I’m exhausted, I’m worn out, I’m sore, I stabbed myself twice, and I’d really like to do a real reroot now.
Used Big Twist Party in color Candy. It’s like a lot of cake-type yarns that cycles through green, blue, purple, and orange/pink. I used the blue a little, tossed the green and used mainly the purple and orange/pink. Even then the purple had a strand of blue that I mostly removed. Regret using so much of the blue tbh.
I guess I can see why someone would choose to do a reroot like this. The finished product tends to hold it’s shape without product, it looks nice if you’re not going to mess with it, and it’s cheap. You can also get some absolutely killer color variations but I prefer nylon.
Oh and if you use the same yarn keep in mind that this length is pretty much all your gonna get. I evened the ends a bit but this is basically the length I had when I finished brushing it out.
Edit: Wait no holy shit. Just figured out something cool
You can make it look like her hair is windswept. That’s so cool. I could see so many uses for that.

Wip pics of Lochlynn! And a little how-to. Disclaimer, this is my 3rd doll repaint and first body costum so I am definitely NOT an expert, this is just how I did it:
I knew when I decided to make this doll I would need a lagoona base, because I really wanted her lower legs to be transparent! I ended up using the monster ball lagoona because her accessories had those big flowers on them that I thought would work well with lochlynn's design. Ironically (since I already planned on repainting her) the lagoona I received was majorly wonky in the lips! Lol I'm glad I received her instead of someone who actually was hoping to display her as is...
The first thing I did was prep the doll body and face, I followed a tutorial I found in Reddit that worked pretty well. Basically I wiped the body down with rubbing alcohol, then soap and water, wiped the face with acetone, and then gave the body a light sanding with a fine sand paper. I had to also sand off the pink paint from her shins, which took the longest. After that I used gesso as a primer base, this is just what I had on hand, it worked fine for me but there are other primers you could use that might give you a smoother finish. I did a very thin, even layer with a sponge. I wasn't worried about getting an opaque layer, just an even one so the paint would have something to stick to.
After the gesso was dried (I waited overnight to make sure it was totally dry) I did multiple fine layers of the light green acrylic paint base, until I was happy with the coverage. Then I added some blue around her middle and lower arms to incorporate the color of the legs into the rest of the design. Lastly I added some vines going from her collarbones down her arms, and I'm happy with how they came out! I considered adding some around her back and down her hips as well, but since I knew the dress would cover it anyway I decided to skip it.
I sealed the body with matte mod podge, which I read in the tutorial is essential that it is the MATTE mod podge and not the gloss. It seems to work pretty well, I haven't had any of the paint crack (except some mild chipping in the joints, this is unavoidable) so I'm happy with it. Mr super clear would probably work well too, but I save that for the face only as it is more expensive.
I don't really have advice on how to paint the face, basically my technique is to go straight in with acrylic paint and just keep painting until it looks good? Lol, I've used watercolor pencils before and I end up just painting over them anyway so this time I decided to skip it. Since I did a full repaint on the face the pastel chalk I use for blushing normally wasn't sticking well, so I also just ended up doing that in paint and making sure I blended it as nice as I could. The concept for her faceup was meant to be like camouflage for when she is peeking out over the water, and she has little yellow fairy lights as freckles! I'm really happy with how her face up came out, although I think I need a thinner brush for lashes, I'm not sure how other doll customizers always get them so smooth!
Her hair is the original lagoona hair, Im still not good at rerooting so I decided not to attempt it with her, and instead found a tutorial for dying doll hair with acrylic paint. Since the lagoona had mostly light yellow hair I figured it was worth a shot, and it worked pretty well! I did a very watered down pink paint over all the yellow spots and let it dry overnight before rinsing it out. There's definitely some patchiness that could have been fixed with a second application, but I'm impatient and left it as is. I also dyed her hair after painting the body, and in hindsight I should have done the hair first, as trying to paint and rinse the hair without messing up the body paint was harrowing.
Lastly I made her outfit and painted her accessories, which I honestly forgot to take any pictures of the process! The dress has just two side seams for the top, and the skirt is paneled because I didn't have enough fabric for a circle skirt. I mainly use scrap fabric for doll clothes so usually my options for what I can make are restricted. Im happy enough with how the base dress fits and I had fun adding all these trims! I also made her a locket with a bit of gold cord I had and a little green gem, I just hot glued them together around the doll. The other accessories I did a gesso base again and acrylic paint and used a mod podge seal.
I had a lot of fun making her! I'm excited to attempt more customs in the future. I hope this is helpful or interesting to someone looking to do their own customs, it's a bit of work to get into it but having a ooak doll is so satisfying!

Wake up new T.V. head just dropped 📺
Cherix and TechNicole, finally together. I still haven’t settled on the exact nature of their relationship, although I’m getting more of a cousins or BFF vibe than sisters or girlfriends. Maybe they are like me and my cousin— BFFs growing up, as adults have a loving, “would help one another bury a body & take the secret to our grave”, “we’re family so we have to put up up with the other’s crap”, mutually alternating feelings of pity and jealousy, vaguely antagonistic rival relationship.
The Licca-chan television and the rest of my order got lost in Japan for over a year. (It’s actually a really funny story. But also a long story, and I’m on the phone.)
@yami-yomiel @moodymouse-clubhouse thanks for the names!

One day I was browsing AliExpress and came across this guy over here, I thought it would be interesting to customize him and ordered him. But when he arrived, his legs were covered in a layer of greasy oil that was highly unpleasant to touch.
So I gave him a kitchen sink spa treatment.
Hopefully y'all can see the end result soon enough!
