❝ excuse me . ❞ she exhales the words
effortlessly, a bit TOO softly, maybe. a
little help was all she needed. ❝ would
you mind pointing me in the right
direction ? ❞ kiyoko hopes she’s heard
now.

[about your track headcanon] why didn't she join up again after her surgery?
The meniscus is a ‘C’ shaped, shock-absorbing cartilage that provides a cushion between your thighbone (the femur) and your shinbone (tibia). You have two menisci in each of your knee-joints, and it can be torn by/during any activities or sports that put pressure on or rotate the knee joints.
Menisci aren’t exactly easy to come by, either. Most come from people, who have died, and have donated every usable part of their body to hospitals and such.
And while you may be thinking, ‘people get knee transplants, so can’t they donate it after getting a knee transplant?’ The answer is no, due to the fact if you’re getting a knee transplant- then your meniscus has already been damaged.
And Kiyoko isn’t exactly big on the idea of a person having to die for her to get a new meniscus. So she decided to play it safe and not join again.

headcanon﹙₀₀₂﹚
Prior to being Karasuno’s volleyball manager,
Kiyoko used to be involved with Track & Field.
With speed at 5/5 (stamina &&. jumping as her
follow ups) it would only make sense that track &
field would be the obvious choice for her. Kiyoko
never had enough power to be involved in sports
like tennis or basketball; so she ran.
She specialized in sprints &&. hurdles, not so
much long jumps or triple jumps. She eventually
set records at her middle school for her favored
events,
However, in her final year of junior high; Kiyoko
suffered a meniscus tear in her left knee. Once the
school year ended, she underwent surgery that
summer before entering high school.
Shortly after the school year began, she became
the victim of being asked to apply for the manager
position for the volleyball team (by Daichi).

headcanon﹙₀₀₁﹚
Kiyoko knows boys can be cruel. And throughout
elementary school, she was never he prettiest. She
went felt as though The Ugly Duckling was written
about her.
She did have a crush, though, growing up. But of
course- he never noticed her. When she eventually
tried to confess to him, their first year of junior high,
he said he was already seeing someone. Kiyoko
later found out he had lied to her.
But before she entered her second year of junior
high, Kiyoko and her family moved to Miyagi to live
closer to her grandparents, as well as to assist them
with living (her mother is an only-child, and by tradit
ion; it’s usually the eldest son who goes to live with
his ageing parents. But in Kiyoko’s mother’s case-
she’s the one to watch them).
Kiyoko’s ugly duckling phase is quick to fade her
summer before entering high school, and she’s, of
course, asked to become the volleyball club’s man-
ager. And on their third trip to a joint practice, out of
Miyagi, Kiyoko finds herself in her old prefecture.
And because she’s just so lucky, she of course runs
into her old crush.
He’s quick to recognize her, really, which amazes
Kiyoko, and soon he’s confessing to her. Saying he
actually had a crush on her too, but was too nervous
and was not able to find the right words to say. Just
as she’s about to burst into tears, knowing very well
he was lying straight to her face, Daichi finds her
and excuses the two of them before taking her away.
Kiyoko is still very grateful, to this day, thanking
Daichi whenever the memory comes to mind (which
is usually whenever they visit her old prefecture).
