SHE HAD TRIED TO WALK OUT of the door at a particularly bloody crime scene when, suddenly, rough hands grabbed ahold of her and pushed her up against a wall. Her body kicked into high-gear, and she was MOMENTARILY back in the mindset that had characterized her throughout all of her greatest escapes and captures. Her knee was mere inches away from kicking him where it’d hurt when she registered who it was---Curtis. She had to quit bringing his scary ass on missions like this, or else she’d wind up KILLING him ( by accident, but nonetheless ).

He was strong, she’d give him that, but that didn’t stop her from regaining her senses and shoving him back. She held him by the lapel of his shirt with one hand, and held her gun with the other. He probably didn’t need to be frightened that much, but he was making her nerves bad. ❝ Stafford, I really don’t want to hurt you. I said I’m not going anywhere, and I meant it. ❞ She loosened her grip on him, but only mildly. ❝ If you want to follow me like a lost puppy, all you have to do is ask, ‘kay? ❞

SHE HADN’T PLANNED ON punching him; believe it or not, she’d really wanted to walk out of there, conflict-free, as to avoid writing up a report ( honestly, she couldn’t care less about whether or not she hurt an ASSHOLE like him otherwise ). But he’d been getting belligerent and smart-mouthed, and her hand moved of its own accord. She was glad that Curtis hadn’t seen anything too graphic---he was lucky the guy had gone down with one hit. Shaking her hand, Nyota faced him, an INCREDULOUS look on her face. ❝ What are we? Criminals? Of course you call an ambulance. ❞

SHORE LEAVE WAS A RARE PLEASURE that Nyota had seldom craved before. She was always on edge, always on stand-by and ready to work, even when they were stopped briefly on a planet for RECREATIONAL purposes. Jim is glad that she came to him, it’s distracting him from his thoughts.
