This caused approximately three new fics in my head.
lockwood seems like he'd accept being severely injured if it meant lucy would fuss over him

There is nothing to add to this excellent observation but this: It's even funnier when remembering - and I mean really visualizing - that this gelled guy in a dark slim suit has the face of a 14-year-old and - and sorry but I can't stop coming back to that - sucks orange juice through his teeth pretending to be a blue whale!

Cannot believe that a) Lockwood thought hair gel would impress Lucy and b) it worked

That's terribly true.
And is a good example that only a thin line fits between healthy love and unhealthy codependency. Romance and toxicity are sometimes harder to distinguish than we'd all want. On one hand, we have emancipation and self awareness, and on the other hand we have Disney and Twilight. That doesn't make it easier.
Yes, Locklyle is not a healthy relationship. They are not relationship goals, everyone! Don't repeat that at home!
They are, however, only stupid teenagers. Stroud makes it obvious enough that this is not healthy behaviour. They will need to learn healthy relationships. We all had to learn that.
i literally don’t care who says otherwise, lucy and lockwood are the most UNHINGED CODEPENDENT FREAKS of any media. from their very first interaction lucy can already see herself fighting ghosts alongside lockwood indefinitely. lockwood giving lucy his sister’s necklace. basically the entirety of the hollow boy. come off it, luce, you know i’d die for you. lucy leaving the agency so lockwood doesn’t end up dying because of her. lockwood waiting for The Case Of A Lifetime to get lucy to come back to him. their journey to the other side. lockwood saving lucy when her cape tore. THEIR MATCHING WHITE STREAKS. lucy and lockwood becoming even closer after their trip to the other side. lockwood showing lucy his families’ graves. he will sacrifice his life for you. lucy swinging from a trapeze to save lockwood. skull implying that lucy is lockwood’s reason for living. it was a symbol of his undying devotion. lucy always staying behind with lockwood when he tells the others to go without him. lucy knowing that lockwood will inevitably follow her to penelope’s room in fittes house. lockwood arriving at the penthouse and lucy’s heart singing at his arrival. lucy staying with lockwood because she couldn’t imagine living without him. lockwood asking lucy out for a walk and gifting her his mother’s necklace. lucy putting on the necklace and ending the story with her going to lockwood.

Anyone brought up the fact that Kipps would be pretty much Jessica's age and being in the same business, it's probable they've met - e.g. at a duelling competition she accompanied her baby brother to?
I like to imagine Kips doesn't call Lockwood 'Tony' (only) to annoy him, but because he has known him since he was a little ankle biter being in the way of Kipps flirting with his big sister.
Now imagine how he must feel every single time he sees Lockwood.
And now, imagine that's why he finds Lucy attractive - because she resembles Jessica, his first crush back when he was 15, who died soon after.
Ouch.

The way Lockwood's answer to every single thing in the world is denial; and he's so funny that way but also so bloody slappable, someone just slap that boi please do it right now!

As much as I love that I have actively decided against naming my baby dog after a Lockwood character and somehow still accidentally ended up naming him after Kipps now (Francis), I still read it Quill Fucking Kipps.
It has been just over a month since -
The Quill F. Kipps Incident
Happy anniversary guys

Tumblr keeps catching up things that I post or see with incredible speed. For each and every word I use in a post, Tumblr will suggest me a fandom bubble. It's both fascinating and eerie.
I have posted one idea about Lockwood witchcraft school AU once and now Tumblr thinks I'm a witchtoker so I keep getting witchy/satanic/dark academia content; and I'm also following one catholic person so I get catholic content; so more often than not I find myself scrolling past a Lockwood fanart followed by a text post about Jesus directly followed by an art post about sacrificing babies to satan and as an atheist I feel terribly entertained by that.
Will I go to hell if I tag this 'Jesus'? I feel adventurous today so I'll go for it.
Edit: Now the tags say Jesus Satan Anthony Lockwood, I just can't, it's a trinity guys.

I think this dialogue in THB is so interesting, because it sets an end to the debate of Lockwood's opinion of Lucy's talent. While in TSS and TWS Lucy often felt he was not believing her about the ghost talking and in THB he continuously warned her and even tried forbidding her to try and communicate with ghosts, this is the first time he at least implies he sees her talent as a power - if you like, an asset rather than a liability - even if it makes her vulnerable.
It's also a direct answer to Lucy's claim after Wintergarden: 'I'm the only one who can do this, Lockwood, doesn't that count for anything?'
It also puts the entire second half of the book into perspective - how he must have been in constant stress, trying to protect Holly with her little combat experience and Lucy with her vulnerable talent at the same time with the both of them repelling each other like identically charged magnets, always trying to be as far from each other as possible.

In my opinion, it was Lucy's lap Lockwood had been lying in after the Wintergarden incident during THB, and this is why:
The next time the door opened, he was half asleep. The painkillers had done nothing for his headache, but they had done something to his mental presence - he felt foggy, tired, and somewhat drunk. He propped himself up on one arm, expecting a check-up visit from Holly, but found it to be Lucy. He was relieved to see her. Holly hadn't lied; she looked completely unharmed, except for a look like a kicked puppy. She was carrying a tray, and as little interest as he had in toast, he had a great interest in tea.
"I'm sorry," she said softly.
He smiled, "Don't worry about it. You apologized before." At least, he believed she did. He might have dreamt it.
"I wasn't sure you'd remember."
"I don't remember everything," he said, which was an exaggeration. He remembered almost nothing. "I remember waking with my head in someone's lap. Don't know if it was yours or Holly's." That was a lie. He knew it was Lucy's. He knew because she had apologized while wrapping her scarf around his head. He knew because for a pleasant moment, he had been nine years old again, fallen off his bicycle, looking up to the loving face of his sister, and everything was warm and good.
"It was George's, actually." So, two could play at that game.
"Oh, was it? Right..." he replied, and he knew that she knew he knew, and both decided to stick with that story. "Fine," he agreed, sealing it.
(from Chapter 3 of 'The Dark Winter')

HC that Lockwood has seen Lucy at least once during her absence from PR 35 but as her hair had grown longer and she was annoyed by it she was wearing it in a messy bun and he didn't recognize her.

Given that it seems that Lockwood & Co is set in the present more or less, but there are no smartphones, no computers, but plenty of ghostly street lanterns, and when you want to reach anyone to tell them - dunno - that you'd like to hire them as a freelancer for a job or something - you need to GO TO THEIR HOME AND RING THE BLOODY BELL like an f*in stone ager WTF!
- given that I solemnly declare Lockwood & Co as part of the Steampunk Genre.

I just had this in my timeline reblogged three times in a direct sequence. It struck me as some kind of rule of physics that I had to obey.

After they hire Kipps, Lucy takes to fondly calling him her work husband any time Lockwood has annoyed her because she knows it annoys him endlessly.

I'm not into AUs at all but a Lockwood-AU where they go to a boarding school to become agents and there's also more subjects like brewing elixirs and crafting magnesium flares and stealth parcours and haunting literature class and support incantations and of course lots of teenager tropes. Like a mixture of Hogwarts and Kaer Morhen but very LGBTQIA friendly, especially T.

With Lucy being a tall and athletically built woman and Lockwood being slender, I assume they'd fit each other's clothes, they just never do so because suits and skirts and gender coded underwear and pink socks. They'd only mix up t-shirts in the laundry. After some years of this, they don't even remember which one belonged to whom in the first place, so they just share a stack of shirts.
