none of Black's concern.
For a moment, anger flashed on Regulus's face until he calmed down and became indifferent. He stood up from his desk and wandered over to Slughorn's desk, pretending to be interested in the glass bottles filled with various coloured liquids on the shelf next to it.
"Oh, I see," Regulus remarked, carefully picking up a small vial of sunshine-yellow potion in his hand. He tipped the bottle against the light like a potions master. "Your reaction suggests I may have been mistaken, after all. You're not interested in Sirius." He turned to face Remus with a lazy smile on his face. "I think you're into Potter."
