@crazyrichfilipinos is right about the mixed race babies comment being disgusting for the record and I should have mentioned it I was just having so many uncomfortable feelings about the Peraltiago main story I didn’t think about it hard - I should have it’s disgusting and offensive and wasn’t nearly brushed off enough because Pam was fulfilling Charles role as the Peraltiago fan of the episode.

People really think negative reactions to this episode are overstated and we should chill and the negativity over this season should stop - meanwhile I’m over here having loved every episode except Gintars and this might be the worst episode of the entire show specifically because I have no episode that’s ever been less than, like, a 7/10.

For the record it’s not that Amy’s feelings aren’t valid or realistic or even that it wasn’t something she should have ever brought up (because that’s a valid stance imo that if you want something that badly and your partner doesn’t then - yeah - it IS a deal breaker) it’s that with the way the episode was framed it completely invalidated every legitimate argument Jake had and also! She! Gave! Him! An! Ultimatum! Right! After! He! Brought! Up! His! Abandonment! Issues!!! What the fuck?!

Also never mind that Jake saying he never wanted kids is just. So unrealistic. But okay I can at least reconcile that with his fears making him exaggerate albeit with my skepticals on.

I’m just over here with my eyebrows straddling my hairline because - since they chose not to have the two of them have this discussion until a year into marriage - that means that Amy, married Amy who just a few episodes ago shook off years of family toxicity because he’s the only thing that mattered and she has him, missed no beats in implying that this was more important to her than Jake.

Just... phew I’m having a rough time with this one.

I know it ain’t the popular opinion and believe me I don’t blame her for this at all it’s how the structure was... however I just found the whole implication/admission that Amy would leave Jake for children RIGHT AFTER he said he was scared about the whole thing just. Mm... no. Sorry no. Some of y’all ‘bout to be real mad at me, but it must be said: I think people would be furious if Jake said that to Amy so... why is the reverse okay...? I mean, of course it would be more insidious if they had Jake do that but at the same time, it’s just kind of gross either way...

Not saying she doesn’t have the right to choose what she wants and I’m glad she was honest I guess it’s just. Idk the way it happened made me legit uncomfortable. Overall I’m glad they talked it out and I’m so excited about the ending and that they’re one day going to try for children and talk about it! Great! But... ehhhhhhhhhhh... that’s a ‘skip over it and pretend it didn’t happen’ or ‘reconcile with a fanfic’ kind of moment for me.

That episode was good but also that one moment left me so incredibly cold and idk what to do about it. As y’all know I am so down for little Atlas Peralta and am already writing the tiny baby with Dolly in my brain but also Oof. OOF. I’m gonna need to scream about this.
