The Iranian Regime is going to execute rapper Toomaj Salehi for supporting protests of Jina Amini’s murder by the regime in his songs.
Iranian activist Elica Le Bon says, “Iranians in the diaspora picked up on the fact that the regime tends not to execute people who become known to the international community. We have seen many examples of prisoners that were either released on bail or had their sentences commuted through our “say their names to save their lives” campaign on social media, using hashtags to garner attention for their causes, and even before social media existed, through getting the stories of political prisoners to international media outlets. Once reported on, and once the eyes shift to the regime and the reality of its pending brutality, realizing that the action is not worth the repercussions, we have seen them back down and not execute. For that reason, this is part of an urgent campaign for readers to talk about Toomaj as much as you can, using the hashtag #FreeToomaj or #ToomajSalehi. Every comment makes a difference, and if we were wrong, what did we lose by trying?”

"Being a Jedi was the best thing that had ever happened to Cal. He loved it, even when the galaxy told him he shouldn’t, told him he should hide." (Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars)

Anakin on trial would be the exact opposite of a guy providing evidence against other people to get a lighter sentence, he'd be constantly adding to his own charges.
"yes, I did all the imperial war crimes you're accusing me of, also I tortured princess Leia, and her husband, I regularly tortured people during the Clone Wars too, also maybe committed some acts of terrorism but the definition of "terrorism" tended to get lost on me so I'm not sure, also I killed or at least caused the death of Padme Amidala, and killed at least one of her handmaids and her main bodyguard, also I murdered a Jedi and stole his lightsaber, on that note I killed younglings during order-66, and on that note I slaughtered a village of Tuskens when I was 19, also- hey wait a minute does me living as "Darth Vader" without telling anyone I was Anakin Skywalker count as identity fraud?" it's abysmal.
Some people think this is a strategy to make his trial take longer, but he's actually just genuinely penitent and if anything wants this trial to speed up and sentence him already but this "due process" thing keeps slowing things down.
And when they tell him the can't find evidence for... half of the things he's saying he's just like "wait so I can get away with it if I just kill the witnesses and erase some files? that's pretty kriffed up guys."
And when they finally start debating a sentence it never seems enough for him, and then they find out what he experienced under the empire as Palpatine's right hand man and... sweet Light Side of the Force how can this guy still even speak coherently.
Prison, execution, exile, etc. all pale in comparison to the physical and psychological torture this guy has been living for the past 20~ years, but all of that would be mega-illegal to do to a anyone, even a war-criminal so... the dude's just going to have to suck up the New Republic's "mercy" (Re: actual gosh darn ethics) and move on.

We must move quickly. The Jedi are relentless. If they are not all destroyed, it will be civil war without end. First, I want you to go to the Jedi temple. We will catch them off-balance. Do what must be done, Lord Vader. STAR WARS: EPISODE III - REVENGE OF THE SITH (2005)

Thanks for the question, Anon! I had to combine the “10” with the “more than 10” because I ran out of space! Hope it works.
For me I have a lot of health issues and can’t work because of it, and family issues as well, but if it was a perfect world, I would choose two kids. That way they have each other.

You can also criticize the "good" people in the senate for going along with it, including Padmé Amidala, Bail Organa, and the rest. None of these people said anything about the clones being literal slaves, nor did they have an issue with Palpatine's role as Chancellor until they themselves were directly affected by it (the ROTS deleted scenes explain that Palpatine was effectively supplanting the senate by appointing territorial governors). Ultimately, this kinda makes the Rebel Alliance into a joke as the people who founded it were themselves elitists trying to restore a government that had become corrupt.
I also love how Jedi apologists gotchas reveal their faults. The Jedi can't save Shmi because anti slavery efforts would lead to a war with the Hutts. Only using slave soldiers to keep dissent planet from leaving the Republic in order to keep up the comforts of Core world elites is worth a war! A war to end slavery, how does that keep the Jedi in power?
I know.
The cognitive dissonance and mental gymnastics of Jedi fans is quite staggering at times.
I have legit seen them saying things like "they had to use Clones because otherwise hundreds of millions of Republic Citizens would have died" but also "they don't want to use an army of droids like the Seperatists because that is immoral!"
Excuse me? So it is somehow *more* moral to create millions of human beings genetically modified and trained to make them more effective soldiers and ensure they are the property of the State so they won't desert or refuse to serve? It is more "moral" to create human beings specifically to be slaves because the other side are using machines to fight? HOW does that work?
TBH the whole "have to use clones to protect Republic citizens" thing makes a lot more sense because slavery has long been utilized by elites as a means to protect or shield them from the more unpleasant aspects of life, or by the general populace to do the jobs they don't want to.
Obviously the good people of the Republic considered themselves too "important" to risk thier own lives in the defense of thier own civilization. Which raises the question: maybe it wasn't worth defending to begin with.
