Discover Poland
Poland. Not a place that most people would think of visiting yet the beaches in Poland are beautiful. The mountains in Poland are staggering. The lakes in Poland are stunning and the cities in Poland are filled with history and vibrate with life and energy. Poland has suffered from an image problem for as long as I can remember.
People used to tease me at school that Poland is full of grey communist apartment blocks and joke that the “only beautiful woman in Poland.....is a tourist”.
And yet, those that have been to Poland become converts. They get to see what people can’t even imagine. They learn that Poland is blessed with a natural beauty that is varied and unspoilt-qualities that are becoming more and more precious in today’s shrinking world.
The beaches in Poland are clean and plentiful. The Polish coastline is dotted with charming seaside towns and the coastal tourist industry is very healthy and robust.
Luxury hotels adorn the beaches in Poland and spa resorts are in most seaside resorts.
In the south of the country lie the Polish mountains with Zakopane being the unofficial winter capital of Poland.
A national park which is heavily forested against a backdrop of alpine-like mountain peaks where in winter it WILL snow. Perfect for a winter break and also great for skiing.
Poland has literally thousands of natural lakes pockmarked around the country.
Compare a Google Map of the UK with Poland and the difference is stark.
Many of the lakes are concentarted in the North East area of the country known as Mazury. Here the tourism infrastructure is impressive with chalets, guest rooms, private lakeside cabins etc all catering to every budget. It is a nature lovers haven.
Walking trails, canoing, yachting, bird watching. There are so many things to do here that you will be spoilt for choice.
Most first time visitors to Poland miss out on all of the above as they focus on exploring the cities in Poland and you cannot blame them.
The city of Krakow is undoubtedly the most popular destination for tourists to Poland as it combines beauty with history.
Perhaps the second most visited city is the maritime city of Gdansk with its Gothic looking architecture, great restaurants and bars and plenty of fascinating museums.
Warsaw isn’t visited as much but should be as the capital has some truly stunning parks and palaces not to mention excellent shopping and an amazing nightlife.
