Darcy Lewis Bingo’s Halloween 2023 Flash Challenge!!!

🚨🚨🚨 This is a 100-day, flash fanworks mini bingo challenge, which means there *is* a deadline! 🚨🚨🚨

start date: Aug 2, 2023 (originally posted in the Darcy Lewis Bingo Headquarters Discord)

end date: Nov 30, 2022 (we recommend trying to complete this challenge by Halloween, but we’re giving you a whole extra month to post your fics and share masterposts for credit, so everyone has plenty of time to complete a bingo or a blackout).

Minimum fanwork requirements all remain the same as our regular bingo requirements. Please review the Darcy Lewis Bingo guidelines on our tumblr @darcylewisbingohq to refresh your memory before creating your Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble fanworks.

You may include up to TWO Darcy Lewis Bingo or Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble Bingo prompts in any single work or chapter, but the prompts must originate from completely different bingo cards to count. Such as:

or

Hi there! First, I apologize if I’m sending this wrong - I signed up on tumblr years ago when I started reading Steve/Darcy fanfic, but life quickly got away from me and I never used it after following a couple people. So I’m a total newbie who has no idea what I’m doing,

Anyway, the reason why I wanted to reach out was to thank you for your fic 3 AM and tell you how much I liked it. I left kudos, but since I don’t have an AO3 account, I don’t know if I even could leave feedback, so I figured out how to get back into tumblr to say hi and thank you.

Saying “I liked your fic” really doesn’t begin to describe how it resonated with me. I have a physical disability and suffer from chronic pain, so I guess it’s not surprising that I’ve spent years reading fanfic and wanting to see the challenges of serious pain reflected in the ships I like. And while I’ve found the occasional “character is sick and another character brings them soup”-type stories, or stuff of that nature, I’ve never read a story that felt like the writer really was speaking to the stuff I’ve wanted to see reflected.

I saw your update about your pregnancy (congratulations!!!), so I know you’re probably busy and won’t have time to respond (not that I even know tumblr enough to figure out HOW you’d respond!), but I hope you read this some time and know how much your story was a gut punch of awesomeness to someone who has been reading an epic amount of fanfic for YEARS and never came across a story they loved as much as your story 3 AM.

So I hope you’re doing well, and thank you for those hours you spent writing a fic that shook me more than anything I’ve ever read. (In a good way!)

Thank you so much for this message. I may or may not have shed tiny, happy tears reading it.

3 AM is a fic that's near and dear to me, so it especially hit hard that it resonated so much with a fellow chronic pain sufferer. Sending all my good vibes to you and anyone else out there who can relate 💜

But most of all, thank you for taking the time to share this with me! It means the world to know my writing made someone feel something or that someone saw their own experiences reflected in it.

And while I haven't had a lot of time to write lately (for good life reasons, I promise), I hope to get back to it and perhaps add a few more one-shots with chronic pain themes.

never actually blank

i have been talkin on this alot during my book tour but wanted to put words here for any buckaroos trottin around the internet.

questions chuck gets asked in signings or Q AND A sessions have WIDE VARIETY in their way, but theme that comes up over and over is: 'i wish i was a creator but i cannot find success in this way' or 'i wish i was a creator but my mind is blocked'

bud, you ARE a creator. we are all HERE TO CREATE it is our natural state of being. we cannot help but create.

buds might say: 'but i have not painted in months i have no inspiration left'

as far as chuck is concerned this is missing the incredible vastness of what CREATION is and what ART is. the art of a painting is not just about oil on canvas. it does not end at the border or the frame. the ART and the CREATION is so much more than that and sometimes we can numb ourselves to this way. the months spent pining for inspiration are just as important as the brush you pick. what you had for breakfast that day is just as important as the colors and hues. every misstep or big win along the way IS THE ARTWORK.

your art is not just your painting, it is the mixed media piece called your life. you are creating thoughts and ideas and dreams. in a physical sense you are creating heartbeats and breaths and even words vibrating through the air saying 'i cant think of anything to paint'

BUD THESE ARE ALL VALID PIECES and together they make something incredible and unique and POWERFUL. how deeply moving it is to exist here on this timeline, adding yourself to the even LARGER piece that we are all constructing together as we push back against the empty spaces and fill the cosmic void with our love.

so do not be discouraged by writers block or a blank canvas. a canvas is never actually blank and you are writing with every moment that you trot through.

i cannot speak for YOU, but whenever i let the artwork of this timeline flow around me, the more my specific pieces like writing or drawing come into focus.

bud we are building a masterpiece with every second of our lives, sometimes tragic and sometimes glorious. just gotta step back a bit and give it a look
